Chicago Fire is bringing Schaumburg, Ill.-native Chris Mueller home from Hibs, per sources.
Orlando City will receive GAM and other assets for Mueller's MLS rights.
Verbal agreement in place, paperwork to be finished, but Mueller could be available to play this weekend. #cf97 https://t.co/8RHrZYiu0R

It was Mathie for the first half of the season before he got binned. Responsible for James Scott amongst other signings….
Now? Depends on whether you listen to journalists, pundits, Ron Gordon or whoever….something along the lines of a committee including the head coach, organised by Ian Gordon, loans coordinator is Eddie May?

Don’t think we paid a fee for him. Like others I’ve heard he’s on big money, money he’s not looked to be worth. Bigger concern for me is we have no manager in place but we appear to be making decisions about players coming in and going out.

Do American teams even pay transfer fees ? I think the move was sold to him on the basis that moving to us and doing well would put him in the shop window for a move to England. It’s certainly not worked out, guess we just want him off the wage bill.

Please can you clarify as you seem to been in the know how, why is this sad indication to how poorly we are being run at the moment?
Did the lad request to leave, homesick maybe, or as others state the start of getting rid of people who have not perfomed.
As a club on the pitch we have underperformed but we have all endured much worse, and as a business we are making progress to enable the playing side to improve, therefore would challenge your statement.

So with our current squad (not including those on loan like Gogic etc) the following players could leave
Macey - Offered to clubs supposedly
Porteous - Last year of contract and you’d imagine we want some money
McGregor - Surely now moves to his coaching role
Rocky - Loan ends but option to buy
Jasper - Loan ends but option to buy (hope we do)
Scott - Loan ends
Allan - Out of contract
Wright - Out of contract
That’s loads of room to manoeuvre for the new manager and it’s essential the recruitment replace those guys with first team quality. I actually think the players left are decent and will just need to add to it and buy players for the starting 11.
Doig could also potentially leave given the interest in him whilst Tait and Mackay return from loan.
Arsenal also have a recall option on Clarke which they hopefully don’t take, would love to see him sign permanently.

Should find out when the new manager comes in whether McGinn stays another season too, unless we go ahead with that without their consent.
Always a chance taking a punt on a player from a league in a different country, maybe it's his wife that's not settled, remember she'll have zero friends over here, thankfully we payed nowt for him, can't force anyone to be here that doesn't want to be here.

Possibly, depends on whether the club want to activate it as well as him though. I doubt he be in any rush to leave so the final say should be from the next manager. No point handing out a contract and wage to someone who isn’t going to be part of the next manager’s plans.

Usually any year option will have to be agreed by both parties, Hibs might want to use the option but he may not and vice versa.

Who said they want the owners removed and the board? But you can’t deny the clubs in a bit of a mess just now. The structure seems to be all over the place. We’ve hired and fired a manager in the same season. We’ve finished bottom 6 in a league that really isn’t great quality wise. We have the owners son in a position that he doesn’t appear to be qualified to be in.
You can consider getting to a semi then put out from our rivals (yet again) as a success if you want, but not for me.
Edit - not to mention one of our main sponsors being an absolute scam. Really embarrassing for any top club that can’t identify that when it was as clear as the nose on your face.

Where did i say getting beat in a semi was a success? Would you rather Malomey was still here? Surely admitting getting it wrong and sacking him is better than continuing om the downward spiral? I actually like he did that. Recruitment could be better, but Clarke was a good signing, as was Mitchell, or does the recruitment team only get highlighted with the wrong signings?

Na I’m glad Maloneys gone but they brought him here in the first place. If they’d got the appointment correct we wouldn’t be in the position we’re in now.
Recruitment “could be better” is a massive understatement. Recruitments been terrible. Clarkes been a good signing, Mitchell’s been injured the majority of his time here.
We both have our opinions on how things are going at the club just now and they aren’t going to align. I’m just worried about the direction we’re going in and I’m struggling to see how anyone can argue otherwise.

I reckon if we’d appointed correctly and went on to have a decent season it would’ve softened the blow a bit. The club certainly can’t win when they’ve went from 3rd to bottom 6 in the space of a season.

