The Jets played some nice offense tonight, but the Lions were absolutely howling offensively.
They weren't even "good" turnovers. They were "served up on a platter" turnovers.
Rams vs Raiders game is well balanced so far. But it's 8pm and I'm jetlagged, and I've had 4 pints of California craft beer...I won't see HT.

Josh Sitton out for the season with a torn rotator cuff. Every single year we get a season ending injury to a key player. He's out best OL by a distance and was going to be important in protecting a QB who lools rusty after a season and a half out.

Dolphins are blowing the Jets away. Ryan Tannehill is looking like Dan Marino out there.
Our run game looks strong. It's a bold statement but I think Drake is a serious upgrade on Ajayi and Gore gives an experienced head. Wilson, Stills, Grant and Amendola is a very decent receiving corps as well.
I'm still not convinced we are any more than a decent side but with the Bills looking so poor and the Jets looking a work in progress it's all to play for.

Yep, the line looks a lot better this year which is huge for letring guys make plays on defence. Fitzpatrick looks a steal at 11 in the draft too.

Enjoyed the 49ers vs Lions game yesterday - thought it was going to be a blowout at one point, but Detroit came back well and were unlucky with a couple of officiating calls.
Levi's Stadium is nice, but suffers from no cover, and poor supporting infrastructure. They're not at all well equipped to deal with the size of crowd trying to get in and out of the area.
Jacksonville definitely look like they could be contenders for the AFC this year - they played really well against us yesterday and more than deserved their win!

I've just watched the highlights of Seattle getting pummelled by the Bears. Calm down Bears, you DONT have the 46 defense back again, you just won't face an O line as bad as ours every week.
Wilson looks to have no talent to work with on offense except a punter and a blocking tight end. And what happened to going back to the running game? Schottenheimers play calling fed into Chicagos hands. Pitiful.

IIRC you got some draft picks as well in the deal?
But yeah, I remember Unger was already one of the best centres around when he was with us.
Actually the problem with our line is not deliberate neglect anymore, we have actually used some early draft picks to get some supposedly strong players out of college, they've just pretty much all been rubbish in the pros. I think a lot of O Line play isn't anything to do with raw talent anyway, it's working as a team of five, good coaching, practice and dedication. Really? I never felt a lot of love for Chicago. Escape the confines of the "touristy" middle part of the city and it can very rapidly become dodgy. There's a reason it's the murder capital of America.

I fancy Ohio State to mount a genuine challenge this year. They're obliterating everyone they're coming up against and look the real deal. They've utterly no challenge in the Big10, so it'll need to be external competition that genuinely challenges them.
While I'd love to say Stanford, we've not really played a big school yet - tonight will be a challenge, away from The Farm in Oregon.

2 shocking penalties in the Miami game. Centre makes a legitimate block and it’s called as holding then on the next play a pass to the TE sees a flag thrown against Kenny Stills for pass interference when he tried to avoid contact and the defender ran into him. A potential 1st and goal became 3rd and 19 and a sack saw us out of FG range.

Tbh I don't think we played particularly well today. Our run game was non existent against one of the weakest rush defences in the league and the secondary gave away a lot of yards when we had the Raiders under pressure.
But...considering how decimated the D line was, some atrocious officating and that we were deservedly behind at the half we deserve huge credit for digging in and getting the win. Wake and Howard pulled it out the bag with the pressure and turnover and we capitalised. I've been a critic of Tannehill but he is looking good this year with some protection.
Pats away next week which will be a real test of where we are as a team. I'm looking forward to it and I haven't said that about a trip to NE in a while.

I work "in the trade" (although different sports) but it always pisses me off that someone who's been away from front line coaching (or ANY form coaching) can waltz back into jobs so easily.
In my sport it ****s me off that people get head coaching jobs because they played professional when most of them couldn't break down a simple passing pattern!!!

