15/16 Falkirk would finish well above this Hearts side. They are very lucky they don't have competition.

:agree:

A side that are always forgotten about when mentioning our time down there. That Falkirk side would have been mid table had they been dropped into the top tier at that time.

I've ended up watching their Friday night games as quite frankly Scottish football is what I like and it's usually on somewhere. Hearts aren't much better than Dundee, Inverness, Raith at the minute if at all. They started the season well and I don't know what's up but there's a real malaise about them just now. There's no spark.

I'm telling you, the league's not won yet. They have one hand on it, but for one reason or another they can't get a firm grasp.

Likewise, love watching Scottish games regardless of who it is. I agree they’re not much better, but they go on wee runs, and even though they’ve drawn their last 3, they’ve only won 4 of their last 9, they’re still 12 clear and I can’t see Dunfermline going on any sort of run to hunt them down over 11 games. No team has won more than 3 of their last 5 in that division, and only Morton haven’t won any of their last 5. Every side keeps beating other sides and even if they don’t go further clear, their buffer just now is more than enough IMO.

I honestly think Hearts played a blinder by starting their training weeks before the other Championship sides.

It was obvious that they were so far ahead of everybody else earlier in the season but, now the other teams have caught up in terms of match fitness, it's probably too late for any other side to catch them.

They didn't start training more than a month before any of the other Championship teams in order to ensure they won the title. No matter how laboured their progress, winning the Championship was all but a given for them. The early return to training was, as Neilson admitted, all about winning their cup game against us. That was probably more important to many of their fans than promotion.

I couldn't care less about them if I tried. Let them slog it out in the lower reaches of the Scottish Leagues. It's all about Hibs for me.

Just had a look at next weeks games in Championship:
Dundee V ICT
Raith V Dunfermline

They can't all win, and they will end up handing them the league by default!!!

But harsh on Dundee

It obviously has helped them in the league though as their start is the difference in the league.

Dunfermline as expected fail to capitalise on Hearts draw last night and lose to QoS. Raith won today but will undoubtedly fail to win their 2 games in hand.

Next week Raith play Dunfermline, the biggest banker draw all season. Hertz really are so lucky that all the other teams in that league are so pish and none of them can put up a title fight.

Hibernian head coach Jack Ross: "Frustrating afternoon for us. They're incredibly soft goals. At key moments, we probably miss chances that could enable us to get back in the game.

"Our reaction to the concession of the second goal was very good. We were performed like a team in the second half that was still desperate to win it."

It certainly is. The main reason the flow of the game changed in the 2nd half was due to Motherwell throwing on a defender and taking off Tony Watt. We were still very poor with more possession though and didn't look like scoring.

Injuries are starting to take their toll on Leicester. They have had problems with their defence most the season- Justin recently ruled out the rest of the season. Vardy has been in and out this season, Maddison is out again and Barnes has just been taken off injured. I have the feeling they might start to drift off.

Similar to the view when you are actually at Hampden, putting the cameras on that side of the pitch gives a poor view. It is too low and zoomed out and you don't get a great perspective. Like watching parks football in comparison to the view from the normal camera gantry high up in the South Stand.

That’s the sort of comment we laugh at the Yams for making.
We didn’t deserve to win it , end of story.

But we really had a huge chance of winning a major trophy given the teams that were in the last 4 - something that may not happen for a long time now that there are 2 big teams operating again. You don’t think fans of a club our size are entitled to comment and observe that.? Why is that Yammish.?

That's Hibs, Hearts and St Johnstone now on two trophies each since the turn of the millennium.

I think Aberdeen are on one, so St Johnstone just overtook them.

The Rangers are still on zero, but should make one by the end of this season.

Its all down to interpretation. 20 people could look at the same incident and they wouldn't come to the same outcome. Im happy the ref has the final say rather the match being refereed from a remote video studio. The ref looks at the video on recommendation of VAR, VAR didnt say it was a penalty they suggested he might want to look at it. He did and didnt change his mind from his initial observance. One thing we did see there that I havent seen before is players crowding around the referee chirping in. Players are supposed to be booked for that and that needs stamping out before it starts. For what its worth I thought that would have been a soft penalty.

Nothing soft about it, the rule for that instance could t be clearer, hand above the shoulder = handball. Refs are making an absolute mess of VAR and that’s a huge reason I don’t want it up here. With piss poor officials it’s not going to help and it just wastes time and removes the fun from a fan experience POV.

Its still interpretation. Some of us on here think it was some of us think it wasn't. VAR thought it was worth a look, the ref looked and didnt change his mind. I dare say at half time some pundits will think it is some wont. So obviously not a stone waller. VAR creates as many issues as it solves because at the end of the day it still comes down to someones perception of it.

