I know there was a protest at 1 p.m. Good on them, sometimes civil disobedience is justified, providing it's peaceful. The Glazers deserve it.

....... as long as it’s socially distanced, which it won’t be.

FA Trophy final for 2020 currently playing. Harrogate Town v Concord Rangers at Wembley.

This is last seasons final of course when Harrogate were a non league club so could become the first league club to win the trophy. The odds stacked heavily against Concord Rangers (who I think come from Canvey Island) they havent played a game since February and are two levels below Harrogate who are a League two club and have been playing regularly. Be some feat if Concord could pull this off. 13 minutes gone 0-0 (on BT1 if anyone needs a footy fix). Wembley is empty, I believe when this years Trophy final is played in a few weeks time it is test event with fans allowed in.

Glad I caught your post as I cut BT but it’s on Freeview. I do enjoy my Non League and it’s a real shame they couldn’t get some fans in. I see Hebburn edged out Consett in the Vase final earlier and the EBAC league folks had campaigned hard to get folk at that too.

0-0 at half time, bl00dy good effort from Concord (who after a bit of swatting up on are apparently named after a beach on Canvey Island and have the nickname the Beach Boys, Essex is hardly California but there you go :greengrin)

I took in the Hebburn Consett match, was a good game especially the first half. Two Asian twins, one playing for each team and one up front and the other in defence so they so a lot of each other, that must be unique, what a day for their family.

I don’t think reading the teams to see how loan players are doing counts as in the know to be honest.

I work with a Dunfermline fan too so tend to pay a bit more attention to them to keep up with his chat.

I assume what you really mean is I am being critical of Murray and yes, as far as his Hibs career goes I am. Don’t think he can save his Hibs career by being a regular sub for Dunfermline.

Yeah but to the Super league argument or even moving to franchises in the future then this is it in action already. PSG pretty much the same.

This current club has pretty much nothing to do with what Man City have been throughout their history.

This is true, but what can we do? There will always be big, rich clubs but we're now at the stage of two state owned clubs, drowning in oil money, are playing semi-finals. The next step is something like the Super League. That idea isn't dead; the clubs are biding their time to try again in a different guise.

It was a PLC before. The Glazers bought up the shares required to have control. Only they borrowed the money to buy the shares then transferred the debt onto the club. Why that should be allowed is a very good question, but it's the super wealthy who also make the rules of the financial game.

I suppose it depends what people mean by overrated. Perhaps the money the EPL spends on players/contracts is overrated when compared against leagues that don’t pay as much. You will still get EPL teams reaching later stages of Euro comps as they have good players (they should have considering money spent) .

You might have better players and a better product but is it X times better when you compare the cost against other similar products? Put simply, we know that the EPL football is better than SPFL but if you pay someone £250k plus a week are you getting that much better a product than us paying someone £4K a week? It’s all relative.

I’ve not explained myself very well probably and I will add that Man City and the likes are very good teams to watch.

the football on show in that league is certainly not overrated. It’s absolutely world class.

The EPL definitely has more strength in depth than any other league. La Liga, partly due to Barcelona and Real Madrid taking the majority of the TV money for themselves, is less competitive. Atletico have done brilliantly to keep themselves in the mix for a few years now, given their financial disadvantage. The massive money Sky pay for EPL rights is distributed far more equally (part of the reason the six English clubs wanted to break away to a Super League) which means there is a better standard of competition. The bottom teams in the EPL are still decent sides that can beat the top teams on a given day. In the past few seasons Man City, Chelsea, Leicester, Liverpool have all won the title. That's a competitive league, surely.

That ship has sailed, mate, and will never happen. UEFA (and many fans) want the best team in Europe's top competition. The second best team in England is a far better side than the champions of Austria or Sweden. It's a stronger competition under the current format.

Furthermore, if anything, the big clubs want it to be even more selective i.e. the Super League nonsense. They don't want to have to deal with anyone but comparable wealthy clubs. They want to move irrecoverably away from the old European Cup football.

Valencia are only just outwith the relegation zone in La Liga. It’s a myth that there isn’t the depth there, bottom teams regularly get results against the top sides. Absolutely no worse than the bottom end of the Premiership.

Valencias owner is actively sabotaging the club and stripping it for assets. Not really a good Example

On a non Hibs game point - I noticed that Chris Maxwell has had 21 clean sheets for Blackpool this season - I have to confess I never saw those sort of stats in him..great achievement ..

He was a good keeper. Some didn't take to him because he wasn't Rocky (the same is happening with Macey) others because he had long hair and a hairband.

Our terrible time with keepers from the Mowbray/Collins eras have scarred us to have an instant fear of most keepers.

I always liked Maxwell too. Distribution was very good, could ping it deep and wide. But fairly bonkers he now has a good chance of topping all four English leagues for clean sheets this season. Never saw that coming. I’d imagine he must have a good back 4 in front of him also

They’re still capable of beating the big guns. Hammered Real, drew with Barca. It’s still a very competitive league.

Aye, I'm not talking down La Liga, which is a great league, but I don't think it has the strength in depth of the EPL.

Outside 6 teams in England the rest really aren’t very good which considering the monetary advantage they have is surprising. Burnley couldn’t even qualify for the Europa League proper recently. I’m doubting even your Eibar’s and the likes would fail to do that. Tonight is a 19 million a year wage bill v 220 million!

Got to admit when United signed Cavani I wasn't sure, suspected him to be past his best and collecting a last big paycheck at a big Club. Couldnt have been more wrong I think the guy has been a revelation at United this season. Top pro and his movement and finishing both still top drawer. Made a bigger impact for me than Zlatan.

Aye, he's still a class act. A proper old fashioned number nine: strong, great in the air and a shot like cannon.

Don't honestly know what good firing him would do? They've needed major surgery for a while and any new guy would inherit the same squad which just isn't good enough with maybe a couple of exceptions.....

Should really bin Arteta now and give a new manager the most time possible to rebuild. Or you really have to trust Arteta and let him make his own squad. Disasterous result tonight.

I think Tierney has been a massive loss. With him, they looked genuinely pretty good. He brings a lot to the side down the left, and clearly mentally as well.

Casually racist memes about him pronouncing things aside, Unai Emery's record in the Europa league is amazing. Deserves more credit.

I’d stick with him and let him continue the clear out as I think he could be a very good manager. Although he’d have little argument if they do sack him.

Arsenal's owners need to go with him. Like the Glazers at Man United, Kroenke is only interested in making money from Arsenal. Another America owner with no interest in football or understanding of the supporters. He has allowed Arsenal to slip into mediocrity.

I would find that highly pleasing, and of course anything is possible in a cup final, but Chelsea will need to play out of their skins to beat City, and the same goes for Villarreal against United.
