Triantis filled a slot almost accidentally, but the fact we haven't really replaced even him is quite a damning indictment of our midfield.
Even though Monty had played him in the DM role before when in Oz?

Be surprised if anyone offers us a fee for Kenneh, they can arrange a pre contract in January. I get a fee would secure him now and there might be competition in Jan. But a loan seems the smart option for other clubs.

Twice, once as a sub for the last 20 mins, then the next again week in a match they lost. Then never again. :aok:

Sidibeh scored two excellent goals for St Johnstone at the weekend guy is rapid burnt off Triantis and Rocky for pace at ER to score running into a headwind in a recent defeat
I'm in my 50s and would fancy myself beating Rocky in a headwind.

What does that matter? He was signed as a centre half, was utterly hopeless, ended up filling a gap in midfield only after he was bombed to the bench. He wasn't signed to be an answer to any midfield issues.

Definitely incredible work but do we really know much about this guy? Can anyone remember much about him at St Mirren? Hasn’t played a game for Celtic and doesn’t look like he scores any goals. You’ve got to guess that he has to be reasonable if Celtic signed him. Guessing with his connections in Asia that he was an Ange P signing. This certainly sounds like this could be exciting but know very little about him. Certainly all very left field and unexpected!

I think Vente still had a lot of fans who had faith in him at the end of the season and put it down to lack of service etc

His confidence plummeted and so did the fans confidence in him

Hopefully get a decent chunk of our money back then. Feel he could probably still do well over there.
You'd imagine is he's away we will need to get another striker as well. Doubt we would just go with myko who had a poor injury record and theb Bowie who isn't an out and out. Need to have an option we can rotate, bring off the bench etc.

Watching him Sunday on and off the ball - really didn’t look bothered and seemed like he knew he was leaving.
With a half fit Myko starting on Sunday and Bowie coming on before him.
Shame if true as would have loved for it to work out but just hasn’t happened.
Wouldn’t be surprised if he goes elsewhere and scores a load of goals. Be interesting to see how he does.
Wish him well if he does leave.
Seemed a good signing on paper with 21 goals in 38 goals and 23 goals in 38 in Holland.

I’ll be honest B. I wasn’t trying to be funny. He can’t read the game and always seems to a yard or half yard out of position and rarely seems in control of a situation. Physically he has all the attributes but lacks that something to make him much better. It’s definitely between his ears and speed of thought is right up there.

Me too, but it sort of makes sense when you've got as many non-contributing players tied up on long deals as we do.
If we've got 15 players out of contract next season and if we actually have plans to keep our head coach and sporting director in place for more than a year or so, then we can be making proper plans from January to be getting the squad sorted further next summer.
It's not ideal, but is probably a way to get from A to B.

Interesting that they quote how "quickly and efficiently" the deal was done.
No "concluding a long pursuit" of the player in question.
I wonder if we've recently turned our attention to the player after moving on from the pursuit of others?

Happy with Kwon. 6ft 4, CDM. Just what we need! That’s one nailed down. Now need to try get McCowan. Then newell and Campbells days of playing every week are numbered.
Vente off to it seems. Best thing for him tbh, snippets of being ok but has to be classed as a pricey flop.

If I am being greedy I’d still love McCowan and Campbell, those two and Kwon would be a solid midfield 3
Who was it that said we were in for Campbell, is this still an option?
We also desperately still need a centre half, especially if we’re ever playing 3 at the back as that’s a complete and utter no no with Both Rocky and Ekpiteta

Prefer the direction we are going in with signings.
Hoilett and now Kwon both by all accounts done well on loan in our league last year.
Two centre halves coming in seen as leaders with hundreds of games under their belt at a comparable level.
Can see the logic in the signings we are making - got to be more confident in the % of it actually working out and players coming in adding value - it is just the extent of the movement that we actually need that is so massive.

I live in Paisley and saints fans loved him and wanted him back so it should be a good signing

Yep, watched him play for CCM almost every week throughout the season, if our midfield lacks energy then Nisbet has that in abundance and more, what he lacks in height he makes it up with his bullish performances, and thats against players who are tall and quick, he doesnt shirk or look out of place on the pitch. Lets see how he manages ***** Scottish pitches and weather 😬

Cheers mate, just got this off a Dutch site
There is a good chance that Dylan Vente will return to the Eredivisie soon. The striker of the Scottish Hibernian is about to complete a loan transfer to PEC Zwolle.
'Earlier in the transfer summer, Vente was already linked to PEC, but a deal seemed impossible at the time', writes Voetbal International, which knows that Zwolle and Hibernian have now reached an agreement. Only the medical examination can stand in the way of the temporary transfer to Zwolle, where the 25-year-old Vente has to compete with Thomas Buitink.
Vente has been under contract with Hibernian for a year now. The Scots acquired him for just under a million euros from Roda JC, for which he scored 21 times in the Kitchen Champion Division. In Scotland, the counter is running slower. After 25 matches, Vente, who has already played minutes in the Eredivisie for Feyenoord, has four goals.

