But as you brought this onto the main forum a good dozen people have heard him say that LJ wants to spend the majority of his budget on an out and out no.9. Shankland scored 11 or 12 penalties. Those are silly numbers, not repeatable. If we sign this guy and he gets 14 goals in the league, I'd be delighted.

Players for £600k better than league 1 are not easy to find. A regular goal scorer in the championship will go for about £10m! I think big Myko is one that could do it. I am sure we are looking all over the place not just league 1 and 2.van veen was from league 2.

Spend a lot of the budget doesn’t mean it will be a big fee. Wages. Our wages are going through the roof these days.

We signed Nisbet from Dunfermline, who were in a much worse division than EFL1. It generally doesn't have a bearing on who will do well or not for us.

I can’t however I’m not a football scout. I would never have known about Florian Kamberi as a name to sign or pretty much any non British CF that has done a great job in the SPFL over the years.

I would rather see us make this signing from overseas than League 1 or 2

Good player unfairly made a scapegoat after being made captian, but by the way everyone spoke about him behind the scenes he was very well respected and that goal vs Rangers(on his birthday as well, I think?) clearly meant the world to him.

I know some don't like when people say this, but he was one of the few during that relegation season that truly cared about the club and fans. Glad he stuck around for another year and got some sort of redemption even if he wasn't as regular a starter as he was in his first season.

Admittedly he didn’t make an impact for St Johnstone in his 7 appearances 2 years ago..but he has grown up a bit since then and scored 17 in 30 appearances for Linfield last term. I wonder if they would go for a swap for Doidge ?

Not how I recall Liam Craig at Hibs. Poor player in a gutless disaster of a relegation side. He was effective at shouting, waving his arms, getting booked unnecessarily (he showed he cared) and generally not fulfilling the role of leader on the park.

Surely if he's not getting a snif at them he's nowhere near good enough. NI league is generally pretty poor quality so wouldn't look to much into him doing well over there. Just had a look and they have released him, not the sort of project we need currently.

He's absolutely rotten, big and strong is the complete opposite of how I'd describe him, my mate is a saints fan so went along to watch them and I said to him be lucky if he scores a goal for saints, he's that bad. He had not bad feet, but that was about it.

With regards to bringing in a striker, LJ mentioned a week or so ago that strikers are at a premium at the moment and he would expect them to want good money.

I wonder if this was a message for the board more than the support.

Maybe a quality striker has been identified but the board have baulked at the wage demands. LJ basically saying that we need to pay this to get the right player.

Would work if we play an Emery like back 4, ie, LB is more offensive and RB sits and almost forms a back 3, but would make us more predictable going forward.

Think if Rocky was a bit better on the ball he'd be a good choice to fill in, but fear he would offer next to no attacking threat from RB.
