I have described them as parasites on this thread and others. That is the reason why! They believe they have a god given right to hoover up any young Scottish talent at the lowest price possible and then sell them if they can for huge profit if they can. They also buy others i.e. Scott Allan relatively cheaply and then don't play them. They then moan about lack of competition in Scotland when they get pumped in Europe. My dream for SJM is that he signs for an English club for a fee that we are happy with, goes on to better things and never ever sets foot inside parkhead again.
Well said mate, completely agree.

Lets be honest. They only signed Allan to get one over Rangers and show their dominance over them and in the process took a fans favourite player who was loving his football away from his club by offering him a wage we couldn't compete with. Parasite sums Celtic up perfectly.
Its not a retaliation to anything. £100k would be £100k more than hes worth to Celtic. If rumours of his wage are correct hes currently around a £500k per year drain on their finances with no prospect of that changing. They could pay off him around £250k and wed take him off their hands for him and theyve just saved £250k......which is a lot of money, even if it doesnt seem it in the current market. Scott Allan has absolutely zero value in the transfer market just now as he is of no value at all to Celtic.
Totally agree with you last sentence Bingo!
What I will say though as SA may negotiate his release and become a free agent. He will then sign a 2 year deal (maybe 3) at ER

Bingo
Aforesaid Mr Lawwell would not be doing his job properly for as well as saving a theoretical £500k a year, he did not try to extricate a transfer fee out of a potential suitor, whether he gets one or not.
Or am I just being stupid?

The 10% is pretty standard in all transfers, unless the player has handed in a transfer request, which would result in them forfeiting their cut. So I'd be surprised if all of it was included in whatever share St. Mirren are due.
However it's possible that if St. Mirren are due 33% of the transfer fee they might need to cover 33% of the player's cut. In that case St. Mirren would get 30%, John would get 10% and Hibs would get 60%. Out of a £3.5m transfer that would leave Hibs with £2.1m.

It’s never been confirmed anywhere what the split is. Chick Young spread the 33% story on behalf of his mate (the former St mirren chairman) and RP said it was less than that at the AGM. That could mean 30% of course but no one knows.

More bids the better as another thing to factor into the footballing department is that we are building an indoor pitch which has to be completed (or near completion) by 2020 as part of the East Mains deal. A large portion of any SJM fee undoubtedly would go towards that I would imagine. Spoke with someone last week and the plans sound impressive.

Got to love this place.
With no disrespect to BG (whose info on transfers looks good) I seriously doubt we have a plan to take McGinn off on 70 minutes.
Firstly, I doubt we plan transfers of that kind. Swapping strikers around 70 minutes maybe. But not centre mids.
Secondly, 70 would be a very odd number to choose - if it is his last game and they want a proper applauded off the pitch scenario why not at the end of the game? I mean it's not like the Motherwell hammer throwers are going to save all their thuggery for the 71 - 89 minute part of the match.
It's possible that if the game is going well we'll hold a transfer in reserve to give him applause off the park but it will only happen if we're in charge of the match.

I think any non EU player coming in will take a bit of paperwork. We have seen a few players come to clubs like Man City and immediately to a European team on loan as they can't get a UK work permit.
Think the Home Office are both really tight on this now and really slow to process it. Obviously if it was a well known world class player then it might get fast tracked but strikes me as low priority.
Also, it can still happen after Thursday as English clubs can still sell or loan players up to 31 August.

I don’t believe he already has a work permit. Unlikely to have been granted one as an uncapped 18 year old arriving in the country and has spent the last 3 years in the Netherlands.
:aok: I thought he was a Man City player. Had a quick google and I read the first line that said “it’s complex” before giving up.

If you already have a work permit do you need to apply for a new one to move jobs?
Yes for a footballer moving from England to Scotland.
For the sake of argument lets assume John goes to any club other than Celtic, is there then the possibility that Celtic will have a tantrum & make Hibs life difficult when trying to recruit Scott Allan ?

It’s not a problem.
If Celtic don’t take £175,000 from us now, we’ll just offer them £80,000 in January or take him for nothing next summer.

They just have to accept that every now and then we’ll have a player who can do better than Celtic. If they make life difficult regarding SA then that’s up to them.
Well it will be interesting to see how the SA situation pans out, personally think Jan recruitment is most likely.

