Romanov refuses to apologise

Hearts owner Vladimir Romanov refuses to apologise for abandoning Tynecastle club
30 Jun 2013 00:01

AFTER being tracked down by the Sunday Mail, the Lithuanian tycoon shrugged of responsibility for Hearts' state of crisis, and said he didn't want to talk about the club.

ELUSIVE Hearts owner Vladimir Romanov yesterday refused to apologise for abandoning the crisis-hit club. In his first public statement since the club were placed in administration, the 67-year-old claimed the crisis at Tynecastle was nothing to do with him.

After being tracked down by the Sunday Mail, Romanov said: “They have a new director. I’m far away from Edinburgh. What do I have in common with this?”

The future of the Edinburgh side is in doubt after they went into administration with debts of £25million. Mystery surrounds the whereabouts of Romanov, who is suspected of embezzling £12.5million after the collapse of a bank he owns in his native Lithuania. The last news of him was in May after he suffered a stroke and was treated in hospital in Moscow. Last week, the Sunday Mail managed to contract Romanov by phone. He would not say where he was. We asked if he is sorry for what has happened at Hearts during his eight-year ownership and if he accepted any blame for the club’s difficulties. But after giving his curt reply, he hung up.

When we phoned him back to ask again what he thinks about Hearts’ situation, Romanov repeated several times: “Can you understand me? I don’t want to communicate. I don’t want to talk.”

Our Lithuanian reporter Salunas Balota, who spoke to Romanov in Russian, said: “His voice was not happy at all. He sounded as if he was tired. He certainly talked without his usual arrogance.”

Yesterday, Romanov’s luxury home in Kaunas, Lithuania, lay empty. The £1million three-storey white house is in the exclusive Zaliakalnis district a few minutes from the centre of Kaunas. Last week, there was no answer at the house he shares with his wife. But two top-of-the-range Mercedes were parked in the driveway. Security staff who are normally on patrol to deter unwanted visitors were also absent. A young man who lived nearby told us he hadn’t seen his neighbour for a long time. He added: “I think I saw him a few months ago. Now, I see only a gardener working in the yard.”

Romanov was told in April by the Lithuanian Financial Crime Investigation Service that he was to be investigated on the Ukio Bankas embezzlement allegation. He was due to meet prosecutors in the capital, Vilnius, on May 2 to discuss the allegations but failed to turn up. His lawyers said Romanov had suffered a stroke and was too ill to attend. His non-appearance could lead to the Lithuanian authorities issuing an international arrest warrant. It has also been claimed that Romanov is under the protection of bodyguards connected to former warlord and now Chechen president Ramzan Kadyrov. He is said to have sought protection after Russian gangsters lost millions of pounds when Ukio Bankas went bust. The FBI found links to Ukio Bankas while investigating money laundering.

Romanov became the majority shareholder in Hearts in 2005. He put the Tynecastle club up for sale 18 months ago. Ukio Bankas are owed £15million by Hearts. Another bust Romanov firm, UBIG, are owed £10million. Romanov has been in denial about Hearts’ debts for some time. When the Sunday Mail tracked him down in Lithuania in November, he said reports about the side’s financial problems were all llies. Administrators have set a date of July 12 for interested parties to submit bids for the club. It is thought there are at least three potential bidders, including fans’ group the Foundation of Hearts. Shirt sponsors Wonga advanced part of next season’s sponsorship money, thought to be around £90,000, to help out the club. Hearts need to raise around £800,000 through the sale of 3000 extra season tickets to see their way through to the start of the new season. More than 1500 season tickets have been sold so far. The side will start next season with a 15-point penalty.

Have we had an overall debt figure yet? I assume this is mandatory as part of the pre CVA stage therefore we would expect to see something public in next few days before bids (cough cough) come flooding in?

You will only get a list of creditors if/when a formal CVA proposal is prepared. The 12 July deadline is for bids to be made. Any bids would then be considered and the administrator would then nominate a preferred buyer. After further talks between them a CVA would be prepared.

Troubled Hearts launch 11th-hour bid to keep defender Wilson

Hearts' administrators BDO were attempting to secure a shock deal which would see Danny Wilson continue to play for the club next term.

Wilson spent the second half of last term on loan at Tynecastle from Liverpool but a pre-contract deal to sign the defender for a further three years had to be scrapped when the Gorgie outfit was plunged into administration earlier this month.

Following the insolvency event, the club are subject to a transfer embargo but Wilson is still technically a Hearts player until his registration runs out at midnight on Sunday.

