I see Big Ben is shecduled to play with broken ribs? I fractured (broke) a rib last year and it was the worst pain I’ve encountered before. Took me an hour to manoeuvre out of bed [emoji2955] couldn’t bend forwards backwards turn to the side, I sneezed and fk I thought I was going to die I laughed and same thing, so to hear he is expected to play is dubious to me even with heavy painkillers

Interesting.ive just had keyhole surgery on my knee (standard post cruciate op that lots of athletes go through) and I'm shocked at how painful it's been! Players put up with more pain than we think.

Obviously I'm delighted that Pederson called the timeout, his first kick was good. In that situation there would have been no time to drive down the field anyway, so he may as well have used up the last timeout. There's some statistical analysis of the success rate of icing the kicker here: https://mixpanel.com/blog/2016/11/22/nfl-data-icing-the-kicker/ and given the kick was 45 yards or thereabouts, it gave us a 12% higher chance he would miss the kick I think.

Gutted to see the Bears go out, but it was such close and balanced game, and really engrossing. Think it was written in the stars for that kick to hit the upright, although it seems an eagle defender got a hand on it so well done to him, terrific play.

i dont think either team made any real big mistakes (apart from arguably the final kick :greengrin), just different players from both sides coming up with good execution, on both sides of the ball.

Hopefully we’ll go again next year, good luck to the eagles for the rest of the playoffs 😊

But you've no fear. Our defense aren't good enough to get anywhere near the big dance this year. Great to see Bama getting humped, it wasn't even like they were struggling offensively, the first half interceptions killed them and the Clemson D absolutely dominated them in the red zone. It was great to see the fake field goal that Saban called fail, that was the moment I knew it was done, they were panicking. It must have hurt Alabama when Clemson removed most of their starters mid way through the 4th quarter and still managed to run the clock out for the last 5 mins.

Absolutely agree, this wasn't just a beating it was a humiliation for Bama. Before the game it felt like everyone was sure Bama would win.

They were convinced that Clemson having 3 starters out including Dexter Lawrence would be the end of them. But that D line were immense. And the fake field goal was hilarious.

Next year has the potential to be a great season. LSU and Georgia will be taking bama all the way. Texas, Penn State and Notre Dame are always good to watch. And out west I like Oregon to come good.

I watch us enough to see our deficiencies?

Our secondary has been garbage all season but it appears to have turned a corner in recent weeks.

We’re masters at conceding big yardage plays when we find ourselves in 2nd or 3rd and long situations. Primarily because our safety’s are both pretty hopeless.

Gronk is surely finished no matter what happens, but Brady talks like he wants to keep going forever! I'm not sure I'll last all day at work today...

Even though I don't like the Patriots it was an incredible game, unbelievable comeback by the chiefs to tie it up after getting the ball back with 39 seconds to play, all decided on the coin toss, if the chiefs had one that then I think they'd have scored and won.

On another note, Tony Romo is a great commentator, he was calling the Patriots plays all game, particularly in overtime, he knew exactly what Brady was changing the plays to and called it almost every time.

I really like Romo as a commentator. I genuinely think he'll go on to be one of the best commentators in the game. His insights, his wit and his love for the game are exceptional, and he doesn't have any biases.

I think Brady and Belichick want that one more. Gronk will put it all on the line in two weeks time and I think he'll retire as one of the greatest TEs to play the game afterward.

I do think change is on the horizon in New England regardless of what happens in 2 weeks time, but I reckon GOAT and GOAT will want to go out on the ultimate high.

Always like listening to Romo, calls the plays before they happen, but also explains why they’ve happened. He’s down to earth, enthusiastic, articulate, and keen to share insights with the viewers that aren’t always apparent.

when you consider what the equivalent is for Scottish football, Andy Walker, Steven Thomson, Neil ‘cliche’ McCann, it makes you weep

Genuinely too close to call I think - if Gurley is fully fit, they're a pretty fearsome team.

Having said that, our defense beautifully shut down Mahomes et al, and we did a great job keeping Gordon quiet in the Chargers game.

I reckon Brady et al are seriously fire up for this and I think this will be a final hurrah for a few players.

Patriots by 3-7.

The problem you've got there is linemen don't win superbowl MVP. Not for thirty years! He is an amazing player, reminds me a lot of JJ Watt about three seasons ago who dominates the middle. With Suh next to him the o line can't double up on him so he's doubly dangerous.

It's expensive, really expensive. Not just the tickets, hotels are 3 night minimum and $7500 a night apparently.

Was hoping to go with the local billionaire but he didn't offer which is a shame. $1m he's paying to be on the 50 yard line in the box.

I disagree that it wasn’t a classic: defensive masterclasses by both sides and although we didn’t score much, i thought our offense kept trudging along. Edelman is without a doubt my favourite player. He’s an absolute beast.

