It wont get any easier for him now Burlesons broken his leg. Megatron was being constantly double teamed as it was and now Stafford (who was rotten again) is running out of targets. Who who have thunk it, Vikings contenders, Lions potential first draft pick in 2013?
My peseason prediction Bears looking very decent so far. Cutler is a proper tough QB.
All of this, hopefully, increases LeShoure's value. He already has no competition in the backfield and with the receiving options dwindling it could be that LeShoure carries more of the load - assuming he doesn't sh*t the bed! If he ends up being a bust then I think we can say that the Lions are done for the year.
With that said, let's get the bidding started on Mikel! :D

Had a great day out at Wembley yesterday but was quite surprised in the end by how easy we ran out winners.
After their opening drive and decent progression in their next possession to get back to back first downs with ease, I genuinely thought they were going to cut through our defense at will and we would have had a shoot out, but a combination of our defense waking up and St Louis penalties resulted in a pretty easy game in the end.
To watch Tom Brady flowing like that, finding pass after pass was a joy to witness. My only complaint was that the crowd were quite subdued throughout. I don't know if the lack of segregation perhaps nullifies any chance for an atmosphere but even before the Pats started to run away, there was very little atmosphere indeed.
Tempted to head down for one of the two games again next year as they should be good match-ups. Genuine pleasure to be able to see my team playing again for the first time in a few years! It is a genuine shame for you Jets fans that you've not had the pleasure yet. It was quite clear yesterday from the tops quite how large a support you have in the UK! Hopefully they come over at some point so I can turn up and boo them with the same venom which was being aimed at us last night (but all as good banter :greengrin).

I have to agree with The Story.....
Great evening, but the atmosphere was a little flat and got more so as the game wore on. As a Pats fan it was fantastic to the see the team in the flesh again and the flow of Brady and the offence was sublime to watch. But to be honest after their first 2 drives the Rams did very little and the contest suffered as a result.
....and the ONLY good thing about the Jets is the colour of the uniform.

You can send yours to Harrods. Mine will go to Tesco and meet yours after. Was thinking more along the lines of them going for diner or something and wee could meet them afterwards and head out. We could all meet up on the Saturday night for a drink and then on the Sunday the women can hit the shops, sites while we're at the game (or in TSSF case go to the game). I still don't see us reaching the Superbowl in all honesty - we destroyed a poor St Louis team but our weaknesses are there for all to see.

The Pack putting themselves back into play off contention with a win streak, on a bye week next week but the 2nd half of the season looks brutal, I think all but 2 are NFC North rival games and one of the non NFC north is the Giants!
On the College front i dont see how LSU are still so high in the Rankings, 2 games lost now and still above unbeaten Louisville and 1 loss Oregon St and Florida St?
Its going to be between Oregon, Alabama and Notre Dame for the Chanpionship game, I personally would like to see Oregon and Notre Dame just because I'm bored of Alabama winning all the time :greengrin
also why does ESPN America seem to show non stop SEC games?

I'm aware we're very ordinary (i.e., crap) this year but after watching Alabama absolutely obliterate us in the opener, I said then that I fancied they would go all the way. My opinion hasn't really changed to be honest. I reckon Oregon might give them more of a game than Notre Dame but I'd rather see Notre Dame get to the BCS as they haven't had much to cheer about in recent seasons!
I still fancy the Bears to win the NFC North in all honesty but I don't think you should have TOO much trouble against the Lions or Vikings. Granted, Detroit look a lot better than they did after week 5, having put a few wins together, but they're still nothing too special. Playoffs shouldn't be an issue, but probably as a WC spot.

Likewise. While our secondary was always a bit stronger than our d-line, we have definitely regressed a bit. However keeping Ponder to such low yardage shows promise and Peterson is always going to cause problems for any team.
I'm delighted that our receiver have started to make some good completions finally!
You're quite right though, I'm happy that we have the chance to regroup and improve with a training match on Sunday.

Nothing to like, they should have never moved from Baltimore. Peyton held that team together towards the end.
Luck is a player though, a great player possibly from the looks of things but will they be another team to build round one or two players and neglect the other areas? (looking hard at st.louis, detroit...)

Luck is a player though, a great player possibly from the looks of things but will they be another team to build round one or two players and neglect the other areas? (looking hard at st.louis, detroit...)
I suppose one of the quirks of being a relative newcomer to the sport is that I'm not as prejudiced towards a team because of their history yet. I didn't particularly have any strong feelings towards the Colts before this year, but quite understandably the events of this year has made them one of my preferred AFC teams. Not least because I'm a huge fan of Luck.