His hand was above shoulder height when it hit the ball. That’s literally the rule. If someone says it’s not a penalty they are wrong. Some have grey areas, the rule has been simplified for cases like this.

McBurnie looks like what I would look like in his position, very sluggish, not trying a leg, lazy, slow, ball into his feet he will make a few neat touches and passes but lost in front of goal. Watched them do their wee warm up after half time and he was half arsed through that as well. Not a clue what he brings to the table. Burke at least works hard and has a lot of pace which can trouble teams, just lacks that raw ability once he’s in those positions.

It can be complicated, due to history. In some countries, especially those with a troubled history, sports clubs can also be political vehicles, whilst in other countries it's irrelevant. In Spain, for example, which experienced a brutal civil war, families and friendships were broken and people wouldn't associate with those on the other side in any way. It inevitably spilled over into non-political areas.

The second half was even poorer and not improved by the worst commentators in the business - Martin Tyler and Jim Beglin. I shudder to think what they are paid for droning on in such an unprofessional manner.

Almiron and Saint-Maximin are out until April for Newcastle. Things are starting to go from bad to worse for them.

I fear for Newcastle's survival as things are going.

Fulham have certainly improved. The margin is now only three points and Fulham have a better goal difference.

One win for Fulham and it could all change.

Last game of the season is Fulham v Newcastle, will probably come down to it.

City making it look comfortable again. I think that offside was too close to call at the end of the first half.

Feel like I say this every week but I hate that now. That wasn’t what offside was brought in for and I understand there has to be a point when your offside, but this sleeve/arm nonsense is doing my head in. Teams should start playing with basketball style vests then see how they police it - plus the lines on the pitch that they draw are about a foot wide.

I’ve seen a few VAR decisions this season too where there have been questions asked whether they are actually reviewing the offside from the moment the player actually kicks the ball or not. I’m all for VAR but there is still work to be done on it.

Assuming that Man Utd beat Palace tomorrow, if City beat United on the weekend it’s looking likely that City will only need 5 wins from their last 10 games to win the league.

It was pretty in doubt when Leicester smacked them 5-2. Great run since. With the money they spend it should never be in doubt

When the rest are spending astronomical amounts as well it would always be a battle, Pep showing why he’s rightly regarded as one of the best coaches ever yet again this year. They’ve been frightening week on week now.

No one is spending City numbers tbf. They're a great side but they should be. They have like 4 fullbacks that cost 40 odd million. No one else has that luxury.

Yes, the form can't be knocked. It's an incredibly tough domestic league, plus Champions League wins. 21 consecutive wins is astonishing.

I think that was very much the wake up call they needed. 21 consecutive wins might never be seen again. Absolutely brilliant team, will win it again next year too IMO.

Really? All the big clubs in England have the ability to spend huge amounts of money. Chelsea in the summer there a prime example, United spending £80m on a centre half an example, Liverpool likewise. Spending that money doesn’t guarantee success due to the over inflated prices their clubs have to pay for players. They’ve now gone 28 games unbeaten, in the self proclaimed most competitive league in the world as well as the biggest competition in the world.

Not disputing they spend more than most, however down there whether you’re buying someone for £60m or £80m your getting a similar level of player, just having to pay over the odds for them.

Just out of curiosity has it been done before by a team in the top flight of English football? And if so who. Genuinely not sure if it has.

7:30 tomorrow night is the Sicilian derby, Catania v Palermo. However, it isn't the game it once was, with both clubs currently languishing in Italian Serie C. If my memory serves, I think Catania went through a financial crisis; not sure what the story is with Palermo. Both clubs have played in Serie A in their recent history.

Chelsea did spend silly money but a lot of it was the Hazard money. The only thing stopping City spending is FFP.

A couple of Premiership games on tonight
Hamilton v St Johnstone and Livvi v Rangers

A Rangers win would all but finish Livvi’s chances of 4th

Livi win guarantees them top six. A Hun win means they could potentially win the league this weekend.

Our old friends Rott Weiss Essen|(our first European Cup opponents) are playing a German Cup quarter final this evening against against Holstein Kiel. They have done very well to get that far, they are playing in tier 4 in Germany these days. Kiel are in Bundesliga 2. One of the other quarter finals takes place tonight too RB Leipzig v Wolfsburg.

2 wins gives Rangers 88 Pts, Celtic can still get to 88 too, but are 22 goals less
So if Celtic drop points, they’ll need to give Rangers a guard of honour at Parkhead on the 21st March😳

They wouldn't need to do anything. We didn't give Rangers one in 2016.