But thats exactly what i said, we made a bad appointment and it cost us top 6.. What club has never made a bad manager appointment. It happens. I dont see how the whole club is a shambles (your point) because we have dropped in the league??
I’ve already answered that further up. The structure at the club seems to be a lot messier than it previously was. People in roles they aren’t qualified for. Sponsors that are scams. As I said, I’ve already answered that.

Unless he's wanting a move back down South, I find it strange that we'd want to punt him and replace him with a 37 year old. Macey is one of the few players I'd keep out the current squad.

Really seems a rudderless ship at present.
Recruiting is a big issue if a guy we signed 4 months ago is leaving already.

Not sure about hundreds but we have had a lot of players over the years who were on Hibs books for a lot longer than 4 months but played a lot less time than Mueller did. I personally thought/think there is ability in there - whether he is suited for the Scottish league not sure but he looked capable in his first few games. If he hasn't settled then I would rather we cut our losses than keep him for 12/18 months and give him very little game time.

If his girlfriend wants to go home then fine. But this is a career move.
Unless he's simply not happy with his employer...in which case it shouldn't be passed off as some kind of personal decision about missing home

Regardless of the back story or reasons for leaving the simple truth is that Mueller was nowhere near good enough for Hibs and never would become so.
No pace
No strength
No trickery
Very one-footed
It is a blessing we have been able to move him on and use his wages, whatever they were and whoever cares, to reinvest in the team.

Those stats are fairly meaningless. Stopping a 35 yard trundler with your feet has the same value as a Banks type save. I just checked and he's right in the middle for save percentages. He's well above Joe Lewis and Alan McGregor. Dabrowski is actually 2nd to Gordon but 6 games isn't really representative.

Macey is a decent keeper for the SPL, no more no less. He'll pull off a few decent saves and he'll make a few stupid mistakes. Genuinely good keepers are hard to come by at our level. To be honest, he's probably much of a muchness along with many other Scottish top flight keepers. I s he really any better or worse than Zander Clark, or Joe Lewis, or whoever Livingston's keeper is? The current top 3 have all got decent keepers who'll win them points over the course of the season. Craig Gordon has saved Hearts on far too many occasions to mention and those points have largely got them where they are - without him, there's no danger they'd be as comfortable as they are in 3rd.
For me, the main issue with Macey is that he doesn't seem to inspire confidence. The defence don't seem to entirely trust him (and he doesn't seem to entirely trust them), which is why we constantly look in a panic in the back, despite our decent defensive record - it's one of those weird discrepencies when the stats don't add up. If I was an opposing team manager, I'd be encouraging players to fire balls into our box at every opportunity.
Personally, I think that Kev D has got more room for development in him and I'd be looking at either installing him as our Number 1 going forward or spending the cash on an established, consistent keeper (not necessarily one currently playing here). David Marshall might be that man, though I think we've actually missed the boat on that one.

Marshall was widely mooted during the winter window as a target and looks likely to be attracted by a joint role not available at the time. If we are bringing in a head coach and not a manager then the club will be putting together the coaching team package with their prefered candidate right now, hence RGs plane ticket to EDI.He is very much on the radar.
Macey isn't being "touted" as such but his form, his ready made replacements already in the club [Kev and Muzz] meaning his agent will be working his little black book on his client's behalf without Hibs having to do too much.

Do we not have first refusal or a buy back clause or something with Murray? Sure I saw that at the time and as you say maybe a good one to keep an eye on, always had the potential so a decent run may see him take off.

Maybe Macey would be happy to try his luck back in England
But it does seem strange that without a Manager in place we are talking about a keeper being a priority and no mention of the midfield
Will McGennis get back fit and find the same form and last the season
Of Nisbet doesn’t come back till December it will be mid feb before he is match fit
Doidge you would assume we will try and off load as he isn’t even featuring now So it’s Strikers plural we need

I’m 100% with you.
I think Macey is a good keeper and has rarely let us down, he’s also at a good age and is playing consistent football so will learn and come on a lot.
One of the last positions I’d be looking at but if someone like Marshall comes up and he’s anything like we remember him then maybe the club might see it as too good to not go for.

