Chelsea should get Ziyech on for Pulisic.

This was pretty much a classic match by halftime - second half probably been even better so far, even without goals.

Number of goal attempts has been mental. Still half an hour to go as well.

More goals in this game. Chelsea would be deserved winners.

Not enjoyed an English premier league game as much as this in a long time.

Liverpool were coasting apart from a 10 min spell.

Had most chances this half too.

Draw is probably about right at minute but Liverpool to nick it.

Can’t agree about Liverpool coasting. They were second best all over until they scored, Chelsea were then better again after that, and it wasn’t until the second went in that Liverpool threatened to run away with it. For nearly half an hour Chelsea were well on top with Liverpool being clinical. Chelsea have had nearly 60% of the ball in both halves, creating chances and stopping Liverpool playing in the main.

Liverpool have not been coasting at any point in this game.

In my opinion.

Draw wouldn’t be unfair but I wouldn’t mind seeing chelsea rewarded for the effort and intensity they’ve put into this, by completing the comeback.

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with the Liverpool boy here. Get a ****ing grip. Big strong centre half screaming and rolling about from that…it’s an embarrassment.

They were 2-0 up and Chelsea created next to nothing.

World class effort from no where changed the game. If that doesn't happen Liverpool go in 2 up at break and win this 3-0.

I disagree. There hasn’t been a point in this game where I wasn’t certain chelsea would get a goal, even at 2-0 down.

Might as well say - Mistake from Chelsea centre half and a bit of class from Salah.. otherwise Liverpool are never getting anything out of this.

But you do have a corrupt Russian billionaire who made his fortune from dodgy oil deals (and is a personal friend of an even more corrupt, homophobic and despotic Russian leader) who is in charge of Chelsea, and has been there a lot longer than either the owners of Man City or obviously Newcastle. Although I totally agree with you about the Man City and Newcastle situations, it's a bit late to be taking the moral high ground, English football has been corrupt for decades and you, like many others, still watch it regularly. At this point in the season I'd give that tag to Tony Mowbray.

Don’t think he’s got much to work with. A team of individuals with no balance and players better on paper/reputation than reality. Think he’d be better taking a leaf out of Arteta’s book and build round the youngsters like Greenwood & Sancho as well as the lesser players, but who will run, like Lingard.

Wolves are a decent side, they just need a bit more up top, they dont score enough goals. Should really have scored more than one today especially their first half performance. United are really struggling arent they, dont seem to play with any cohesive game plan, it seems to be just a bunch of individuals in red shirts. Do well to finish high enough for a European spot on their current form. Well done to Wolves tonight though well deserved, I think the commentator said it was their first win at OT in the Premier League era.

Certainly when the call was made, only 3 players were out with covid. Which other players have it now? Plenty others injured or at AFCON, assuming covid tipped it over the edge.

Point is, very little consistency. Villa had to play their u18s side last season I believe.

True. I just can't grasp how they seem to have much more time to play games than we do - we ram a load of games into December so we can have a couple of weeks off but never have any other midweeks free for re arranged games. England meanwhile just seem able to switch to a free midweek on a whim.

They still don’t care for the competition though. They’ve spent the last month complaining about the amount of games they play. EFL should’ve taken one look at their previous teams in the competition and told them to get on with it with the 18’s.

this was discussed in the press a few days ago, can’t remember where.

the league cup in England requires a squad to be named apparently, Liverpool have covid, injuries and international absences from their squad, and therefore can’t name a match day squad, which is why it’s been postponed.

the FA cup in England doesn’t have this rule, so the FA can/do push clubs to use youth players if necessary - hence why Liverpool's game against Shrewsbury on Sunday hasn’t been postponed.

the FA cup in England doesn’t have this rule, so the FA can/do push clubs to use youth players if necessary - hence why Liverpool's game against Shrewsbury on Sunday hasn’t been postponed.

Very bizarre. Never heard that the league cup requires squad resistration at the start of the season? Find that hard to believe because all teams play kids in the league cup, so surely they'd be registered anyway?

