Playground nicknames for politicians you don't like comes a cross as childish and petty regardless of affiliation imo.
I've always thought simply calling the prime minister "Johnson" shows the most contempt anyway.
Why, I have called all PMs in my adult life by their surnames. Thatcher, Blair, Brown, Cameron, May although I think I probably called May, Theresa May as often. Why would calling someone their surname be derogatory. Everything I have said in the sentences surrounding their surnames would most likely be derogatory as there simply hasn't been a good PM of the UK for many decades.

I do think that him convincing the British public to refer to him as Boris is part of his PR scheme.
I always refer to him as Johnson. Just like I refer to Major, Blair, Brown, Cameron, etc.
He wants to be cuddly bumbling Boris. Don’t fall for it.

I do believe the correct terms Doris. He is being utterly destroyed daily on social media. The days of papers and TV deciding elections are numbered. The cost of living crisis is now the bigger scandal. Remember he said inflation wasn't a problem. Heading towards the worst since 1992 since guess what the tories were in charge. Better on the economy. Oh ma sides.

The reason that Johnson is likely to be kept on for a while is that the PM has to take on the problems of inflation and Brexit. It may suit any potential successor to wait a while so that Johnson gets the blame for the coming difficulties. They'll all be calculating carefully when to strike. We've already seen Sunak carefully keeping his distance from his boss.

She's gone for Thatch style voice deepening coaching as well by the sound of her recently. But not getting any brighter it would seem:
In a gaffe first reported in Russian media, Truss allegedly confused the Russian regions of Voronezh and Rostov with Ukrainian territory, repeatedly telling Lavrov that the UK would never recognise them as sovereign Russian territory. The British ambassador was later forced to step in to correct her, the Russian business daily Kommersant reported.

FFS Rostov on Don and Voronezh are two large and key Russian cities, the Rostov region in particular has become very important economically in recent times.
Now I realise the average person in the UK will know next to nothing of these places but she's the foreign secretary and should be aware of the regions close to Ukraine if that's what you're there to disscuss.

And do we really want a PM that is able to threaten the Met so they don't investigate alleged crimes against him. I, like many others, are obviously unique too as millions of us work from home too. What I can't understand is why that is ok if declared. I actually have no issues with companies going to their MPs when they feel they are being treated poorly by government. Those MPs should either be where the issues are ie the place of work is in their constituency or be a player in the department they have the issue with. No money should change hands just like you wouldn't have to take a credit card with you if you visited an MPs surgery

I received a personal email from Rich Sunak.
Any thoughts on how I respond?
Hello,
My name is Rt Hon Rishi Sunak MP. I am the new Chancellor of the Exchequer (HM Treasury) in the United Kingdom. I am writing you with regards to your stalled funds transfer you have been expecting all these years. Please all correspondences should be sent to: I was specially instructed by the Office of the Prime Minister (Boris Johnson) to embark on a personal review of all long pending and stalled International Transfer Files of all Banks Operating in the United Kingdom, including those at our Offshore Foreign Correspondent Banks in the last government, with a view of redeeming genuine cases of Transfers, and consigning others as bad debt. The office of the new Prime Minister has mandated me to ensure that all genuine claim and transfers are paid.
The Government of the U.K took this major step in addressing these problems of all stalled transfers as a result of the global financial crisis that has affected banks by establishing the HM Treasury Debt office to take over payment responsibility on behalf of all banks operating in the UK. The creation of the HM Debt office consolidates debt management functions by the new Prime Minister as a result of the global financial melt-down for ensuring proper coordination of all payments emanating for the U.K. The HM Debt office centralizes and coordinates the country's debt recording and management activities, including debt service forecasts; transfers payments; and advising on debt negotiations as well as new borrowings. It also provides for the establishment of a supervisory board that has oversight functions on all banks operating in the UK as well as endorsement of strategic thrusts and policies for the organization, consistent with the broad policy objectives of government.! !
Your transfer file came to my attention just this morning, and I was compelled to take special interest in your transfer because of its peculiar history of procedural inconsistencies and unauthorized payment approval documents that are contained in your file.
Consequently, I have this morning ordered the heads of all the relevant Government Departments genuinely involved in the foreign transfer protocol and the Bank to suspend all further action on your transfer pending conclusion of my personal investigation into the actual reasons why your transfer has failed to date. Official memos have been issued to the relevant departments. However, preliminary evidence shows clearly that some fraudulent persons have taken advantage your stalled transfer and have been extorting monies from you through concocted excuses and lies, only for them to divert the monies collected from you to their private pockets and return back to demand more monies from you endlessly. Please you should not allow yourself to be deceived and extorted anymore. As Chancellor of the Exchequer (HM Treasury) in the United Kingdom, I want to assure you that your transfer will now be processed through the simple, transparent and authoritative means where you will not be ! ! required to pay any unauthorized
Please discontinue any form of contact with all those you have been dealing with before now, no matter the nature of your relationship with any of these crooks, including your local attorney. My intention is to quickly reactivate and sort out your transfer without any distraction. Reply immediately to acknowledge this advice, and I will instruct you further.
Regards,
Rt Hon Rishi Sunak MP
Chancellor of the Exchequer