The release of John Sutton, who opted to leave the club for Motherwell rather than take a wage cut, has freed up room in BDO's budget and they were in talks on Saturday with the SPFL and SFA to secure what would effectively be a contract extension with Wilson.
The move is sure to be controversial given the severe cost-cutting by BDO at Tynecastle, which has included the redundancies of 14 non-playing staff.

However, the 21-year-old enjoyed his brief spell at Hearts last term and is understood to be willing to stay on significantly reduced terms from the deal struck with the previous regime.

Wilson, who switched to Anfield from Rangers in a £3million transfer in 2010, views his next move as a purely footballing decision and, despite Hearts being hit with a 15-point penalty and facing a fight against relegation, is willing to start again in Edinburgh.

Wilson to stay at the yams?

Couldn't make it up.....

They could play him if they come out of admin. and don't get an extended signing ban,

or...... play him as a trialist if they get relegated after liquidation.

They shouldn't be bloody allowed to sign another player whilst in admin, they then should have a ban placed upon them to stop signings for a year with a hefty fine too. Would be ridiculous if they were allowed to sign anyone.

Reads like they would have to agree a contract with him today to be allowed to do this, because he becomes a free agent tomorrow. If/when he becomes a free agent he would have to be registered and they can't do that while in administration.

They're trying to exploit the loophole that he wouldn't be a "new" signing (at least until today). They aren't allowed to sign anybody who isn't already registered with Hearts.

Another Boyd/Goodwillie situation I think. Season ticket sales must have slowed, and news that they might not be as ***** next year as some of them had feared might increase sales. No doubt they will fall for it hook, line and sinker, again.

They can't be liquidated soon enough.

Can they do this just having made Sutton redundant? There is talk of four other players but I must have missed them being named, if one of them was a centre half, or could even have played there (they have used Sutton as a makeshift ch at times) surely they cant take someone on without offering the position to one of those that has just lost their job.

Having failed to honour the contracts of employees, by "asking" them to take wage reductions, it would be hugely inappropriatefor the SFA/SPL/SPFL to sanction this move. Why dont they use the money to honour contracts already in place or to pay some bills?

Scandalous if true IMO.

Edit; I would also add that they have been trying to punt Sutton for a few seasons now, having lured him from Motherwell with a mega contract (beating others to his signature), before it became apparent that they didnt know how to play him. Sutton sits tight so they eventually make him redundant. Diabolical and dishonourable shambles of a club.

Surely a nonsense piece to appease the puddle drinkers. Why on earth would BDO seek to add to a cost base they've previously said will have to be slashed still further if money doesn't come in?

I mean I suppose they could view a stronger squad as maybe being more attractive to a buyer, but still. Also I can't see how Wilson could be viewed as a contract extension. Webster or Zal certainly would be, but Wilson is not, nor ever has been contracted to Hearts.

I don't think it really matters anyway. The question is how much cash have they generated and whether that is enough to sustain them through the administration period. Only BDO can answer that really. My guess is that if they sell 3000+ (their aspiration) that would give them more than enough to see them through the next 3-4 months, as accountants tend to be conservative in their estimates. This is unlike the shysters who were in charge before.

Selling a lower number, while not ideal, should still give them enough breathing space to continue operations. It just means the staff won't get their wages as quickly as they would like, as other bills (particularly HMRC) will take higher priority. Alternatively BDO may have to explore other options to get cash in and/or cut costs, eg selling a player for a low fee. The only way IMO that BDO would have said "there's no cash coming in, therefore we have to close the doors" would have been if there had been hardly any response to their appeal.

I think there is a psychological issue (isn't there just!) that they have put the 3000 out there as a target and failing to then hit it would enable us to totally rip the urine for a long, long time as well as being another embarassing failure of the Yam hordes.

Locke is claiming that Tynecastle will be full every week when, under similar circumstances, they failed to do this towards the end of last season struggling to get 12000, a figure which included all ST's whether they were there or not.

Wouldn't bother me at all in a football sense, Danny has always been over rated and didn't do anything to impress whilst on loan. Another OF hyped player who flatters to deceive, hence I call him Danny Slipup - he's always prone to horrendous errors.

In a moral sense, would simply reaffirm that ineptitude of Scottish football's management and authorities.

I'm sure the 14 people made redundant already are delighted!!

Even if they make the start of the new season we'll still put double digits past them and it'll be with one more wage for them to pay.