Just gonna drop Tyler Eifert from my fantasy team now...
As a Bengals fan im gutted to see him go down again. When fully healthy he’s a top 5 TE in the league. Just hasn’t been since 15/16.
Despite that the Bengals are now 3-1 with a superb road win in Atlanta. With Mixon and Burfict back next week this is really looking like a play off team now. Especially with 3/4 of our first games being on the road.

This was a better weekend
Syracuse took Clemson all the way and could have won it in the end
The Georgia game was a bit easy for them against Tennessee
Penn St will be kicking themselves for not taking their chances.
Packers shut out the Bills and the Atlants game looked fun.
My fantasy team got hammered though.

Pleased with both our running game and defense last night, but our passing game looks woeful. Receivers unable to find space on their routes, with the most seasoned (Gronk) being in double coverage every down.
Thankfully Jules is back this week, so hopefully that adds a bit more potency.

Yeah, a win is a win I suppose. It doesn't feel like it though. That's the heartbeat of the defence gone. Time for this Thompson guy to step up, lots of talk that he's the best player on the defence in training.
In a way the injury justifies the front office position (they don't have to give him his guaranteed money now) but I just think it's a shoddy way to treat a team legend. We have previous for treating players like this.

I really like our 2 primary RBs - Michel looks like he'll be a superstar, and James White is SO effective as a catching back.
We looked good last night - at full strength, we look back to being a formidable team: Jules, Gronk, Hogan, Gordan and White all got good receptions last night, but some basic handling errors - Hogan, Edelman and Gronk all messed up easy plays.
What a terrible night to take Gronk over Ebron in my fantasy team though :greengrin

Even without the physicality of Gronk, we found lanes for Patterson (who replaced Michel well) and White. Josh Gordon has been a valuable addition to us this year, and it's great having Jules back - he's such a safe option!

I’m really impressed with how we’re playing just now - when we got the ball back with 4:30ish left I was confident we would be able to run it out - and it’s a couple of years since we’ve been able to say that.

I like how we have an identity now. We run the ball more than any team in the league. We have 3 RBs who can rotate and be equally effective. We have an aggressive, blitzing, risk taking defense. It's all very old school, and it's good to watch. We could finish outside the playoff positions and I'd still feel more optimistic than I thought I would at the start of the season.

Watching the highlights, it seems the defences on both teams made some pretty big plays, but in between making those big plays they couldn't stop anything!
The defences scored 4 TD's between them and Rams D had 3 interceptions and 2 forced fumble recoveries and still shipped 51 points! The Chiefs managed to sack Goff 5 times (he was averaging less than 2 sacks per game before that) and had 2 forced fumble recoveries and still shipped 54 points. Absolutely mental game!
Crazy to think amongst all the madness that Gurley only rushed for 55 yards and had 0 TD's and there was only 1 rushing TD in the game.

I'm curious as to why that's ridiculous? Your defense is the worst I've seen in years, and we've only lost once by 7 points to undefeated Notre Dame.
You've been ripped apart by Purdue, and ran close by unranked Maryland, Nebraska and Penn State, all three of whom we've destroyed.
Home-field advantage will be a big factor next week, but this is our best shot in a long while.
How are you planning on watching the game? Can't believe its not on TV here.

If it's on Fox we don't get those for some reason. I was angry last season when we missed some huge games.

Neither could I! I was going to record it and watch it 'as-live', as I'm at the Scotland vs Argentina game at Murrayfield.
Guess it'll just be a highlights job instead.

This buckeye team is not playoff worthy. Haskins is a phenomenal QB but the defence lacks consistency, like the Sooners.
It's another bama v clemson final IMO
Scraping past Maryland....
Wolverines to win the big 10. Final 4, bama, clemson, fighting irish and the wolverines.
Although I would love to see UCF in the final 4

Genuinely believe that the Urban Meyer controversy has affected the buckeyes.
Maryland is a good programme BUT to be run that close isn't the resume of a CFP team. Granted the wolverines were poor week one v notre dame BUT since that they have been unplayable. Ohio State isn't remotely in the conversation. If anyone is it should be... UCF or Washington State.

