Jack ross is an unhappy manager at the moment we are in a run of games where everyone is winnable but he needs another couple of quality players in quickly , Hibs recruitment need to match his and the fans ambitions . Everyone can see midfield is needing a bit more bite and creativity in it hopefully the club meet his expectations .

There is a global pandemic and recession on, its nothing to do with ambitions. The club needs to survive past this season. Squad is more than good enough to finish top 4 in this current (very poor) league. Its up to Ross to do that.

We’re also in the middle of a pandemic with income being cut by 50%, including season tickets down 3k, no walk ups, no hospitality. The squad we have is better than 8/9 other teams in the league, yes we’d love to strengthen but it’s up to Ross to get the best out of the squad we have, which I’ve no doubt he will.

Will Scott Allan be commenting on Lyndon Dykes future?
Marv shouldn't be commenting on a Hibs player the day before we play them.
Exactly. He’s being a naughty boy. I wouldn’t look too much into what he is saying.

As has been pointed out we don't have spare funds to do that.
I think there will be cash available, but only if the right player is available at the right price and for the right wage, with the latter two being outwith Hibs' control and not evidence of a failure to match ambitions.

If another two leave it might free up some cash but as others have said our squad is good enough for top 4. It’s down to JR to deliver it. If he’s unhappy( no proof of that) then he can do what every other person who does not want to be at Hibs and that’s leave. The fact is JR needs to do a good job at Hibs or his career will end up the same as Paul Hartley, part time in the lower leagues.

No chance Jackson goes unless another defender is joining. One injury and we'd be in real trouble.

Stephen Kingsley has been released by Hull. With Lewis coming to the latter part of his career this could be a ready made replacement?

What a bizarre take. Jack Ross is the only manager in Scotland outside the old firm who has spent a 6-figure fee on a player, and not just £100k we’re talking a quarter of a mil. A substantial investment at the best of times.
He’s a pragmatic guy and doesn’t give a slight hint of being unhappy about his budget in the papers so I’ve no idea how you’ve come up with this tripe.

I'm not saying Jackson out without someone coming in. He has spent alot of time out injured. I wouldn't say there is no chance. He's not a player I'd be desperate to offload but Ross will know what he needs

I’d give Doig the season to prove himself as ready to be the first choice with Stevenson as back up. Put every available penny into a first choice midfielder that will get our balance right. Hopefully that player is Docherty.

I don’t see many options for LG.
Stay at Celtic - get paid decent £ but not play / rarely play.
Move to another team not Hibs. He likes home comforts and having just sorted a house won’t be moving anytime soon.
Hibs - fans love him - Hibs fan - even a 80% LG is worth it - think of his free kick quality etc.
When’s his contract up ?
He loves scoring against Hearts too...so no brainer for me.
I really hope for the guys sake he doesn’t become a DR, GOC and slowly drift out the game. Needs support and a manager to love him.

If he’s available on loan it’s a no brainer. I can’t see Celtic getting rid of a proven goal scorer when they are going for 10 in a row.

I fear for him tbh.
He’ll never have it as good as he has it now, and he’s already had several last chances. If he can’t screw the nut there, there’s no way he’ll do it elsewhere.
He’ll need to find someone who will indulge him - and that’s a very risky business indeed.
I think he’s trouble and should be avoided at all costs - which is a shame, because I love him as a player.

I don't know why that jambo welt Brian McGlaugin is allowed anywhere near our pressers. I'm sure Jack will know his jambo credentials during his time at tiny castle. Ater all it was Brian "that revealed that up to 70 jobs were under threat" during a recent sportsound jambo deflection / love in, and it was swallowed as gospel and reported in the scottish media. He was asking negative questions hoping to get negative answers and I think Jack was being cautious with his answers. I remember Leeann having a dig at his questions towards her, I can't remember the occasion, but I think she put him back in his box. I'm sure Jack was guarded in his answers more than anything. He seemed to answer other q's from other people with a smile on his face. Any negativity picked up by the jambo welt would be on Saturdays sportsound.

