Tebow scored a decent run in but I was a little disappointed he didnt play more of the game.

Ah well, we still have the draft pick, money to spare in the budget cap and we are heading to the play offs... Its a shame as Moss was a great player for us for a while but we survive.

We're every bit AS good, if not better without him this season, as we have so many options right now, and encouragingly, so many of them in their rookie season!

With the draft picks we have accumulated through some brilliant bits of business from Belichick et al, we're going to have power to be competitive for many years to come!

Great to be a Pats fan right now - this past 8 years has felt like karma redressing itself from the years of being the worst team in the NFL!

Bad BAD result for us away to a simply much better Cleveland side. Our offense was utterly shocking tonight and I'm not surprised with the outcome! Cleveland played superbly tonight, using imagination all over their offense! Brady had some good numbers tonight, but wasn't helped out at all by a very ineffective offensive line!

Ach well, it was nice to be on top for a week :greengrin - good win for the Jets against an ever improving Lions side - not exactly a blistering performance (LT only getting 55 yards - an off-week for sure :agree:), but grinding these results out is the difference between playoffs and an early off-season.

Michigan game was a nightmare yesterday! No doubt brilliant for the neutral, but my finger nails are non-existent! I've bit my left thumbnail so low, it hurts like a bitch right now :greengrin

Missed the Jets game as didn't get back till late. Seems we were lucky again winning in overtime. Anyone see any of the game? If so how did we play? Great news that the Pats got rolled over. How did they play as got to admit I had them down for the win. Did you have a look at the Nike Jersey yet?

When did the Bills start playing games in Toronto and how many times a season do they do that? I can't believe I didn't know they done that.

Just saw the highlights of the Jets game - looked like they were frustrated by a pretty competent looking Detroit defense actually. Lots of mistakes throughout the game, but they rallied well after going 20-10 down, so a good night.

We didn't play disasterously - made a few mistakes on our offensive line, giving up fumbles and failing to advance much, but Brady had some great numbers (leading pass stats) - just failed to do it too regularly - it wasn't as much that we were bad - Cleveland were pretty damned impressive :agree:

I did have a look at the Nike Jersey - I assume you're referring to the red one, with the stars and stripes on it? It would be a third kit at best, with the blue and white being the home and away respectively. The blue and white ones are fine to me, but the red third kit is a little over-the-top in my eyes.

We got them next week so should be intresting. Season looks like it's heating up nice and should be a good case of cat and mouse between use and us between now and the end of the season.

Not sure we talking about the same jersey's cause the Pats ones I saw really were awful. To be fair I haven't seen the Jets ones but the other teams I've seen look as if Nike are trying to modernise/jazz them up.

I'm sure he was drafted, around 7th pick though a more educated person might correct that

AJ is playing well although a bit quieter than last season.

You also got the Rams who used to be the LA Rams and of course the Raiders went from Oakland to LA and then back again. Think if my memory is right the Redskins originally came from Boston although that was a long long time ago. In fact the list could go on. Seems a lot of teams have moved throughout the years. "Brady to Gronkowski - TOUCHDOWN!" - seemed to be a recurring theme last night! WOW, I did NOT expect us to win that last night - delighted to see the score this morning when I signed online - the highlights were nice, but I'll catch the re-run later on the Pats website.

That was a massive statement, following our pitiful performance against Cleveland last week, and also a good response to the Jets picking up an OT win in Ohio. I'm very happy with the way we're continuing to pick up wins against very good teams right now.

My only worry is that our luck has to run out at some point especially if we going to have to rely on Folk. Don't know what's happened to him but he has been poor this year. Anyone see Sanchez TD, never new he had it in him. The guy is just getting beter and better. Sweet also that Santonio is getting in on the action now as to be fair he aint done much. Add it together with our potential running game and our def and things are looking good.

I imagine, for the neutrals (or anti-Pats) amongst you, that this has been a cracking game! Patriots lead 31-14, before an awesome performance from Manning brought them back to 31-28. With the Colts in FG range, with 3 timeouts and 49 seconds remaining, we FINALLY got pressure to Manning in the pocket and he overcooked his pass into the waiting hands of Cunningham - 2 knees and game over.

