Admittedly I've not seen too much of him, interested to know if he has played down the left in the past much?

Has anyone else woken with a (hibee) bounce in their step?

I’m delighted hibs go about business quietly and professionally

The club is now rewarding the fans for the passion and loyalty we’ve shown

10500 season tickets
Sold out home shirt
Record number of contributors to HSL

Wright

Amazing that we’re backing Jack Ross and showing these signals of intent

Lets get Docherty in now (ok I’m greedy)

Edinburgh Live report below - maybe nothing that's already been mentioned already. Looks like we're trying to get them to play in the game against the Saints.

Nisbet visited the Hibees' East Mains training centre for a medical on Thursday evening and a deal could be completed in time for the former Raith Rovers forward to feature in a bounce game against St Mirren this weekend.

Premiership rivals Dundee United also had a bid for Nisbet rejected earlier this summer, while English duo Portsmouth and Shrewsbury Town were previously credited with an interest in his services.

Nisbet will likely replace wantaway forward Florian Kamberi with the Swiss-born striker in talks over leaving the club on a permanent deal.

Former Hamilton Academical enforcer Gogic will join on a free alongside ex-St Johnstone man Wright, who has been training with the side over the past fortnight.

He too could feature in the hastily arranged fixture against the Buddies - which was given the go ahead by the Scottish government on Thursday.

Cypriot stopper Gogic impressed for the Accies last season, topping the charts for interceptions during the 2019/20 campaign.

Ross is interested in bringing the player to Easter Road in a bid to toughen up the Hibs midfield.

Gogic left New Douglas Park on the expiry of his contract at the end of May and has been on the radar of several top flight sides.

But Hibs have won the race for his signature, with the move set to be announced imminently alongside that of speedy winger Wright.

Since the Championship clubs haven't been back training, would it be risky to pitch him in right away?

He hasn't played for 3 1/2 months, so I imagine there will have to be a programme to get his fitness up to speed.

If he’s looked after himself he shouldn’t be too far behind. Contact training was only allowed last week so he shouldn’t really have missed out on much that the rest have been doing. There was an interview with the sports science guy a couple of weeks back talking about two weeks of contact training being needed before playing though.

Surely he’s at no more risk than the others as no football has been played since early March? I’m sure the coaching and medical staff will monitor fitness and risk of injury for all players we have whether they’re new to the club or not.

From the fishy

Drey Wright has agreed to become our first new signing of the 2020/21 season.

The 25-year-old winger, who caught the eye with his direct and skilful performances for St Johnstone, has agreed a two-year contract that will kick in from July 26 – which honours the agreement made with our players on existing deferrals.

Drey was so determined to push through a move to Easter Road that he rejected a number of other offers and expressed a real desire to join Jack Ross and his new team-mates for training at the Hibernian Training Centre ahead of time.

A delighted Drey said: "No-one had to explain the size of Hibernian as a club to me and as soon as I got off the phone from speaking to the gaffer and Graeme Mathie I knew it was the move I wanted to make.

“I spoke to a few boys who have played here and it was an easy decision in the end.

“First and foremost, I’ll give it everything I’ve got in every game. I know I’ll be expected to bring goals and assists, to help bring drive and energy to contribute in the attacking areas, but I also want to build a good relationship with the full-backs and make sure I can offer them some protection.

“They’ve made me feel really welcome and I can’t wait for the games to get up and running.”

Of his first summer recruit, Jack said: “We’ve identified key areas in the squad where we think it’s important to strengthen and the wider area is one of them. We have Daryl Horgan and Martin Boyle but there’s not much width beyond that, even with the younger players that are coming through.

“We wanted another option in that area, which allows us to be flexible in how we use Daryl and Martin. Drey’s quick, he’s direct and enjoyed a really good season with St Johnstone.

“He was one we’d identified a long time ago, so we’re pleased – despite everything that’s been going on in the world – that we’ve been able to get him in. He’s been good in training, settled in well with the group and I’m looking forward to seeing him in action properly.”

I work with a Raith Rovers fan who's pretty well in with the club, he told me they couldn't wait to get rid of Nisbet because of his appalling Billy big baws attitude, he's said to me this morning that the lad has talent, but he'll be another Riordan/O'Connor esque type of player with a severe lack of class about him, so should fit in well.

Also, I wonder what the 70 odd people or so who were made redundant by Hibs are thinking about them spending money on players now? Where's the outrage in the press about it? If that was Hearts, it would be a major story! They get it so easy from the press that it's embarrassing, although I believe that they're close to selling Boyle as well, but that cash should really be paying the deferred wages etc.