Unless we get 2 new descent strikers in we will be lucky to put one past them. Still think we'll beat them but I can see another 2-1 or 1-0.

If Wilson signs for them then is a bigger fool than Stevenson. But cant see how this will be allowed. I don't really rate him but he did play well enough for the Rangers in the CL and Liverpool paid £3m for him. I can only think that the Yams think if he plays well they can sell him on with him getting a slice of it. But how can this be allowed?

Yams website confirms.

The Scotland international's contract with the Anfield outfit expires today (Sunday, June 30) but he will keep featuring in maroon after the SPFL confirmed that his registration will continue.
Although the current administration which the club is subject to has meant an embargo on new player registrations, as the 21-year-old is already registered with the club there is no restriction on his move from Liverpool to Hearts.

I'm going against the grain here but...

They haven't broken any of the player registration rules so there can't be a complaint from that point of view. Also, as Sutton refused a contract and left, I expect the wages freed up by him leaving are paying for Wilson.

I personally don't see what the problem is. They're in desperate need of practically a whole team and this week have replaced one player with another. It's not exactly going to make them unbeatable.

Aside from that it's morally shocking. The glee abou I on kicknack is just wrong. 14 people on 'ordinary' wages are out a job in a tough financial climate yet they are celebrating signing Danny Wilson, who even on a reduced wage won't be on less than a grand a week.

Interesting to note that this is what Tom English wrote about Rangers' attempt to sign Daniel Cousin while in administration.

http://www.scotsman.com/scotland-on-sunday/sport/football/tom-english-someone-with-a-conscience-had-to-say-it-s-not-right-to-sign-him-when-redundancies-are-in-the-air-1-2125647

Given the stunning events of the week at Rangers it might seem a little peculiar to begin any cataloguing of the shame that has befallen the club with a tale about Daniel Cousin, but it is a revealing one all the same. On Friday afternoon, Rangers were, in their own words, “very, very hopeful” of signing the Gabon striker on a reported salary of £7,500 a week. There was talk of “bits of red tape” to get through, but the club seemed confident the deal would happen.

Bizarrely, the representatives of Duff & Phelps, the club’s administrators, said nothing. There was no mention, for instance, of the signing ban imposed on the club as of last Tuesday’s descent into administration. There was no mention either of the ethics of the situation, no chat about the morality of bringing a new footballer to the club just 24 hours after the administrators spoke publicly about an unpaid HMRC bill of £9m and the fact that staff at Ibrox may lose their jobs in the coming weeks as a result of the financial mismanagement of Rangers going back many years.

A point of order was required from the administrators, but it never arrived. A principled stance from the club, then? No. Somebody in authority and in possession of a conscience needed to say: “Apart from being against the rules, it’s also not right to sign anybody when redundancies are in the air and the taxman needs paying.”.

If they had a spare £7,500 a week then the decent thing to do would have been to meet some bills and try to ease some tension in the lives of those fearful of losing their jobs.

But, no. The plan was to give it to Cousin in an attempt to sort out their “problems up front”. Crass and insensitive, but also curious. Rangers went into administration on Tuesday. On Friday, the SPL were presented with a contract between Cousin and Rangers which was signed by the player and by Paul Clark, the joint administrator of the club. The date on the contract was 17 February, a full three days after Rangers’ ability to sign players ought to have been revoked. Now, even if Clark was entitled to ease that restriction, why would he want to? In what way was Cousin’s attempted signing a sensible decision for an administrator to make given the revelations about the state of this club’s finances?

It was only right that the SPL dynamited Cousin’s registration, but all sorts of questions remain about why it was even presented in the first place. The administrators cancelled a Rangers Hall of Fame dinner scheduled for this evening because they didn’t deem it appropriate and yet they give the move for Cousin their imprimatur. Like a lot of other things at Rangers, it needs some explaining.

God knows, there are enough villains in this farce without picking on the administrators, but some of the things that have happened since Tuesday demand an airing. For instance, their apparent certainty that liquidation is not a likely outcome and that Rangers “will continue as a football club”. Given that they don’t know the extent of Rangers’ current debt, don’t know what the HMRC bill may be, don’t know, either, what the situation is with the club’s assets and who actually owns them then it is a total puzzler as to how they can be so confident of anything right now. Craig Whyte has retreated for the moment. The advice would be that he keeps retreating until he’s away in the distance – and then he should turn on his heels and leg it. But he won’t. He firmly believes he has nothing to apologise for, that everything he has done has been in the best interests of the club. If his grand plan was to torch creditors and re-establish Rangers in a debt-free world he reckoned without the damage it would cause to the credibility of the club and the vengeance that might be visited upon him by supporters who now wear the colours of a humiliated institution. There is no way Whyte can lead this club forward. He is about as welcome at Ibrox as Sir David Murray, a man whose way of facing up to his own culpability in the ruination of Rangers is to go to ground.