What I do know is that I know nothing about how the manager is feeling and wouldn't presume to guess and then post it on a forum as gospel. As others have said no manager is ever happy and he may well be frustrated that a couple of players he wants he can't get as yet but I'd be surprised if he was unhappy because he knows the situation is difficult due to Covid. Also if I want to say p ish I will and it's not down to you what language I use, it's you that needs to calm down a bit, I'm sitting here all chilled listening to the radio, have a good day. :bye:

We could probably play a strong enough team from players that didn’t start yesterday.
Dabrowski
Gray
McGregor
Jackson
Stevenson
Hallberg
Allan
Mallan
Wright
Gullan
Murray
I’d say that we are probably a striker light from that and I’m not a big fan of Murray so another capable of playing wide would be perfect.
You’ve still got Stirling too who looks capable enough but another more muscular player for the midfield would be great.
No great panic for any of this though.

Not a fan of O'Donnell, think he's been victim of a Levein-esque hype by Steve Clarke. Would have Naismith back, maybe meaning we could push McGinn into defensive midfield as he reads the game well and times his tackles.........would still love Docherty in the side though. He would be my priority.

I agree that we really need another couple of quality additions. I’d like to see another combative, energetic midfielder that is comfortable on the ball and also another left sided striker/winger.
For how good Horgan was yesterday he’s proven to be very inconsistent, a really quick and direct winger like Jordon Jones would be a very good addition imo.
Felt the bench yesterday missed an attacking threat, with the exception of Allan, that could really come on and change the game in our favour.
I do really like the look of Gullan but he’s still largely untested at this level.

You won’t find a consistent winger in our league, all wingers are largely inconsistent due to their position. I’d like a couple of other players but I’d disagree saying we ‘need’ them. Our squad is bigger, deeper in quality and arguably better all round than the majority of other teams.

All too often we wait until it's too late with 1 year left on a deal and no bargaining power so they go for cheap. The guy is the real deal and we know it already so get him on a bumper deal as we would struggle big time without him.

Yes but I don't believe we don't have cash. The actions taken by the club such as the suspension of the academy was to protect the first team. The club is not going to be going public about its financial status, all I'm saying is I think the money was already there for Nisbet and I doubt the Kamberi cash as any bearing on that deal. Hopefully though they could offer some of that Kamberi cash as a signing on fee for Boyler. So we can keep him.

Who said nothing has changed since January. I just don't think we need to use the Kamberi money to finance the Nisbet deal. I still think we have a bit to wheel and deal with. That's why we're still getting linked with other players, that's all

Once Kamberi went to the huns he was always getting sold. That money has been earmarked for buying Nisbit. I don’t think we had the money for KM irrespective of selling Flo’.

Despite everything that has been going on I think we're are in a stronger financial position than that at the moment. If this is the case then are you saying we will not be in a position to bring anyone else in without selling Boyle. I still think we can get a couple more in without having to selling Boyle imo.

BBC reporting that Livvie have turned down another 7-figure offer for Dykes from a Championship side.
So on Saturday's showing how much is Nisbet worth to a Championship side? Or Doidge for that matter.
Livingston would bite the hand of a team offering a 1 million pound fee for Dykes.
I suspect the offer is no more than £300k up front with lots of clauses with some extremely unlikely making it a theoretical million quid offer e.g. £500k if Barnsley get promoted to the Premiership etc

Back in June the club itself reported there would be a substantial loss for last season. They also predicted income would be down by 50% for this season. The way things are going it could be more. There have been redundancies and cut backs galore. Players are on reduced wages. Closed door matches are costing the club money. I would say the club like any other business is going through difficult times.

