Just what I was thinking. I know the name not nothing about his style of play, goal scoring record etc. Hoping if he does join McLaren is still a possibility but doubt it.

Going by memory he used to score goals regularly in the championship. Not sure how he’s been doing recently.

We do not need center backs. ''If Hanlon and McGregor are out''????
What if they aren't out and these new center backs have to sit on the bench all season? Efe, Hanlon, Daz and Porteous is more than enough. Whittaker is not going to be playing center back in games that matter.

Next thing we know Reyes will sign as well!!
In all seriousness, I can only see us signing one of ALF or Jamie Mac. Very similar players, Getting both would give us great options upfront!!

LENNY'S FOND Hibs boss Neil Lennon weighs up move for Bolton striker Adam Le Fondre

HIBS boss Neil Lennon is weighing up a move for Bolton attacker Adam Le Fondre.
The 31-year-old previously worked with him during the Northern Irishman’s stint at the Macron Stadium in 2015.
Adam Le Fondre is wanted by Hibs
Lenny is looking to bolster his attacking options following the exits of Simon Murray and loan star Jamie Maclaren.
Former Reading, Cardiff and Wolves hitman Le Fondre scored seven times in 38 appearances last season.
And he would add huge experience to the Hibees frontline, with only Flo Kamberi and Oli Shaw as the club’s recognised strikers.

I remember him being an absolute goal machine a couple of years ago. A lot of folk on here, including myself, were desperately hoping we signed him when he was at Rochdale/Rotherham.
I’ve not really seen him that much since that prolific period when he was banging in the goals. If we were to get that Adam Le Fondre, I’d be very happy. I’m unsure what he has been like since then.

The link between strikers and midfield was non existent tonight, and that was against fisherman. I’d seriously be pushing the boat out for Allan before next week - he really could make the difference. I know that may sound weird given we scored 12 in two games, but tbh it would have been more with a number 10. Scoring against the Greeks will definitely not be as easy.
I’d make him the priority if we were to only sign one before the tie. A striker would be my second priority, followed by a winger.

We don't need another centre back we need to figure out a formation that works for us with 4 and the back that still allows us to get forward the way 3 5 2 does.
Transfer wise I'd say we need attacking midfielder (called Scott Allan) and defensive ball carrying midfielder to hold the middle and support Allan and Mallan and another striker, they are the absolute must haves.
Ideally another player for the Barker position but if it comes at the expensive of someone top quality filling one of the above, I'd rather not. Similarly a 4th striker as back up is a should have, but not a must have. I'd definitely be looking at all of the above way before I started considering centre backs unless someone moves on.

I agree, 3 at the back seems to be the way right now as it allows 2 strikers up top but I'm a fan of 4-3-3 which allows that same freedom of attack.

Why? Blackpoolhibs and a couple others reply to plenty of my posts with the exact same counter arguement every time yet nobody has an issue with them repeating themselves. The real problem is that there’s posters on here who can’t deal with somebody questioning what’s going on rather than blindly happy clapping their way into a European exit. Having a different opinion to the clique is frowned upon.
Anyway, as I’ve said previously, put me on your ignore list. You can then enjoy Hibs.net in happy clapping bliss.
Your constant negativity is boring. There's no need to to post about how you feel we are not ready 20 times a day.
I don't think anyone is denying the fact we need more players in, you'd have to be blind not to see that. However what I and many others are confident in is the ability of this board and this management team to get the targets they're after. Signing players for the sake of it - Hearts this year, Rangers last year, us January 2012 - has been proven time and time again to get you nowhere.
My faith in the management to get the targets in the door is not changed by either last nights result or the news of targets not coming in.

We all know we need some fresh blood but I’d much rather we wait and get quality players who are registered in time to play for us.
We have signed permanent deals for our 2 main targets and that is a fantastic bit of business - yes we shipped 4 goals but missing 2 centre half’s?
Let’s be positive. We got through, we have a big game under the lights on Thursday whilst hearts are sweating over if they’re still in the league cup (55 and counting)
Hibs prepare for every transfer window well in advance so signings will happen. We as fans have to be patient.

Pretty much where I'm at, 2 quality recruits so far, early days for Bogdan, few more signings of a good calibare and we'll do at least as well as we done last year, potentially better of course.

I think we all agree that opinions are what makes message boards interesting. However, during the World Cup almost all of us got fed up with one pundit due to his constant negativity and whinging. If he did make a decent point I didn’t hear it as it was lost among his constant moaning and repeating himself. Others were bad but he was the worst by a long shot. Some folk said to switch the volume off but it means you miss out on the thread. Telling others to put you on ignore isn’t the solution, being more balanced is. Be careful you don’t become the Mark Lawrenson of Hibs.net

Apart from him having bags of experience and being awesome at killie last season

He's not top of my list of potential signings but I think most people are basing their opinions on more than a brief look at Wikipedia. He played very well in a resurgent Kilmarnock team last season and was seen as one a key factors in their turn around.

didnt realise that, probably an agreement so that he would actually sign a longer contract, bit gutted with that as he is worth much more
I said at the time Lennon was helping him get his visa and he'd be away after a year, get him for nowt and make a wee bit when he goes.
What makes you feel like you're entitled to know what's going on, and why on earth would you think you'd find it on here?
Couldn't care about your opinion, you're entitled but it seems to be that you're opinion is "I'm worried, tell me what's happening", no one can give you what your opinion demands.

