Wonder if Bevan will be a permanent?

Having three 20 year old centre half on loan seems a bit odd

Yeah if we look back last year, we went to Tannadice with 2 young inexperienced CBs and they lost us the game.

No matter the potential, young CBs are a risk. We’ve put ourselves in a similar position rather than sign some experience. Not really good enough IMO

Slightly different in that example as Egan Riley wasn’t really a centre half but I agree with the general point.

For all the talk about tactics etc, it’s the really soft, basic goals that we lose that is the biggest issue. If we don’t stop that, we’ll continue to struggle. Big ask for some pretty untested players to come in and change that.

We have brought in a guy who was a key part of Monty winning a title last season! That's tested and passed! Let's see how he does here 😁

Not tested in our league. Look at the time it took Lewis Miller to adapt, and some would argue he’s still short of where he needs to be.

Not writing him off at all, I just thought going in to the window that an experienced, proven centre back would have been a certainty.

Fish is miles off the levels kerr was at with st Johnstone. Kerr much more of a leader and aggressive. Fish gets bullied as easy as Hanlon does.

Fish is rated at Man Utd and is being linked with big championship clubs. McCart was as good as Kerr in that team and well he's not that good either.

You limit our options somewhat with the category of played in Scotland, available to loan or buy, experienced and good on the ball to play our style.

Not fussed about them having played in Scotland, but a more comparative league than the A-League. Competent enough on the ball would suffice. Darren McGregor was never brilliant on the ball despite the song, but I think we’re desperate for someone who is just willing to Do whatever it takes to keep the ball out of the net. Hopefully the two coming in make us better at doing that.

It’s good to have decent depth whether they are in the squad or not.

This lads on loan so almost risk free.

Wouldn’t surprise me if the Bevan deal was officially completed before we got word that Triantis was available again so ended up with both.

Still, with Hanlon getting on in age and picking up niggling injuries here and there, it could be a good problem to have. Paul’s done quite enough playing through injury with injections and the like during his career.

The one thing he always had at Aberdeen was a really good midfielder. Not sure he has that at Killie. Also, I think their goalie is a bit shonky. His teams are always solid, well drilled and great work ethic. The problem he has is that those things might be okay in the short term, but if a club are looking at long term growth, as we are, and trying to increase player value over a period of time, then that style has its limitations. There is a definite ceiling for players in a McInnes team unless they're a total standout. Lewis Ferguson being the obvious one.

Could he maybe go on loan? Don't think it would do any harm for him to play a bit more and see what he can do.

They couldn't sell him in this window, they just couldn't. One man team, by and large. They have third pretty much in the bag with Shankland there, imagine if they sold him and tumbled down the table? It would be season tickets and scarves on the pitch at Tiny, and quite rightly so tbh. He'll hopefully go to the Euros in the summer, score some great goals for Scotland and move on then. Or...he picks up one niggling injury after another for the remainder of his contract and leaves on a free. That would be nice.

See again that’s something I think is a bit of a myth, over his time there he must have brought in a decent amount of money and developed players which got them good moves.

Ryan Jack, Scott McKenna, Scott Wright, Sam Cosgrove, Lewis Ferguson, Graeme Shinnie, Kenny McLean,

Then a couple of really good loans like Maddison, Christie, Ward and Hector which really helped their careers.

This is so important in the system NM wants to play. If we have a CB that can stroll out of defence with the ball, and hit accurate passes, it helps move the whole team 20 yards up the pitch. Also takes the pressure off our much maligned midfield.

Its been the best window for Hibs for years. Not sure what you expected.

exactly - and not sure how marcondes and maolida can be described as punts given what they have shown in their performance against killie - obvious class above what we have but because we haven't signed an old fashioned no 9 type which myth tells us we need in the Scottish game then folk are still being critical of the club. Van Even was playing for Scunthorpe I think before he went to Motherwell and think they were in the conference at the time. if we'd taken a punt on him then, the same poster would have been critical of that too!

the manager now has players in who fit his system. its clear all of the new players have made ref to the style of play as being important in their decision to come here, along with the demands that they are comfortable and confident on the ball. I really think this window couldn't have gone much better - every area the fans had noted as priority has been attended to and come the summer I think we'll see further strengthening of the defence at full back too. reckon we'll be moving quite a few on...

Great January. Hopefully monty learns how to change things up

Totally get your point. But I think the signings this window are all signed because they’ll be able to play Montgomerys style better than what we had.

So Hibs fans out there.
With fewer than 90 minutes left in this window and one space left to fill would you sign a defender, a midfielder or an attacker?

He’s pulling pissers.

I bet there’s no more and he’s trying to get us all hyped.

Not rated at all by Swansea fans

Hardly surprising, scored one goal and barely been fit. Just checked his career stats, 66 games as a pro, 10 goals in total, five of them for us in fifteen games. He's a good footballer, and physically a very athletic guy, and sometimes big young guys pick up lots of injuries until they fully mature, but his injury record is a bit of a horror show. Someone might win a watch with him one day, but prefer if it wasn't us that took the gamble.

Getting Kevin van Veen on board is absolutely massive for Kilmarnock.
A brilliant piece of business by Derek McInnes and the club. So prolific, so cultured and just looks like a good guy to have around the place.
Hugely exciting for the fans. Deal of the window in Scotland.

I'm gutted now

Am I the only one that doesn't think Van Veen would be the right signing for us?

He had a purple patch for a while but generally hit and miss, more miss than hit to be honest?

If we sign Myko that’s some amount of talent and depth we’ve added.

3 strikers
2 midfielders
2 defenders

Recalled Megwa.

Players that have left will have no impact on the team.

Key players in ALF, Cadden etc coming back from injury

It's the deal of the window in the inbred, closed shop that is Scottish football. Marcondes is the deal of the window, hands down.

It's the deal everyone recognises the name of anyway, a lot of pressure for him to even get near last season's form which think was his only good season in his career

Imagine he will do alright but be plenty other signing from this window that are better (hopefully all of ours)
