Some Aberdeen fans seem to think they’re also after Ojo, don’t know if that’s just guesswork though.

Interesting one.
i really hope we don’t miss out on him and he goes to Aberdeen.
Surely with only a year left on his contract, handing in a transfer request and refusing to train the fee wouldn’t be large?
Hope we are still in for him and get a deal done.

IF they can afford him so can we, with our bit extra investment

Player power will win the day as we have seen as a club before. I'm convinced he will be a Hibs player.

I agree about Halkett. Not sure about Walker. How effective Naismith is will depend on how fit he is. Overall they may have a stronger squad than they did last year but at the end of the day they’ll still have loser Levein in charge.

Yes, blatantly making stuff up. The back four refusing to pass to him line is made up, completely. Bell played 1 game and came on in another? I'm sure they were more confortable with him indeed :faf:
He was really good for 2 years, brilliant for the end of the 3rd.
Dearie me!
I think it is you who are making things up
I did not say they refused to pass the ball back to Rocky
They were uncomfortable with a goalkeeper who is not a natural footballer
I remember Neil Lennon holding his head in his hands as he repeatedly kicked the ball out of play or to an opponent under no pressure in his own box in the play off
Not surprised Lenny had a meltdown 😁
He was out with a hand injury for a few months at the start of last season Bogdan came in did well after a shaky start kept the gloves until he too got injured and Rocky came in and was totally brilliant
Bogdan was more comfortable with the ball at his feet
TBF his distribution improved under Hecky but as others have pointed out was at fault with a rushed clearance versus Hearts 1-1 and a lost goal versus Aberdeen 1-2
It is part and parcel of the modern game that for a goalkeeper to be successful he has to be comfortable with a ball at his feet

Halkett certainly seemed good start of the season but then form seemed to tail away second half much like the rest of the team.
The theee of them are undoubtedly good signings and will improve them, but they were garbage last season so will need more than that.
Is Halkett better than any hibs defender? I would doubt it.

Levein promised he would only have to try and control 140' punts up to him instead of the usual 200'+.

This new non leaking Hibs FC is really impressive. Looks like we've been in contact with Scunny and/or Ojo for weeks but nothing came out until deal was called off. Similarly our other signings only crept on to the radar just before announcements. Really good but stops a lot of the fun, Petrie!

He's an attacking midfielder going by that link, There's always room for good players in the squad and its a long season but we're crying out for a strong defensive midfielder. With both bartley and milligan gone we've not really strengthened that area yet.
Like others have said previously (easy to look good on a youtube video I know) but the guy Daniel Gravenberch looks the ideal style of player I'd like to see us bring in.

I think young players trying to break into first team football are the ones who should be beefing up our squad. Hungry players who aren’t expecting to play 35-40 games a season.

The recruitment team have the availability to work on a number of different signings simultaneously, just because we may be in the process of signing another attacking midfielder does not prevent us from working on recruiting a defensive one too. The Ojo story suggests we have been doing just that.

The thing I find odd with the Ojo deal is why it’s all come out in the open now. It was all set to be done and dusted late May/early June and it only become public knowledge last day or so, pretty much a month later.

Sc.unthorpe only returned to pre-season this week so local press asked why Ojo wasn’t present. Club initially said he was injured but then truth came out, probably from his agent.

If the Ojo deal was supposed to be wrapped up late May/early June I’m surprised we haven’t moved on to other targets and got them wrapped up by now. Sort of suggests we’ve been waiting to see if it could get sorted out. Any rumours regarding defensive mid beyond Ojo?
I think last 3 signings will be upfront/player who can also play on the wing, defensive mid and goalkeeper then it will be done.

Funny how some on here are bigging up Hertz signings yet being lukewarm about ours. Halkett is a good signing but who is he going to replace. Surely Berra and souttar will be first choice assuming souttar is still there So no improvement there. Walker looked average in his last few months at Hertz so why is he suddenly as a great signing. Washington looks to be a decent signing but as a few have said he's got to work with loser levein. I don't think the signings will make a huge difference as they totally rely on Naismith. The odds of him going through the season without a breakdown must be huge. With Allan back and porteous and Boyle like new players the signings so far to my mind anyway put us a good bit better positioned than those down Georgie way. Imho.

