Think that's understandable after being 2-0 down and looking well out of it. Credit to Clement for salvaging things. I really rate him as a manager.

Puts them in a strong position provided they can (hopefully for Hibs' sake) win at Dens.

As for the penalty. Any other team and it’s a booking for simulation.

I am more surprised that Beaton didn’t give the penalty immediately and actually booked silva for diving.

The decision by var to call him over though was plain wrong and for Beaton to then change his decision just incredible. It had a definite impact on the outcome of the game and quite possibly the title race as well.

Whats is interesting is the VAR both had decision called against them today that they have had given for them this season. The soft penalty for rangers similar to the challenge we had against Celtic when the contact is after the ball is away. rangers get handball decisions almost weekly. it will be interesting to see the fallout.

Nothing I repeat nothing is understandable about that new club or the old club. without the penalties gifted throughout the seasons they are no that much better than half a dozen other real Scottish teams.
As for the mad man in charge, dont rate him at all.

A lot will depend on the split fixtures: gone are the days where both OF teams are guaranteed to win all other post-split fixtures. I just hope it doesn’t come down to the final OF game to decide it. The carnage in Glasgow will be horrendous.

I am definitely not making excuses for them. Like I said, I switched it off when VAR resulted in their outrageous penalty. However, it’s a fact that VAR’s impact is being felt everywhere it is being used. The EPL, for example, is having terrible problems with it. In principle it’s a good idea, but it’s getting involved when it shouldn’t, and that is creating mayhem.

First cup win in 40 years and lost 6 finals with most of the defeats fairly recently. Watched it (big fan of finals without Barca/Real) and the winning pen was scored at 12.54am (Spanish time). I imagine the scenes in Bilbao will be wild today. Rumoured1 million along the banks of the Nervion for a barge parade. The stadium was sold out for the beamback from Seville last night.

Funny though that in a similar incident of a player being caught but going down easily involving Martin Boyle V Celtic, Boyle's booking stands and VAR doesn't find reason to overturn the decision and award a penalty......

Never a penalty in a million years for me. Silva was on the way down again before he jumped over the defender’s leg. He did it numerous times in the first half; even Kris Boyd called him a disgrace. The booking was correct; VAR interjected over something that was a never a clear and obvious error. It changed the result.

It’s the same old story, teams can go through United like a hot knife through butter. You have to question the manger, he doesn’t seem to be learning, it’s only a couple of days since United lost a game they were winning in the 98th minute, but he sets them up the same way again. The Basque thing is over hyped. Over 3 million Basques live in the Basque country yet alone the thousands who live around the world. They get the cream of the crop and often take/steal the best players from the other Basque teams youth sides as these players want to go to them one Bilbao come in for them.
Its basically as if Hibs only played Scottish players but had the pick of the Scottish players and these players wanting to play for Hibs. Its not like Hibs only playing players from Edinburgh which a lot of folk try to make out.

You are just assuming that a top half of Spanish league quality player is going to come through. Scotland have had pish strikers for about 30 years. That could happen to Bilbao too. They could go 20 years without a decent left back for example.

I personally think it's incredible. 24 cups, 8 league titles, never relegated, European finals, competing for champions league. A club with a clear identify.

There is also another big club down the road who have many of the best basque players and wouldn't sell to Bilbao.

Its basically as if Hibs only played Scottish players but had the pick of the Scottish players and these players wanting to play for Hibs. Its not like Hibs only playing players from Edinburgh which a lot of folk try to make out.

C'mon, it's pretty impressive.
They've historically been quite successful, all with players exclusively from the same region, while competing against 2 of the worlds biggest, richest clubs.

i should have added along with players being from the Basque Region i saw an article afterwards that they also include players brought through their academy so i presume not 100% from the Basque Region.

Even they accepted he dived. VAR changed the game and might change the destination of the league title. As I said, we might as well let VAR decide who wins and just skip the game. Let VAR call it like the old pools panel when games were postponed.

oh and yes it should have been two penalties, first one Referee surely clearly sees the Sunderland player leaning in to the ball with his arm then the 2nd one the linesman should have saw the handball chr*st even the sunderland player was holding his wrist after handling it

considering what's at stake at both ends of the table i'm surprised the Championship doesn't have VAR

YET

apparently Leeds have had six letters of apology this season
Leeds United boss Daniel ****e says they have received six apologies from referees' body PGMOL this season.

Daniel ****e
The 47-year-old said he expected two more after his team had two penalty appeals turned down in Tuesday's 0-0 Championship draw with Sunderland.

Leeds went second with the point, but will be overhauled if Ipswich avoid defeat against Watford on Wednesday.

"We have had six letters this season so far apologising and saying it was a penalty or a red card," said ****e.

"We'll probably get two more letters right now. It won't help us because it doesn't feel like a fair outcome.

"If we had got two penalties it would have felt we could have at least used one to win this game

"It makes no sense. In general I am never asking for red cards, it's more like 'Come on, act a bit earlier with yellow cards'. If you don't do this you send the message 'OK, keep going'."

The two penalty calls against Sunderland came in either half, first when Dan Ballard leaned his elbow towards Crysencio Summerville's shot then after the break when Black Cats skipper Luke O'Nien handled.

Neither incident was picked up by referee Tim Robinson, however.

Think the group stages are pretty boring.

Still the issue the draw is pretty rigged as certain teams can’t play each other.

The new format just seems weird - bit like the plans to change the World Cup groups etc - modern football seems to find ways to mess perfectly good things up.

Fair enough. I quite enjoy the Championship games on a Friday night as well.

But many of the greatest games I’ve ever seen have been in the Champions League, and I’ll always make time for it.

We play in a league that only two teams can win because of their massive financial advantage over everyone else (and recently one team won every trophy available for four years running) so I’m not going to get sanctimonious about the CL. Think there have been five different winners in the last five years as well.

Not quite always lol.

Spoke well there and often does, but wouldn’t say always - he can be very belligerent at times as well.

Really? He’s one of the rudest most obnoxious managers going after a defeat.

Slightly over exaggerated abit 😂. Most of the time possibly.
Always liked Klopp tbh .
Think the premier League will be alot duller without him in fairness though we've always got Eddie Howe 😉

Unreal to think how well Leverkusen have done this season, and that’s with Boniface being injured for ages.

I guess they’re not just a bonnie face.

i had a funny feeling Czech side Viktoria Plezen drawing last night against Fiorentina would be bad for Scottish sides

from 2025/26 season our League winners will have to play a qualifying round seeing as we are now out of the coefficient top ten and will drop for 2026/27 unless fortunes improve next season, projections are suggesting down to 16th

Saw this tweet, good for a jambo! James Horncastle is superb. Could do with more of him Pat Nevin and James Richardson rather than the Cara, Keano, Boyd banterthon we get

I agree with the broader pointabout quality, but i find Horncastles voice a bit of a boring drone. He does know his stuff about Italy though, his fluency in the language clearly helps, and Richardson (who is the GOAT double act with Pat Nevin IMO) clearly likes him.

Totally agree that was brilliant insightful and knowledgeable. Absolutely could do with more of his calibre rather than ex players who offer nothing but laddish banter and biased opinions

The score in the top left is annoying me more than it should.

Why are Leeds shown as LEE but Blackburn is B'BURN.
Show some consistency for god's sake.

Think some big clubs will be sniffing around Isak this summer, especially with Newcastle so far away from CL spots. Sent Van de veen to the shops there.

Probably will be though he's contracted to 2028 and I doubt if Newcastle United will want to lose him . In saying that if an offer came in of around 130 million or more they might be tempted I suppose.