So many people share the blame, but instead of humility at Rangers we get the objectionable attempt to slip the millionaire Cousin in the front door while preparing to usher the redundant out the back.

I wonder if he will be as critical of Hearts (re)signing Danny Wilson?

BTW, if folk are that bothered about how the SFA and/or the SPFL have handled this, why not contact the vice president of the SFA?

How does unnecessarily increasing the wage bill fit with the Administrators' objectives of obtaining the best deal for their shareholders? I think they're taking a chance ( it won't work ) that this news will somehow boost ticket sales. "Technically" they've done nothing wrong. The players registration is transferred between clubs during the loan period. The contracts are a different matter. When he came to hertz there would be a contract between the clubs but no contract between hertz and Wilson. I don't think the SFA need to see the interclub contract and any terms in there would be irrelevant. However, normally, his registration should have been returned to Liverpool at the end of the Scottish season and he would have officially been their player until today and unable to sign for hertz as they're now embargoed.

So let me get this right. HMFC (IA) are able to run up a c£25-£30m core debt, stop paying wages, HMRC, police, training landlords, council and any other business they got services from.

They can exit without notice and payment , 14 members of staff and threaten other players they need to make pay cut.

They can continue not to pay any wages or any past debt (protected) while every other club has bills to pay.

Then Gary Locke goes on radio saying they have been punished enough, doesn't expect to get a transfer embargo and hopes he can bring lots of new players In August.

And now in advance lf that, any CVA etc they can sign a Scottish internationalist, a player the rest of Scottish football can't afford (except Celtic and even allowing for 50% pay cut).

Is that the some total of it?

Why will they get a transfer embargo lifted when the old rangers or dunfermline never?

While Hearts may not be 'breaking' any rules by doing this, what are BDO up to? How does adding another expense to a club that they claimed had zero in the back lead to a better result for the creditors?

It's not the point whether he is good or crap, it's morally wrong that this can happen. It's staggering the silence that has come from the SPL and SFA since those grunts went into administration.

Rangers got a transfer embargo that wasn't whilst Dunfermline are an SFL club so the SFA weren't scared to come down on them. They like to show the little teams they can act tough.

Old rangers, embargo was a piece of nonsense. It started in September 2012 meaning they could sign players up to that date. They're signing players now and will play them as trialists! Is it not the rule though that while a club is in administration they can't sign players? The rangers weren't in administration, they started again. I think for what you're suggesting basically hearts need to come out of administration before the transfer window slams shut?

The SFA sanction is still to be issued and is over and above the automatic embargo for entering administration under SPL rules.

Can't see what anyone is bothered about with Wilson, they seemed to have used a technicality to retain his registration and the Yams seem to think they have "won a watch".

They are still in for a huge fall, this will just make it funnier and they couldn't beat us last season with Wilson in a better side than they have now, they're still doomed to relegation, if they survive that long. :yw:

I know they were. I'm not sure why as they were a new company/club, but this was over and above the automatic punishment for the old company going into administration. Were the rules not lapsed as if they never then the new club wouldn't have had any players?

Doesn't change my other point that i think for hearts to be able to sign players they have to come out of administration which i think is unlikely this summer.

In all honesty I wish them all the suffering and humiliationthat the Romorov era has brought them however we do have to be careful for whatwe wish for , I think the 15 point deduction for this season will be ample to put them down, then next season they will be up against Rangers for promotion so in all likelihood they will spend 2 years out with the SPL , regardless I believe this may not seem punishment enough in the eyes of some people but can we as a club afford to miss revenue from 4 home derby’s over the next 2 seasons this ontop of the revenues we are missing from Rangers, we don’t want to cut off ourown nose to spite our face!

Hearts have not broken any rules in this signing, it is seemingly completely legal.
You can't blame them for doing anything to sign a player out of desperation as they know they are doomed for relegation, its more a case of a wounded animal which is trying every last trick and energy source to survive and wriggle free.