Tons of bedwetting from the same posters who couldn't wait to stick the boot into us last season for holding out for the players we wanted and not signing a complete new team by the end of June.
This year our targets have come early so you have to big up Hearts signings.
Halkett seems a decent player but it was not a position that particularly needed strengthening. Washington again seems okay, no more than that, but you would think he was Messi the way folk are going on. He has potential, nothing more than that.
Some 'fans' just hate being positive about Hibs and can't see anything bad about the other team in Edinburgh. Let's be clear here. They were absolutely **** for 2/3rds of last season. They need much more than 2 players to sort that.

I was critical last summer and was right to be...the window was disorganised and we had a poorly balanced squad as was borne out with our results and performances from Oct to Jan.

They just signed a guy that played 15 times for the team that got promoted out of the English Championship
To suggest that doesn't look like a good signing or to not acknowledge it could be is just folly

15 appearances, that sounds not bad actually but in reality he was only on the pitch for 295 minutes, the equivalent of just over 3 games out of 46 (4140 mins)

I was critical last summer and was right to be...the window was disorganised and we had a poorly balanced squad as was borne out with our results and performances from Oct to Jan.

Without labouring the point again we have got boyle,Allan and porteous from the team that went on that unbeaten run plus the signings Hecky as made which at least two of them look cracking long term signings and are actively working on at least three other deals. So how does Hertz signing three players mean they are remotely in as good shape as us us not even considering the respective managers and how the compared when Hecky came in. No green tinted specs needed to see we are stronger. You can't come to any other conclusion. The proof is in results though so we shall see. Also the constant run of Injuries will take their toll on Naismith which may account for why he's not signed yet. If we relied on someone like Naismith we would be worried.

Fwiw I still think he's their best defender and either souttar will be away or halkett with be RB until he goes. It's not until Berra isn't there they will realise how much they rely on him. And that's from my mate whose a lifelong Jambo who thinks them not getting a new keeper is a disaster waiting to happen. Halkett had a cracking keeper behind him which he won't have with hertz. He's a good signing but won't improve them

With Ojo, could the case be that hibs and the agent are denying we are interested to stop S****horpe wanting a fee and then agreeing to release him?
Does anyone have any info regarding this and if we’re still pursing it?
Hopeful thinking I know but would love to see this lad sign. Seems perfect for us, our main player for the position and very highly thought of in England.

Think that’s wishful thinking they are other interest he said so that doesn’t fit that theory, why would they release him if he’s contractually their player still? Sounds like his agent made an arse of not instigating the get out clause the way I see it. We will be on other targets now I do believe this is dead fwiw

The player and his agent made an arse of things. They had a relegation release clause which they didn't trigger in the allotted time, so he's still under contract and as such we cannot talk to him further.

What a mess re Ojo. To think he could have been a great player for us but instead his career might take a totally different path not because of something as trivial as this.
He's obviously our first choice and now we've missed out on him due to something completely out of our hands, shame.

I agree with much of what you say. I don't think you're bedwetting at all & I agree Halkett & Washington are decent signings. Unfortunately you fall into the Hibs Net trap of distorting statistics to try & prove a point. Why quote Oct to Jan to try & prove our summer transfer window was poor? We were 2nd in the league on 19 October & had just won 6-0. Our decline after that was down to several things, notably the manager imploding & injuries but it's a huge stretch to try to justify your position by blaming it on our summer signings.

Can see them moving to three at the back.
100%. Washington is an off the shoulder type who can’t play up top on his own and plays in a 2 which means they’re almost definitely going 3-5-2.
3-5-2 is a rotten formation and should only be used in occasional games. The wheels always fall off it. The only evidence of it ever working over a whole season is Juventus about 4-5 years ago and that only worked so well because of they had no challengers.