I’ve always followed Liverpool since a very young age, but the depth of city’s squad is scary and that’s what Liverpool have missed especially up front, last season in defence with van dijk injury was a killer and few other things happening

There is always a stigma and stereotypes associated with Millwall. I don’t think they are that different from other clubs and the English media do seem to single them out, certainly they have done over the years. They do a lot of community and charity work and also have a loyal, working class fan base.

https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/syndication.bleacherreport.com/amp/1466748-ranking-the-15-statistically-best-passers-in-europe-this-season.amp.html

The very best passing midfielders in Europe are getting somewhere around a 85% pass completion rate. They will attempt the similar level of difficulty of pass as goalkeepers or defenders most of the time, but that 10-20% of inaccurate passes won’t be as noticeable to you because the impact is less impactful /dangerous for the team in that area of the pitch. In the back third of the pitch Goalkeepers and defenders are expected to be safe 99% of the time and also be creative and try to hit runners getting beyond the last defender, it’s not always going to work. If you want to play in that way you’re going to have to expect the occasional disaster at the back and not not sharpen up the pitchforks every time it happens. (Not saying that’s what you’re doing but it WILL happen at some point to Marcy/Porteous whoever inevitably.

I don’t especially enjoy watching them because they are so good that they completely suffocate the opposition, and their games are rarely a contest - but they are on another level entirely.

I think their greatest strength is that they’ve never become overly reliant on one player, they rotate the squad regularly, and deal with injuries to big players, and just carry on regardless.

For all of their amazing attacking talents, Liverpool are nothing without Van Dijk. They were nowhere near winning the league before he signed, then had successive great Champions League campaigns and finished 2nd and 1st in the EPL after he arrived - then were nowhere near winning anything again last season when he was out injured.

Chelsea seem to struggle without ****e, despite all of the great midfielders that they have.

With Macey? Yeah I think so. It’s not the best part of his game but it’s been exaggerated a bit. Butland was considered the next big thing in England team not that long ago, if you play fast pass backs to your keeper when there’s attackers pressing right up there… it can happen to anyone.

I’m a Newcastle fan and appointing Howe is a massive mistake imho. Top players will sign for top managers.

Whilst I think trippier is an excellent signing they need another 9 outfield players just to try and get them to safety.

I had them on my coupon today at 1-6. All the other teams on my 5 team acca came in and were all winning at half time.

If the new owners have any aspersions to take the club forward the appointment of Howe will get them relegated because they might struggle to attract the quality they need!

The appointment of Howe will end up being a backwards move (already is for me) as top players want to be based in London or in the likes of Manchester or Liverpool. Players don’t want to be in Newcastle even with massive wages however a top manager being there shows these players that he’s there do it must be ok.

Can only see this going one way and that’s relegation and that’s in a big way down to the players they have and then appt of Howe

Do you really think a top drawer coach will move to a club pretty well assured of relegation? How would a top line European coach deal with getting out of the Championship?

Howe was certainly the best that they could expect to get. Assuming that Newcastle go down this season, Howe will be a good choice to get them back up next season. He will then be sacked.

Ah. That makes sense. I take it back. I really shouldn't comment on English football given I pay even less attention to it than I do non-Hibs Scottish football!

Tiring, yes. But why? These guys are in the fifth biggest league in Europe. They are paid ridiculous amounts to be athletes, yet somehow it's accepted that they should be tired. Mad.

no idea why but i was positive hull city were in league one :hmmm:

300 - Karim @Benzema 🇫🇷 has scored 300 goals in 584 appearances for @realmadriden in all competitions, becoming the fourth player to reach that milestone in club's history, after Cristiano Ronaldo 🇵🇹 (450), Raúl González Blanco 🇪🇸 (323) and Alfredo Di Stéfano 🇦🇷🇪🇸 (308). Olympus.

Delighted as I am to see a giant killing, how on earth was the second Kidderminster goal not a foul on the keeper? Their player just sits on him for half a minute :greengrin

I’m watching the same game. That pitch looks to be as narrow as Tynecastle, and it looks like safe standing behind the West Ham goal.

That goal should never stand. No way there isn't an offside in there. Bowen looked clearly offside.

Struggling to understand how that is not off given Bowens involvement

Looks like they've changed the seating behind both goals too. Definitely seems a bit closer to the pitch and squared off than it used to be.

I missed the first 15-20 mins of the game, so dunno if he started well today, but I cannae believe that Man Utd and then Leeds paid so much for Dan James.

He’s hopeless.

the biggest waste of £25m in world football, Victor Orta should have been sacked just for that one alone, £15m on Junior Firpo...waste, jack harrison on loan from man city and doesn't do too bad a job, gets full transfer and been utter rank since, take Bamford and Kalvin Philips out that team and they struggle badly, a rake of injuries hasn't helped
