My dad was one of 3 left in our Last Man Standing this week, the other 2 took Chelsea yesterday. He was on Spurs today for the win for £620...absolute sickener.

Ouch that's a sore one!

No. Clumsy, mis-timed tackle ..... nothing else, in my opinion.

It may not have been intentional, but it was reckless and he badly injured an opponent. A red all day IMO.

I think he knew what he was doing. There's no way that was just a clumsy tackle, he came out to land one on VVD and he succeeded. He obviously wouldn't aim to cause him a serious injury but it looked to me he wanted to clatter him and he did.

To be fair VVD let a couple “know he was there” early doors too.

If an outfield player jumped in like that it would have been a red ,don’t see why goalies are different

We started a new one this weekend, about 50 of us, there are now only 5 people left after the majority chose Spurs, Chelsea, Liverpool and Sheffield Utd.

Think you are in the same one as me. Had a shocker.

Villa have made some excellent signings that solve all the problems they had last season. They've now got a decent keeper, a settled back 4, Barkley is a really good signing and they've got striker that scores goals. Plus SJM and Grealish. Looking good.

It's perfect for them to be honest. It shows such a fine line in that league though. A couple of 1-0 wins at the end of last season can now let them build a fantastic young hungry side instead of being dismantled and kicking about the Championship.

Watching Grealish more closely this season he is a fantastic player. McGinn is also one of their best players. We are going to make a fortune off him.

Undoubtedly so. Albeit tonight he wasn't at his most productive. One of those nights where he tried to take on that one player too many and the chance was gone. Wasn't his best but still always involved wanting the ball and running at the defence. Every other Aston Villa player was on their game though including SJM and they deserved their win especially the second half performance where they dominated most of the match. Leicester were hard to break down and it took an excellent strike from Barkley to win it. Grealish is without doubt a top class player though.

The match wouldn't have been on TV if fans had been allowed though. It's no different to having paid £15 to watch Ross County v Hibs yesterday.

The only people who should be annoyed are Newcastle season ticket holders but I think I read that Premier League clubs are refunding fans for every game that they are unable to attend in person although I'm not 100% on that.

I take that back, it seems as if season ticket holders are not necessarily being refunded and are also not getting these games for free.

The £14.95 fee is fair enough for non-season ticket holders, away fans and any neutrals but not for season ticket holders after they have already shelled out for a season ticket.

Barkley, Grealish and McGinn is a great midfield for Villa. Douglas Luiz offers them that protection too. I thought they would struggle again this season but they have recruited well.

Is it 10-15% we get with St Mirren getting a share of that? I think Villa will get at least £40m for McGinn if he keeps improving. If we can get another £4-5m on top of the money we have already received that’s a decent earner for ourselves.

Totally agree with you. They look a far more organised settled team this season with the four players you named playing starring roles. i also really like their defenders Ming and the left back Matt Targett who bombs up and down the left side and puts his body on the line at vital moments. The whole team are playing really well though as a unit that their position fully illustrates. An entertaining side to watch especially when Grealish and SJM are playing well.

Goalkeeper has been brilliant since he has come in too. I thought he did enough to keep his place in the Arsenal team the end of last season.

Exactly. We won’t be great every week. We will be slow out the blocks some weeks. We will be inconsistent. But to say we can only dream about fast starts and putting teams away early is amusing.

2-0 vs killie in half an hour.
0-3 vs livi in 40.
0-2 vs st mirren in 15.
Scored after 20 minutes against rangers.
2-0 in 35 against Hamilton.
Put all that together with Boyle taking his chances on Saturday first half and that would be strong starts in more than half our games.

Not a chance Everton will challenge for the title, they lack any real depth in their squad of real quality beyond their best starting eleven. They are definitely on the rebuild to maybe something special but miles away from having the squad to stay on top. Great start though.

Arsenal are desperately missing Ozil honestly. Arteta has sorted the defence and made them more solid (despite that horrendous error they've just had :greengrin ) but jesus, they are poor going forward. Not creating anything.

Daft mistake from the usually brilliant leno. 1-0 Rapid.

Arteta should've sorted it out with Ozil and got him playing. Even 30 minutes every week would massively help. One of the most creative players of all time just sitting doing nothing at home.

Scientific stuff.

