Wouldn't put it past United needing a win at Leicester last game of the season and losing.
I don't think they will need anything by then.

Watching these EPL games, do they make summer football more attractive, or do we stick with November (winter) rain?
not for me. Love my winter festive football
Got slaughtered on here earlier in the season for saying Leicester are an average side who were in good form. Last 10 games, 11 points, 14th in the form table. I think they've been found out a bit.
Agree, take away Vardy's goals and they're a mid table team.

I watched him a few times before the season stopped and thought he was a total enigma. I hesitate to use the word lazy, given recent debates around racism and vocabulary, but he certainly didn't move with any great deal of urgency in the few games I seen him back in the first half of the season, and spent a lot of time looking irritated. He reminded me a little of Balotelli in his final year at City, where his ego was outshining his effort levels. Maybe he was just not fully fit/carrying an injury, but I've found him to be a different player since the restart. He's looked class - but not in the opening half hour tonight.

If he’s not mentally in the game, he’s not in the game. It’s also evident if you run about a lot and have multiple people disrupting his passing lanes he’s ineffective. His passing and movement is world class though.

Man U have been good since the return, they look very capable of scoring goals whenever they go forward. I do think they still look a level before City and Liverpool at the moment, but a good summer window will have them challenging.

Rashford, Martial, Fernandez and Greenwood have all looked sensational since coming back from the restart. Like you, I think they're a good recruitment window away from challenging again - Solskjaer's done a good job since coming in.

Did you? He made 2 appearences between October and when the season was called for a total of 70 minutes.
Don't believe the media nonsense from Souness and such. Pogba has been consistently Uniteds best player when fit since he joined. He gets slaughtered for 1 bad game and 10 good ones get ignored.

I think he attracts that criticism because of the price tag he commanded (not his fault obviously, as I watch a fair bit of Serie A and he was excellent with Juve).
I'm pretty sure I saw him before the interruption (was one of his games away to Watford around Christmas?), but maybe I am mostly thinking of last season. I've definitely criticised him in the past on here when I've been watching him and he's failed to impress, which again, is mostly because I know what he's capable of from his time in Italy.

Yeah, he played 26 minutes, his first game in months, vs Watford. Game was already over when he came on.
He is a brilliant player. United are a much better side with him, as shown since the break. No player is world class every week except Messi really do he definitely has the odd bad game but no more than anyone else.

Arsenal keep Aubameyang.
Torreira gets a season in.
Two new centre halves, maybe only one if Saliba shows what he has got. Keep Ceballos, and RM wouldn’t have loaned him without a sale in mind.
Another kick-on from Saka, Willock, Tierney, Nketiah, Maitland-Niles, Nelson having another season’s development.
Covered at keeper, covered at full or wing backs, probably covered in centre mid and covered up top.
Arteta is constructing a team. If Arsenal keep Aubameyang or can somehow replace him like for like, and get one, maybe two decent central defenders, then they are surely back to challenging for the title.

To be deducted at the end of the season if it relegates them, if it doesn’t then it will be deducted at the start of next season. I’m sure that’s what I read.

It's the other way about.
If they finish outside the bottom three (which they will now) then the penalty will apply this season, if they had been relegated without the deduction then it would have been applied at the start of next season.
It's going to be close, they're currently 12 points clear of the relegation places, albeit with a massively better goal difference.
Win their last two games and they are safe, even 4 points will probably be enough.

2 games to play for Wigan. Against 4th bottom Charlton next which they must win and then finish up against Fulham who will hopefully be protecting their best players for the play offs.
Charlton are only a point above the relegation places. They play Birmingham tonight. They will be in deep trouble if they don't win tonight and then Wigan beat them.
Luton are probably the biggest danger to Wigan and Charlton. They play Hull next and then finish against mid table, nothing to play for, Blackburn.
It's gonna be tight for Wigan but it is still in their own hands given their superior goal difference.

It’s this season Wigan have misbehaved, they should get the slipper for it this season.
League two Macclesfield don’t know even know now which league they will be playing in the EFL next season (if they still exist) due to a fudged attempt at sanctions which were imposed on them for failing to pay wages. Several times. Might sound familiar. Bury were allowed to die after years of mis-management, Bolton were handed a reprieve. Bury perishing created another space. National League clubs didn’t know who was going up, who was coming down as there should be 2 up and down and that triggered on to the next step in the pyramid. The step below that was voided.
English football is as screwed as our game, it’s got nowt to do with Covid and the whole ‘club hiding behind Admin‘ thing gets my piss boiling.

It’s only fair to applaud Arsenals defensive effort tonight. They had to sacrifice everything in their instincts to stick to Artetas game plan there. Not often you see Arsenal have the discipline to accept the other team will have 75 percent of the ball and about 100 shots on goal but you can still win the game.
if that was Wenger in the latter years the possession would be more 50-50 and Liverpool would have won that 6-2.

No doubt but some of guys started as wingers or weren't always the main striker. They were also competing against better players for a spot.
Kane is a wonderful player, no doubt. Amazing player. Don't think he is better than anyone on that list though. He really needs to go to a big club soon. He is a champions league winning player playing in a side who have won less than Hibs in the last 25 years.

He no doubt should move on to a team more likely to win trophies for his own personal ambitions. But as Scouse mentioned, the fact he has managed that record for a team who win nothing is great going. If he played for Man City he would break Shearer's record.

Shearer didn't exactly play for a good side either. One league winning season in his career. Why isn't he on that list btw? Assume his is better? If he had played for United or Arsenal or not had 3/4 seasons out with injury he'd have set an ever better record in fairness.

