I’m sure I heard McGlaughlin doesn’t like Potter a while back. Together with the reported interest in Marciano from Israel, perhaps there could be mileage in it.
FWIW I think Marciano is better, but it would be great to take the jambos best player [emoji3]

Could be a short term deal while Marciano recovers.
We won’t sign anyone until the board knows if we are selling SJM, keeping McGeouch, selling Marciano signing Mallan, Kamberi would be my 1st signing though

Nah, he’s defo a puddledrinker
He moved abroad at the age of one, and says his family are all Hibbies, but with him living abroad was never really a die hard hibby.
No mention of supporting Hearts, which you reckon he would have mentioned since he was joining them
#######
The 29-year-old was born in Edinburgh but moved to the Middle East with his parents before his first birthday.
And there Hibees-supporting dad Paul and mum Margaret tried to bring him up as a follower of the Leith club.
So McLaughlin admits the news he was joining the Jambos came as a SHOCK to a number of family members.
And he expects a rough ride from a few of them before the first derby of the season on October 24.
He said: “Some of the conversations have been a little bit awkward!
“My whole family, parents, uncles, aunties, the lot, are all from Edinburgh — and the majority are from the Hibs side, I’ve got to say!
“I was born here but we very quickly moved to the Middle East for my dad’s work in Saudi Arabia and lived there until I was about 11, then moved back to England.
“And growing up, with the parents and uncles who were Hibs fans, that was who I would look out for.
“Having never lived here, having never been given the opportunity to go and support any Scottish side, I’m certainly less of a diehard Hibee.
“I’ve never experienced going to Easter Road or Tynecastle to even watch a game.

No issues with that, I'd rather wait to get the right player and very few clubs are making decent signings at the moment.
However, Kamberi is the one that would concern me given we have until 14th June to tie that up. I suppose that 13th June would count as mid June but the longer it drags on the more I worry that his heads been turned.

Plus, the Scottish transfer window doesn't actually open until 9th June though I appreciate you can get contracts signed but just can't register the player until after the window is open.
Maybe we've got a deal or two completed but are waiting until they are registered before announcing them. Even if we haven't, I trust Lennon, Leeann and George to do a good job this window just like they did in January.

AV would be serious competition for the others. Hopefully making sure Celtic or Sevco don't lowball us as usual.
After all the media's planning, scheming and Celtic's will-they-won't-they procrastination would LOVE to see them lose out or having to pay a full 4 or 5 mill for SJM.

AV currently facing administration and relying on loans from an absentee owner who, allegedly, is unable to pay their tax bills because he can't get his money out of China.
Why would SJM go there? Why would Hibs accept a fee that may never be paid?

I read in The Times this morning that AV still owe about £11M for transfers in previous seasons. More likely that the FA will be looking at a transfer ban until they've paid what they're due to other clubs, surely?

Honestly CWG his writing style doesn't bother me - I know its unusual but I am more interested in the content and despite claims to the contrary a good deal of what he says actually does come to pass although it may take time. With regard to Michael Johnston, BR may simply be looking at another option, doesn't mean we definitely won't get him on loan - as usual oor Rod and LD will be fighting our corner well....

it is only a good deal if we get the right money for McGinn and importantly don't get stiffed for Scott Allan who in the last 6 seasons has only played 72 matches if you don't count his brief spells at Hibs. In those 72 matches he has been mainly guff. Celtic want rid of him. All things considered we should not be taking Scott as a large part of the McGinn transfer. Scott is a great player in a team that is on top but ineffective in a team up against it like Dundee were last season. There is a risk that he could struggle in a team without McGinn and McGeouch doing their thing.

He is the best fit for our current midfield but the loss of the 2 McG's could be a game changer for the midfield if we don't get the right guys in.
Obviously Lennon will know this and will be putting a plan in place but it will be a challenge.
To be clear I want us to sign him but don't want Celtic to take advantage of our enthusiasm to get Scott.
FWIW i think we will get Kamberi for certain, the cat says we will get Mallen which is good enough for me, and i think we will get Scott Allan.

Our German based Hibees will know better, however with Gerrard, Rodgers and Lennon competing together next season there will be more buzz around Scottish football next season in particular and probably a wider media exposure. I'm not sure how much media (beyond Germany) the second tier of their football gets, although I'd imagine the standard is still high even in their lower league.
It may be in Darmstadt's interests for Jamie to come to us on a full season loan and then they can 'cash in' if he has a good season with us and continues with his fine scoring rate (as I think he'd have another year to run on his German contract). We may have to pay more of his wage...........but that's what I would be considering.
Mind knowing our luck Jamie will rattle in a couple of belters in the World Cup and have loads of potential suitors thereafter :boo hoo:

Scott is a great player in a team that is on top but ineffective in a team up against it like Dundee were last season. There is a risk that he could struggle in a team without McGinn and McGeouch doing their thing.
He did fine, much more than fine in fact, with liam craig and scott robertson the first time round

Why the confusion?
That was a stick on.
Why was it a stick on for them wanting him back? Were they not rumoured to be punting him if they went down? Player on a decent wage who didn't seem to be in their plans.
I'd be surprised if he is with them come new season.

