Elliot Anderson got interest from Scottish clubs (loads of EFL clubs too). Loan from Newcastle and think he is a winger/attacking midfielder. Would imagine we could be one of them. Had a decent season at Bristol Rovers last season.

He’s really highly rated and done well on loan last season and got called up by Scotland 21’s iirc.
Would be a loan with no option to buy I’d imagine and another really young player but if he’s the best we can get then why not.

He’s maybe not the best on the ball but he’s very effective, especially in a Jack Ross team with potentially Levitt and McGrath next to him

Not sure his back story for leaving Celtic. The boy is brilliant though, even if you do only 60 minutes out him!

Didn't think there would be much chance but just wondering if he's just kicking about doing nothing, can't imagine he'd be on incredible wages going back to Australia.
Read he was back using Celtic facilities but dunno how true that is.
I'd imagine be well sounded out by this stage though by potential suitors

If Partey is in the jail, they are weaker. They now need at least 2 quality central midfielders. They're plans are really in turmoil right now. It is looking good for spurs but never more than a Kane or son injury away from toiling.

You haven't though, have you. It's actually a very recent thing. Even Artetas first full season wasn't like this, signing guys like William. Infact, it's been 1 season with this strategy.
They've won more than Spurs since Wenger left. No trophies for finishing above your rivals. I know which I'd prefer.
Sanchez :faf: his career absolutely nosedived. Great example

Failure to finish in Europe in his first full season in charge and bottling a four point lead with three games to go for Champions League, getting battered at Spurs home in the process. Back to playing Thursday and Sunday’s this season. Arsenal are nothing special, neither are Spurs, but Spurs are a lot better.
Sanchez has won the Serie A and Coppa Italia within the last two seasons. Hardly a fall from grace.

Don’t really care about Spurs or Arsenal tbh but I can see Arteta coming under pressure if things do not click for him right away this season
Not a fan of Jesus either based on the amount of times I had him to score ‘ next goal’ and he didn’t deliver last season

I loved Allan's time at Hibs, one of my favourite players in the last decade.
But I think he'll have a real hard time finding a club. No doubt on the talent but a lot of clubs will struggle to justify someone, particularly a midfielder, who doesn't get about much, can't tackle and won't last much more than 60 mins.
Obviously a much higher level but suspect similar to the issues Cristiano Ronaldo is facing. How many clubs want to be sign a player at the wrong end of their career, will ask for a big wage, can't press etc.

Partey is better than hojlberg, tomiyasu is much better than Emerson or doherty, saka would clearly start along side kane and son in the front three over anyone else they have, Romero is probably the best CB out of the two clubs but I'd rather have white or Gabriel over dier or Sanchez.
Spurs are a better side but there's not much in it, your last statement is complete nonsense. If that was the case there would have been a lot more than two points separating them last season.

It would be nice to have two transfer threads - one for Hibs (or even one for Hibs/all things Scottish), plus a separate one for England. Because some people do seem interested in what's happening in English football, but there are also lots who are not at all remotely interested. Keeping them separate would surely keep everyone happy?

Because some people do seem interested in what's happening in English football, but there are also lots who are not at all remotely interested. Keeping them separate would surely keep everyone happy?
(or as happy as anyone gets on hibs.net...!)
Good idea! The power is in your hands, you start the thread for non-Scottish transfer gossip and we'll all follow your lead, fingers crossed.

I'd love us to sign Fletch, appreciate it would mean Doidge would need to leave.
Just feel Fletch would offer us so much, from an experience point of view, helping our younger forwards, but also still having enough quality to be a player at this level.

The Scottish premiership is far from the highest level, I'm sure he's still at a level where he'd offer more than Doidge. As much as I like the big man I genuinely can't remember the last time he was even decent, never mind played well.

In fairness, he had a rough season starting with getting covid which disrupted his pre season and then a serious injury which he never seemed fully fit after. Still think he can be a very useful player for us, really would be a shame to see him leave.

From reading stoke fans views on him they thought he was past it, slow and injury prone.
I suppose a run of games and not being injured though he could look quality. His touch, holding up and heading could be very important in a Jack Ross team.

If that was the case there would have been a lot more than two points separating them last season.Hearing the name Doherty still grits my bones!

Fletcher scored 3 goals in 40 appearances last term with 0 assists.
9 goals in 42 the season before.
A goal every 7 games essentially over the two seasons.
A goal every 13 games essentially over last season.
Couple that with the fact he is 35 and the Stoke fans were saying he is past it, could hardly move and was regularly injured, if that was any other striker that hadn’t played with Hibs before, I’d expect many would be calling the signing out as a poor one.