To answer the earlier question about getting to go to this game, I cannot even guess how expensive it would be now. I went to 2001 with a family member who’s a ST holder at Gilette and a successful businessman in Rhode Island with the connections to get us to the game. I was bloody lucky.

I can only assume he's become a totally disruptive presence in the locker room and they want shot of him.

I like lots of their players, Carrs very underrated, they have a good OLine, AB now, Beast mode if he stays fit. The problem is they're coached by an overpaid TV pundit. And their best defender is at the Bears. (Now there's a team that I think will challenge this season)

The Lions, Raiders, Bears and 49ers have all made some pretty good moves thus far.

I'm not so sure Bell is a decent acquisition for the Jets to be honest, but time will tell. It's a lot of money for an aging RB in a pretty stacked market.

It kinda feels like we're being slowly gutted - Flowers gone, Rowe gone, Brown gone, Patterson gone and a lot of big players still sitting in Free Agency (Hogan, Gotskowski, McCourty, Shelton, Hill, Dorrsett, Brown, Allan...).

Not to worry though - we've put a hold on suspended Josh Gordon

I give us a D- so far.

Dee Ford also moves to the 49ers from the Chiefs, Cordarelle Patterson heads to Chicago from New England...

The Lions, Raiders, Bears and 49ers have all made some pretty good moves thus far.

The fashion has been to go for young hungry cheap RBs in recent years, so yeah, big bucks for Bell certainly bucks the trend.

That's a bit of a hammer blow. It's not just his pass-catching abilities, he's one of the most proficient blockers we've had on our offense.

Surprised he waited until FA was over to announce this - I just hope the Patriots organisation were made aware of it well beforehand, so they had opportunity to try and find a replacement.

One of the best TEs I've had the pleasure of watching play the game - but a total meathead.

I had missed that the Eagles have traded a 2020 6th round pick for Jordan Howard from the Bears. Excellent trade in my book, this is a guy who has more rushing yards in his 3 seasons in the league than every other running back apart from Gurley and Elliot (Most likely Bell as well if he hadn't sat out last season). Ok his production has declined from his rookie season, but when Trubisky came in teams were able to focus on stopping the run as they didn't think Trubisky's passing was up to scratch. He's still on his rookie deal as well so should be pretty cheap.

A good run game was one of our major issues last season with Ajayi injured, this should help Wentz and free up more space for Jeffrey, Jackson and Ertz.

Really liking how the offence is shaping up, my only concern is Wentz's health. He has had two injuries in the last two years all be it one very bad and one not as bad...

Still reckon we will be in with a shout this year.

It's a no brainer really. He's not costing a huge amount and is potentially high reward for us. We currently have 12 picks for next year and huge cap space so if it doesn't work out there's potential to trade up for a QB next year in what looks a great class.

Michael Deiter from Wisconsin as our 3rd round pick looks a shrewd bit of business as well.

I watched him twice last season and I like him a lot. Real natural action and doesn't seem to have any weaknesses. He gets a bad press but hes still very young and he was surrounded by rubbish in Arizona, i think he'll be a success.

Pleased with our draft so far - Jarrett Stidham from Auburn is a fabulous pick for the future :agree:

I was kinda hoping Arcega-Whiteside may have ended up in New England, but alas. He's a great addition to the Eagles.

Eh, I'd say it's still 4 weeks away, what we have right now is "Pretend" Football

I will say that of all the preseason games, the 4th game is generally the most interesting one for me, none of the established "starters" play, it's solely for the "roster bubble" guys to make a case to stay on the team as backups or special teams guys

I'm not sure I see the hatred toward the idea.

We all rue the fact that the season is quite so short, but appreciate the physical limitations the players experience over the course of a season. We all also realise that squads might be large, but the elite players see most game time - this would allow fringe/new players an opportunity to get some gametime and make a name for themselves. A chance to shine immediately as a rookie, rather than waiting for a breakthrough or someone to retire.

So long as the clubs had the option to chose which players were rested when, and not simply a "all of the elite players must be rested in the last 3 games of the season". It forces clubs to be tactical with their players.

Sure, it's a cash move, but it increases the number of games for the fans to enjoy without risking the players any further. I like the idea.

You support a team. They are neck in neck in a wildcard race with two weeks left in an 18 week season. But your star QB has played his regulated 16 games so the rules say you have to bench him in favour of your untested rookie? And the same situation is happening at maybe the Wide Receiver or defensive end position, and your opponents star players maybe by chance (by suspension, injury etc) have already missed their two games and are therefore ready to batter your team in the crucial week 18, playoff deciding clash?

Ridiculous. Leave the season alone.
