Boring 1st half but England upped a gear and won easily, Wales were poor there's no denying that but they did get there, where have we been since 1998?We were at the last Euros. We also didn't get humped by England and we played them in their own stadium.

Wales have punched well above their weight though. Bale is a huge factor in that. If we'd had him we'd have achieved much more because we've lacked genuine goal scoring talent for years.

I wonder what the people running the game in Scotland and the owners of the clubs are thinking watching this World Cup?

What changes will we see to try and get some of the success that Australia, USA, Wales, Tunisia etc. etc. are getting?

Are we still following the Icelandic model that was so fashionable a couple of years ago? Is it a long term strategy that hasn't borne fruit yet?

Or do we carry on with what we've always done? The world is changing - all these teams with players that are no better than those Scotland have to choose from are streets ahead of us - it must be the coaching. How can the Australian coaches get Jackson Irvine to play better than the Hibs coaches? What do they do differently? What is so wrong in Scotland that Cummings can't get a game for Dundee yet he ends up playing against the World Champions?

England obviously have more players than us - but they are doing something right - they churn out so many great players. Southgate was groomed for the job - who are Scotland training up to be the next manager? I know Scotland got to the last Euros, but I hope we haven't already been left behind. As with everything in life, it's not much fun watching from the sidelines.

With how long the ref had to look at it on field, that says to me he doesn’t think it is a penalty, but felt he had to give it. I wish they’d grow a set and not change their decision every time they’re asked to look at something. Cummings hasn't shown anything that would suggest Dundee made a mistake letting him leave, he hasn't suddenly turned his career round thanks to Australian coaching, he's just found himself lucky to be in the right place at right time when there is a complete absence of quality Australian players, which of course makes them getting out of the group all the more remarkable.

I admit to the fact it was soft but can also see why it was given to though. If the keeper had touched the ball it wasn't a penalty but he didn't and there was contact as Messi was heading it , just imo . There is no doubt the change of country/culture has made Jason a much happier person all round, and again, he has said that publicly on a number of occasions.

And in fact, Jason DOES credit his new club coach’s faith in him as being a big contributing factor in his good form, although he is an Englishman, not an Aussie.

Nothing against Poland, but got to agree with that. Mexico were brilliant last night and so unlucky, they threw everything at that game and scored a brilliant free kick from about 30 yards, which the same player nearly replicated into the opposite top corner minutes later.

At one point there was a real risk they were going to go out of the tournament on yellow cards ... 7 to Poland's 5 ... that was only put to bed by Saudi'e late goal. It was Senegal's fate last time around and an absolutely ridiculous way to decide a teams place in the tournament. How can you use such a system when so many bookings are down to each individual refs opinion over what is or isn't a booking, it could only be fair if the same ref did every game and probably not even then.

They might as well make it the team who had the best fans judged on noise and how colourful they were .. in fact if it was up to me :greengrin
