Surely they were 'informed' by the media running the story. Surely Hearts should have to fess up before it's all over the press?

I love moments like these. When Hearts got beat at Murrayfield by AEK, on another forum I not only laughed at the manner of the defeat, but at the fact that AEK had as many shots on goal as Germany had when they defeated San Marino 13-0 the week before. A Jambo retorted that Gretna would undoubtedly knock us out of the League Cup at ER the following week, and that we would have "another trophyless season" (followed by about a million smilies).
Of course we beat Gretna 6-0, before beating Hearts at ER on the way to winning 5-1 in the final against Killie. The aforementioned post was dug out with glee :greengrin

As much as I love winding them up about going bust I would prefer if they stayed alive but are the type of team who flutter between bottom SPL and middle of 1st division.
I love the Derbys and I have some good friends and family who are decent yams. They understand the position hearts are in and they knew this day would come but there was little they could do to stop it.
Man city, Chelsea, PSG, anzi and Malaga will all go the same way one day I believe. these teams can't justify the amount they are throwing at the player, agents and management.

http://local.stv.tv/edinburgh/198880-hearts-face-winding-up-order-from-hmrc-over-unpaid-tax-bill/ Heart of Midlothian FC faces a winding up order from HM Revenue and Customs over an unpaid tax bill.
The tax authority presented a petition to the Court of Session in Edinburgh to place the SPL club into liquidation earlier this month.
It is understood that the Tynecastle club is facing the action from HMRC over unpaid PAYE and National Insurance dating back several months, which is separate from their ongoing troubles with the tax authority.
The latest dispute with the tax authority comes as Hearts are challenging a £1.75m bill at the First Tier Tax Tribunal relating to players loaned to the club by Lithuanian club FBK Kaunas, which is also owned by Vladimir Romanov.
HMRC presented the petition to the court on November 1 and Hearts have eight days to respond starting from this Tuesday, when the notice of the winding up order was published in the Edinburgh Gazette.
Hearts recently launched a fans’ share issue for a 10% stake in the club, which the board denies would be used to raise around £1.79m in order to pay off its tax debt.
In January, HMRC lodged a separate winding up order against Hearts with the Court of Session, which resulted in the club paying off another tax bill.
The tax authority also took similar actions in November and December last year.
I reckon this is a wind up.

Ah but the most recent winding up order has nothing to do with the tax bil, this is for non payment of PAYE and NI and completely seperate, the hits just keep on coming.
So a tax bill for £1.8m, NI/paye, no games until 17th and players wages due on 16th!!!
I genuinely cannot see how on earth they are getting out of this one!!

"Meanwhile, it is understood Hearts are unlikely to face any immediate sanctions from the Scottish Premier League over the non-payment of tax.
The only sanction for not paying HM Revenue Customs on time is a registration embargo and the club already have this sanction in place for the late payment of salaries to players. (http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20071241)
The SPL have been informed and could take further action if payment is not paid within the eight-day deadline"

Heart of Midlothian plc (the "Club") today wishes to make supporters and potential share offer investors aware of this most recent financial matter for their consideration in conjunction with the Share Offer 2012 brochure.
The Club has been served with an Order to wind up Heart of Midlothian plc by the Court of Session on behalf of the Commissioners For Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs (the "Petition").
The Club is, however, endeavouring to agree a suitable payment plan with HMRC for the outstanding amount of £449,692.04. It should be made clear that this has only recently been presented to Heart of Midlothian. The Petition is unrelated to the Club's potential liabilities included in the Risk Factors section of the Share Offer 2012 brochure.
The Board is hopeful that a suitable agreement can be reached with HMRC to provide a suitable repayment plan.
A Club spokesperson said: "We have guaranteed future revenues from forthcoming games and related broadcast income as well as additional guaranteed transfer income which will more than cover the outstanding amount stated in this Petition. We would therefore be hopeful that HMRC will accept that winding up the Club would be totally unnecessary."
The Club is revealing the Petition as it wants to continue being transparent in all its dealings with supporters and potential investors.

Porkies.
The nature of PAYE and VAT is that they are self-accounted. From month to month, the company knows exactly how much it is due in those taxes. It is the COMPANY that tells HMRC how much it is due, not the other way around.
And, IIRC, they already had a payment plan in place for past debts.

Two points from this:
1. When they've been served with petitions in the past, Hearts normally put up a statement saying that they've either paid it already or that the cheque's in the post. That isn't the case here.
2. Pleading for time to pay isn't going to wash with HMRC, given their history of late payment.

I think I misread... this is from the Hearts "prospectus", which of course is no gospel:-
The rules of the SPL and SFA prohibit anyone from owning shares in more than one of their member clubs without their consent.
So, the players could play for someone else, whilst still owning shares in HMFC. Bizarre.

What they don't say is that the outstanding bill(s) shouldn't need to be paid from future income. It should have already been paid, only they've spent money that wasn't theirs in the first place (particularly VAT). This is why HMRC don't muck about with these things - a couple of warnings and then it's straight to litigation.

Yeah until the next time. HMRC have the taste of blood still in their throat from the Rangers demise and may not feel disposed to doing deals with clubs who could fold without paying their PAYE.