Too much pressure on the wing backs in a 352. They can’t physically deal with a whole side of the pitch on their own and invariably get caught out when they go forward. On top of that teams that use usually fall of a cliff in Feb/March. I got that from a book called Inverting the Pyramid if yer interested.
England at the last world cup were another superb example. Young and Trippier were absolutely burst in the Semi final
343 is completely different as it has 2 wide players up front as well so it takes a significant amount of the workload off the wing backs.

Livingston away for me summed it up perfectly. Ended up with Boyle, Horgan and Agyepong all on the field at the end, none of them clear where they were supposed to be playing while the ball was pumped up the field to Hanlon to try and get an equaliser.

Great comment. I'm not a fan of 3-5-2 either but it did work for a while for Hibs 2000-01 (largely down to playing a proper sweeper and a world class one at that in Sauzee and having a tremendous wing back in Laursen). It also gave Latapy a free role which is what he needed.
Also worked reasonably well in the latter half of 2017-18 - again allowing Allan a free role but dont think we had the wing-backs to sustain it.
I think 3-5-2 can work but it needs special players to carry it off. You need the wide centre-halves to be comfortable out wide and be brave and push forward. Hanlon does it brilliantly on the left hand side. I prefer 4-4-2 as I think the most dangerous ball is a cut-back from the goal line and wing backs never get that far up. Give me a winger with an over-lapping full back any day of the week.
The other obvious thing is that the players with the least footballing ability tend to be centre-halves - so why play three????!!
I'm not sure we'd see the best of Scott Allan in a 4-4-2 so suspect we are going to end up with a 4-3-3 with a single striker and I think that is why Doidge has been brought in. Bringing in McNulty will allow us to vary it and it looks like PH wants us to be fairly flexible in how we play which links into his comments about all the different styles in the SPFL.

And yet the BBC article the other day has him explaining his disappointment but the reasons he was given under Rodgers and Lennon. It read totally different.
Players do need to be careful but papers, especially the DR, will turn anything said to suit their needs.
He wanted back last summer but Lawell moved the posts and again in January, he even mentioned the McGinn situation, Celtic think they can do as they please in Scotland.
Lennon was lucky with 3-5-2 when we got 4th, it was an injury to Gray which allowed Boyle to play wingback, a fot Gray and Boyle and we can't play that way unless we drop one of them.

It did work but the wheels did fall off it just like it always does. After we beat St Mirren 4-2 at home on the 10th of Feb, we only won 1 more league game.
It’s far to reliant on it wing backs. You need players that are incredibly fit who are willing to get up and down and are a significant threat going forward.
On top of that, you arguably need 4 cos if one gets injured, yer knackered. I remember Hearts playing wing backs in the mid-90’s with McKinlay and Frail. They were flying. Frail was incredible. He got injured and Hearts form fell off a cliff. My Jambo pal said it was like a wheel had fallen off as they had no one else that could play it.

Aye but what about the bit on Allan never dealing with us again, he was furious if my memory is right with Dempster, and the bit where he also didnt care about digging her out?
I had someone try and explain to me the other day that the earth was flat, never entered my head to tell anyone else, as there are some things that are complete bollox that repeating them only make you out to look stupid.
He was given information but didn't check it right, Allan was furious until he discovered it was Celtic's doing. The Cats mistake was giving Dempster grief when it was unjust, mistakes were made but let's continue to slag him anyway.

From listening to the S****horpe lads agent on the radio, they activated the clause to say to the club that he was leaving before 31st May as required but because they did not come to an agreement with Hibs until 11th June S****horpe are saying that was too late.
Sounds like not a release clause but a free transfer clause and S****horpe are holding him to the letter of that. In the end the player will get to leave but whether it’s to us, who knows.

Then that is S****thorpe’s fault for making this into a saga.
If the player activated the clause before May 31st and then that’s him as a free agent on June 1st and from there he can start talking with other clubs and get a deal agreed. Don’t see anything Ojo or his agent done wrong there unless there is more to this story that he’s keeping quiet?

