Might not be a terrible thing for us. We were always going to struggle to catch Aberdeen even before today. If the fixtures come in the right order their game against Hearts might be important for them and the Hibs Aberdeen game might be a dead rubber for them if they have wrapped up 3rd already.

Of course it could end up being the exact opposite.

Avoiding defeat to Hearts probably secures 3rd for them. Really did not expect that after those couple of weeks where they were getting beat comfortably in Edinburgh and losing to Darvel.

Hopefully we can get 4th to skip a qualifying round in Europe but I would take 5th now (assuming one of the twins win the Cup).

Aberdeen’s improvement under Robson would suggest you can keep sacking managers if they are duds.

It pays off occasionally. Doesn’t mean it’s always the right move. Also if we are rendering to LJ here I think dud is harsh. He has improved on the last managers and the tail end of Jack Ross’ reign. And they manager pay offs mean reduced player budget for the incoming manager.

Or the players can collaborate together to get the manager sacked when they're capable of playing far better.

They are likely to play St Mirren & Hearts at home and one of them will definitely be last game of the season so I think there is a greater possibility that we get them at ER next game. Unless those deciding the fixtures want them to likely win the league in front of their own fans. Three away games in a row seems unlikely though.

Always had a decent squad of players, just needed a manager to organise and motivate them. Sadly, our pathetic recruitment process means we can't be fixed the same way. Only time, money and fresh approach at ER will fix us.

Give the Dons credit. Some turnaround from them. Can't see them throwing away 3rd now.

But we can still catch Hearts. Need to win at Tynie though. Even if we get 5th and one of the OF win the cup Euro qualification would still make this season a success to build on IMO.

Don't consume your budget by giving lengthy contracts to average players either. That and constantly trying to find bargains with long standing injury issues. Did it with Magennis and looks like we're going to do the same with Devlin. Operating on hope rather than purpose.

Got laughed at on here for saying that's a top 8 squad man for man, got players like Bailey, Kamara and Coutinho(who has not been the flop the media think, good last year, bad start but looked good under emery)not even in the squads due to form of others/injury.

Shows just how bad a manager Gerrard actually is.

Always has been imo. Worked wonders with a hilariously poor Arsenal squad, got them to multiple finals and fifth place finish, which after Wenger leaving was always the best they were getting for a few years whilst they paid of their stadium etc.

If Villa make Europe, with the money behind them as it is there's a serious case for pushing for 4th next year. 4th richest owners in the league(I think, might be off by one give or take), 20k on the waiting list, mental all the focus is on Newcastle rather than Villa

Fair play to Fulham and Brentford as well, two teams having freakishly good seasons for their squads

Emery done well at Arsenal to start but there's some major revisionism going on here. Got to 1 final and put in a dreadful performance. Should've got top 4, only had beat one of Palace, Wolves, Leicester or Brighton. Got 1 point, totally blew it. That was 4 of the last 5 games.

The run the following season coupled with the football on show rightly saw him binned. Arteta then won a trophy months later Vs the same opponents.

He's a good manager for Villa, Sevilla, Villareal levels. Big clubs. He's struggled at the only 2 really big clubs he's managed, Arsenal and PSG.

Absolutely nothing to do with paying off any stadium either.

Nothing I've said is bollocks.

Not at all, he is an excellent manager in the Europa league. I spoke about his time with Arsenal, hence why I didn't mention all the European trophies he didn't win with Arsenal?

I'd definitely suggest reading posts and the ones they are in reply to before posting. Cameron also didn't mention his Europa league wins. The conversation isn't about that.

Savilla have been a bigger club than arsenal recently. All arsenal have won in the last 18 years is the fa Cup. Sevilla have won copa del rey, 6 Europa cups and the European supercup.

Guess that's one way to look at it. Been a good period for Sevilla. Not sure they have anything like the appeal or expectations of Arsenal, though.

Wouldn't this logic have st Johnstone as the 2nd biggest club in Scotland in the last 10 years?

