Has he not been playing regularly for their B team?
Played 6 times for the ‘B team’ this season from the looks of things. Played half an hour since Christmas time. Appears to have been available though.

Our friend Scott Burns 👀 says this.
Has been one of Nick Montgomery's top defensive targets in this window. Sunderland had knocked back previous approaches from Hibs. A player Montgomery knows well from Central Coast Mariners.

The fact people still refer back to a situation from nearly 40 years ago rather than a more recent example tells its own story. It’s a massive exception rather than the norm.
I don’t think folk realise that pointing out somebody managed to turn things round nearly 40 years ago isn’t proving the point they think it is.
Arteta is a good more recent example then.
Its the exception because up and down Britain managers get sacked too early all the time.
I don't think a poor performing manager should be given time just for the sake of it, but there's definitely something to be said for a bit of stability - especially if a manager has a long term plan for the team that he can build towards.

Like the sound of that. Big guy and an athlete
6 foot 3 and can play a few positions according to transfermarkt. Wonder if we are after him is Bevan still a target too?.

Jamie Borthwick reporting it now
Hibs looking to bring in central defender Nectarios Triantis on loan from Sunderland. Aussie U23 international was with Nick Montgomery at Central Coast Mariners. Latest deadline day news in our live blog 👇
Noticed he also said other signing(s) are possible but defender the priority.
Wonder who else/what position we’d be looking at

Arteta probably is a decent recent example, but for every Arteta there’ll be many more who prove the opposite - managers who have been kept on and there team has been relegated etc.
Aberdeen underperformed under Glass. They sacked him and improved instantly. Hearts let Stendell see out the season and got relegated, we done the same with Butcher. Leicester let Rodgers hang on until late in the season and got relegated, his successor increased their PPG significantly etc.
It’s impossible to say whether managers get sacked too early all the time because we don’t see how they would have done had they been kept on. It’s pure guesswork to suggest otherwise.

We should've been in for Shankland when he went to DU. But so should a lot of teams back then. The talent was obvious.
Give his scoring rate it’s surprising there doesn’t appear to be much of a transfer frenzy surrounding him. What’s putting clubs off?

Is triantis actually any good? Seen a few people say he'd be brilliant? I'm sure we know that the A league can't always be a good judge of quality and not made any impact in the championship? What are people basing him being great off. Not saying he's a bad player btw just curious.

Both right-sided? I guess it offers another option at full-back too - or even a back three if Monty is feeling frisky.
We witnessed Aston Villa deploying a centre-back at right-back at Easter Road in a kind-of 4-4-2, which allowed their left-back to play a big role in absolutely destroying us...

Totally agree with your last paragraph - that's probably where you have to look at more than just results before you sack them - is there a clear plan? Are there real signs that he knows what he's doing? Are the players buying into it? - we don't really know the answers to these unless we're actually part of the everyday workings of the club. Personally I'd still stick with Monty, although I understand why some wouldn't.
On Butcher though - I didn't like his style of play and didn't want him at Hibs, but, his track record showed every club he managed got worse in the short term but the 2 that stuck with him - Motherwell and Inverness - then improved and probably punched above their weight while he was there. Horrible agricultural anti football, but effective. Still glad we sacked him, but I actually think he could have been a decent hearts manager. Quite levein like in his approach.

I'm sorry but if Kerr is away to Aberdeen then that is a complete shambles from Hibs. Will be another one we all claim we didn't want/need for a while until we all come to the realisation we missed out. There are some signings that are just obvious, Hibs recruitment team have a habit of managing to miss what most fans can clearly see.

Good. Anyone out of contract this summer shouldn’t be here next season IMO (I’ll exclude a couple of loan players who I’d be happy to keep but don’t think we will).
Never thought we’d do much that was longer term in this window so please try surprised that we’ve ended up adding two midfielders who will be here beyond the end of the season.
Do think we’re taking a bit of a risk at centre half not getting any experience in though.

Also an enormous and potentially expensive risk given he has played one game in a year and has previously broken down during his rehab. Given how much we were burned by Kyle Magennis maybe club reluctant to take it until he proves his fitness. Also possible they think we can get better.

