Spurs v United

isnt having expert analysis from Keane, Evra and Neville a bit unbalanced?

I’d say more unhinged than unbalanced.

Hard to believe there’s a debate about Spurs lack of trophies. They’ve won nothing other than a League Cup in over 20 years, a competition that other clubs use for their 2nd XI. It’s only the last 4 or 5 years they’ve been competing to get above Arsenal never mind anything else. Even the season they were nailed on to win the title they shat it, Leicester won it and the Gunners were runners up! Spurs only managed 2nd prize in Green Street....

Spot on. They are actually like Hearts. Media darlings who can do no wrong, obsessed with finishing above their rivals. Wenger won more in his worst period ever than Spurs have in 30 years.

The money excuse really doesn't work either. Just because they got world class players for cheap (Kane, Erikson, Vertonghen, Alderweireld, Lloris etc) does make their squad less quality.

Okay, we can use English clubs if you're going to be silly.

Birmingham, Swansea, Middlesbrough, Wigan, Blackburn Rovers, Leicester and Portsmouth have all won as many trophies as Spurs in the last 20 years.

Spurs record with the players they have had/have is really poor.

I was about to say that I dont know the stats but I am sure that MWHibbies would so you beat me to it !! I think in many games involving Hibs in the last couple of years that Hibs maybe had 10 to 20 attempts on target , many missing, and the opposition maybe 5 to 10 depending on who they were playing outwith the top teams. I would imagine in the English Premier League it may be well less that 10 attempts per team . Over to you sir !

Your last paragraph is spot on. I agree.

However the fact you said Ross County have won more trophies in the last 10 years is daft, hence why you are now backtracking. As I have pointed out Celtic have won more trophies the last 10 years than Liverpool , but it means absolutely nothing as they play in different leagues.

Probably true but English sides are tactically well ahead of teams here, meaning games are tighter and more methodical. I personally prefer watching other leagues to the English leagues, with some exceptions (Liverpool, Arsenal, Spurs, Southampton recently been very good to watch) but a good quality English game is definitely worth watching.

I'm not back tracking. It is true. Yeah its true Celtic have won more than Liverpool but Celtic winning means very little, does it? Their the richest team in the league by miles and have zero competition. Ross County were a pub team when Spurs last won something.

Yeah I think you are right. I played amateur footie from 8 to 45 but had a trial with Dundee United in 1981 at the height of their time. I was a bruiser of a centre forward before switching to centre half for my last 2 years. I guess I prefer to see players knocking 2 bells out of each other and goal mouth action rather than the technical side . A good old scrap gets my vote. I played against Hibs first team in 1986 just before they played Rangers when Souness got sent off in the first game of the season and they ripped us apart playing triangles all across the pitch. Taught me a lesson as we were one of the top East of Scotland sides at the time but just couldnt compete. For whet its worth i got brought down by Gordon Rae and would normally take penalties. The captain overruled me and scored against Alan Rough . We got beat 5 - 1 with John Collins scoring 2 crackers !

Pointless challenge. Been saying for a while that players barging into other players who are off balance/jumping was going to lead to something very bad. Looks like a broken leg.

Second serious injury for an Arsenal player since returning already.

Looking bleak for our green German chums. 2 behind Dusseldorf with 1 game to play. Best chance is a play off if they win and Dusseldorf lose last game, otherwise automatic relegation to 2nd Bundesliga.

Statements like that just discredit everything else you say.

I don't think I'd want my striker charging into a keeper when he clearly had 2 hands on the ball. The guy is probably out for the season now with a season injury, nothing ''snowflake'' about that. Was a needless challenge IMO. Barging into guys who are off balance/jumping is very dangerous. There is a reason it is banned in basketball for example. You have to give guys space to land safely.

Basketball is a NON contact sport though. Watching it at full speed i would say the player has evrey right yo challenge in a safr manner, hoe many times does a keeper take his eye off the ball/ spill it etc

Slowed down it does look worse, all the arsenal players giving it the big tough guys at the end but if they showed that much fight during a game they may win one edit: that was my snowglake mentality comment aimed at the arsenal players. Sorry but any sport that involves jumping/landing will always have jarring, twisting injuries whether challenging or not

It's a chronic league. Most of the games are like watching paint dry even with full stadia. More like a game of chess. All the big teams play in stadia too big for them and make the difference up with tourists with the exception of maybe Everton. Watched a classic Man United game the other night from early 90's with 40 odd thousand and the place was absolutely rocking. Now it's a morgue with almost double the crowd. I can't get on the bandwagon with it at all I'm afraid.

Week in week out but they have a very soft underbelly. Easy on the eye and play some good stuff but not clinical enough in front of goal and make too many mistakes. If that team goes up without considerable additions they will be butchered in the EPL.

I watched Athletico Madrid v Real Valladolid, they had the canned fan support singing, booing, cheering, the lot and a really good super imposed/animated fan support background, I thought it was great, I think it all depends on how this is implemented, just seeing the banners draped over the seats and hearing a poor level of canned support doesn't really add anything.

Strange how he ripped the Hibs defence apart in the pre-season match at Easter Road.

The defences in the English Premier League are far stronger than ours.

Even by Scottish Premiership standards, our defence is pretty poor. One look at the 'goals against' column from last season will highlight that.

They paid £40 million for him and he's managed 2 league goals in 30 games.

Why do their fellow team-mates/staff not also need to self-isolate, in line with Government advice? Pretty sure that's what's happening in Italy - if one player tests positive, the entire team is taken out of comission.

That's true. The teams now seem to poke it around the same way - across and back, occasionally up the wings and back again.

They are scared to try anything different or imaginative. It takes a really special player to break the mould. Or a side like Liverpool or Man City.

Jurgen Klopp is very difficult to dislike. What a job he’s done.

I recall you telling me you didn’t like Klopp despite me telling you their performance against Hoffenheim in 2017 was a sign of something special :greengrin

Well done indeed. A special day:aok:
