They're not gutless if they are donig what they need to survive. Watford needed to be 3-0 before they started playing, thats not admirable.

I’m still not convinced he’ll leave, he’s Villa through and through, I hope he stays. I go down here every year and they absolutely adore super John, but Grealish is their main man, he’s an absolute hero.

I haven't been that impressed the few times I've seen him play. Some of the figures quoted for him are unreal. I just don't see the likes of Spurs or Manchester United paying £80m for him or whatever

He’s a top quality player who’s worth every penny. When you look at some of the players that have gone for similar money he’s better than most of them, he’s a proper football player and a match winner.

He's been a stand out in a bottom three team for a lot of the season. He will be terrific in a better team IMHO.

SJM was great at the start of the season, form tailed off, he got injured then after lockdown he really struggled. Came on to a game in the last 2 matches thankfully. Can't see anyone making bids for him - Grealish and Luiz are the stand outs in that team. Hopefully he'll kick on next season once Villa sign a couple of decent strikers (if they don't they'll be doomed).

That’s the thing, no team in the bottom half have a player anywhere near as good as Grealish. In a good team he’d be a superstar, he reminds me a lot of Chris Waddle.

What are you talking about? He is a talented player but barely scored a goal or created an assist since Jan and he only scored today because the goalie dived out the way. He is talented imo overrated and not sure he is good enough to play in a much better team to be honest. One man team :greengrin obviously too busy listening to Sky pundits.

Fair play to the guy, not may players know when to give it up and there’s no doubt he could play on at a lower level.

Think it’s defenders they need.Sheffield have proved that you can prosper in that league without scoring a lot of goals but you just can’t give them away like Villa do.

The more English games I watch, the more infuriated I get by players writhing around after a nothing tackle, only to get straight back up once they’ve got the decision.

My word for that is cheating.

:agree:

watched a player in a game a few weeks ago, a midfielder, who picked up the ball wide at the corner of his own box. Opposition player challenged him as he tried to kick the ball away. It’s clear there’s no foul, but the midfielder immediately starts limping and hirpling, half drops to the ground grimacing, looking to the ref for a foul.

the ref immediately waves it away, and the player starts sprinting hard to get up the pitch, no limp or injury at all.

its blatant cheating

Agree the amount of diving and play acting is ridiculous and refs seem unwilling to punish it for some reason.

There were at least 3 or 4 instances of Man Utd players going down softly in the box looking for pens. And I’ve seen the same each time Ive watched them over the last few weeks. Brutal and I can see why they get so many pens but there is a problem IMO with the way the laws are being applied around VAR;

If the referee DOES award the pen himself, VAR will back him up and award on the basis of any contact whatsoever. So pretty much any contact whatsoever, however minimal or soft, will still be awarded.

If the referee DOES NOT award the pen, VAR will consider if there is enough contact to award - is it a clear and obvious error. Ie there can be some, but there has to be enough.

Feels to me referees are pointing to the spot far more frequently and you are far more likely to get the pen once the referee has already awarded it than if not. I’d be interested to see the stats on how the number of pens awarded under VAR in the premier league compares with previous seasons to back that up.

Fulham v Brentford could be a cracker, two good footballing teams and both with a bit of a soft underbelly. Such a pity it will be played with no fans, it would would have been a great occasion. Still should be a good match with a few goals in it.

And just to add a fond farewell to Griffin Park, a cracking day out, infamous for having a pub on each corner of the ground, naturally an away fans favourite. Fond memories.

Made mistakes but he's an improvement on what they had. They paid £80m cos he's English and they're Manchester United.

I saw grealish at old Trafford earlier in the season. He scored a good goal. He looked good for 40 mins or so they faded. He's good, not great and I wouldn't be spending 80mill on him when that money could be better spent.
