If he thinks that's a deliberately thrown elbow to the face I can't see how it can be anything other than a red. If he doesn't think it was deliberate I don't see how it can even be a yellow.
Ref bottled it. It’s either a deliberate elbow and a red or accidental and nothing. Can’t see how you can give a yellow

I agree, England have got the results, but they were a can’t hair away from a draw with Tunisia.

I watched the Spain v Morrocco game and thought the ref seemed to give a lot of decisions in Spain's favour. 4 or 5 Morroccans were booked but Piquet got away with a clear handball and a bad tackle, and in the build up to Spain's 2nd goal a Morroccan was clearly fouled whilst in possession roughly on the half way line.

They carry on like they've been hard done by by the refs even when they haven't (Beckham kicking Simeone and getting a red, Rooney booting a Portuguese in the baws and getting a red), so an unfair VAR red card, probably involving a hero type like Harry Kane, would probably result in an international incident, Ian Wright having a total emotional breakdown and war being declared on Putin for being at fault.

I'm honestly not bothered if they win it. I might quite like them to, but maybe not. It just doesn't really matter that much.
Someone posted earlier that for them winning the World Cup again would emotionally be a bit like us winning the cup. When it's put that way I kind of feel for them.
I'd really like a Colombia or Mexico to win it though, just because I think their whole nations would go completely nuts and I'd hope that if they did win it they would do it with real style and panache.

Numerous retrospective red cards (Black, Walker, Stevenson)
Last min penalty in 2011 new year game.
Penalty in 2012 reduced to at the very most a free kick outside the box.

Yes - the biggest injustices were us not being awarded goals when the ball was over the line.
Forster's one is comparable certainly. The others are obviously frustrating, but being denied actual goals is far worse.
And what were the others things being introduced that had anything like the impact of VAR?

Trivia corner:
Argentina are the only World Cup nation named after a metal, Italian name derived from the Latin argentum, meaning silver.
Interestingly though, there are several different theories of how Spain has its name, one being it came from Phoenician settlers circa 1000BC in whose language 'Spain' translated as ' the land where metal is forged'.

I'm no Spurs fan but Kane is consistent at scoring frequently in the league, in Europe and for England.
The only criticism of him is that he seems to struggle a little against the other top six English clubs apart from Arsenal. That's maybe excused by the fact he's generally playing against top-class defenders and he's been around long enough that the opposition know his style by now.

Ridiculous that Maclaren never played a minute in any of the games but as you say, it suits us from a selfish point of view. They scored 2 goals in 3 games, both penalties and yet they never gave their most in form striker a chance.

That Messi goal is just delicious. Ronaldo doesn't score that.

Linekar clearly still hurting about that glorious, beautiful hand ball. "He's become a bit of a laughing stock I'm afraid". Erm no Gary; ****ting yourself on the park during the world cup would make someone more of a laughing stock
Maradona these days is an embarrassment. The world's TV on him and he's behaving like that. He looked like he was out of his tree throughout the game.

You must be the only one who doesn't think he has become a laughing stock around the world. Manager/coaching - several attempts finished in wild rages, disappearances, drug abuse etc. Too many incidents to list them all. A sad end for a national hero.
The bit in bold proves that no-one should take you seriously.

Dear Terry Wogan
Love the show.
Surprise guest careering on to set with an ekkie'd Diego elbowing Rio out his seat to go face to face and show his knob to the philandering **** on his left please.
THANKS

I was wondering why that muppet Lineker was saying that Maradonna was becoming a laughing stock. Maybe Diego was enjoying some charlie or just a bevvy but I would still rather his company than Linekers who really thinks he is the funniest thing since....sliced bread.

You're being silly here. Have you conducted an opinion poll to judge the percentage of people who think he's a laughing stock?
I don't think he's a laughing stock. I think he's the best player who ever lived and now is a funny guy who's eccentric and bonkers, but still demands respect. Lots of people, I would imagine agree.

He's always been mental. Don't see how me saying linekar is still a bitterly sad man means I shouldnt be taken seriously. It was a great moment and hopefully it's replicated in the last 16 and VAR fails to spot it. There would be a complete meltdown down south