Yep. It’ll be interesting to see if he plays in the upcoming friendly matches.
If he does sign, then that’s the striking department pretty much sorted unless we let Kamberi/Shaw move on. Personally would rather keep Kamberi as I think he’ll be a lot better than he was last season, especially with Allan back in the team and send Shaw out on loan where he will play regular 1st team football.

He was significantly worse than Paul or Darren. His positional sense and concentration were terrible which is why he never made it at Hibs.
Being a big lad and just throwing yourself at the ball is not defending. We already had James McPake doing that.

He did make at Hibs though but chose to move on as not an automatic starter. If I remember the season just gone correctly then Darren gave away a few daft penalties and a daft free kick against St Johnstone in November that they scored the winning goal from. Paul lost us the Aberdeen game with a bad pass that Gary Mckay Steven scored from. Not having a go at them and just saying I am pleased to see Jordan back in Scotland and I will monitor the Dundee reports just as I did with Fontaine going to Ross County. Having played as a typical centre forward at a decent level for years i wanted the ball played to me as a target man all the time even though i had pace as well. My last couple of years I played centre half and just wanted to get the ball out of the danger zone and didnt want it at my feet and heading was my strong point. Just making the point that most defenders are simply that and unless you are a top class player then the important thing is to get the ball to a team mate that can do something creative

I liked him.
His biggest problem was his injury-proneness. Yes, he made the type of mistake folk are talking about here but he was a 19 year old who had just broken into the team - he was going to make mistakes. They become less with experience, and due to injuries he never really got that experience with us. By all accounts he's missed a lot of football at his next club so I doubt he's probably had that learning experience yet.
If he manages to stay injury free (and I've heard pretty bleak rumours about the likelihood of that ever happening) and gets lots of games, I think Dundee could have a cracking player on their hands.

I think you're underestimating Jordon. He broke through at 19 in a very poor team. His 1st game was the Ross Caldwell game at PBS but he really endeared himself to me in a shocking Hibs performance at ER versus Arabs. We lost 3 1 going on 10 & Jordon was our only player who could hold his head high after the game. He was one of our youngest players but he led by example & IIRC scored our goal. He suffered a serious injury in about his 3rd season with us & was never quite the same player after that.
At comparative ages he was certainly a better player than Darren M who was playing Junior football at 23 though Darren has of course matured nicely. I never saw Jordon give less than 100% for the jersey & I wish him well at Dundee.

Not sure how you're defining a big whack but he will have likely been on about 2 or 3 times the average wage of normal folk. He would have been paid more than enough money to get by without taking up a second job , especially one that he could easily take up once he finishes his playing career.
As a player though I liked him , if he was coming through in the current climate with Darren and Hanlon to learn from he would have been much better placed to have had a better career.

Wan Bissaka is not a limited right back. He's an outstanding player.
Seen him when Scotland under 21s played England 21s at Tynecastle last season and he was an absolute standout. Our Ryan Porteous played the same day and they were miles apart in terms of physicality, ball anticipation, positioning and athleticism. And that's not putting Porteuous down in anyway who is a great prospect but Wan Bisakka is a phenomenal talent.

It's a football fans forum and everyone's opinion should have the same level of respect, having played football at a decent level or not doesn't really matter. Terry Butcher captained England but he was ****ing clueless.

I wish him well also as do most Genuine Hibs fans.
Me as well. Whatever Forster's limitations as a footballer there was no doubt about his commitment or his bravery … whose to say that he couldn't have improved as a player if he hadn't been absolutely cursed with injuries at a vital time in his career … good luck to him.

Not so sure they have just spent the same on a pretty limited right back.
that pretty limited right back had some of the best stats in the EPL for a full back last season. 50m is crazy money but he is a highly talented player

There was no competition for the jersey, he was miles behind Fonts, Hanlon and McGregor.
Behave yerself! Miles?? 😂
Agree with you 100%, mind you the whole England team dominated us that night, but he has been a standout in the games I've seen him in down here as well. Ironically, the last fullback I felt this good about was Kenny Sansom, also playing for Palace, against Hibs in Feb 1978 and he went on and done not too bad for himself, but this lad is far more of an athlete with it.

