I was intrigued by what he’s achieving up there in champagne country so I watched it carefully. Not understanding all the subtleties of football management but I’ve got to say it all seems pretty simple; very intense press high around the opponents penalty box and controlling the pace with lots of staccato quick passing and then slowing it down again. I’m not sure if that’s going to work against top teams who have the quality to pass through a high press most of the time. We’ll see.

I can see why you think it's a penalty with the crazy rules about it now though for me the guys in no way tried to handle it , in fact he doesn't know anything about it . More and more in games we are seeing defenders trying to keep there arms behind there backs incase the attacker blast the ball of there arms or hands which is handing (no pun intended)the attacker a small advantage imo . I much prefer the way it use to be were it had to be a deliberate handball and not the nonsense we are witnessing now

Thought England were excellent in the first half dominated the game moved the ball well and looked stronger and sharper. Less so second half and kind of rode their luck a little. Can't imagine Dortmund are going to be happy with Bellingham going off injured especially when he had a bandage on that knee. Also thought Southgate treated Foden shoddily by taking him off after 10 mins. Could easily have taken Saka off as he hadn't kicked a ball second half rather than kind of humiliating Foden

Not as sweeper but as far as I'm aware he's always been considered to be someone who could play CH but who rarely excelled there.

I liked Gogic though. He certainly had his uses and I was disappointed when he left. We've had a few too may players like that over the years though and we can't keep them all.

I think it's hard to say as that is such a different challenge. In some ways it would be worse for Scotland to go into the Spain game complacent after a thorough pumping of a weaker team.

John McGinn didn't sound too happy with the performance in his post match interview so I don't think the squad will be under any illusions that they need to raise their game.

Games largely stand alone for me - hard to take much from this game into the next one.

And there's only so annoyed I ever get when Hibs play badly and go through to the next round of the cup against crap opposition - unlike when we're put out by, well, anyone.

Yep I'm the same and I feel the same way about Ireland.
Growing up as a Irish fan in the Jack Charlton era was simply the best time ever , he was without question the best manager we ever had or possibly will have . The team under big Jack had a spirit and fight I doubt we will see again, for the fans back then we didn't expect anything , it was all fun and every game like a party which made it all the more enjoyable.