As opposed to the buy cheap, sell for lots of cash policy that RP also ran alongside that. O'Connor, Fletcher, Bamba, Brown, Thomson, McGinn....as a few examples of where it made us money.
All the above sold for big money. 4 of that list above were brought through by the club.
All the below (signed sometimes as direct replacements), were cheap, short-term, sub standard replacements who then had to be replaced themselves as they weren't anywhere near good enough. All signed during Petrie's stewardship.
Take your pick: Paddy Cregg. Joe Keenan. Rowan Vine. Emerson Hyndman. Chris Dagnall. Shefki Kugi. Pa Kujabi. Matelevicus. Miquel Nelom. Rherras. Tom James. We can add another 2 dozen minimum to that list, but it would be too depressing even for a bedwetter like me.
In summary, it is, and was a Chartered Accountant's take on running a football club with everything driven by the bottom line.
Forget any notion of buying in any ready-made replacements, that's waaayyy too risky for a club that appears to be scared of its own shadow at times.
It's a failed policy, and despite the PR bluster it looks like the current owner is beating the same path...it doesn't fit with the narrative of us being a "big club" or a club that styles itself as one of Scotland's foremost clubs, and I've said before it really has to change.

:faf: half of those players were signed purely for depth. You've got nelom ffs, he was a left back. We've had the same left back for 15 years, who was he replacing?
Rherras, dagnall, big dave, and kuqi were nothing more than backups either. They were poor but they weren't replacing anyone.

Aahhh, good old "depth" eh?
Half of them never kicked a ball in earnest. Adam Eckersley (sp) limped into East Mains on crutches to sign, never played a solitary game - did he sign for nowt and was paid no wages when he was here?
Like I said, recruitment under Petrie was exactly reflective of a bean counting CA's take on running a football club; knew the cost of everything and the value of nothing.
A quick Wiki check reveals that the forward players you mentioned Dagnall, Big Dave, and Kuqi collectively played 36 times for the club and scored ONE goals between them.
Still, they brought a bit of "depth" to the squad for a while, eh?
Gordon and co haven't convinced me they're not of the same mind either when it comes to assembling a team/squad capable of anything beyond mid-table mediocrity.

Yes, depth. There is a difference between a first choice striker and a 4th choice. Thinking Hibs will have 22 players of the same quality is fantasy.

You do realise you could analyse any football club and the same percentage of players will
Likely hardly get any game time ..it is simply a fact that most teams can’t afford enough quality. They will always have players that are there for cover or don’t develop/ perform in the way the club had hoped .

5 or 6 of any kind of "quality" would be nice...and certainly no trialists from the States like the two his laddie brought over who weren't up to it either; they couldn't offer any depth as they were out of their depth.

The player churn under Petrie was quite incredible, usually the same sub-standard 15/16 games dross like Paddy Cregg and the like, bought to replace players like Kevin Thomson.
A bit like the January window where Boyle is sold for top dollar and replaced by a 20-year old loan player from the EFL signed for buttons.

Jasper has shown in my opinion, that he is a quality footballer. Thinking of the assists in the Motherwell game as examples. One of the problems is that the Scottish game is so physical and he won't be protected by referees, he will be muscled and kicked out of games. Latapy had similar issues but Matty Jack would muscle and kick those opponents who went after Latapy until they realised that what they give out will be returned with interest. We don't have a midfield body guard in the mould of Matty Jack nor Marvin Bartley, when you have wee tricky players you need someone with muscle. I mentioned Matty and Marvin but memory tells me that David Gray would also get physical in defence of other Hibs players, I remember him going through Scott Brown after Brooney put wee Omonga in the air and on to the boards.

Boyle showed a spark of something despite his finishing being terrible at the time it was clear there was a player in there.
I quite honestly, other than a few tricks and bits of fancy footwork, see absolutely nothing in Jasper. League two fodder who will likely end up in the seventh or eighth tier down south. No goals, only assists came against a ten man Motherwell, constantly runs himself into trouble and doesn't get out of it, passing is poor, creativity is poor. It's a sad indictment of our season and quality of football that there's a debate over him because he's a poor mans Alex Harris in my book.

