The Bailly one was blatent for me too

That is an effin disgrace for Man U. If Ole doesn't resign immediately he should be dismissed.

Always liked the guy and he was part of a fantastic United side but he's clearly way out of his depth.

The longer this goes on the more it hammers home what an extraordinary football manager Alex Ferguson was.

I don't think Spurs will win the league but they are looking better than Man City, Leicester, Man United and Chelsea at the moment.

In terms of the players mentioned, they honestly remind me of Liverpool's midfield when Klopp took over. Would anyone have bet on Jordan Henderson being a Champions League winner? Or Wijnaldum when he was at Newcastle in 2016?

Like Liverpool, the Spurs midfield have power, aggression and are good all rounders. They are there to allow the front 3 to play, and I would say Son, Kane and Bale is up there with Salah, Firmino and Mane.

Fair play mate, those are all good points!

Arsenal are my English team so I'm just a tad biased :greengrin

They finished last season in as high a position as they probably could.

Ferguson’s teams got some hammerings too. I think he deserves time because just repeatedly changing manager is not working.

The Board need to deliver some actual quality players.

Don’t blame OGS, the problems at United are far deeper than him. Ed Woodward is the face of the United disaster. Put an investment accountant in charge of signing players and this sort of thing will happen.

No doubt that OGS will be blamed and sacrificed just like Moyes, Van Gaal and Mourinho before him.

Napoli were sat on the runway apparently when the decision came through that they weren't allowed to travel. However, Serie A didn't call the game off so Juve continued with their preparations.

Load of nonsense. He wasn't stereotyping all latin players, he was saying certain things are part of the game in Latin countries more than here, which is a fair observation. He did also clarify that he had played in Italy and so he has first hand experience to compare.

Football is different in different leagues and some ways of playing and some behaviours are more part of some leagues than others. I don't believe it is offensive to polnt that out.

Exactly.

Without even leaving the England national team, Dele, Kane, Rashford, Grealish, Sterling and Maddison have all been caught diving - yet for some reason there still exists this sense of British arrogance that simulation is beneath us. Nonsense.

I'd rather it wasn't part of football altogether, but to label it as being inherently part of a specific region, rather than just football itself, is wrong.

Yes it has crept into our game more and more in my lifetime.
However it was rare 30 years ago when it was commo place in places like Italian and South American football.

I think that is fair he has played in Italy and his experience will reflect it however to not then say it was widespread all over the world was wrong imo. The way he said it was as if British football was better than that which of course it isn't especially when you have players like Sterling diving about 5 times a game. Crass way of putting it and the apology was merited imo.

On the Souness debate, is he not talking about the way Lamela went down rather than a “dive” as such. British players are as likely as anyone else to dive for a penalty. I remember Michael Owen tying himself in knots to justify a pretty blatant dive by Rashford not that long ago.

I’d still agree that going down like you’ve been shot after that slap, while not unique to them, that kind of gamesmanship is something generally more prevalent in South America than Britain, or elsewhere.

He also wasn’t saying it didn’t happen here. He said it had crept in to the game here too. His comments were also more about the acceptance of it being part of the game. I think it is certainly true that there isn’t a second thought in some countries to this whereas we still tend to have a debate about it being wrong.

Before theses antics became common place in UK football we had seen them in European and international matches. The latin and south American teams were the worst offenders (even the Brazilians were not averse to a coordinated simulation)). The growing number of players taking their services abroad with the freedom of movement legislation meant that, because they got away with a lot of it, it got copied more and more by our own players.

Expect to learn nothing, however the game turns out. It's not so long ago that some people here had concluded that Doidge and Newell were duds based on what were being treated as pre-season friendlies. I'd say the same applies with the lower league sides at this stage of their season. The amount of games Hearts already have under their belts should stand them in better stead than ICT who have played (I think) one match but even if it's a resounding home win it will mean nothing in terms of the league campaign.

Agreed and in saying that there’s still a cup to play for. Some of the stick Doidge got from one or two on here this time last year was close to the end of this wee forum for me, it was appalling. He went from being “raped” by the Alloa defence to having no real right to buy a bottle of wine in Morrisons

It was scandalous. But I’m sure he was an Asda man 😀

Plenty attacking intent so far. Not a bad opening 15 minutes of the season.

If this was the first football match I'd watched, I'd have taken up rugby or tennis instead. An embarrassingly bad impression of a football team are Hearts.

Reading their match thread on KB. They’re wetting themselves at John Robertson’s Hearts allegiance in his pre-match interview where apparently he finished with an “only Hearts” gesture. I wouldn’t be too happy about that if I had the misfortune to support ICT.:greengrin

If this is the standard that Hearts come up against, they will be in for a wee surprise when they play a team that doesnt shell it aimlessly from the back to front.

ICT are mince and being honest, I would want 4 against them tonight.

God imagine having a Hearts calendar on your kitchen wall and Aidy White is the November picture.

Face that would make an onion greet.

Stephen Craigan has a bizzare love in with the yams. Very strange...

Would you mind providing me with the contact details of your dealer? Because that's some good **** you're on if you think this is a good game :na na:

I've never seen two more horribly incompetent teams sharing a field. 6 is the most amount of consecutive passes I've counted before either side gives the ball away or a free kick is awarded.