Chinese Impact on UK Economy
You may be surprised to learn how much impact China has on the UK economy.
In May 2021, a report from The Sunday Times revealed that Chinese investors built a portfolio of UK businesses and property worth almost £135 billion.
This has been the case for several years. Back in 2019, there were around 800 Chinese companies in the UK, which employed a whopping 71,000 people. [/Their revenue was equally colossal, totalling £91 billion.
Comparing this to 2018, it’s clear that more and more Chinese investors are choosing the UK for their money.
In 2018, Chinese companies in the UK earned a still sizeable £68 billion, but it is substantially less than 2019’s figures.Likewise, in 2018, Chinese companies employed 62,000 people, which is 9,000 less than in 2019.
These stats show a consistent growth of Chinese investment in UK (https://www.rw-invest.com/uk/chinese-investment-in-uk-to-increase-after-regulations-relax/)areas from Chinese investors.

If it was about low standards then they would just change the entry requirements for courses. This allows them to keep poorer kids who need loans out while allowing richer kids just to fund themselves even though they don’t have the marks either.

Many of the jobs are still there just privatised using very expensive Agency workers and consultants. In my experience when a Public service starts to modernise it usually results in systems that don't work for staff, massive increases in cost and reduction in standards with the public usually having to do or pay more and wait longer. Great way to shuffle money from Public to Private funds though. That is where all the money has gone - to the mates of the Government.

There are a whole lot of reasons why you can’t shut a bank down overnight.
The US and EU seem to agree and UK is doing likewise.

I’m watching Truss’ press conference with the Lithuanian foreign minister. I’m trying to watch it objectively, give her the benefit of the doubt, but it’s so painfully obvious to anyone with eyes that the Lith counterpart is so much more articulate, impressive and statesmanlike. Like an actual proper politician which this rabble we have in the cabinet just don’t get close to. Even just the way her eyes are darting around makes it clear she’s panicking that she’s about to be found out.

The tories have always attracted self serving incompetents, but I don't think there's ever been a cabinet this full of them in my lifetime.

I can't honestly think of a time in my life where such a dearth of capability, intellect and moral fortitude has been so apparent in government.

Absolutely no question. And, as you allude to, also can’t remember a time in my life where we’ve needed the opposite most.
A very depressing few years in terms of politics.

Johnson will probably be furious about this when he finds out.

It's beginning to look like the ability to repeat three word slogans to an idiot base doesn't prepare you for handling complex international relations at all!

Wonder whether Johnson would wake up with a bullet through his head/umbrella through his leg if he crossed the Russians now, after they and their bots did so much to make him Prime Minister.