To be fair I dont really hate any team (except the Jessies!), The Colts were a great team under payton and were a big rival to The Great Tom Brady led Patriots. I used to know a guy that drank in my pub who was a Colts "fan" and a complete dick so any mentions of the Colts reminds me of him and that pisses me off haha! :greengrin
Just a snap shot of how much of a dick this guy was/is: He stopped claiming to be a Colts fan last season to call himself "just a fan of the game" however I saw the man cry when they lost to the Saints. He thinks he understands Basketball but thinks LeBron James is "****" which clearly makes him an idiot. He talks in an American accent but has never left Southampton too. Guy drove me up the wall calling me glory hunter for following the Boston teams while he "supports" the Colts, Lakers, Alabama and whoever won the Stanley Cup the year before.:brickwall
Sorry, little rant there!

Can't believe the turnaround in the Colts! They were properly honking last season and are now on course for the playoffs right now.
Hay: Other than the Patriots, I don't see why ANYONE would chose to follow the other New England teams as a means of "glory" as the Red Sox have been terrible for the past few seasons and the Bruins aren't exactly knocking on the door every year.
Having said that, even we're not really a "glory" option anymore for newcomers!

I'm not the biggest fan of college football but can someone (most likely DH) explain why Ohio State aren't ranked in the top 4 when they're undefeated? I know they aren't bowl eligible but surely if they can be ranked sixth then they might as well be ranked 3rd or 4th. Is it their schedule? Or is it just that Alabama and Georgia are still considered better teams?
The ranking system (and in fact the whole playoff system!) seems a lot fairer in college hoops - where a one off loss doesn't effectively kill your season.

I feel sorry for Tebow. He's a unique talent, and despite his flaws took a poor Broncos team to the playoffs last season when he had no real right to. He just needs a coach and a system that works with him. Both Sanchez and Tebow have been undermined by the Jets organisation IMO, it's all a bit of a mess.

I agree. It was a bad move for him especially as his alternative would have been to have remained in Denver and learned from one of the true greats of the game. He would maybe have sacrificed a year or so not playing regularly, but Peyton isn't going to be playing for much longer with his age/injury risk (though they said the same about Favre).
Instead, he's stuck in a thankless hole where the starting QB is nowhere near good enough to "mentor" him and evidently the Jets coaching staff aren't capable/interested/willing to try and develop him. It's a farce some of the positions he's been deployed in this season.
I still don't get the motivation behind signing him and I still don't get why he thought it was a good idea. He needs to get out of New York promptly as he's going to rot there whilst the Jets continue to back one of the poorest starting QBs in the league.

I agree with both posts, He will be best leaving there and going somewhere where he will get some game time. IMO there are worse QB's than him going about
James.
15-11-2012, 07:59 PM
First off, there's no way Tebow was staying in Denver - Elway, rightly, didn't rate him. Secondly, the Jets' issues this year run much deeper than the quarterback position. I still rate Sanchez and I feel under the right circumstances he can be a successful QB for us in the future. You don't take your team to two AFC championship games and 4 road playoff victories if you're one of the leagues poorest quarterbacks. Unfortunately his play and his confidence has been absolutely shot to bits by injuries to key players like Holmes and Keller, the ridiculous offensive packages that Sporano has brought in and this notion that Tebow should be on the field every few snaps too. The whole Tebow mess has been predictable and its obvious that he's only here under the whim of Woody Johnson.
Haymaker
16-11-2012, 05:57 PM
Tebow is clearly not good enough - I will grant him the fact he did well in Denver briefly but a few good games doesnt make a Quarterback (look at Matt Cassel!) He had Kyle Orton ranked ahead of him in Denver!
He needs a lot of work but he isnt anywhere he can develop and also the media wont let him develop! This "Tebow-mania" is a big problem, every day I watch sports center and they will have some debate on Tebow as if the Jets are keeping a Peyton, Brady or Eli on the bench rather than a guy who threw for 22 yards!
He should move to Jacksonville and let the organisation build around him. I have to admit, the man is taking it all very well and appearing to just get on with work - I probably wouldnt be all smiles and be nice if I were in his shoes.
James.

