That'll be talked about all week, daft decision.

When linesman let the play continue for about 60 seconds after an offside, it's ridiculous that the ref feels he needs to give that freekick in 0.5 seconds.

Pep will be fuming.

Funny is funny though :greengrin

Why the f#*# are Livingston not playing mid-week?

They'll have enjoyed a nice two week rest by the time they host us on saturday.

Great strategy from Martindale. Bottom of the league, 5 defeats in a row, I know... let's just stop playing and hope for the best. Can't lose if we don't play!

They are a farce. Hope they go down this season. It’s a convenient away trip but that’s where the positives end. They must have the most match cancellations these last few years with an artificial pitch.

Think they moved their game v Dundee to the league cup semi final weekend. Both they and Dundee must have been playing one of the four teams. Makes sense and similar to what we did with St Johnstone game on 30th.

And in any another job, that many high profile mistakes would see you binned. It doesn't. Despite all that technology to help them, refs still consistently make awful errors. No wonder players are frustrated.

Referees like mike dean are far more arrogant and self entitled than any player I've seen.

**** rugby.

Football isn’t rugby. Rugby players also go up the town and play soggy biscuit after a spiffing good game, should football players do that as well?

I’d much rather see footballers with passion take a referee to task for making a horrendous mistake than watch rugby players be banned from speaking to the referee as if they’re not important enough.

As MWHibees has said, some of these decisions are incomprehensible. They’re absolutely atrocious. Expecting to be able to perform so badly but get no blowback from it is just daft.

Rugby players don't roll about at the merest touch either, but they do respect the officials, as it should be, and when they step out of line the whole team's punished.
Footballers at the highest level have become in the main overpaid prima donnas as it is and you want them acting up even more? Now that's what I call daft.

Spot on. Mutual respect between players and referees, although the confusion over what constitutes a red card has muddied the waters.

Overall though, rugby has its house in order here whereas VAR has all but ruined football. In fact I probably watch more rugby than football these days.

Those suggesting players give the refs more grief are well off the mark. One of the reasons my kids drifted away from football was the appalling behaviour from ignorant parents and coaches on the touchline who would try to referee the games themselves. It really is embarrassing seeing kids being brought up to believe it's OK to give the ref such levels of abuse. Anyone who gives up their time to referee games at a lower level is clearly doing so solely for the love of the game. I'd never consider it myself due to the absurd and unwarranted flak so many have to endure.

I’ve also never seen a football player go to the lengths of taking a fake blood capsule onto the pitch to feign an injury.

……… and do you think they go unnoticed by the authorities? If referees’ incompetence and, at times, corruption was policed properly and consistently, many of the problems would be solved. Condoning and encouraging player challenging and questioning referees is not going to solve the problem as they will always be protected and supported by the authorities.
A system where a referee was given a yellow card for obviously poor and corrupt decisions and fined after, say, five incidents, the quality of refereeing would improve. I know this sounds a bit of a flight of fantasy and will never happen, but the underlying pemise is sound in my opinion.

Showing one you tube clip doesn't alter the fact that rugby doesn't even come close to football in the sheer amount of simulation/ cheating and the blood capsule was 14 years ago so hardly current news. Also the player got a hefty ban and two officials from the club REALLY got hefty bans, 2 and 3 years IIRC.

The ‘fact’ from Crunchie was that they simply don’t do it. They quite clearly do.

And whilst the blood capsule scandal was 14 years ago, it was proven to have happened on numerous occasions.

Chelsea were guilty of systematically intimidating referees in Mourinho's time there. John Terry was almost thuggish doing it.

Mascherano was terrible for it at Liverpool. It was disgusting.

Rangers intimidate referees on the pitch and by writing complaints when anything goes against them.

Has a referee ever changed a decision because he was getting shouted at? No, so why do it? It's bullying behaviour to scare them away from future decisions against them.

All these actions are deliberate, and the fact that rangers haven't had penalties given against them is explained in part by this behaviour.

I'm amazed anysupporters condone this bullying. It only ever helps the most powerful of clubs, but more to the point, referees are human beings and they shouldn't have to endure anyone screaming in their face at anytime, never mind at their work.

How Haaland wasn't sent off or at least booked speaks volumes about where the power lies.

