A comical day from hibs to leave it this late and bring back a loan that wasn’t a success in his first spell. Kensell has to go.

It's going to be a long and tough season ahead. Maybe Gray can work some magic and get this squad competing at the right end of the table but it's not looking very promising at the moment.

A couple of the signings are promising but we've dropped the ball this last week. To go for a player like McGowan and end up with Triantis and possibly another CB is bizarre. We've clearly (and correctly) identified central midfielder as a area to improve but we have put all of our eggs into one basket with McGowan when it was looking less than promising over the last few days.

It just feels like despite all the personnel changes, reviews etc it's the same mistakes made and no lessons are learnt.

The Black Knights investment looks meaningless at this stage.

Part of the problem we have is allowing these clubs to identify this talent before us. He was looking a player at Ayr by all accounts. We’ve been caught napping for too long,before the Gordon’s came in also.
Crap end to the window considering we could’ve looked elsewhere when it was clear dundees intent was to sit and wait on Celtic.

I hope we weren’t taken for a ride on this transfer to make it look like we were trying hard.

It's not about deadline day, it's about not having a squad that's good enough.

In fact, I was desperate for us to get our business done early to avoid ending up this exact situation with McGowan.

I couldn't care less about deadline day but our squad simply isn't good enough to compete for 3rd/4th.

It's going to be another tough season, and likely a bottom half finish. We've had far too many of those under this owner and after bring told about "game changing investment", I think it's reasonable fans are annoyed at where we've ended up. We've had loads of time to prepare and still have huge issues all over the team.

I wasn't a million miles off with this. The signing of Triantis is a similar level of anti climax. We put all our eggs in the McCowan basket and then shat the bed last minute and loaned a centre half to play centre mid. Brilliant

No matter how folk spin it we come out of the McCowan deal looking really weak. Same with Murray even though we maybe never offered him as good terms as Dundee. We are an absolute basket case of a club and the fans deserve better. The deal with the black Knights must be absolutely in the gutter as thought it was nailed on we would get a few players from them.

That has to be the most disappointing transfer windows we've had. I'm sure we've had worse player for player but when you add in the hype of the BK deal and this being the first transfer window for this game changing deal it is pretty brutal. Just adding to it was all the noise leading up to deadline day of us signing an attacking midfielder, a left back, a centre back and striker - all the McCowan chat.
We were prepared to pay near a million for McCowan but we couldn't come up with any alternatives for that kind of money... at this level.. really.

Then add in Dundee having a link up with Burnley and bringing a few boys up from them. Can't quite believe none came in from the BK group, literally what's the point.

Feels like adding insult to injury bringing Ttiantis back, not just that he wasn't good enough last time out or that we just signed Kwon, more that we have DMs but crying out for someone to fill the gaping hole of attacking mid.

All window told we couldn't bring in more until some left - emptied about 30 now.

From the 9 brought in, none feel like business we wouldn't have done without the BK deal and most coming in already feel like filler.

Bowie, Myko.and Kwon look like real good business, 3 out of 9 and 2 of them loans. Still need a keeper aswell.

I wasn't a million miles off with this. The signing of Triantis is a similar level of anti climax. We put all our eggs in the McCowan basket and then shat the bed last minute and loaned a centre half to play centre mid. Brilliant

No matter how folk spin it we come out of the McCowan deal looking really weak. Same with Murray even though we maybe never offered him as good terms as Dundee. We are an absolute basket case of a club and the fans deserve better. The deal with the black Knights must be absolutely in the gutter as thought it was nailed on we would get a few players from them.

Much as some of the posts on here are a tad hysterical, I include myself at times, it is astonishing how some have avoided even acknowledging that the unravelling of the McCowan deal does not reflect well on those at Hibs.

In no way is Triantis an alternative to McCowan. They are completely different players.

All I can say is good luck to David Gray. I will support you and the side through thick and thin. It's just a shame that those in charge have not given him the squad he deserves, but I've a hunch Gray will have known this when he took the job.

I’m inclined to agree… but I thought (probably wrongly) that Kwon was going to allow Newell to do that.

Totally agree. It’s remarkable that we are actually in a worse position. I don’t think anyone would’ve believed at the end of the window we’d still have Newell, Campbell, JDH and kenneh listed as midfielders