I've never seen him play so not an opinion on Nisbet, but i don't think our midfield lacks energy, its quality and physicality that we're missing.
Have to wonder why Hibs, Hearts and Aberdeen who all have track records of signing from A-League have presumably passed on this guy? Especially on a free.
Well, with Hibs recruitment record I think we can safely pass on that one, and with the other two I don't think I'd be a million miles away if I said his size would be a significant factor or more likely, like scores of other players, they just didn't fancy him.
I also don't think anyone is saying that Nisbet is a world class superstar.
But he certainly would have been an improvement to our midfield, and is the type of character who would have been good to have around the dressing room.
It will be interesting indeed to see how he adapts to a relegation battle in the Scottish highlands, (assuming Ross County are involved in one but pretty sure Ross County will be better for having him in their squad than not having him.

Not sure a diminutive Australian midfielder who has never played outside his country is what you need in a Scottish Premiership relegation fight. Time will tell.
Never played outside his country?
His club won a couple of million dollars for winning the Asian Club cup last season ....and played in numerous countries throughout Asia

What’s the strike rate for A-League players coming to the SPFL and being a hit?
Personally not fussed Nisbet going to County. Our track record with Central Coast Mariners players isn’t the greatest

Surely if there blowing out their arse then there’s no lack of effort..

From what I’ve seen of him it’s far from a certainty that he’d improve our midfield.

Guys like Campbell and NMW have incredible energy, Newell too. They'll run all day for you, just often in the wrong direction.
Look at Celtic's 2nd, theres no lack of effort or energy from the midfield trying to win the ball it's just all focussed on the wrong areas.
If that's the main thing Nisbet brings then I can understand us not being interested. Need quality and positional sense more than legs i reckon.

I wonder if the club just prefer McCowan to Nisbet and that's the reason, plus they dont want anymore players going away for international duties to the other side of the world?

Newell does not run all day for anyone least of all hibs. The attitude of Campbell and Newell was abhorrent on Sunday.
The second goal not one player tried to close down McGregor.

Got no problem with them signing other targets over Nisbet...that's their choice.
I would have liked them to based on what I have seen of him, but that's the way it goes.
Don't think we'll need to worry too much about players going away on international duties.

Talking nonsense here mate.
Theres a difference between attitude and skill. Watch the goal again. There are 4 players trying hard to press and win the ball, then when it makes its way to McGregor Campbell is caught between leaving his man or closing down, because he's a very poor defender. Eventually closes him down and tries to get his body in the way.
They all had the attitude to go and win the ball they just did it very very badly.
Thats what we're talking about here we don't need more effort we need more quality.
Hopefully Kwon is the 1st piece of that.

Celtics 2nd was full of players being dragged into the wrong area very slowly. At least 4 players in wrong areas and not doing anything to actually stop a pass, or mark the pass to mcgregor. It was a horrible goal to lose.

I agree he didn't but Campbell thinks he does .
Watch the video back again he knows Hatate is behind him that stops him charging out until too late.
A competent player in that position is either already ahead of his backline trusting his Centre Halfs or charging full steam as soon as the ball is on it's way to McGregor recognising that he is the danger.
Gray played a second striker as CDM against a champions league team, predictably he messed up defensively. Doesn't mean he lacks effort or energy.

Triantis as you said, on loan from Sunderland.
I guess you can argue that they both played for Mariners at some point for CCM if it suits, bus as I say, I can’t think of a player we have signed directly from CCM.

I agree totally, although you seem to think that indicates low effort or fitness and i don't see that, I just see lack of defensive ability. We played 3 attacking mids in midfield against the best team in the country.

From looking online, he had signed a pre contract for MacArthur, but it doesn’t appear he ever officially signed for them, because we bought him out of the pre contract.

We bought him from MacArthur.
He’s scored 7 career goals by 25 years old and never scored more than 3 in a season. He’s not really a goal threat.
Not scared to have a pop and assists which is more than can be said of every one of our 123 midfielder players barring Campbell
I think he would have been a good player to bring in, it obviously wouldn’t have been an expensive option either by where he’s ended up but it’s gone now he’s someone else’s player and we’ll see how he gets on.

Mate, you can use Wiki as your gospel reference if you wish, but given that I changed Martin Boyle’s city of birth on his page a few weeks ago, I tend not to use it as a source of truth.
He signed for Macarthur, from Mariners. Hibs came in before the season started and negotiated the transfer fee(about $500k)and paid the transfer fee to Macarthur, not Central Coast Mariners, because he was by then a Macarthur player.
A similar thing happened with Devlin at Hearts..He last played for Wellington but signed for Newcastle. Hearts came in and signed him before he played a game for Newcastle, but as he was Newcastle’s player that’s who got the transfer fee.

Mate, again, I gave up using Wiki as a source of truth ages ago.
His contract at Mariners had expired at the end of the season and he had signed one with Macarthur.
Hibs approached Macarthur, negotiated a fee and paid the transfer fee to Macarthur.
Mariners had zero involvement in the transfer as he was no longer a Mariners player.

Fee will be lower than what we would of got this summer. I think Melkerson still had a couple of year at the point he moved so didn't impact value as much. That team would be able to pick him up for free if they waited 6 months after the loan.