HUGE win ahead of a difficult trip to Motor City on Thursday.

I at least expected OT as well, seeing as they were in FG range. We were leading 31-14 in the 4th quarter last year, and Bellichick made the decision to go for it at 4th and 1, leading to us losing the game - I thought a repeat was on the cards and was far from happy at the 2 minute warning - glad Manning made an arse of it - so uncharacteristic, as he's a sensational QB, but it bailed us out!

Not a huge fan of the Colts but really thought you might slip up against them.
What's the rest of your schedule like? It really looks like our game in New England is going to be huge.

The Green Bay game should be a good un :agree:

Lets hope so, lets hope so. A win for the Cheese :agree:.

I sincerely hope the Eagles fined him for that! Mercy me!

I can't find the video, but in the New England @ San Diego (I think?) game earlier in the year, San Diego caught the ball for what should have been a first down, but the referee didn't state the San Diego TE as "down", so he got up and left the ball, and New England recovered the ball.

Was brilliant!

Another top addition this year has been Dan Woodhead, who was turfed by the Jets at the start of the season.

He's been awesome on both offense AND defense.

That win could have a huge bearing on our post-season appearance, as the race for the WC slot is as tight as the AFC East race right now.

Both of our run-ins to the end of the season is challenging, to say the least...

Saints are absolutely hammering the Cowboys just now - just started the 2nd quarter and New Orleans are up 17-0, with Dallas having just turned the ball over on downs, having gone for it at 4th and 1, to no avail.

I wouldn't necessarily say so - we both have VERY difficult run-ins once this game is out of the way - I'd imagine you're PROBABLY right, but we've both slipped up at points this season when we should be winning.

I'll probably watch it on the Tuesday in all honesty - even if I have the luxury of working from home on the Tuesday morning, I just never see the point in staying up these days, apart from the Superbowl or the conference Championship games - it feels like a recovery from jetlag the day after.

I'm well aware it became fashionable to follow the Patriots when we went through our successful period - I was the same as you and Ayrshire - I remember 2 seasons before we won our first superbowl, when we had the worst record in the NFL and the successful period afterwards was a lovely change.

Please don't take the following question as gloating (as I really don't know) but when was the last time the Jets won either the Conference or the Superbowl?

James.

Wow - I genuinely didn't think it had been quite that long - I'm not relishing the thought of playing you lot either, especially with a loss already to our name vs you this season. Home field advantage might make a difference, but you have a good team this season, so it should be close regardless.

This is turning into the blowout I feared it would.

Ohio State are just too strong, yet again - unless we get rid of Rodriguez in the off-season and bring in a better coach, who's willing to improve our recruitment/training programmes, we're going to face a very long losing record.

The only bonus of today is that, no matter how many points OSU hammer us by, it still won't be enough. to get them into the BCS contention.

Sorry, I had to delete that ugly 4 letter sequence - it was hurting my eyes

We're dreadful - utterly no question - I turned off around 4 minutes into the 3rd - it was getting silly.

It's a difficult question, the Pryor one, as I don't honestly know - I thought Tebow would have taken the NFL by storm, as he was sensational during his time with Florida. I also thought Stafford would have been a quick sensation, but it hasn't turned out that way.

He'll definitely make it in the NFL, but I don't think he's good enough to be one of the greats - he has the benefit of a brilliant surrounding offense at OSU and is helped by playing a lot of inferior teams during the collegiate season. James Laurinitis is a prime example - he was a sensation at Ohio State, but has been fairly ordinary since making the step up.

Enjoy the second half - I'm going into hibernation until the news filters through the Rich Rodriguez has been punted :greengrin

These games tend to go in long sequences of success, and it's been miserable for us of late - if we can bin Rodriguez (as is highly expected) and bring in a new coach, with a more comfortable defense, home field advantage (which I'll be at next year) and you losing a few seniors, we MIGHT have a chance.