Our starters were pretty much out of the game by that point. Brady and Welker had sat out the previous series and he only came in for the extra point. Gronk had sat out the previous plays also but went in to block on the extra point as he always does. Things like the field-goal unit don't have a wealth of backups and because they're on the field for so little time, I doubt anyone other than these guys practice the drills as the roster is pretty set here.
Thankfully Aaron Hernandez is scheduled to return for the game against the Jets on Friday morning but we'll definitely miss the big guy!

Jimmy has been Injured this season, He missed 1 game totally and got hurt on the first play against San Diego so has basically missed 2 full games. If we look again in 2 weeks it will give a better suggestion on who's stats are better this season.

This is Gronkowski's third season (second full season) of professional football and he's already amassed 2621 receiving yards with 37 TDs. He also has a 2 yard rushing TD and missed a few games at the end of last season owing to injury.
At the same career stage, Graham has amassed 2228 receiving yards with 24 TDs.
They're both exceptional TEs and it's a bit like the Messi/Ronaldo argument. Rather than quibble over the slight statistical differential between them, let's just agree that they're both going to set the league alight and enjoy them :greengrin

I would agree on that. They are the Messi/Ronaldo of the TE position.
Jimmy Grahams back story is truly amazing though.
Most of the public is only recently becoming aware of the story of Jimmy Graham. I find this very unfortunate, but true. Graham is a tight end for the New Orleans Saints football team. As of this writing, he is the leading tight end in the NFL in terms of receptions and touchdowns. But most importantly, he is proving to be a true “baller” in the game of life!
Born and raised in Greensboro, North Carolina, this 24-year-old has scored big both on and off the field. Just imagine, at the age of 11, being put in a parent’s car and then being dropped off at an orphanage.
Well, unfortunately for Graham, he doesn’t have to imagine—this was his life. Graham recounts the story of him being in the backseat of a van with his housemates from the orphanage and being beaten until his eyes were swollen shut. He called his mother and asked her to pick him up and she simply hung up the phone. Ouch!
After bouncing around from house to house, he was eventually taken into the home of his future adoptive mother, Becky Vinson during his high school years.
According to Graham, he and his biological mother are “slowly rebuilding a relationship, but it’s moving very slowly… I told her that I forgive her, but I won’t forget.”
Graham is a better man than me. I’m very impressed with the way he presents himself on TV. But, his attitude towards his mother goes to the type of character he has. Isn’t it a shame that more people are aware of Beyoncé’s pregnancy than Graham’s story?
Graham, who now stands 6’6” and 260 pounds, earned a basketball scholarship to attend the University of Miami (commonly referred to as “The U”). He played football in his last year of school (along with four years of basketball) and graduated in 2009 with a double major in marketing and management. He then enrolled in graduate school so he could play one year of football. During the 2010 NFL draft, Graham was picked by the New Orleans Saints in the third round (95th overall pick) and signed to a four year, $ 2.5 million contract.
There’s a lot more to this story, but because of space constraints, there is not enough room to write about everything; but just Google his name and you can read all the details of this fascinating person (or watch ESPN’s profile below). So, the next time you hear or read a negative story about a professional athlete, just think about Michael Vick or Jimmy Graham. Most professional athletes are good, upstanding citizens. Don’t allow the media to cloud your views because of a few bad apples.
Jimmy Graham’s story makes you cry, makes you angry, and makes you joyful. You can’t help but cry when you think of the traumatic experience he suffered at the age of 11. You can’t help but be angry at how an adult and a mother could subject her own child to such a life-altering situation. But, you can’t help but be joyful about how an 11-year-old, traumatized kid could develop into such a wonderful, marvelous person!
This story is not about sports, it’s about life. We all have faced or will face our own traumatic situation(s) in our life. How we respond will determine the quality of our life.
There are not many people who I really want to meet in life, but Jimmy Graham is definitely one. I want to know how he went from failing grades, to a basketball scholarship to a very prominent university (with a double major in marketing and management), finished in four years, then enrolled in graduate school so he could play one year of football, and then to excel on the professional level in the sport. All this while overcoming the trauma of his youth.
Jimmy Graham, your life is truly a touchdown. Whether you know it or not, you have already won the Super Bowl of life!
Watch ESPN’s profile of Jimmy Graham below:
The clip is here, http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=7140597
It reminds me a bit of the blind side but at least michael oher was adopted by a rich family and not one living in a trailer park.
I saw the Jimmy Graham story last year, truly heart wrenching and heart warmming in equal measures, good to see him succeeding, could easily have turned into a bad lad but good luck to him :)
just watched it again on youtube, he's worth more than $98 dollars now :)

We struggled on the road against Seattle, Baltimore and Arizona - that's already cause for worry if we manage to get into the playoffs (which I think we will).
Games against this lot are akin to the "derby" in football. Form really does go out the window and they nearly managed to upset us in Foxborough.