I'm struggling to think of any other sport where such behaviour happens to the same extent. If it does happen (eg in tennis and rugby), there are prescribed and immediate sanctions.

I also can't think of any situation where a referee has changed their mind as the result of a player screaming abuse at them.

If there's concern about the standard of officiating, the solution is off the field, not on it.

Bullying isn't passion.

Referees make mistakes, of course. They make decisions on what they see and sometimes they don't see an incident properly. Most of the time, however, it's the players who are wrong. How often have we seen players crowding a referee when he's correctly awarded a penalty or sent someone off etc etc.

Bullying is about scaring the referee into giving the bullies favourable decisions. That's wrong.

I'll be delighted if the rule about only the captain approaching the referee comes into force. Hopefully it won't spoil your enjoyment of the game too much. :greengrin

You’re using societal norms and applying them to sport. Expecting sport, with all the passion that goes along with it, to have the same behavioural standards as day to day life is stupid and every sport would fall short if that’s the standards we’re applying, rugby included.

I’ve seen basketball players going tonto at referees https://youtu.be/4HbfzasgI68?si=aBrtE8Sgq0z-57ca

It’s become the done thing to pretend football is the only support with these sort of things happening. In reality though, it’s nonsense, much like the idea that rugby players don’t cheat is also nonsense.

You can want certain rules put in place all you want. Pretending they should be put in place because it’s only football that has situations like this arise though is utter rubbish.

Dont think ive ever seen players...in numbers....scream in a team mates face for making a mistake that may or may not have cost them a result. So why refs?. Sure he screwed up but the reaction is totally OTT. The picture of Haaland...he looks deranged. No one should have to put up with that in their workplace...no one.

The reactions not over the top at all, it was an absolute horror decision that you could be forgiven for questioning whether the ref was cheating. That decision could be the difference between Man City winning the league or not, it could cost the club tens of millions of pounds.

‘Their workplace’ is a sporting environment. Using societal norms when it comes to sport is just daft. Next you’ll be telling us players shouldn’t celebrate winning because nobody should have failures rubbed in their face in the workplace.

You think draws are fixed in Scotland

Manchester United's record-breaking run of 12 home domestic cup draws has finally come to an end.

They will take on Wigan at the DW Stadium in the FA Cup third round - their first away tie in THREE years.

and after Leeds were drawn away to Peterborough that's a new FA cup record of 13 straight away ties

odds for that happening were 1/8192

wish i had stuck at least 25p on that happening

Only a few months ago,, people were moaning about us getting steamrolled by villa. 😂

Yup why didn't we put a bigger fight against a team outplaying one of the best club teams in the world? If only our players had tried a bit harder 😂😂

one of the subs at tinycastle was in the first half therefore time would have been added on before HT, then two heartz subs at HT therefore no time would have been added on

2nd half, two heartz subs at different times after the restart= 1 min

Sevco made three subs with two of them at the same time= 1 min or 90 seconds at most

no time is added on for bookings

any VAR delays ? if not then 3 mins is the most expected shirly :dunno:

only flicked over after our game finished from what i saw they did have chances, so did the away side :)

no idea if they emptied prior to the last 15 mins but from what i did see they maybe could have given the away fans more seats after all :greengrin

Anyone see how the shove on the Aberdeen player in the box wasn't a penalty?

Yet further proof, if needed, that Rangers/Celtic are refereed in a different manner, and VAR is just another tool being used to cement their position.

It would’ve been soft, but it would’ve been given to Rangers or Celtc under the same circumstances.

What about this one -

3 seconds into the game. Looks a clear red card to me. At the very least VAR should’ve instructed the ref to look at it on the monitor.

Never seen a more obvious red card!
Maybe VAR team were not yet in their seats?
The Governing body must apologise for this total c**k up.
Not a Fan of Aberdeen, but with an early red card, they surely would have won this game!!!

They have.

Decimated by injuries to key players.

Trying to play out of defence but losing stupid goals as they really don't have the players to do it yet.

Who does that sound like.

Everton missed several chances first half and then Newcastle looked more imposing after the break. Then the roof fell in.
Trippier is a very good right back but he was off his feed tonight. He got bundled aside by Calvert-Lewin early on and wasn't the same after.

You can't give time and space to Dwight McNeil who has one the most unerring left feet in the league.