I dont know what to say to that. Not a single pass rush, which had supposedly been our strength all year!
It feels like that era when we just couldnt beat Hearts. No matter what, we were always second best. Change is needed in Ann Arbor, top to bottom.
Hopefully next year is at least a contest, as I’ll be at the game!

Opened up and ran out comfortable in the end, but I can't see BB being happy with the first 3 quarters. A very ordinary Jets team bullied us.
My fantasy matchup is already done and dusted. Shame, as it's primarily because James seems to have chucked in the towel.

True, ran out comfortable winners in the end but I do think our D gives up too many ****ty yards for us to be a proper contender this year.
Tricky game for the Saints tonight in Dallas I feel, just a few weeks ago I was looking forward to a blowout win but the cowboys have improved greatly since they traded for Cooper. So I’m going for a close win for either team [emoji102]

One thing I have noticed in both the nfl and college that is doing my nut in and finding myself turning off is the loud obnoxious horns that sound anytime anything of note happens, like someone gets a sack! Someone catches the ball, the game ends! I know it happens in Atlanta and New England, the vikings have one as well. The one at the Sec championship game was just non stop.

We looked absolutely terrified of the Vikings' pass rush defense last night. Brady resorted to short, sharp passing the entire game, with our ever-improving run game picking up the rest of the slack.
Chargers looking good, Chiefs still looking good...could be a West Coast Superbowl for a change this year?

Didn't realise how tough their runin was until I was speaking to a Chargers fan at work today - they need to play the Chiefs, Steelers, Bengals and Broncos. Chiefs have the Ravens, Chargers, Seahawks and Raiders.
On PAPER, we definitely have the easier runin against the Dolphins, Steelers, Bills and Jets, but we're notorious for losing games we should win.
I'm actually not even sure I want to see us reaching the Sueprbowl this year - the thought of Todd Gurley vs our run defense gives me the fear.

I'm sticking with the Rams and Texans, but as ever it's all about who brings their best game into January. A team could still come out of nowhere. I wouldn't even write off Philly coming good again, depending on tonight's game.

A pretty stinging article.
I guess the question is how much does Kaepernick now want to play in the NFL himself? It would be an utter circus, like we've never seen before in any sport.
He also hasn't played in almost 2 years now, including on a practice squad, so I can't see him being ready to be propelled into a playoff chasing team in conjunction with the aforementioned circus and thrive.
I'd like to see BB take him to New England - we've had some really ****ty individuals in our squads in recent years and he's managed to get them focusing on football and winning games. With TB12's retirement looming, give CK a year to get fit, get sharp and learn our system.
But I doubt Kraft will want that circus in New England.

The article points out that the two guys drafted into the emergency situation at Washington are ring rusty as well, one guy hasn't taken a snap since 2011 or something. For a team with that kind of offensive scheme (also Seattle, Houston) hes the ideal backup. In a parallel universe where politics isn't an an issue, of course).

Broncos have a really easy schedule remaining(Raiders 49ers Browns before finishing off against the Chargers who will likely already have their place wrapped up). I'd say the way they're playing a wildcard place is likely, and the way Lindsay is playing they have a chance in the playoffs. 100/1 odds to win it all? Good value.

Broncos really struggled last night. Injuries have really hit us especially with Sanders being out for the season and Sutton isn't 100%. Traded Thomas away and have some injuries in the secondary as well.
Schedule helps us but might well struggle to make a wildcard spot now. At least Keenum seems to be playing better than start of the season.

The Chargers are another one entering the 'are they for real?' beauty contest. Rivers is playing some amazing football (the 25 straight completions in a game earlier in the season, some real toughness under pressure last night), and impressively beating a side like the Chiefs with Gordon and Allen both injured. Bosa leading a tough defense and a good line. The play calling was brave going on ridiculous imo, (always take the one point conversion to tie not risk the two point to win was the old way of doing things)... but it worked.
They don't have any fans but they have plenty good players. And theyre in the playoffs with a decent chance of a first round bye