His contribution v Motherwell was impressive, regardless of them having ten men. For one he created space, took it to the byline and set up a chance Melkersen could hardly miss. The other was an inch perfect lofted pass.
He's raw and needs coached, but Sylvester is a talent. He's 20 year old and has only played 30 first team games in his career. I think he has a good future in front of him, at a level way better than you suggest.

I can’t help but feel he’s not 100% fit since the international break where he picked up a knock. He came back and played for us and was hooked at half time and played little since then.
For me it’s a no brainer and we should be looking to make him a permanent signing.

Without doubt we need a stand out central midfielder, from the Maloney Q&A he obviously realised it but it was too late to then. A fit Magennis might be that player but a fit Magennis might never exist again. A good central midfielder (or two) can make everyone around them better. The player needs to be comfortable taking and retaining possession in deep areas and then turn and get the team forward. Their first thought should not be looking to offload the ball to who ever will take it as soon as possible.
Brown had it
Thomson had it
Boozy had it
Liam Miller had it
Allan had it during his first spell
McGeough had it
McGinn had it
and while not being a central midfielder Boyle also had it and along with his goals & assists we greatly missed his drive when he left.

Nah, perfectly serious pal.
I'm fed up with the drivel being spouted at my club, to be honest, and the fans being treated as mugs.
Gordon states the transfer window was a "good one", Kensell states it was 7/10.
Today we're told by Kensell that Mueller struggled with the physical side of the game in Scotland -did the recruitment committee not know the game's physical here when they signed him?
Then to cap it off today, there was a paean to the Board written by Moira Gordon, which turns out that they're unhappy with the criticism being levelled at Ian Gordon, as it's "apparently frustrated Hibs that his role in deciding personnel has been greatly exaggerated".

Some fair points pal, in answer to your points, I'll give you one example:
I've got experience of successfully staging events. One match day approx 5/6 years ago after queueing for 45 minutes in BTG with my late father for two bottles of warm, over-priced beer, i contacted the club with some tips on how the whole experience in there could be improved and service speeded up, with some additional modest financial outlay.
It took them 3 weeks to respond that it was really nothing they could control as BTG was sub-contracted to the company "Azure", but they would "pass on my comments".
Never heard a dicky bird from them - but (IMO) it was indicative of how we were ran under Petrie, with the cheap option being the main driver of everything, which did the club more harm than good and dropped the general expectation level amongst the fans (again, all IMO).
Fast forward to the new regime and we seem to be making the same mistakes particularly in player recruitment, and I'm genuinely worried as to the direction of the club; as someone on another thread articulated better than I could that they're worried that Gordon is trying to reinvent the club into something that no Scottish club will ever be, and I share these concerns.
I chirp away on here along with the rest of us because 1) It's a supporters forum for discussion, and 2) It's more effective than contacting the club, as they don't really want to engage with the fans, notwithstanding Gordon's address last week.

With the amount in the press lately about Ian Gordon and the transfer committee I think it sounds like we’re going to heavily back the new manager this summer.
That’s a couple of times now we’ve heard about a bigger budget for whoever comes in and with so many players leaving I can see us spending a fair bit to bring the right players in.
I think the club know they have to as alot of fans are very unhappy about alot of things that’s taken place over the last 7 months or so.
They’ll be desperate to get us back on side and quick.

Think the same. Which is why I can't wait for this season to be over and then some excitement can start when the new transfers start rolling in.

That moira Scotsman price is awful. So they are now suggesting that the manager has final say on even the short list of players for positions? So we currently aren’t looking at any players? Fans maybe wouldn’t have the “wrong idea” if they stopped spouting this stuff and digging much bigger holes.

Where is all this Boyle returning chat coming from?
Is he out of favour at the Saudi club? Made it known he is homesick? Or just people giving their mind a wee treat?
Wishful thinking.