That was just the stat I came across, no idea how many games it took Shearer. But yeah you would expect him to have scored more in better teams. Surprised he never really kicked on for England, Kane will end up taking Rooney's record too imo.
Editt: quick browse through transfermarkt.co.uk suggests that Shearer did it in 330-335 games.

I don't know if it's the case here, but these kind of stats often only consider the Premier League era, so Shearer might have been ruled out because he started before that.
Because of course football was invented by Sky in 1992.

Transfermarkt has Shearer down as playing 23 games for Southampton in the old First Division as well as 2 FA Cup games before joining Blackburn when the Premier League was introduced.

Yeah someone's got it mixed up somewhere. Transfermarkt says Shearer only scored 8 goals in 20 First Division games for Southampton. Maybe someone on here knows if he played more games than that for Southampton.

Kane has the advantage of effectively having the team built around him and playing to his strengths. A number of others mentioned work in some sort of rotation. Aguero had to compete with a Carlos Tevez, Mario Balotelli, and Edin Dzeko in his early years at Manchester City.
However, it is a great achievement by Kane to score so many goals in an often faltering Spurs team.

Nonsense decision, they should be given a set time to review offside decisions on VAR. If they need 5 minutes to draw multiple lines on the screen and zoom in on someone's boot etc to tell if it was offside or not then it's not offside and it's time to award the goal and move on.

Tend to agree
Think offside there shouldn't be the minute lines drawn if not given by linesman and not clear error then goal.

I think West Ham will "do a Liverpool", they did the hard part last night and have now (barring a miracle) achieved what they set out to do and avoided relegation. I don't see them going to Old Trafford and getting anything.
Tottenham have also still got a chance of getting a Europa League place and have a decent home record. I think there's a good chance that Manchester Utd will go into the final game with at least a 2 point lead.

The first one was stupid to give the referee the decision to make but it was a total overreaction from the Burnley player. There was hardly any force used but he deserved a red card for getting involved.
The second one was unlucky and I've seen yellows given for similar tackles.

Both stonewallers IMO. Overreaction doesn't come into it, the ref looks back at VAR and sees the elbow.
2nd a clear, uncontrollable lunge. Very rare to see a yellow for that, almost always a red.

Leeds are onto a great thing and have already shown they can succeed without splashing the cash. Why would you hand all of that over to a nasty regime who will use your club as a propaganda tool? (yes I know the answer£)

Seriously?
Leeds are onto a great thing and have already shown they can succeed without splashing the cash. Why would you hand all of that over to a nasty regime who will use your club as a propaganda tool? (yes I know the answer£)We've got an American owner who's a Republican. They usually back Trump presently in the US. And are much worse than even the Qatari rulers. It's made me hold back on the lavish praise given to Ron Gordon, because I don't know if he truly reflects the body of Hibs supporters, who are generally liberal. The 'Thanks NHS' sponsorship surprised me but makes me grateful we've still got Leeann on board.
Not all business is tied up with politics of a country. I think saying I don't like the Qataris is making a general assumption about all citizens from there which has an obvious connotation too.
I don't like the ruling family in Saudi Arabia who are specifically behind a takeover at Newcastle. I hope they fail in their takeover as it will further legitimize a murderous individual in Muhammad bin Salman. I can't believe broadcasting rights rather than that murder isn't the issue in the takeover.
Just saying we needn't tar all foreign business with the same brush as the rulers because it doesn't accurately reflect the country's people.

He’s a peculiar player. Obviously his international experience speaks for itself but he just seems clumsy at times and is prone to weird decision making.

You are unreal. How you are not manager of a top flight club I've no idea. All he usually does is give away stupid fouls and doesn't track back properly. But immense tonight and about time too.

I'm obviously not good enough to be a manager of a top flight club. Thanks for the compliment though mate, appreciated.
Unai Emery, Arsene Wenger, Mikel Arteta, Ottmar Hitzfeld and Lucien Farve are all good enough, though, and have consistently picked Xhaka.
Xhaka is a very good player, as he is showing tonight. You don't captain Monchengladbach, Switzerland and Arsenal many times without quality.

Xhaka is one of the most frustrating players I've ever seen. Chooses to give away stupid fouls rather than track his man properly and make a tackle. Hopefully Arteta has sorted him out as he has bags of quality.

Think BT sport made a good point. We’re so used to Man City winning everything under Pep when they don’t it gets blown out of proportion. Think they said he had won 8 of the last 10 trophies (assume there were talking domestically).
He does need to rebuild the defence though.

No FA cup for Man City. Has Guardiola ever won a tournament in which he didn't have the best players and/or the most finance?
When he managed Barcelona they were clearly the best team in Europe whoever was in charge. Bayern were the European champions when he moved to them, but he couldn't repeat the achievement in his time in charge. Manchester City have unequalled finance so he's won most things in his time in England, and he may take them to champions league success, but has he achieved the continental dominance he was hired for?
I'm not saying he isn't a very fine manager, but is he a great? I'd like to see how he'd do at a club where he doesn't have a massive financial advantage over his rivals.

You’re kind of contradicting yourself because he’s still got the most expensive squad assembled in the league and Pete will be raging but he got absolutely outclassed tonight: Fair play Arteta it’s who Everton should have went for in the same way United should have went for Klopp when Moyes was evidently not happening but still got a shady run of it. Best manager in the world is Klopp though and there is little argument. Him or Stubbsy.
No doubting Pep is a wonder coach but like last night when teams are organised defensively his little men attacking mentality doesn't work as he has no options to change things. One of the commentator said last night that Dzeko would've been a great option for him to have, crosses kept coming in for the little guys like Jesus and Sterling and also that Arsenal were a much bigger team. Arteta out coached his mentor last night.