Definitely the most successful club.

But there are massive differences, being the Europa league final is one of the most watched sporting events in the world, same with the super cup, winning it 6 times in recent years Definitely makes you big. Also sevilla have a big following.

Anyone in Europe that is under 25 doesn't know arsenal as a team that wins the league, just a few FA cups. They will know sevilla as a club that regularly wins the Europa. Not a massive achievement nowadays but still. Also we get much more press about English football in Scotland so it can be over inflated and the Europa is a much smaller deal in the uk than it is in the content for some reason

Do more people watch the Europa League final than the FA cup final? Wouldn't think there's much difference.

Sevilla might well have a big following. Arsenal have significantly more. As well as significantly more success in their history.

Alot of hype for this game and I'm in the same boat excited for this one.

As an Englishman with no ties to any clubs down here not really bothered who wins as I just want to see some end to end football and an exciting game.

Can't see arsenal playing for the point so I guess this game is going either way, a Man City high scoring victory or an away win.

Arsenal do have the quality in the team to beat City but its a big ask and all 👀 on Haaland for me.

Very effective crowding the middle by City. A heat map would show almost everybody and the ball in the middle third, Arsenal so far unable to find the space and movement. A few minutes ago the Man City back three were closer to the centre circle than the 18-yard box, Arsenal trying to find a route from the back but stifled.

City (and DeBruyne) have timed their improvement well and they look the real deal right now (at the right time).

For reasonable periods this season I've doubted them both though.

Arsenal have really had the belief knocked out of them over the past month - after having looked to be the real deal for so much of the season.

I have never doubted for a moment that City would catch Arsenal and have said so on here. It's easy to look great when there is no pressure, but City have been here so many times. It's invaluable experience. They just know they have the ability to come out ahead when the pressure is applied.

It's all relative with Arsenal. They have paid a price for the previous two results but they still came to the Etihad at the end of April with the chance to go eight points clear at the top.

I have to pause to let that sink in, because that's borderline ridiculous progress for a club that hadn't even qualified for the CL for six seasons.

There are a few positions to bolster or upgrade in the summer, and keeping the likes of Saka and Saliba is essential, but the money will be there (and the expectations likewise).

City are very very good and very, very strong. But Arsenal on form still play the prettier football :greengrin

He's alright, decent enough for Arsenal but i suppose he might look better in this City side, although at this moment in time, he'd be warming the bench for them if he actually made the bench.

Saka was poor last night, but i could see him sneeking in their side on the right, he'd definetly make their bench. :greengrin

I was expecting a little bit more from arsenal last night TBH, full credit to City though who have peaked at the right time. Absolutely relentless in every position.

All 👀 on the relegation race now with a couple key games tonight and over the weekend.

Managed to avoid last night's Coppa Italia 2nd leg, watched it this afternoon, Inter beat Juventus 1-0 to go through to the final 2-1 on aggregate. Juventus were awful.

Huge game for Everton tonight. They are running out of fixtures and really need to get something at home.

United 6/4 is very tempting. Spurs in shambles.

Going to be some battle in The Championship for the final 2 play off places, 8 teams still in with a decent shout.

Would agree also have a very good record there however very up and down United and if they play like they did in Seville will lose.

Agreed, it all depends on which United turns up. They are prone to throwing in the towel in away games, just downing tools e.g. Liverpool, Sevilla.

Millwall vs Blackburn on the final day could be a straight shoot out for the last place

I’m liking that Newcastle away kit. Wouldn’t be upset to see us running out in similar.

It’s quality.

0-1 Newcastle.

It’s taken nearly 30 minutes to breakdown Everton’s early 90’s Wimbledon tactics.

:agree: Guys got anger issues , Maybe should concentrate on trying to pay back the 60 million price tag by actually scoring his first league goal for Spurs !!

Great goal by Rashford, just class from pass to finish but Spurs look like they've just all met each other.
