Based on the game today, it'll be a tough shift on Wednesday. Livi should have scored a couple today, and if it wasn't for Gordon, they would have. Livi pressing really well all over the pitch.

Perhaps it certainly dont look good and with it goes a very lucrative European Place, that could also help with the finances, we will just have to hope that Super J. McGinn gets his deserved, huge move to one of the top Englander clubs. We could use the money to bring in some real quality players.

I don't know if it's gone yet but it's certainly not looking good at the moment. It goes without saying but we need to win our two games in hand and then at least match their results between now and the derby and then win the derby so the gap's no more than two points going into the break and then we can make improvements in January.

Do I think all of that will end up happening? Probably not, but we're not quite out of it yet.

Steven Fletcher getting a rest after a tremendous 90min shift away to QPR. Top man really.

:agree:

That was a big, big wim for Stoke. The win took them into the top six and stopped QPR going third. Stoke soaked up a huge amount of pressure yet still kept a clean sheet. For MO'N fans it is worth noting that Stoke have one of the tightest defences in the Championship, but as long as he is managing at the levels of a club genuinely competing for promotion to the Premiership, he would be beyond Hibs' means.

Kept an eye on Fletcher and he performed very well and lasted neary the whole game. He had an assist for the disallowed goal, hit the woodwork himself, and won some very helpful free-kicks to run down the clock as the game went into its latter stages. I thought he was at his best for the first goal- he didn't have any contact with the ball but found space and a good shooting position - enough that if Campbell squared it, Fltcher ould have had a clear and easy unmarked shot on goal. As it was, Campbell went himself and scored. The keeper was well-aware of how free Fletcher was and was trying to compensate for that, which made Campbell's shot somewhat easier.

I have seen Fletcher in England being asked to play as a lone striker in years past, which simply doesn't suit him, let alone allow him to shine. Paired with a busy striker though and he lights up, because of his intellignece and experience. Hence doing well, at the age of 34, with a club actively seeking to secure Premuiership status next season.

Added bonus to the match was seeing Mark Warbuton is the QPR manager. I've had a certain song stuck in my head ever since :greengrin

Money talks obvously if someone comes in with a bid, but I think SJM is settled at Villa and will benefit from playing under Gerrard who was obviously a class midfielder himself. He's 27 now and entering his peak time, personally I think he will improve further under Gerrard for at least another season which will obviously benefit Scotland (by further improving). If he is to get a big money move it will hapeen in the next year or so while he's 27/28.

But the line of the box was a good indication as to where their boot was, looked identical to me, where the blue and red line came from I have no idea.

Yes, it's those decisions that give VAR a bad name. Like all technology, it's how you use it. It certainly has pros and cons.

Calum Butcher: Dundee Utd midfielder charged by SFA over Turnbull challenge - BBC Sport (https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/59560030)

Dundee United midfielder Calum Butcher has been charged by the Scottish FA following his challenge on Celtic's David Turnbull on Sunday.
Referee Don Robertson booked Butcher for catching Turnbull on the shins with a studs-up lunge in United's 3-0 defeat at Tannadice.

The 30-year-old has now been issued with a fast-track notice of complaint after a panel of three former referees deemed the incident red card worthy.

I don’t think it’s ever changed, it’s only if the referee deems not to have seen the whole incident. If he sees the tackle in full and still thinks it’s a yellow then it stands. He’ll have said he never seen the height of the challenge and therefore it can be ‘re-refereed’.

You’re a bit out of date:greengrin.

It changed with the change of compliance officer who can refer whether a yellow should be a red regardless of the referee and without consulting him.

My bad - knew there was always a scenario where a yellow could be upgraded and has happened multiple times over the years. Still don’t see any point where the team that was hard done to on the pitch then suffer again by their competitors playing against a weakened side (butcher will miss a game against rangers for example).