Le Fondre is a bit like Hooper imo. He's a very good wee poacher and will get you goals when he's on the park. Didn't he have a ridiculous record for reading where he scored about 7 or 8 times in a row from the bench?
:agree: Had a knack of coming off the bench to score goals - all equalizers or winners too. He doesn't do much other than score, but it was his goals that won Reading the Championship in 2012.
I'm surprised he's only 31 too.

My only issue with Adam Le Fondre is that he takes the same path as Chris Dagnall. He scored barry loads down south, but never really cut the mustard up here.

They are coming from two completely different levels though. AlF would be coming from Reading and played for teams like Bolton. Dagnall was non league and a speculative punt.

Tranmere, Rochdale, S****horpe, Barnsley, Bradford, Leyton Orient ( non league now but not then ), not too many non league teams there. He signed from Kerala Blasters in India.

Wasn't my point, Ian Cruise said we took Dagnall from non league but he'd regularly played league 1 for a good few years. I'd take ALF in a heart beat, a proven striker at a good level.

What's wrong with Bartley for next week? (I thought he was poor last night but if fit and available no problem with him taking his space).
I thought for someone who wants to be playing more he should have been more 'professional' last night.. .maybe with the ease of the tie etc he was a bit casual/trying too much.
He's still something to offer us when we need his type :agree:

I don't think he's a holding midfielder.
A holding midfielder needs to be the one that takes the ball in and dictates the play.
Bartley is a defensive midfielder and an absolute battering ram of one at that, i don't think i'm doing him a dis-service by suggesting he's not a terrific footballer though.
That's my interpretation of a holding midfielder anyway.

Might just be as simple as age catching up with him. He's just turned 32 and they said last night this will be his 4th season with us, the position he plays is a very demanding role and requires a lot of energy and physicality, it couldn't last forever.
As has also been said his position is also a lot easier when he has a Dylan Mcgeouch or a Scott Allan beside him demanding the ball off him at every opportunity.

Australia’s Fox Sports are quoting an agent for Mark Milligan...who played at the World Cup for Australia...as saying that there had been ‘an approach’ from Hibs, but Milligan had turned it down as he wants to go to England.
Seems strange to me as the ‘utility’ player turns 33 next month and is nearing the end of his career.
He’s currently without a club having played in the Middle East for most of last season.
Apparently he’s in discussions with Bolton, but isn’t happy with the money that they offered.
AS I say, I would be surprised if Hibs WERE interested in signing him....a few years ago, may have been an option, but not now...

I think he has really struggled with the jump up. He’s looked lost at times in the big games.
Hibs legend, but not good enough if we want to go the next level.
I totally disagree.
Since he joined us he's been consistently excellent in our biggest games. If he has a fault it is his inability to provide enough of an attacking threat against weaker teams.
He was rubbish last night, but so were most of the team, and I've never been convinced by him in a game when we play three centre-halves.

He has massive limitations. Maybe a bit harsh on him.
Thought he was lost against Celtic a couple of times. Especially the semi final. The games at Tynie we never won when he was playing or won when he wasn’t. Beat the Huns at ibrox with him and without him and beat Hearts at home with him and without him.
Just think we should look for someone better.

The guy did score goals here in Scotland - 87 in 194 games is a pretty good ratio!
Salford must be splashing some cash.
Maybe Graham Alexander like Jack Ross using some Scottish connections ??

However, the Anfield club are insisting he plays first team football, with Bristol City hit with a £500,000 bill for failing to play Kent every week during a loan spell last season. (Sun) (https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/6821047/steven-gerrard-liverpool-rangers-blackburn-ryan-kent/)"
Not sure I would be happy to sign a player we had to play every week. I know of one club who got two players from a then English Premiership club. They also had a deal which meant they had to be played. One of the players often called friends on his mobile at half time which meant he never took part in half time discussions. They had a lot of trouble getting rid of him as the parent club initially refused to acknowledge it.On a separate note it hopefully means they are no longer interested in Barker

Just saying that he’s not a major loss if not playing. I don’t think he has a major influence on the result.

Liverpool do that with all their loanees. That is why Celtic pulled out of taking the lad Wilson. It’s not a great deal. Barker done well for us last season but there is no way we could have guaranteed him a start every week. Sevco are mad for agreeing to this.

Maybe wasnt as suited to the overly physical side of the english championship at Boro. Played with Lampard and David Villa at New York City and seems to have done really well there. Looks like a left footed winger/attacking midfielder.

Fair enough. Left sided winger as has been mentioned, and I am optimistic going by the fact that he was the number 1 draft player in 2016, and City had a desire to bring him over, so maybe I’m being overly harsh on the MLS. Could be good.

Looking at players that follow a similar path to Barker I think it could be Thierry Ambrose.
Forward on loan at NAC Breda last season. Checked and he isn’t away on tour with Man City just now either.