Your Packers are going to do well to sneak something out of this - been awful on the rush all day - take Aaron Rodgers out of that team, and you don't have much.

Defense has played fairly solid right enough, but offensively you've been poor.

4th and goal on the 5 yard line to push this into OT - all or nothing.

Should have been overtime, Baltimore on the attack but ended up at 4&2 just outside the kicker's range. They had to pass it and with a pretty clear pass Flacco put it short. Scunner as I was looking forward to OT!

Just done watching the highlights and both our offense and defense were absolutely outstanding last night - I've seen a lot of teams this year, but we probably have one of the most diverse offensive units in terms of play variability.

Defense looked good, though I have to ask AH (and DH when he comes out of hiding) - why DO the Jets fail so catastrophically when it doesn't come together? When you lose, it always seems to be because your offense is limited to fieldgoals - it's staggering - when you're bad, you're a disaster, which just shouldn't be, considering some of your personnel.

We should make the wildcard but if we don't win another game this season it wont surprise me. Do not underestimate just how much of a loss Leonhard is to our D. The Pats also showed that any team with a half decent TE will rip us apart (and they got two).

Only time I'm going to ever say anything nice about you lot on here but I rate you. Always new they would come good but thought you might struggle this year because of the amount of young guy's and rookies you've got. Look's like weare going to have to sit and watch you dominate again cause they are only going to get better and better over the next couple of years.

Like I've said before, our D will always stuggle against a team with a descent TE and the fact you got two in Gronkowski and Harnandez gives you great variability(can't believe they are both rookies). The Danny Woodhead thing was always going to happen(still don't understand why we cut him) and of course you got a certin QB.

Simple really, it's Jets football. Way it is and way it's always been. We will always find a way to fall on our face. You get use to it after a while (its just like watching Hibs, they often promise so much but will without doubt blow it one way or another). You got to remember though, this is all new to us. When was the last time we were looking to seriously make a challange for the Superbowl? Rem you talking about a team who have only ever won the divison 4 times in their history, that's division not conference or SB.
Or if you want, field goals? Have you seen Nick Folk this year? He has been utter crap. Did you see the first one he missed last night. Didn't even make the net:grr: and of course there's Schottenhimer. The least said about him the better.

Would a loss to the Pack be a stumble? Wouldn't surprise me if they beat you. Think they in with a shout of making the Superbowl myself.

Yeah I did, thanks for the PM! The adverts were bloody annoying though!

Leonhard is a massive loss but the way you crumbled shows the lack of leadership on D (if not the whole team). Yes a massive blow but you shouldnt have allowed us to get that many points and close you down so much.

Mind you, Brady, Welker and Brianch are the types of players to open up any team if they sense the slightest weakness. Maybe if you had an different opponent instead of a divisional rivalry you could have calmed the nerves. Brady et al never let you settle knowing that.

Undersoil heating doesn't do much good in some of the temperatures in the northern states during December and January. Its only really effective as a frost protection system. If you get heavy snow (as they do in the aforementioned parts) you're better off leaving the snow on and using it as insulation, then clear the stuff off a day or two before the game.

New England Patriots 36-7 Chicago Bears (Final)

Blistering first half offensive display, followed by a very disciplined defensive display in the second half, with Brady and the offensive unit making plays to eat the clock away.

Very comfortable win - now to head home and prepare for the visit of a Packers team who will be desperate for a recovery after losing out at Ford Field today.

Another difficult game, with or without Rodgers (hopefully without...)

Miami Dolphins 10-6 New York Jets

The Jets' offense has now gone 8 quarters of football without a TD. Their final "drive" summed up their day today really - misfiring offense, mistakes and poor calls.

Jets fall to 9-4, with the Dolphins improving to 6-5.