There’s ITK posters on here that have grown a reputation for posting things like striker to sign by the end of the week, kamberi to re-sign and mallan to sign, all of which were all pretty obvious, this guy has called a sub to get made pre-match of a player that is never subbed early......on top of that he called the 70th minute, we had a player receiving treatment on the 70th minute mark, as soon as he got the all clear SJM got subbed.

Ambrose went down in the 69th minute, if McGinn was going to be subbed in the 70th minute the player coming on would have been readying himself on the sideline already. He wasn’t.
The fetishisation of apparent ITK posters on here is weird. Regarding the hiwala thing, the interview with sean Dyche after the Eberdeen game the other night was interesting. He was saying that what happens now is all is agreed between the player, club and agent....at that point the selling club and agent both put their feelers out and make it common knowledge of the deal that’s been agreed and gives other clubs the chance to beat the offer. It used to annoy him but he’s had to accept that’s how all deals work now and he’s benefited from it so can’t complain too much.
Even if Bleeds Green is Neil Lennon he could have got that wrong.

I’ve no idea if he had a medical or not, I’m just saying because he never signed doesn’t necessarily mean he wasn’t due to sign, signings fall through at the last minute all the time.
FWIW I remember an itk poster on here before saying medicals were conducted by an independent party, think it was the bupa hospital in murrayfield that’s now called something else. That may have changed since East Mains was built but I don’t think it’s impossible for a medical to be conducted while the staff were in Greece.

This.
First, we're hardly in Nostradamus territory suggesting that our most influential midfielder would be subbed towards the end of the match with an important game looming on Thursday.
Then there's the fact that I seriously doubt any team plans substitutes at that level.
General ideas like swapping the strikers on 65-70 minutes? Maybe.
Pulling a specific player on a specific minute? Not going to happen.
Worse, I'd be somewhat disturbed if we did have plans like that as it would suggest we're not taking the game situation on it's own merits.
Finally, it didn't happen on 70 minutes.
In short the only way McGinn wouldn't have been substituted is if the game was in the balance and that substitution when it came was always most likely to have been somewhere in the 65 - 80 minute mark.
Not to say any other information he's providing is wrong but the substitution thing I'm not buying at all.

He posted there would be a substitution of McGinn and that was always highly likely. He got the timing wrong.
Have people here gone mental or something?
For this to be even considered anything other than just a guess it had to happen bang on the 70th minute.
Even then, with the likely window of a substitution it's probably a 1 in 15 or 20 guess.

Hibs have got one deal all agreed, should be announced either tomorrow or Tuesday at the latest. If all else falls into place we may get one, possibly two others before next weekend.

SJM expected to play on Thursday, could change at last minute if one of the interested clubs increases offer, all a bit up in the air at the moment though.
You’re welcome........
Remember that deals can fail at the last minute for a number of reasons tho 🙄

Why is this being forensically challenged? Normally when ITK stuff is posted everyone pisses their pants even though it’s obvious stuff being posted.
This one is being challenged because folk seem to have lost their marbles.
It's one thing to be impressed by someone posting about a transfer.
It's totally different assuming that a fairly predictable event within a football match that someone said would happen at a specific time (which in fact didn't happen at that time) now backs up everything that person said. This is the sort of **** cults start with. Horse**** of the highest order.

Small thing to look into but didn't notice McGinn prolonging any "goodbye" either when subbed or after the game.

Course he was the only one who posted since when did we start predicting subs? Was 100% going to be subbed if we were winning as he put in some shift both today and on thursday and would be knackered. I said I thought Swanson would come on, doesn’t mean I have any inside knowledge.

Told all my mates who are all ST holders but not on dot net that if SJM gets hooked approx 70 mins it is a sign from Lenny that he is off! They all laughed but their faces when he got hooked as he never gets hooked especially as his last action was to lob their goalie was a picture! They all looked at me as if I was Derren Brown or the Impossible guy or something ! Especially when SJM came on at the end they were expecting him to do a lap of honour and throw his shirt into the crowd and start kissing babes.Brilliant!!:thumbsup:

Sitting here on the west coast, it's hilarious some of the reactions. I'm never in the position of knowing anything that happens behind the scenes (except for a soapy at work who "was speaking to Stokesy" last week about SJM), but if BG suggests there's the possibility of some of these signings coming off then I'll be excited.
If we're getting the band back together, then brilliant (and I'm a Blues Brothers fan)!
On a side note I spoke with Rocky today and he said he's 3-4 weeks away from full fitness!
Bogdan had another good game today so food for thought for NL once Rocky is up to speed!