Sure, there are significant moral implications of this signing given their recent and fairly high-profile redundancies of non-playing staff. However, as all of us know, they are a club who have no honour, no morals, no class and no hope. They will get whats coming to them, this is just one of many desperate attempts to come over the next few weeks. By galvanising the hearts support and giving them a glimmer of hope, it may boost their revenue that slight bit further, however I doubt it and reckon this will just hinder them further in the longrun as they must cut wages, not add in the slightest!!

How bad must things be for Wilson that he is still happy to sign for them. A few years ago he was playing for Scotland and on verge of move to big premiership club, now he must have no other offers and has fallen down the footballing tree so spectacularly he is signing for a club in administration and starting bottom of the SPL by 15 points.

probably not but it's the fact that they can always find a way round a situation like this one whilst the controlling body stares at its navel that encourages them to keep doing it. People have lost their job and the SFA/SPL stand idly by whilst they keep doing it because they can. Wilson is not the issue, fallen a very long way very quickly.

They will argue they are adding value to the club for any potential buyer and have a player with a potential sell on value on a 3 year contract.

As I said in a prior post I agree with you but think that goes beyond BDO's remit.

Im not sure what the extension period is, I know original deal was 3 years but have not seen anything this time round. I suspect Wilson was given a decent wedge for signing a few weeks ago & Yams may have been seeking it back.

Not sure about that bit.

If it squeezes an extra half-mill out of a buyer, then they will say it's justified. That was D&P's justification for retaining so many players at Rangers. On the other hand, it adds to the wage bill. If they don't make another player redundant, it might make a buyer reduce their offer as they will need more for working capital.

The problem is BDO can't possibly know, it's pure speculation. Right now Wilson has very limited value as it seems there was no queue to sign him. You have to think it would take at least 1 full season of outstanding performances for Wilson's value to increase. By that time as you infer, the current shareholders may have changed & profit would accrue to new owners but I don't see new bidders suddenly appearing or a bid becoming higher because DW is a Yam.

Don't know what all the fuss is about, Wilson is average if he was any good a decent club would have signed him, what did he do last season, not a lot.

Lets face it we have signed their most promising young player.

Wilson can drain even more from their coffers if he wants.

I'm sure all the other teams will be terrified of a central defence of McGowan & Wilson.

I wouldn't even care less if Zaliukas & Webster stayed.

So would I, TBH.

I'm trying to get into the thinking behind it. Someone on the other thread said that they could afford it because of Sutton being punted, and that makes sense.

Sutton was supposedly on £3K per week and £3K per appearance. BDO offered him half of that to stay, but he rejected and went to Motherwell (for less, as it happens). That meant their budget had the "Sutton" wage spare. As soon as that was formalised they offered it instead to Wilson and he took it.

The idea is obviously to make the club more attractive to buyers. There is the risk of the SFA or the SPFL imposing a fixed term transfer embargo, which would prevent them strengthening the squad much even once out of administration. He was the only player they could sign so it made sense to take advantage of the situation. It's also good for morale, signing a player they thought they had lost, at a relatively low outlay (one player wage). Ironically, the same was true of when they "signed" him the first time (late May) when they hoped that would bolster ST sales and avert financial problems. They will be hoping it works out better this time.

I then reminded him that if his team manages to sell enough players and season tickets to make it to a derby at Easter Road we're going to put ten past them. If they lose two out of Holt, Walker and McDonald then they'll struggle to make zero points, they really have nothing else.

The 'signing' of Wilson is literally within the rules but is morally repugnant given the debts and redundancies.

I'm going to stick my neck out and say it'll go against them when it comes to deciding on their punishments for non-payment of wages. I would like to think that the powers-that-be will be annoyed that HMFC have flouted the rules and shown the league in a bad light (again).

Agreed, but it didn't work last time when it really was original news, rather than regurgitated. I really would be astonished if it made any significant difference this time. Like others I'm not concerned re the signing, only by the immorality of the whole affair.

If some spiv buys the Hearts player's contracts after liquidation is that clown Doncaster going to call them a "continuation" as with Sevco? Doncaster, the man who rewrote UK insolvency law out of cowardice.

It is but I thought administrators didnt speculate and looked after the creditors, like Duff and Phelps did.

At least they havent with Dunfermline when they let a large number of players go that could have kept them in the 1st division. At Hearts they seem to getting them ready for the season ahead.

Whats different here?

What's changed? Surely an advance from Wonga and signing Wilson hasn't really changed much.

If no bids arrive by the 12th then they are still well humped. A CVA isn't the foregone conclusion they think.

