Did meetings behind the manager's back happen here as well, when Collins was manager? There were a lot of rumours about Stewart being the instigator too, whether that's true or not I don't know. We didn't get humped like DU have been though.

Eventually some clubs will (happens already) simply let them take over their grounds for the ticket revenue.
Short gain for long term loss of a real sporting challenge and pride. I had my hair cut yesterday by a bloke from Haddington who couldn't stop talking about Celtic in the forthcoming champions league. His father I know was a Hibby. I didn't ask why he wasn't - I kinda knew anyway as we all do. The question is how do we stop from falling further behind. I used to scoff at a league without them. Now I would go for it.

Let's be honest the gap is only going to get even wider as they establish themselves in The Champions League, 5 subs just makes it even worse too.

So I believe. Just before we played a Scottish Cup semi final v a Dunfermline team, bottom of the league. Guess what happened!
I spoke to Rob Jones about it one year in Majorca. He never denied meeting happened but him as captain should have dealt with it better.

Yes, we might never see a team other than the Old Firm win the league again, assuming they stay in Scottish football. The gap is too wide to bridge, and the occasional victory against them is the best the rest can hope for.

There should be some kind of revenue sharing like in some American sports where the rich teams pay a penalty that’s shared amongst the less affluent clubs (ironically some of those less affluent clubs are probably still owned by billionaires but the point stands). Make the uglies share some of their riches, it could be done.
All other clubs apart from the old firm hold the upper hand in Scotland, the clubs either don’t realise it or are too scared to do anything.
We need to threaten them with breaking away from the old firm and leave the two of them isolated because there is not a hope in hell they will be welcomed into the EPL. They can piss off to the Irish league or somewhere else that would take them.
I’m completely serious here, something drastic needs to be done.

i do vaguely remember us clobbering St Johnstone(or even Ayr?) at ER in the next game after the 7-0 tynecastle games, i thought at that time it was going to happen in just about every game :) November 1965 v Hamilton. The 8-1 game v Ayr was a couple of weeks before the 7-0 game a week after we won the league cup - which was paraded round the ground that day too.

They'll finish third easily, by at least 10 to 15 points. Even if they're not a great side they have a bigger, more adaptable squad than anyone else, with plenty cash coming in via Europe for the next transfer window. A position we should have been in. Instead we'll be circa 30 points behind them on current evidence.

In the past I never supported the idea of a league with no OF, but it pains me to say they are now too big and too much better off financially, than the rest of the league, some way of moving them out of Scotland has to be on the cards.

Yes he got us 3rd but the next season was a car crash, he was rightly sacked at the time, the club made a huge mistake hiring Maloney. Ross done well at lower level but has struggled at Sunderland, us the 2nd season and now at Dundee United, he seems tactically inept as we seen getting beat by St Johnstone twice in cups.

When it came down to it he didn't though. Two failed attempts against St Johnstone at Hampden, did we even have a shot on target in the cup final?
Finished 3rd in a season where there were no supporters and every club were crippled financially by the pandemic. That season saw the decline of Aberdeen begin and Hearts not in the league, who battered us a week or two before the football shut down and then beat us after hardly playing a game for 7 months in the semi final.
We qualified for Europe and got slapped about in Croatia. Then we saw the beginning of the end for Ross, 4 points from a possible 27 in his last 9 games. He was leading us into a relegation battle and that was with both Boyle and Nisbet available. Come January when Boyle would have left, who was the only spark we had those few months, it would have got messy.
Sacking him was absolutely the right thing to do. I think that is being backed up with his Dundee Utd form even after the money they have put towards new signings this summer. 5 points from his last 13 league games as a manager. Due another sack and I doubt he will get another top 6 six job in Scotland again. My guess will be following the journey of someone like Paul Hartley, managing in the lower division or somewhere like League 2 in England.

I realise that. That’s what I meant when I said it was a strange sentence. The very idea that St Johnstone were the only thing standing between Jack Ross and an exceptional place in Hibs history is mind boggling. Yet it’s true.

A bottom six finish when he really didn’t have all that much ground to make up to get top 6, a 3rd place finish which was good, no arguments there and then leading us to the bottom 6 again and a sacking. A few really good results but easily more really bad ones.

Nathan Patterson unlucky there. He’s played quite well tonight. Can see him improving every week
Man of the match, great to see him and Hickey doing so well. How do you fit the 2 of them in a Scotland team though?!

Marsch seems to have adopted Beilsas playstyle, or developed it ! Leeds have been a great watch the last few years.

VAR official on the sauce in the Arsenal Villa game. Saka hauled to the ground in the box and nothing given.

Haaland with a double for Man City already, that’s him on 8 goals in 5 league games

I reckon Haaland will end up the best striker of all time.
Won’t quite reach Messi and Ronaldo level of player but won’t be far off it imo. The guy is ridiculous.

Kind of wish he'd played at Easter Road so I'd have seen him in the flesh but we'd have probably got well beaten in both legs instead of just away.

Think he'll set the record for goals in a premier league season. Guy is frightening.
Theres the hatrick. Safest football fantasy captain pick ever.

Hatrick Haaland.
Honestly don’t think there’s anything you can do against him.