He’s nowhere near playing for Wales 😂
He was going to be called up around the time he got injured. Chances are probably slim now unless he gets back to banging goals in.

I'm interpreting that as LJ gave CD the option of moving on but CD chose not to because of personal circumstances
Looks like the rumours about Rocky attracting interest/being offered around are true, there's an evening news article behind a pay wall that Patrick has not long tweeted. Seems like he's staying
That seems an odd interpretation of what LJ said? It sounds like he is keen to keep him here and use him.

I don’t know seems fair, there’s interest from down south and he chose to stay cause his mrs is doing a law degree up here, definitely sounds as though the choice was given to CD to leave if he wanted too.
JD looks to on his way then according to that as well also comes over that there’s a replacement lined up already which is good news I’d hate to be left scrambling to find someone should this drag on further into the window

Closer than you might think. He would have been the squad at the start of last season (Finland I think) if he had not been injured.

Sounds like Doig won't be here too much longer and definitely by end of the window! Hopefully would rather it was sooner to reuse the cash. Im confident LJ will bring in Quality and tbh prob already has a few things lined up in advance.

We are fortunate enough to have Stevenson then Mitchell as cover, for me Stevenson is a better player than Doig anyway, if there was ever a player I'd be happy to lose for 2 or 3m it's Josh Doig, he's defensively suspect, he doesn't contribute with goals and assists, don't see the fuss personally..

Not odd IMO.
He doesn’t state “we’re dying to keep him”. LJ is basically alerting Scottish teams that Doidge is available IMO.

Stoke fans responding to Dundee Utd fans online are saying these days Fletcher plays well as part of two upfront, not scoring much and not much pace but still holding the ball up and creating for others.
If that's true then it's definitely for the best we didn't sign him, as that doesn't seem to be the system we're playing and we have Doidge who can do that role should we choose to.

I agree with JimBhibees. I think we'll see a completely different JDH to the one we saw under Maloney.

Any update/names on the CB and attacker were after?
Been mentioned that the centre back is 24, tall and played in league 2, mention of Aapo Halme but is there any truth in that or is it someone else? Seems odd LJ and BK supposedly said it was done when in Portugal.
Someone said if we get the attacker it will end thr “is Josh Campbell good” debate which I can only assume means they would be known quality.
Any ideas?

Looks like the Johnson telling Doidge he can go rumours aren't true. Doig on the other hand looks less positive
That's as honest a response as I've seen from a Hibs manager to that type of questioning. I didn't take it that Doig was definitely away, but certainly setting expectations that we'll let him move if the right offer comes in as we want players who want to be here.
Similarly it read to me like there's been a very honest conversation with Doidge saying there can be a place for him but there is a performance expectation and he's not a guaranteed starter, up to him if he wants to stay and earn that place or if he wants to try his luck elsewhere.
Obviously the real proof starts Saturday but I get the impression that LJ is creating the right type of environment to get the best out of the players we have. Clear and honest expectations and making sure people are enjoying being at the club. If so, that's a recipe for success.

But .net rule is every other teams players are better then ours. JDH was exceptional when he started with us and then struggled post covid and the shackles of no risk football. I fully except him to be excellent once more now we have Kenneh in the no6 role.

Sounds like it’s just getting the contracts sorted for the defender. BK said he had 2 offer accepted for CBs and it was up to LJ which one he wanted.

Not a transfer but reading LJ regarding Nisbet and saying he's making good progress. He could be back in October maybe beginning of November.
That's fantastic news as I thought he'd be out until Christmas. I'm sure Hibs will only have him playing when it's ok to do so .

Would rather have a fit and firing Doidge to be honest.
Back to his best he would almost be like a new signing.

our last fixture before the World Cup is the 12th of November, I wouldn’t be surprised if we don’t see him before that, and the 5 weeks or so of the World Cup means he can get some solid training in with LJ and the rest of the squad without matches disrupting that period

I’d expect that to be the case.
I think he had indicated he wanted to be fit and available for the World Cup should we get there. If we had then Hibs may have been more tempted to try rush him back to an extent to get him there. Without the World Cup though I’d imagine he’ll be out until the winter break is finished.

You would think with only a 3 year deal up to the age of 19 Hibs would hope he'd be first team material soon. Which seems a big ask of a 16 year old