I suppose they may as well think and act positively because the alternative is too horrible to contemplate. What's more, they could be right this time, if a group (most likely the McKie one) offers enough to satisfy the Lithuanian authorities. Nobody really knows if this will be the case or not. It's not something that can be easily predicted in the way that their insolvency was. What they have done is avert the immediate crisis and prevented the club from shutting down completely due to a lack of cash. Irrespective of whether this 3000 target is met or not.

Not a lot really. BDO have got the costs (players) of both clubs down to what they think is an affordable level. It's just that Hearts can afford more because they're a bigger club and are in the top division. It's also worth bearing in mind that Hearts got rid of several players before they went into administration. The old regime anticipated bringing in several players (eg1 Boyd, eg2 Goodwillie) to replenish the squad, but administration has prevented that.

This is where football is different I suppose. The money saved could have gone to the creditors but they have chose, instead, to sign another player and the argument for this, being speculated upon here, is that it may increase the value of the club, make it more attractive to a buyer or increase the sales of seasons tickets.

My question would now be how do they quantify any of those things?

Something smells worse than usual down gorgie way. All IMO of course.

BDO was appointed by the main creditor, who must surely have given them an indication of what sort of offer would be acceptable. They've also met with the main potential bidders.

Can't believe BDO would be going through all of this short term cash-raising if there was little/no chance of a bid being accepted.

I've been thinking that myself. There would surely be an issue - a moral one, at least - with asking the maroon hoardes to chuck their money into the abyss, if BDO knew it was pointless.

And then I have a cup of tea, give myself a shake, and remember that watching Hearts limping and crawling through the league next year will more than make up for any temporary disappointment I may feel.

That doesn't mean it's a racing certainty, either.

From the Lithuanians' point of view, the best outcome is that somebody comes forward with a good offer (ie the land value of the property) to continue Hearts as a going concern, because it negates any hassle from people who would resist Hearts being shut down. Therefore they have to put the club on a reasonably solid footing by reducing costs, which they did, and then make it as attractive to buyers as possible within those limits, which they are also doing.

If they just cut everything out of sight, got rid of all the experienced players and had a squad of kids, nobody other than FOH would want to buy it. This would be self-defeating and they would have been just as well liquidating on day one. What they have done is maintained some outside interest, which they hope will lead to a good enough offer being made. The problems get worse for Hearts if all of the offers fall well short of the land value of the property.

Any wages spent on Wilson (that were earmarked for Sutton anyway) wouldn't have gone to the creditors as at the date Hearts entered administration. The funds that go to creditors will come from however much the buyer is willing to pay. The wages that Wilson is paid will have to be generated from the income the club earns during (and possibly after) administration.

I can understand why folk may be suspicious of their activities and motives given the way they have been administered in recent years, but folk have to realise that those responsible are no longer involved directly. They are now in an effort to survive. It's up to BDO to assess whether a deal helps to achieve this objective.

A complete waste of your time. If BDO have reason to believe signing Wilson will help in attracting an offer that is acceptable to the creditors, then BDO will have acted in the best interests of the creditors.

As PTS says, their belief is that they ARE working on behalf of the creditors. Any complaint by you might be best left until after the administration is complete, so that you can see the whole picture.

And, point of order, they haven't increased the costs. They have, apparently, replaced one player (Sutton) with another, who is probably cheaper.

My thinking is that those involved will be thinking along the lines of a consortium bid for control with FoH funding the monthly costs for the coming season.

This would give BDO hope that there could be a deal struck.

The problems for this though would be all parties agreeing, and I suspect that this would be close to impossible. The McKie group have stated that they want out of administration before the start of the season, to strengthen the side and avoid relegation. FoH have no real idea how much they will actually have, or for how long. FoH will want a level of fan control for their support, would a consortium allow this?

So it's possible that BDO will be holding out hope for a deal, but it is going to require a lot of boxes to be ticked before it actually happens.

have ha ha hearts got danny wilson back ?

I read SPFL's "explanation" about Danny Wilson last night, and it makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. They are claiming it is a contract extension, and so allowed despite the transfer embargo, but it is not - surely, it is a new contract, due to start today, replacing the loan agreement Hearts had with Liverpool?

Of course the Yams will crow about this and good luck to them, but I would like to see them explain how a new contract between Hearts and Danny Wilson only is in any way an extension of an agreement between Hearts and Liverpool FC.

They even renegotiated his wages.