Sierra Nevada Pale Ale is still one of, if not THE best beers I have ever tasted. Working for BrewDog, as I do, I have encountered quite a few Anchor tap takeovers in our bars so and quite familiar with the beers. While I like Anchor Steam, Liberty Ale is a beer I buy whenever I can. Brekle's Brown is decent and Old Foghorn is good (as far as a Barleywine goes!) Rogue and Flying Dog are another two breweries I buy whenever I can. I have quite mixed feeling on Brooklyn but still appreciate them as far superior to pretty much everything on mainstream sale.
I just got home at the start of the 4th quarter so am geared up for the rest of the night. One of our American regulars brought in some pumpkin pie. First time I have tasted it and I am mightily impressed.

I went to sleep about half way through the 3rd of the cowboys game, and didn't think they would make any sort of Comeback!
Also see the Jets are still struggling.

Well, the Jessies can probably start taking it easy and focus on next year - priority number one is to show Sanchez the door. He is easily the worst QB we've come up against this year and the amount of turnovers he had last night were unbelievable. What was he doing when he just ran headfirst into his own lineman before falling down on his arse and dropping the ball?!
Our defense were exceptional last night - we forced fumbles, covered the pass well and got some big turnovers when it mattered. 3 TDs in 53 seconds during the 2nd quarter was quite unbelievable.
And what more can be said about the man himself - Tom Brady passed for 323 yards and 3 TDs and rushed 5 yards for 1, (resulting in 31 fantasy points) and takes his record against the Jets to 17-4. That was also BBs 200th win as head coach.
Tired this morning but very pleased :greengrin

Not to mention The Game on Saturday, which should perk DH up after last night
Quite fancy OSU will destroy us, though we've looked a better team since we ditched Denard mid-way through the season!
I've not seen OSU much this season but their record speaks for itself. Quite interested to see how Gator-esque their offense is.

That QB you guys have looks pretty good though. The buckeyes will be a tough game though

He is decent but has a lot to learn. I don't know if Denard has just been found out as a poor QB now that his running weapon has become well known. Some of his decision making has been awful, but Gardener has slotted in nicely and has improved us a bit.
I don't give us any hope down there at all. I wouldn't have given us any hope had it been at in Ann Arbor either in all honesty but I'll watch regardless.

The Sanchez play was the funniest thing i ever saw. Run facefirst into your own O Linemans ass and then fumble the ball.

You'd think. Bloody 3 o'clock kick-offs on a Saturday :greengrin:brickwall means I'm gonna miss the game. Quick question for you, what's the script with the schedule for the season. Never really paid much attention to it but jut realized we've only played 4 games away from the shoe this year .

I think it's done by negotiation for the different schools but for the schools we face regularly (you guys, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Nebraska etc) it's an alternating basis.
I guess you'll probably have more road games next year in that instance. We've had a pretty balanced split this year of home and road games.
I'm not going to ER tomorrow. Far too much to do and don't fancy passing on this norovirus to those who would have the misfortune of being around me in the stadium :greengrin
Plus, after last week at Dens, I'm officially and jinx and have henceforth been banned from future matches by TQM and cocopops1875 :greengrin

Well, here we go. Everyone expects an OSU win so we've nothing to lose today.
OSU defense will be hard to break down and we have far too many holes in our defense so I fancy this might not even be close.
It's a good weekend for matchups with rivalries all over the place. South Carolina @ Clemson, Florida @ Florida State, Oregon @ Oregon State, Michigan @ OSU, Georgie @ Georgia Tech....

This could be a rout.
Conceded a TD in the opening minute and a half, turn the ball over in our first possession and get backed up on a blocking penalty to start our second.
Edit: Roundtree with the TD for Michigan!

Good stop by our defense but Ohio's penalties killed them in that drive.
Get the FG so 10-7.

Officials making a few bad calls.
Quite an obvious facemask penalty which should have been called against us there and wasn't.
Closer than I thought it would be....so far!

****ing joke.
One angle was absolutely conclusive that he was down at the half yard line. Typical officiating in the latrine.