We signed Whittaker at 33.
If we are to play Doig, Gullan, and Porteous regularly this season then maybe JR wants some experience in there. I'm not a huge fan of Adam but that was based at international level. He's played at the highest level, clearly looks after himself, and speaks well............albeit it will be very ironic if there's truth in this given what he said about Hibs signing players recently after making cuts :cb

Whittaker and perhaps Milligan were exceptions rather than the rule, I feel. Whittaker made sense as he was coming in on a significantly reduced wage, largely due to his previous connection with the club. The signings we've made recently, particularly since Jack Ross has taken over, suggest that somebody like Adam (older, not exactly known for his fitness/energy and probably demanding high wages) wouldn't fit the model as far as I can see it.
I think it says something that Holt, Milligan and Whittaker were all signed by Lennon, too.
Perhaps you're right and he's wanting to replace some of the experience we lost when Whittaker left, I'd just be surprised is all. SDG, McGregor and Stevenson provide a lot of that already.
I'd be wanting us to look elsewhere too FWIW. No doubting Charlie has a wonderful left foot and some real pedigree behind him, I just don't think his particular skill set is what we're lacking right now.

I don’t think there’s any way you can be damned with more faint praise in today’s game, which is based on pace, as to be described as an ‘experienced winger’. Save that tag for the central defenders, even strikers and midfielders, but wingers....
This is a (Scottish) championship level signing I would think.

Thank goodness for that. I wouldn't touch Adam with a barge pole.
Saw him at Reading last season and they were gash, he was plodding about the midfield and did nothing of note.
Tbh he's not a Jack Ross type of signing anyway, I think he's trying to inject more youth and energy into our side as it is.

I think you are correct. When you look at this link below and the average ages of the Collins /Mowbray era and then the Lennon/Heckington /Ross era I think we are trying to get the age of the squad down, maybe not as young as that Collins team mind 😁

I actually rate Charlie Adam but he was very much a ‘luxury’ player even when younger and had legs. He’d be a similar signing to Kris Commons a couple of years back, but I don’t put much credence in this rumour at all.

Don’t think we do just now given we have McGinn, Gray and James for that position but if James goes and Gray continues to struggle to stay uninjured we might need cover.
However, I think McRorie might be the type of versatile player who could cover that position if we were in a pinch

Jackson is an ok average cover player, he was a regular bencher at Barnsley and will be on pretty decent wages as he came from the Championship. We have Stirling who is quite capable of covering, Daz is still here and McGinn can slot in there if needed.

I don't think Jackson is especially bad on the ball, an excellent pass against Celtic in the 1-1 draw last season springs to mind. McGinn just makes a lot more sense because he can switch to a back 4 and there isn't a worry if he gets drawn wide and has to defend 1 vs 1.

I'm a wee bit disappointed that the rumour seems to be pish. Adam didn't play a lot for Reading last season and I don't think he ever played the full 90 minutes but he was usually very good value when he did play - excellent vision and passing from deep. Reading were indeed terrible last season but Adam was one of the few decent players when he was on the pitch. Also seemed to be a useful coach for the youngsters - I think he would have been a useful squad member even if he didn't play all that often.

Charlie adam is the last type of player we need, file this one under not happening. The fact that Tam McManus is the source is probably enough to rule it out alone, nice bloke but a total slaver.
Tam throwing in a name to put others of the scent of who we are actually after, or to panic the famous bigliest team in the Chumpionship into a knee jerk signing they can neither afford or hope to get value from?

Going down to League 1 may also be a stepping stone to the Championship too or even the EPL as quite a few have managed.
I think it’s unfair on Docherty to imply he’s happy just to disappear into a wilderness. I think he’s an intelligent guy who knows he needs to play to get his career back in gear but is also driven and ambitious to be as good as he can. Certainly looks like he’s not prepared to just hang around at Ibrox because he’s a Rangers fan.

Stephen Mcginn is a midfielder, Jackson is a defender.
In a normal world I’d be questioning the signing of someone like Stephen Mcginn, the way things are, bringing in a steady SPFL player that knows the league and can be relied on as a squad player and likely to be pretty cheap makes complete sense to me.
Clearly wouldn’t be classed as a particularly exciting signing though.