Not getting at you , but this " knows the league " line gets on my wick.
Celtic have a squad of 30, 7 are scottish and " know the league" , yet they seem to do ok.
I've watched hibs for nearly 50 years and heard this line carted out frequently over that time.
Where has this got us? Average 6th place since inception of premier league, now SPFL.
Suzie, Dirk, Latapy etc never knew the league but they were worth admission money.
We have wasted money on players that knew the league and got relegated .
Personally, I want a successful team on the pitch , I don't care where they are from or if they " know the league"

I don't see the Celtic comparison as valid TBH. They buy multi million pound players who are also in some cases internationals and coming to play in a league where the standard of players they are up against are generally a few levels below them. That makes knowing the league less important IMO.
It's not a deal breaker but for me its definitely a bonus.

He could sign and get injured, we could sign a guy who's young and never been injured and turns out to be miles below the level needed. Daniel Boateng still gives me nightmares.
Any signing has risk attached to it. It's down to the recruitment team to weigh all the different aspects up.

It's a stretch I agree but the fact we want players that know the league had been a reason we have underachieved in my lifetime.
To me , and just my opinion, we have looked to the scottish market to our detriment, while others have looked elsewhere.
Yeh we bring in others, but this " we need to bring in players that know league" is a false economy, as has been shown with our league placings in comparison to our revenue as 3rd-4th placed in size

We’re not going out and signing CL winners/France captains anymore. If we were then I’m sure we’d be accepting of them not knowing the league.

I'm sure plenty players would take that chance if there were significantly increased wages on offer. (Obviously that's unlikely to be the case with Kerr, but it is the general answer to almost any variation of "why would a player do that?")

St Johnstone played a back 4 loads under Tommy Wright. So yeah, he's played in a back 4
It's also not that important IMO. He'll have grown up in youth football typically playing in a back 4 anyway. It's not a major issue for professional CBs to switch between a 3 and a 4. There aren't many specialist back 3 centre backs out there

Ideally yes. But I'd still rather have Kerr there than Rocky or Hanlon. Given we're all just talking in hypotheticals anyway.
A fit Kerr is better than any of our options at right CB.
Tough to comment on the other players linked as I've never seen them. Albeit a 20 year old with limited experience from the A League is not what I was hoping for.
We need a centre half who is better than what we currently have, and ideally, one who can be commanding, motivating and organise the back 4 which typically comes with experience.

If he has signed for them hope he can’t okay on Saturday

1 CB in and another 1 to come in. Both on loan looking for game time, alongside Fish, Hanlon and Rocky.
Surely it's linked to your app and you use smart shop?

If they get the van Veen of last season aye. If they get the van Veen of almost every other season of his career, he’s just a run of the mill striker.

Signing and a half for them.
Great signing for them, wish it was us - exactly what our forward options are missing now Doidge is away.
Triantis looks like he could be a cracker aswell though

If we sign Bevan will we known as the Bevan Boys
Unseen work

Wonder if Bevan will be a permanent?
Having three 20 year old centre half on loan seems a bit odd

Hibs hoping to land the brilliantly named ozzy defender Nectarios Triantis from Sunderland on loan (previously at, you've guessed it Central Coast Mariners). Looking forward to hearing :
There's only one Nectarios Triantis
Hope the media pundits take the same duty of care over the pronouncation of his name as they give to Feeleep Clemong.

Big thumping unit of a defender who wants to win his duels and can also pass a ball, with either foot! I feel faint...

UPDATE: Aberdeen have rejected a bid from Leganes for forward Duk.
It’s understood the LaLiga 2 leaders are considering whether to go back in with an improved offer.

We are but with loans for the time being, longer term will need addressed. But happy with the majority of comings and goings so far

I don't care its a loan, if he helps us get results and play better football and climb the table am happy.

I agree, what I’m meaning is, it does leave us in a very similar position come summer again.

It makes me a wee bit nervous, especially with Whittaker (16), Megwa (19) and Miller (23) at RB.
I'd have liked one more experienced CB in their prime but experience wise we have Stevenson, Hanlon and Marshall to even it out!

Much easier put into action a long term plan then... and we'll be filthy rich come summer

Still think we will replace Doidge, big center forward. We have no plan B without a big target man

I think this is the plan. I'm really looking forward to the summer window. Speaking logistically and in terms of training, not being in European competition next season may be a blessing in disguise.

I'm really interested to see how NM chooses to use Cadden, if he does. How long does he have left on his contract?

Dunno why but I thought Cadden was a good few years older than he actually is, he's only 27.