As I say, AFAIK there is already an instalment plan in place. If HMFC kept to it, then this action wouldn't have been necessary.
And, they are not "saddling a loss making company with more debt". The debt already exists, and was established whenever they "paid" their staff or took money at the gate.

Oh. My. God.
This is it. It really is.
Today the Board of Heart of Midlothian plc is writing to you with the express wish that every supporter provides emergency backing for the club.
This is not so much a request as a necessity.
To use the words yesterday of John Robertson, one of the greatest players in this club's history, this is a "Call to Arms".
There is no greater need than now for supporters to invest in the club in whichever way you can, without delay. How can you do this?
1. Invest in the Share Issue! Take time to look at the Share Offer brochure and give some thought to what you might be able to afford to commit to the Offer. There are risks, we know, and these are laid out clearly so be very sure this is right for you before committing but please at least consider it.
2. Buy a ticket for you and a friend for the St Mirren game next weekend (Saturday 17th November KO 3pm)! We currently have 4,700 available seats for this game and we must fill the stadium for every game from now on to have any chance of avoiding future financial consequences.
3. Buy a ticket for you and a friend for the Celtic game on 28th November. It's always a cracking atmosphere under the floodlights at Tynecastle and we will welcome the champions for what we expect to be a cracking game. Let's fill the stadium and help the club continue to operate.
4. Buy a ticket for you and a friend for the Aberdeen game on 8th December. Aberdeen has already requested additional capacity as they vie for top spot in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League and this could squeeze availability for home fans. However, we want to look after our own fans and if demand from you is there, then we will make the Roseburn Stand available once again to Hearts fans.
Without the support of fans there is, as we issue this note, a real risk that Heart of Midlothian Football Club could possibly play its last game next Saturday, 17 November against St Mirren.
This isn't a bluff, this isn't scaremongering, this is reality.
Discussions on whose name is above the door, talk about how the money has been spent and debate on whether the investment in silverware has been appropriate is all natural but quite simply worthless at this moment in time.
The only valid debate now is how can you help the club. Is the club worth less than £110?
This club has been supported for the last seven years by generous funding from the majority shareholding business Ukio Banko Investicine Grupe (UBIG) and we continue to seek the support of UBIG at this stage. However, no business is immune to the financial realities of the current global economy and for this reason the club's reliance on its supporters is greater than at any point in the last seven years.
Our partners, our opponents, media, football bodies, many others - all are watching and judging how we will respond to the challenge. If we cannot demonstrate that we are united and we represent a force then there will be no due respect to the club from anyone around.
Without your help now, we could be entering the final days of the club's existence. There are limited options for the Board of Directors to take to avoid the catastrophic consequences that a funding shortfall would mean for the club.
In a footballing sense alone Hearts will suffer an immediate 17-point penalty. This would just be the start of a painful process that will affect every one of us and could lead to far more damaging actions that threaten the very existence of the club.
The power is still in the hands of every Hearts supporter and for that reason we want to be as honest and transparent with you in the hope that you, too, believe that this club is worth saving.
Now please make every effort you can to take any or all of the four steps outlined above and help this great sporting institution survive.
The Ticket Centre is open between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday and from 10am on a weekend matchday. You can book and buy tickets by phoning 0871 663 1874.
For information on the Share Offer contact the Share Offer Manager on 0131 200 7215 or 0131 200 7270.
On HeartsTV today, an exclusive interview with first team coach Gary Locke, plus highlights of an excellent victory over St Mirren for the U20s.

They can't be relegated if they go bust mid-season. Isuppose if Vlad put them into administration, the SPL may be persuaded to financially prop up a rump Hearts squad until the end of the season as they did with Gretna.
That would make little sense to Vlad given the cost of administration draining away the few assets Hearts have. It looks like straight to liquidation unless UBIG can come up with the cash.

Nope, you can still have a look in... they're managing to drum up some support:
Christ. No half measures now, pumping a grand in tomorrow. **** Romanov.
Assuming this is real, they only need another 1,789 fans to do likewise and they'll be able to settle the outstanding debt with HMRC.
Then there's the £400k or so needed to get rid of the winding-up order.
Then there's cash needed to keep going til January, and hope they can get rid of half their squad to bring the wage bill down.
Good luck Yams!

Without your help now, we could be entering the final days of the club's existence. There are limited options for the Board of Directors to take to avoid the catastrophic consequences that a funding shortfall would mean for the club.
So this is how big clubs operate these days. Who'd have thunk it.

Hearts are like an annoying stain on one of your good shirts.
You try and try to get rid of it and sometimes it looks like it is disappearing but it will always be there just a little be fainter and faded than before.
They are so jammy that I just can't see them going under, certainly not by 17th November. They will wriggle out this some how. One of their fans will win the euro millions or something.
Maybe they'll see out the season and be in the third division as a new co next season.
PS - I'd love to see them shafted as much as the next man but lets not get too excited about it till it actually happens otherwise we could look very silly. Trust me, the satisfaction and smug comments will feel much better if/when the end is confirmed!

Want to see us beat them at least once before they die ffs so I'd rather they stayed in the SPL and finished around 11th-10th every season only for us to absolutely **** them in all 3 games we played each time. In a footballing sense alone Hearts will suffer an immediate 17-point penalty.
