Was it not that he was offside in the 1st phase so when the Norwegian defender plays the ball he comes from an offside position. If he did not touch the ball into the net it would have been a goal he should have left it

Think the reason the ref ends up going to the monitor is because the subjective bit about whether the ball was intentionally played comes in. Of course it was intentionally played, the boy flew through the air to reach it!

I think this is it. 100% intentional. Does the ref think he wasn’t trying to play it?😂😂. It could of course be the ref was asked to go look and see if the striker was intending to play the ball in the initial phase. Again of course he was therefore offside before the defender played it. VAR should just call it and get in with the game. What a palaver. In any case the communication between ref and VAR should be made available at the time just like rugby.

I know the Scotland goal against Spain a player can be offside but as long as he does not interfere with the line of site of the shot at goal and does not impede the goalkeeper ability to make a effort to save the shot the goal should be allowed, that's what ref watch said. Two Spanish goalkeepers in the goal would not have saved that free kick.

The ballot is an odd one. I am not convinced it will be oversubscribed. It’s a blind draw and forced you to transact ALL tickets or none before the draw early Dec. likely to suit many who just want to watch football, be part of it or stay fairly close but for getting to see your country it really is a shot in the dark.

Düsseldorf is a great base. Gelsenkirchen, Dortmund, Cologne and Düsseldorf stadiums all reachable on local public transport. Stuttgart and Frankfurt are around 2 hours away by train. Download the VRR and Deutsche bahn apps.

In many ways I "feel" for referees who officiate in the lower leagues as they don't get paid much and suffer dogs abuse, but that is a pretty awful mistake to make. Hard to know if it's racist or just incompetence. All he had to do was take a note of the players shirt number when booking him and there is no issue..it's not hard to get it right !

In all seriousness though, I think these ARE the games we want to play, with qualification now secured. We’re a decent international side now, and seem to have mastered winning the games we should be winning. The next step is closing the gap on top sides, or at least getting results against them more frequently, becoming a side nobody particularly wants to play.

Unfortunate timing with injuries but it gives others a chance. Clarke said himself we want to be testing ourselves against the best. We’ve got the best performing Scotland squad in a long time, we’ve done the qualification job… what better time to take on one of the best in the world?

the army were patrolling every street in the city centre, armed police on every corner - I’ve never seen anything like it in all the travelling I’ve done with sport or otherwise. My take on the France / Scotland game is that some of the fringe players are not good enough. Zander Clark, Scott McKenna and Ryan Christie should be quietly dropped and others tried out. If everyone is fit most of the starting eleven pick themselves, although I think Jacob Brown looked useful and deserves a start. We are desperately in need of some pace in attack. Oh, and Kevin Thomson should be dropped from Viaplay, boring beyond boring.

Watched most of that Italy looked pretty good first half. Gave away a couple of poor goals from their perspective second half and England should have been down to ten with 25 to go. Get the impression the ex Napoli coach will turn them round however they definitely have a job on to qualify now.

Italy had a decent first half against England, I thought possibly shaded it creating better chances. England fully in control in the second half. Bellingham running the show again and Kane a class act. For Italy I was looking forward to seeing Inters Barella who has been in great form this season but to be honest he was pretty disappointing last night.