You are entitled to an opinion, but don't try to substantiate it by saying "a lot of Celtic fans think the same' when you have no evidence to support such a statement.

Celtic are currently 4 points behind Sevco with a game in hand, so it would appear both teams are producing near enough every week.

I see Lennon was doing his Lotto style team selection again, looked like 3511 or something similar, TBH I haven't a clue what tactics they play now but I do know Rangers are always 433 and the team knows exactly how to play it.

I don't know who will win the league, but stand by my original comment that Sevco will not win the league at a canter.

What?

Go on to Twitter. Go onto Kerrydale Street and read the thread on the match tonight, or Saturdays match or the thread on Neil Lennon. Their poll on Kerrydale Street at the end of the 18/19 season had 3% of them wanting Lennon permanently. Most of the posts now want him binned. Of course none of that is ‘scientific’ - I’m sure you don’t need me to tell you that opinions never are - but I’ll say it again, based on the fairly safe presumption that Celtic fans were pretty pleased with how it went under Rodgers then loads of Celtic fans think they’ve massively regressed. I’m not quite sure that can be debated if you actually have a look at Celtic fans opinions.

Rangers are ahead in the league having played the rest of the top 4 away whilst Celtic have played 2 of them at home. Rangers have strolled through qualification for the Europa League and won their first game away from home while Celtic got papped out Champs League qualification and are looking woefully out their depth in their first game. Rangers have had the far better start to the season imo.

Delightful - love seeing them getting beat.

They are a massive football club but they have been nothing short of terrible in Europe for years.

The reaction last year to beating Lazio (a great result) but by god you’d have thought they had won the whole competition. It was way over the top and for me was a reflection of where they now are. They have been regressing for years on a European stage. Other countries might be spending more now but I still think they should be doing better.

Lennon falls into their sad little man supporter base that would happily be embarrassed every second Thursday as long as they beat Rangers or put 5 or 6 past half the terrible teams in this league.

Yup. Again, something that has been pointed out alot tonight by Celtic fans. They feel Brown, McGregor and Duffy are set in stone and then the others are just picked out a hat. Judging by how much their team changes week on week it’s hard to argue.

Sure they just got more investment from some guy in Singapore. They sold 40,000 season tickets also and have the Parks buses guy pumping cash in. I don’t think they are as badly run as people make out.

Just as an aside, Celtic have spent circa £30M on transfer fees in the last couple of seasons. During that period they netted £24M for the sale of Kieran Tierney.

During the same period Sevco spent circa £20M and took in next to nothing.

Fairly sure their European run last season will be seeing them alright, including their investors. Wishful thinking to think they’re struggling financially again, especially when they are basically guaranteed a shot at the champions league next season, plus the fact that they seem to have their retail side sorted out as well.

Celtic still have a budget that dwarves Rangers’.

Been a different team since Rogic replaced Brown - Broonaldo looked utterly past it tonight - well off the pace and so many misplaced passes.

If you think twitter or a fans forum after an Old Firm match is going to be balanced after one half gets pumped by the other you've a lot learn.

Nobody is denying Sevco have improved but the question was/is do you think they will "win the league at a canter"?

In that case what about a poll straight after they won the league when only 3% of their fans wanted him appointed permanently?

I think Rangers will win the league quite comfortably - somewhere between 5 and 10 points.

Looks like he was on the lash for the last week...carrying a few extra pounds, looks rather immobile and seems rather unfit.

No where near the level of Ajer.

This is just not true.

The latest set of figures I can see state that in September 2019 (a year ago) the gap for average 1st team annual salaries was £895k versus £650k.

Couple that with the figures I provided previously that in the last 2 seasons Rangers have spent £20M (net) on transfers and Celtic £6M (net) then you begin to see that their respective budgets are not nearly as far apart as Sevco would have (or like) you believe.

Yeah. Probably a not all that bad score-line from Lenny's point of view after Sunday's appalling display. Milan are a far far better side than standard liege so its not all doom and gloom. Would rather Lenny was winning than Stevee Gee, that's for sure.

I'm glad they acted like a bunch of ***** over SJM. I still get great pleasure watching him play whereas if he had played for those prices I just wouldn't have been able to. Looks like a really mental piece of non business for them. 😀😀😀