No, there was no such rumour. He had a clause in his contract that he'd be released/sold if they went down.
He's done well with us and is now in the Aussie WC squad.
Of course they would want him back to start preseason training. If they like what they see, they'll keep him, if they don't, he'll be up for sale.

Don’t see way we should take Michael Johnston on loan as part of any deal for McGinn. We have our own under 20 team who just won the double. Surely we should be given these lads a chance than giving game time and experience to another Scottish team player.

There is no doubt that Scott Allan is a very good attacking midfielder and playmaker.
The worry is that IF we lose both SJM and DM we may not have the same type of control of enough good ball to allow him to influence games.

Anyone else getting gloating Jambos boasting about signings? I just had the pet office Jambo asking me if I wanted him to go round at the weekend and see if he could rustle us up some players. He scuttled back under his rock when I told him that free transfer bench warmers from relegated Partick Thistle was nothing to boast about. I also asked him what happened the last time they signed 10 players at once, mumbled some pish about Cathro and walked away.

Tell them to bolt for that kimd of offer. Much rather try and get £3-£4 million down south and then do a deal for Allan.
Allan is in the same boat as Ciftci where he is not wanted at celtic and they would rather have him off the wage bill. We need to make as much cash as possible.
If Allan was indemand at celtic I can understand a high valuation of him, but this is celtic just trying to get SJM on the cheap and expecting a scottish club to bite their hand off for a couple of million.
We are not desperate for the cash thanks to our well run club so we should brave and hold out for a better deal and then go to celtic and do a deal for allan even if we have to pay £500k.

If it's common knowledge hibs sell sjm down south for north of say,£3m, why wouldn't Celtic just demand a high fee for Allan?
They know we want him. They know we've just had a cash windfall. As far as they are concerned, he's costing them very little in wages so can sit in the stand all year round.
I don't think hibs are in a position to accept a large transfer, give a third of it to the buddies, and then potentially be bent over a barrel for Scott. I think Celtic would be difficult to deal with if he's not incorporated into a sjm deal.
Celtic hold all the cards when it comes to SA and it's no surprise they're using him as a makeweight in any potential McGinn deal, common sense to do so. Rumours that the deals already done, but I'd rather see him test himself down south.

I still think they bought Allan just to piss off Sevco, Allan just hasn't worked out for them and won't be on huge wages, Rodgers mentioned in an interview that he was a good lad and sometimes certain players seem to fit at certain clubs. They have an abundance of midfielders so Allan will be excess to their needs, they'll want him off their books and will also know that we can still give them a good challenge without Allan in our team.

I agree in parts that they brought in Allan to annoy the Rangers. They were probably hoping he'd have more of a playing impact at Celtic than be actually did. Id be pleasantly surprised if they are easy to deal on Scott if they don't get McGinn. Hopefully we'll see Allan lining up for us in the Europa league soon, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's a long drawn out affair.

Also, with Allan in our team we may continue to regularly take points off The Rangers thus weakening the so-called challenge from the other side of Glasgow. It doesn't necessarily suit Celtic to keep everyone else in the league weak...

I think celtic would hold all the cards if SA had even a small glimpse of a future there. I understand celtic may be a nightmare to deal with if we don’t play ball but I think £2 million and SA is selling ourselves short.
They signed brown from us for £4.4 million and that has turned out to be the best bit of business they have ever done. SJM is in a similar position at the moment.
Celtic sign players for a few million, give them a few games in the SPL and champions league and the English clubs suddenly realise they have pedigree and figures of £10-20 million are banded around. Now I am not saying SJM is worth those sort of figures-not in the slightest, but SJM is at a similar level to Scott brown when he was here-Scotland caps etc, and I just think £2 million plus a player celtic don’t rate isn’t a great deal for hibs.
If it was £3 million, SA and a loan player I think that would be a good deal. Or £4 million down south, offer celtic £500k-which I’m sure they would accept and we are still better off. Celtic would not turn down an offer for SA given they have made their feelings known regarding his situation. Either way we are still better off financially.
I suppose whatever if we end up at, i trust LD, RP and Lennon to have brokered the best deal for us.

Totally agree with your last sentence👍 the clubs is in good hands.
I don't think McGinn/brown transfers can be compared as they're over 10 years apart and, correct me if I'm wrong, brown had a lot more time to run on his hibs deal? I think £3m and Scott Allan would be a good deal, I'd prefer a larger fee and sell on clause down south but we will see what comes to pass.