Thanks for the roundup

if im right in thinking GB are 2 wins away from winning NFC North because Chicago have a better divisional record, so realisticly the packers need to win all 3 games against New England (highly unlikely) NY Giants (possible) and Chicago (dont like to think about it :greengrin). Thats assuming Chicago lose all 3 games against the Vikings, Jets and Packers. so to conclude this its very unlikely GB will make the play-offs :boo hoo:

Dunno if the above is a typo, but if Chicago win their next 2 games, then yes, they win the NFC North. Green Bay would need to win all three, and hope Chicago lose a couple along the way, which, considering their run-in, isn't out of the question - they were absolutely ghastly against us yesterday!

IMO, you both have 3 difficult games coming up, but you have it a bit harder, as the Giants are playing well right now, as are we. Chicago are facing a Jets side with no confidence (and evidently no offense) and a Vikings team who have sucked all year.

I reckon you need 2 and hope other results go your way to make a Wildcard place if nothing else.

It's the sheer amount of players (including rookies) we have stepping up to the plate right now - granted, it helps when Brady is in the form of his life, but we have options in every unit right now, and everyone is on top of their game!

With all the brilliant draft picks we have in waiting for next year too, I'm REALLY excited about what we can do in the next decade, if not this year.

Don't be such a sodding pessimist.

Chicago are truly awful (worse than you guys) and you SHOULD be able to beat Buffalo.

Another 2 wins should get you to the playoffs, even if it's via the wildcard position - you're too good a side (sometimes) to not be in the post-season.

Having said that, I'm starting to believe (perhaps foolishly - this is the Patriots, and I've been here before with them) that the AFC East race is over :agree:

I sincerely doubt it - you listen to either Brady or Belichick's press conferences and they don't regard us as having achieved anything yet.

And to be honest, if we rest anyone, the guys coming in as backup just now are really stepping up to the mark. McCourtey has a rib injury and missed the second half of the Bears game, so he might not make it.

Rodgers likely to recover by then?

I don't like to jump on the band wagon, especially when I believe it's too soon and we're only one Cleveland away from reality slap but the Pats just get stronger and stronger every week. I love how the team has responded to that silly loss and the tough schedule.

I know that every single game is a separate entity and you can't (or shouldn't) base next week's prediction on last week's results but just looking at the numbers it's difficult to see anything other than a Pats win. But the favourites don't always win.

The Packers might have only managed a field goal against the Lions but they didn't give up much either. It will be an interesting game but I think the Pats win this one. My Prediction :

Packers 10 - 34 Pats

Like I said, It's all over:boo hoo:. On paper we should beat the Bills and if other results go our way we could sneek the last wild card spot but going into that game on a run of bad, bad losses aint going to be doing anyone any good.
Any team who gets held to 6 points at home against a second string Dolphins (in the cold) team don't deserve to make the play-offs, simples as that.

I'm not here to rub salt into your wounds but the Jets have been struggling for a while now. Overtime win against Detroit. Overtime win against Cleveland. Close game against Houston. Heavy loss to the Pats. Bad loss to Miami. I make no excuse for despising the Jets but that's not the reason that I believe their record flattered to deceive. On the surface their record was impressive but when you dig deeper you can see their position was unstable. Now the team has to deal with all this other BS i.e., the tripping scandal.

Good luck next year.

I kinda got the impression that some of them thought they just had to turn up.

After showing such commitment and focus vs the Jets and Bears, perhaps this was a bit of a come-down fixture for them yesterday (with no disrespect to the Packers).

I'd imagine, with the AFC East division winner title on the line next week, they'll be properly fired up for Buffalo. They'll need to be, as the Bills have been improving and are going for 3 straight wins against divisional rivals on the bounce.

As for the Jets, never saw that coming. How we can play so crap in the last two weeks and then go away to the Steelers and win (a place where we have never won):dunno:. Our O looked OK last night and the Sanchez TD was sweet, just what we needed. Keeping it simple and thank duck Polamalu wasn't playing as it would have been a diff story if he was. Again though, some of our play calling was a bit:confused:. Their whole last drive could have been avoided if we just ran the ball but we throw it on a third down stopping the clock before the two minute warning. As for our D:hilarious. I was giving them all sorts of abuse last night as they were utter dross for the first 3 quarters last night but then BANG, they pull it around in the fourth:flag:.