If he's half as good as Deek I'd be more than happy

Comparisons with a strike partnership who scored close to a combined 200 goals for Hibs. Oh no, he sounds terrible.

They’ve conveniently forgot to mention that we are a “football team”. There will be redundancies in all businesses due to this pandemic, but for any business to survive & prosper, they have to try & progress. What were we supposed to do? Keep coaches who had no work to do, or try & improve our product on the park which then improves revenue, which can then re-employ some staff who have unfortunately had to leave. We should be praised for the way we conduct our business.

10-07-2020, 10:12 AM
I'd like to think we'll hear something from the club this week about an actual signing. I know there is the situation regarding wages deferrals and potential wages reductions now, academy changes and coaches positions under threat, however season ticket sales of 10k + as well as increased HSL funding ought to be recognised and something done to encourage others to buy into further season ticket sales or HSL contributions. Momentum is a great thing in sport and a signing announced now would go some way to rewarding the fans for stepping up and shelling out. Announce Nisbet, a young centre forward who is rated on both sides of the border with great potential to grow in an attacking Hibs side.

Well done Hibs, great piece of business.

Motherwell resign Chris Long, good player

Shame, one I really fancied for us. I'll take Nisbet though!!

R.e. the article on cuts etc, I would expect those to appear. Everyone accepts that players who have left need replaced and free transfers like gogic and wright shouldn't really be questioned, however, spending money on a substantial transfer fee following redundancies and salary cuts isn't a good look. I expect we are anticipating a fee for Kamberi and/or Boyle moving on which will cover it but Hibs won't be able to clarify that publically until it is done.

This day just keeps getting better and better.

I knew they would come in and throw more money at him. Very pleased we've got him and also that he's shown he's got a good head on his shoulders by not following the money.

Glanced at Kickback and they seem to know the details of the deals. Someone posting about a "Celtic clause" - how on earth can anyone know that? Also they seem to have completely side stepped they signed Craig Gordon and are calling out our clubs morals. Yet Hibs have detailed the contract start dates coincide with the wage reductions so they are clearly doing this spot on yet again and keeping all the players in their thoughts.

Them trying to sign Drey and Kevin is hurting then massively make no mistake. Can you imagine the clamber if they did pull it off we would never hear the end of it. Object that seethe into my eye balls 😂

Nisbet to score the winner in the semi final with a Wright assist.

Was this just a gut feeling or did you know something? Sun reporting this morning that he snubbed an "11th hour bid from Hearts."

Gut feeling with the way they have done things in recent years, everytime we have been interested in someone they suddenly appear interested, plus there was the rumours before about Neilson
wanting him at Utd.

Glad to see they haven`t changed!

Scott Burns is on a mission to be absolutely outraged for our staff/current squad that we’ve made signings.

Really don’t understand the relevance between the football side and members of staff from other areas being made redundant.

That’s not to say I don’t feel sorry for those folk. But if there isn’t any work for them, then that’s the way it goes unfortunately. Are we meant to sacrifice the only operational part of the club to keep people in jobs elsewhere, despite them having nothing to do? By Jambo logic the answer to that will probably be aye. But a normal person who isn’t trying to create a story will see it for what it is.

Pretty sure Scott Burns is the journalist that It was always said had a good relationship with Dempster going back to her Motherwell days.

I don’t agree with him on this matter and he’s not taking a balanced view on the subject, I do suspect there is some merit in what he is saying in terms of the players not being particularly happy just now though.

Agreed. Without knowing an exact date for a return to normality then these issues will be ongoing - hopefully in the background.

In the longer term success of the footballing side of the operation will drive the recovery of the other areas. As a business we cannot afford not to recruit for the first team.

Best of luck to anyone having a hard time of things just now though. Here's hoping for better days to come.

It is unfortunate but if we're identifying decent players, in Scotland, and within our price range, then were often going to butt heads with the likes of Aberdeen, Hearts, and probably Motherwell. I'd be more surprised if they weren't interested.

The field is relatively clear on the transfer front for Hibs this summer:
Of our usual competitors for players Aberdeen are fully committed financially and Hearts are going to play in a poor Championship so no chance players are going to pick them over Hibs.
We really are getting the players we want with little opposition.

dazajmbo said:
“We went for him earlier in the week, hibs were told to match our bid which eventually they did. We said no to the Celtic clause he wanted, hibs said yes to that clause, offered more wages while we said he would be 2nd or 3rd choice. We walked away and hibs rolled over to him. Not a last minute bid from us”