He said the opposite to me at the sponsors evening.
Obviously he doesn't know his own mind then and is still unsure what he wants and where he wants to go to, if it be Celtic we must ensure it's for the right money and not get shafted by them, especially if clubs down south start bidding.

I think a lot of people are forgetting that McGinn has little interest in going to Celtic, he sees his career down south with a bigger challenge down there, Celtic is an easy option for someone like John but having spoken to him a few times, he wants to challenge himself against top opposition down south.
Just cause SJM says he doesn’t want to sign for Celtic doesn’t necessarily make it true. Rumours I’ve heard is that from his family he’s desperate to sign for them. Family is supposed to support Celtic and rumour I was told he had a great uncle or great grandad someone like that who used to be on the Celtic board. Celtic are in the family blood by all accounts.
Will he go there? I don’t know, but person who told me this seems to think his family are desperate for him to sign and several memebers of the family are season ticket holders at Parkhead. Again not sure if true or not just passing on what I was informed.

Even getting into Celtic's central midfield would be immensely difficult, never mind keeping a place there.

NEIL LENNON is plotting a summer swoop for Dunfermline defender Ryan Williamson.
The 22-year-old caught the eye of the Hibs boss with his performances for the Championship side last season.
And the Easter Road club are now trying to put together a package that will tempt the Fifers to do business.
Dunfermline want at least £100,000 compensation for the right back, who has a year left of his contract to run.
That figure has already scared off Dundee United, who have already raided their rivals for Fraser Aird and Nicky Clark.

I think SJM will (rightly) back himself wherever he goes so I can't imagine he would make a decision based on one club having a particularly good midfield. If he's going to make it at the top level he's going to have to dislodge good players regardless anyway.
In terms of England, players go from Celtic to a good level down South all the time. It's a great place to get Champions League exposure and a bigger move would come his way if he earns it.
I'm not desperate for him to go to Celtic BTW, I just think imagining SJM is going to automatically dismiss a move west and go to the English Championship instead is probably wishful thinking.

I posted about us going for RW a few weeks ago and he would be a terrific signing. Loads of potential, marauding full back who would compliment the wide men like Boyle excellently. He also has a very good assist record when it comes to goals and creating chances for strikers. Think this one will happen :aok:

Only if the conversation had gone that way, it was a good 30 minute convo with a coffee, it was general football talk and moving on was just part of it, he said he fancied the EPL and playing against top players down there, this was at the start of the season so he may have changed his mind by now. I mentioned Celtic as it was his club as a boy but he emphasised he wanted to go south, a season is a long time in football and as I've said he may have had 2nd thoughts on that.

The only thing sjm has said is he is happy to stay another year and will only move if the deal suits both parties. One stumbling block if Allan is part of the deal is do St mirren get a quarter of the fee or a quarter of the fee which includes Allan's value. Fwiw my info it's 25% St mirren are due. I've a feeling sjm will be here till the end of our European campaign and if that means he stay here until at least January so be it. I'd rather have him for a season than haggle over the fee. If we have Allan, sjm, slivka, Marvin, Marvin and malan fighting for midfield spots we have a damn good side. IMHO of course.

Brilliant driving forward in possession, iffy final ball and a bit suspect defensively. Huge potential though and tbh he's always stood out as a player I'd have wanted Hibs to be in for.

He's only got one firm on the table and thats from us so he may very well stay. It's clear Dylan has an affection for the Club and supporters and we have stood by him The Club have upped their offer several times and to date he hasn't signed If we keep offering him more the wage structure goes out the window He has a final offer on the table so it's up to him to accept it or move on We need to know who is going, to plan ahead properly and decide which new targets are our priority especially if Lennon is targeting the group stages of European Football
Mcginn will also want St Mirren to do well out of his move which is why I am surprised he hasn't signed a new deal even if he still moves on at the end of the Season

If that was the 5-5 game, then I'm not sure any defenders were shown in their best light...
Plymouth will have some more money to spend after going up to League One but look at the guys in their squad that have played up here - Gregg Wylde, Jamie Ness, Lionel Ainsworth, Graham Carey, Yann Songo'o & Kyle Letheren. Not exactly top drawer and surely not on big wages.
Certainly not an Efe class club.
I think the big man will be with us next season.

Plymouth stayed in League 1 last year. All the non premier league teams benefit from an increased TV deal from season 2019 though. Big bucks, which unless we get better, will mean another flow of players from Scotland, to Championship and below clubs
They’ll get £600m over 5 years. Think the Scottish deal is currently worth less than £19m per season

It's not a case of fixing one thing and I'd be shocked (and to be fair awe inspired) if that's all sorted out next week.
I'll be happy if even 2 of the above are resolved.