Tell me about it! Losing to that dross over the last two weeks :greengrin and then beating the Steelers! That's Jets football and to be fair to Ryan's teams they always seem bto get that win when it's badly needed. Scott was asking earlier what the Jets problem is when it comes to losing and to put it simply, it all boils down to Sanchez and the offense I think - the only blow up has been against the Patriots; our defense is always going to keep things close and give us a chance, however if Sanchez is off his game then it doesn't seem matter how well the D play.

One more win and our date in the snow could be on:greengrin.

As I said, I didn't think it worked, so I'm all for watching full games - I watched your game last night and enjoyed it - good open contest in the end, which I felt you deserved to win.

Eagles downing the Giants in the Meadowlands was pretty poetic - nothing better than watching Eli with a puzzled look on his face - the Giants' offense (from the sections we saw) looked very comfortable, and then relaxed, round about the same time the Giants D went to sleep - they had Vick in their pocket all first half too, but hey ho.

I still can't see ANYONE other than the Falcons representing the NFC teams in the Superbowl. They look untouchable just now :agree:

I just finished watching it, well worth it. A good game but it wasnt to be, I think Flynn did well, much better than last week but it must be a bit easier to start a game than come in mid way.

I was impressed with the performence from the team who had a look last week like they just had to turn up (like some saying above about the Pats this week)

One thing exited me is that with the injuries the Packers have had this season, if we can stay fit next season, I reckon we look like a conference or superbowl team.

Giants next week, a must win game to keep our very slim hopes alive.

Mon the vikings tonight :greengrin

its ok, Thanks to the Eagles our Play off chances are now in our own hands, It will be hard but a win against the Giants and Bears will give us a Wild Card spot - i think :aok:

You can work out all the permutations here:

As an aside, we've already been confirmed as AFC East champions, as our head to head vs the Jets is better (aware we finished 1-1, but our point difference is superior).

Watched the Poinsetta Bowl in San Diego. Great game by San Diego State, their QB (Lyndey?) looks a great future prospect as does the RB Hillman. Navy looked solid as you would expect but just couldnt get the running game they rely on to work as they have previously.

Still a brilliant game!

Also, 5 players from the Buckeyes have been suspended (including Pryor!) however their 5 game suspension doesnt start until NEXT season so they can still play in the Bowl games. Surely if they have been found guilty they should be suspended from now? Pryor may drop out of College and go into the Draft this year.

What a game tonight, very very exciting stuff! Probably the most enjoyable game I've watched since taking up the sport a few months ago. Cardinals snatching the game with the just about the last kick of the game, all due to a carelessly missed extra point from the Cowboys kicker Buehler.

Seems ESPN had it wrong last week.

However, AFC East and first seed looks safe, with a crushing victory about to be posted over the Bills.

Fantastic game between the Bears and Jets just now - currently 38-34 to the the Bears in poor conditions (not quite as bad as 2 weeks ago mind).

Also, Vikings @ Eagles falls victim to the weather - doesn't often happen in the NFL but the snow on the Eastern seaboard is shocking just now!

Magic!

AFC East Champions, yet again - cracking team effort from the entire team, assisted by an MVP season from Brady. Hopeful we can maintain momentum into the postseason.

Another loss for the Jets - they'll be praying for a Redskins/Raiders wins to secure their playoff place.

Was a good game but it wasn't a good enough 4th quarter for a Jets win.

Redskins won by the skin of their teeth, 7-7 in the Colts-Raiders game.

Is it possible that Seattle could win their division with a losing record (7-9)? would this be the first time that thats happened?

I believe it hasnt happened before. It is a shame because some better teams will miss out on the playoffs.

On a side note, NC State (My boys!) are up 10 - 7 against Western Virginia in the Bowl game... GO PACK GO!

So you know why is this the set up and why isn't it just a standard league table involving all the teams?