Honestly don’t think there is anything unclear about that article . Maybe a bit of spin support for the club in way it is presented but nothing is unclear or awful . The committee approach is coming under attack at times . The reality is almost every club acts like this, the CEO and ownership structure will most always have input into signings. Managers rarely get free choices to make . We’ve simply formalised the process a bit ..
It’s also easy to understand that work will still be ongoing building recommendations ready for a new manager to get involved. Don’t see anything in it to be stressed about .

Maybe we're "frustrated" at the total **** show the club's become?
That’s their opinion and as owners/employers they are of course going to promote the club in a positive light. Yes there are issues but why would you use Moira ‘I love the jambos’ Gordon’s article as an example. These are journalists that take pleasure in looking at everything that is said/written by the club even if it’s positive and turning it into a negative piece.
You are doing exactly what they are doing imho - the bit about your dad getting warm beers. Yes unacceptable but did you not complain at the time? I also understand that it’s the small things that also matter but we’ve all been in this sort of position.
As for players etc - Chris mueller didn’t work out and he’s left. You are again doing what the media is doing. Rather than wishing the lad all the best you look at the negative. Non story for me but you see the negative.
You cannot see anything positive about the club and haven’t done so for 20 years…. Mediocrity is something no one wants but to say we’ve accepted it is a clear example of what you think of the 2007 LC victory and the SC win in 2016. So do you think Rod Petrie deserves credit for the 2016 SC win??
I’ll let you believe everything written by the Jambo love in team and Whilst it’ll be a rollercoaster ride I’ll try and look forward to the end of this season (cannot wait for it to finish) and what the summer and next season holds.

I found that article to be a helpful explanation of Ians role, and was re-assured that he isn't scouting players personally. But each to their own I suppose.
RE Mueller, he struggled with the physical side which to me is a failure to adapt on the part of the player. He had the technical ability but if the player doesn't adapt their game and learn to live with the physical side of the game what are the club supposed to do?

Who is directing the scouting department Jim? Who decides the priority of player type? It’s not a hard question to answer. If it’s not Ian Gordon who is it.

Wouldn't have thought much will be going on unless there have been players we have already agreed to sign however would assume they would be kept in abeyance until the new manager comes in which will be next week or so. Might even be something they discuss at interview e.g. We have an option on this player etc. As for scouting think players already known will be kept tabs on until new guy comes in to decide. Do you think we will be signing players between managers when a new guy will be in soon.

It’s the same fluff piece that’s basically been written by the club. I’m almost always a happy clapper. But I’m very unhappy with how the club is currently being run.

I am very unhappy we have had such a poor season however don't particularly see anything too conspiratorial in what Gordon jr seems to be doing and think it is hugely unfair to him personally to be criticised for a lot of decisions he is unlikely to have made.

Is he an out and out striker? Not a great scoring record for a 28 year old! Late developer by the looks if it!
What about the lad at Swindon…. McKirdy? He’s been mentioned! Similar scoring record?

Can play anywhere front 3. Great eye for goals though and experienced enough to do well up here. I don’t want another project player for upfront. Needs to be someone who will simply score goals for us. Had a good few seasons at Cheltenham.

He’s been good this season but 1 in 4 last season at League Two level isn’t anything to write home about at all.
He could be ok but I’m not sure he jumps out as anything special at all based purely on his stats up until this season. If he was to sign then hopefully he’s a late developer.

Good to know. Totally agree with you.
I think we need at least 2 strikers with Nisbet being injured and that will also depend on players leaving…. Ie Doidge. If any are let go then 3 plus Melkerson for next season!

Not sure why we'd assume Doidge is leaving now Maloney is gone? He's under contract and proven at this level.
Depends on how the new manager wants to play but I'd suggest we need to keep Doidge, sign another physical striker who can ideally play on his own. Have them 2 competing for one slot and Melkersen/Nisbet competing for another. We can get through til Nisbet is back with Melkersen and other youngsters IMO.
If Doidge leaves we need to get our money back on him.

As he was not " a Maloney player" , perhaps getting him fit was not a priority. If he can't get fit enough for first team football then that surely is career ending , not time to move on.
