The majority of us want the end-result of all this 'court-action/money problems' concerning the Hun, is to see (hopefully) the total and utter implosion of them, along with their partners-in-grime at the GFA. Ashley's reasons for doing what he's doing may be different from ours but as 'Ozyhibby' says -

'one club is playing by different rules and the governing body is helping them'

So anything and anyone that damages either of these two disgusting 'entities' is fine by me !

When two loathsome forces collide, all the civilised chap can do is sit back and enjoy the spectacle, hoping for damage maximisation.

As far as Sports Direct is concerned I've known a few folk that have worked / are working there. None had any particular grips other than the odd **** manager. Once they become managers the bonuses are pretty spectacular. Having said that many managers leave just after bonus time!

I have also known people who have worked for the government, at all levels, Standard Life and other insurance companies, the RBS and other banks who have all had a lot worse to say about their employer.

For Scottish football though I think he may be a double edged sword, maybe even more edges than that!

I hope, if what has been suggested regarding King is true, then he doesn't go after Scottish football with the same fervour and there's something left at the end of it to take the game forward in a sustainable way.

Mike Ashley and Dave King desrve each other and we should be glad they have nothing to do with our club.

The only concern we should have as bystanders to this farce is that we don't watch their odious club being giving unfair advantage and rules bent by our gutless, arse covering authorities at the expense of ourselves and others.

The one good thing about Ashley getting involved with these vile creatures is everything is coming out in the wash, and the authorities will find it very difficult to brush things under the carpet without everyone being able to scrutinise it.

"Temporary workers at Sports Direct, the booming retail chain controlled by the billionaire Mike Ashley, are receiving effective hourly rates of pay below the minimum wage, an investigation by the Guardian can reveal.

Warehouse staff at the group, which is controlled by Britain’s 22nd richest man, are required to go through searches at the end of each shift, for which their time is unpaid, while they also suffer harsh deductions from their wage packets for clocking in for a shift just one minute late.

The practices contribute to many staff being paid an effective rate of about £6.50 an hour against the statutory rate of £6.70 – potentially saving the FTSE 100 firm millions of pounds a year at the expense of some of the poorest workers in the UK". Nice.

A judge whose behaviour was adjudged by the Court of Appeal as “wholly inappropriate” when he took part in “extraordinary” exchanges in court, has received an official reprimand. Mr Justice Peter Smith was reported to the Office for Judicial Complaints after showing “undoubted animosity” towards a party in a case before him. The furore arose after a case involving Addleshaw Goddard came before him and he was asked to stand down since the law firm had previously rejected him for a job. The judge, however, refused. Sir Anthony Clarke, Master of the Rolls, and two other appeal judges in Howell & Others v Lees Millais & Others, ruled that Peter Smith J had got “carried away”, had shown “undoubted animosity” and was “intemperate” in the way he handled the application for him to stand down. The judge, the appeal court ruled, should have recused himself.

Since the ref was so scathing about SD's application, isn't there a chance that the Huns will get awarded their costs from Ashley? In that case they'd still have their £300,000, which they could use to plunder other Scottish clubs' best talent, and all would be well.

It seems to me the judge was taking the view that the case was brought by Sports Direct at the behest of Ashley in order to hand out a personal kicking to King to teach him a lesson not to mess with Mike Ashley, rather than because Sports Direct in reality thought, or even cared, that what King had said had actually damaged the company or even Ashley at all.

If there's one thing the courts hate its folk wasting their time, especially folk who are clearly using them to settle personal grudges under the guise of another matter. They also take a dim view of and treat with disdain a lawyer with a badly prepared case, which looks like what's happening here.

Ashley is gonna come out of this looking like a fool. Heads are gonna roll and if it was personal before its gonna be a hell of a lot more personal now.

Lifted from Kerrydale Street, while they were discussing the character of the judge. :

Has anyone Googled 'Judge Peter Smith'?

Reprimands, rants, etc. Seems handpicked for a Dave King circus.

http://www.newlawjournal.co.uk/nlj/content/reprimanded-judge-keeps-job

Quote:

Indeed. If a fair-minded,non-zoomer analysis is sought then that is the last place you'd go to.

SD did not prove the case today. Judge called it right.

When I see Sports Direct v Rangers, Ashley v King in courts, I think: there is a god.

Yep all the makings of the rumble in the jungle. Just throw them some boxing gloves and get it over with. :greengrin

But did God smile on the most righteous today? One's as bad as the other. I don't think the SD silk had time to tie his gloves before the honourable judge started putting in a few sharp jabs before landing the knockout punch. :take that

Judge was particularly scathing that counsel for Sports Direct brought no evidence to court proving King made the statements reported

Hope you found that tweeting useful. Court will probably sit again at half 2 to briefly sort out future matter of injunction.

Another revelation from court was that Rangers repaid Sports Direct their £5m loan yesterday.

To summarise 3 reasons Sports Direct lost in court today.

1. Dave King mentioned only existence of meeting with Ashley not content

2. No evidence was presented to show beyond a reasonable doubt King made statements attributed to him

3. King was not called as a witness so his testimony is his affadavit was not able to be challenged.

£300K+ taken out of Scottish football to deal with the utter drivel being discussed in a London court today. I truly despair.

Eh? £300K taken out of the New Huns' January budget. What's not to like?

A bizarre argument for anybody non-Hunnish to make, but especially a Hibby.* Are you seriously making a Regan/Doncaster "Scottish football needs a strong Rangers" argument?

* For the avoidance of doubt, not casting aspersions on 0666's Hibby credentials which are much stronger than mine, even if he is a Hun apologist.

Great work.

From reports, no surprise judge found in King's favour.

There is information in the public domain about Rangers Retail that SD surely don't want out there. Why did they not go for that?

I do agree that putting someone in prison for acknowledging a meeting or just saying they want to renegotiate a contract is ludicrous.

I think the % split and ownership of brand names and security came out at the time the loan was made. How about the 7 yr termination clause? Who leaked that?

Personally and from the tweets passed on by Ozzy, cheers bud, :)

Have to say the Judge was correct! Jail someone for nothing? Nah don't think so!! Also, was quite clear how King got his glib and shameless liar attributes: plays the game well, creates ambiguity and uses ignorance as a defence! Worked this time but in future .... the very very near future?