Always rated Forster. Brave as a lion and a likeable chap too. Wish him all the best.
Me too. Don't understand the haters on here and what they get out of spouting their negative stuff 🙄

Hecky “ From the 5 million McGinn sell on Rod can I get 1 million for McNulty”
Rod “ I gave you 200k already, now bolt ya chancer “There are better players we can spend £1 million on than McNulty...happy to have him back mate but he ain't worth that...no chance

There’s no way that we will spend a million quid on any player. There’s a wage structure at Hibs and million pound players wages( IMO) would be a heck of a lot more than what’s on offer within that structure. I really like McNulty, if he comes back to us I imagine it will be after he’s negotiated his release from Reading.

Of course he was. That's why he played over 50 1st team games by the age of 21. We all have different opinions of players but it's sometimes good to support them with facts.

Totally agree. I know a lot of folk get rid of life's frustrations at games and vent their spleen when things go wrong but it never helps the team. When you see the likes of the palace and Huddersfield fans and the backing they give their teams, even when they had horrendous home records. I do wish we were more like that. Make Easter road a place teams dread coming to. It's the way of things in social media that everybody has an opinion on everything and unfortunately these posts are mostly negative. Maybe it's our nature and we are only happy when it rains as Fran Healy said. I like to hear all opinions but would love to see more nuanced opinions and not the tsunami of negativity we have now. Small rant over.

Pretty sure it was Shirley Manson who said she was only happy when it rains. Could be talking Garbage, though.

Mulumbu has been punted by Celtc. Would expect Killie to be where he ends up but he’d surely fit the bill for the defensive midfielder that we need?

Maybe not, with Clarke no longer there.

Not sure he has the energy, PH is looking for in his midfielders. Good in a battle but anyone running at him with pace and he is like a man down.

Hecky said he wants someone who can link defence and midfield to help us play out from the back, which I think Mulumbu could do. But you are spot on, he’s not the quickest anymore and won’t get about the pitch. His injury record also isn’t great.

How many games did he start after Fontaine joined? Come on, he was clearly not close to the 3 main guys at the time, he just wasn't good enough and was moved on.

28 plus 17 as a sub scoring 2 goals
Missed the whole of the 2015/16 campaign through injury
Fonts joined us in August 2014
played 100 scored 4
Forster
played 79 scored 6

Ryan Gauld to be released by sporting with a year left on his deal. Wonder where he will end up next. Unlucky to get injured here and I think he would've made an impact had he stayed fit. Sad that some hibs fans just followed that turd Kris boyd's analysis of him after his first 45 minutes of football in about 5 months. Shouldn't have been judged on that.

Can’t see him at Hibs. Hecky said he has to go somewhere to play every week
A season with regular game time, is what Gauld needs

So 28 games in 3 years, quite a few of which will be alongside them in a back 3 before McGregor joined.
He didn't miss the whole season injured, he was fit and farmed out on loan because he couldn't get in the side.
He just wasn't good enough, awful in our relegation season, forgotten because he was younger I guess.
McGregor done everything Forster done, just to a much higher level. Great upgrade from Stubbs.

You seriously don't think a year out through injury played any part in that decision? It's ironic really in that if there's one current player who Forster can genuinely be compared to it's Darren M. Neither of them the most technically gifted, nor the quickest though I remember some swashbuckling right back runs from Jordon, but both committed, strong & physical & brave as they come & highly popular/respected by their team mates. Those are great attributes for any player & I think its pertinent that he's just been signed by an ex team mate.

I think it’s more pertinent that’s he’s just signed for a Scottish Championship team. He’s not good enough.

John McGinn was a Scottish Championship player.

Jeez you're like a dog with a bone, is there really any need to continually slag off an ex player who gave his all when he played for us.

Very good athlete and good at palace not great on the ball imo. Scored an own goal in a recent tournament game because he refused to use his left foot.
