Think Alloa away, when we lost, was the end for him at Hibs

I remember Kennedy being good for us.
He was excellent in a home game v Falkirk early in Stubbs reign where he put în a string of good crosses but we couldn't score and typically of that time Falkirk scored the winner from a set piece. Older Irish guy was playing up front apologies forgot his name ex Killie ex Doncaster.

No other club seems to have this problem sending loan players back. We really that skint
I think other clubs do have that problem but it doesn't get publicised. Reading certainly had it a few seasons ago with a young guy from Chelsea whose name escapes me and I think it might be what's going on with McNulty.

Celtic will be punting Griffiths the minute this striker deal concludes
Will they be hoping for an English club to come in for him? Would they loan him to us?
They've got a load of games coming up. I doubt they'll ship Griffiths out. Leaves them very light up front. Unless there are more players coming in?

Yup. With the league being so tight I can’t see them letting him go unless it would be the difference between getting another body in to replace him or not.

Maxwell on loan at Hibs for the season.
We want to bring in Bogdan in place of Maxwell.
Only way we can make it happen is if another club take over the Maxwell for the same pro rata loan fee.
If we can't find a suitable club that is willing to take him and he is willing to go to he remains ours for the rest of the season.
I suggested sounding Hearts out given Maxwell is better than all of their 3 keepers and he is already in the area.
Adam Bogdan available last summer and now back at the club but we signed Maxwell on season-long loan which we are now trying to get out of.
Thanks Hecky.

In didn’t mind Kennedy at Hibs. Thought he was a bit under rated if anything.
That said though, in Hearts circumstances, is an inconsistent winger blowing hot and cold really what they need just now?
For where Hearts are I don’t think he looks like a good fit. Also think going toe to toe with Aberdeen for a player probably isn’t the brightest just now, they may get him but it’ll cost them, probably significantly more than he’s worth.
Good point. Sorry if it's already been mentioned..
Kennedy strikes me as being one of many players (particularly common at St. Johnstone over the past 5/6+ years) that seem to thrive being a (sort of) big fish in a small pond, the go-to man for a low lying Premiership side with less pressure from fans, media etc.
Liam Craig being a prime example. Tony Watt another, sh**e at Hearts and yet somehow found the only decent form of his career at Saints for a few months. Davidson couldn’t get a move. Danny Swanson (albeit quite unlucky at us and made a decent career for himself). Stevie May...
Not writing the guy off - and thought he was okay for us too. But Hearts aren't really in the position to take a gamble like that given their current mess. You'd expect Kennedy to prefer Aberdeen where he'll get a bit more time to find his feet at a bigger club as well.

To be fair I have no idea what formation they'll play in their remaining fixtures.
I'm also not sure they'll want to rely on Bayo for a title bid and Europa league games.
If Griffiths leaves I'd guess they'll want more than one striker in during Jan.

Combe reminded bringing Bogdan back, Bogdan was up for coming back - Board wouldn't approve two "first choice" keeper signings...Therefore PH ended up endorsing bringing in a "number 2".

He struggled for form the whole time he was here.[emoji23]
Don’t hold him responsible for us going down. That lies with Petrie, Butcher, Malpas, Thomson and McPake. They were the people who couldn’t put differences aside for the team and were running to the press every two minutes and Petrie was the one who should have stepped in and put a stop to it.
Liam Craig is off the hook for me. Still not very good though.

Liam Craig's contribution to our relegation was to carry out his manager's orders as a good pro should. As he was one of the few who got on with his job and didn't question Butcher he found himself with the captaincy, a role that wasn't all that natural to him at that stage and one that stuck him right in the firing line.
I really feel for Liam Craig when it comes to Hibs. He's had an excellent career and done well when played in his best position but found himself at Hibs at totally the wrong time, surrounded by totally the wrong people.
We should show him a bit of gratitude for the role he played in Stubbs' first season, where a team that was dying on its arse following a quite horrific relegation managed to change into a watchable team that gave us back a bit of pride and a few cracking results and performances along the way, and the foundation upon which our Scottish Cup win was built.

Gilmour is a deep lying playmaker or a number 8 so he isn't similar to Allan/Mallan. He's a bit like Jorginho/Fabregas/Modric. I think it's unlikely he comes to us although Mason Mount did have a season at Vitesse who aren't any bigger than we are so you never know. He's a fantastic talent how he would get on with the brute force up here would be a worry but ability wise he's on another level.

Thankfully the club arent as defeatist as this. The standard of player available to us in Scotland/England is in general honking, we can't afford the better younger ones usually and for every Scott Allan you get three who are ordinary to piss poor.
The huns and Celtic are shopping in markets that pay less. Morelos for instance was in Finland. If a Finnish team can scout and pick him up then so can Hibs. If you look at the Belgium/Norwegian league they're full of Africans/South Americans etc. It's just laziness and the usual Scottish parochialism to say otherwise.
Mathie seems to be hinting in his interviews we'll be going down a different path in future.

Yeah he's really highly rated, he would be in the top 10 prospects in the world for his age I'd imagine or not far off it. I think you're right about the championship. Chelsea have another youngster at Charlton atm who's tearing it up and Gilmour is considered to be a far superior talent to Gallagher. The championship has changed a lot recently as well, it used to be 10 bouncers and a goalie but now teams play on the deck and have more natural footballers. I could see him interesting Bielsa.

That makes sense right enough. Here’s a defender who’s legs are done that we don’t want for your most exciting player that you depend on to avoid relegation

We def should. The English market is far too expensive nowadays and is poor value for money. Teams with far smaller budgets than us are doing great in Europa cup so we need to look at what they are doing.

Seems to be in a comparable league, played lots in the past but only 5 games this season so is out of favour, looks like a strong presence with a bit of composure about him in the middle of the park which is almost word for word what I would say we lack right now.

Franklin Wadja has played 90 games, a few months short of his 25th birthday, mostly in the French second division with 25 in the French 5th tier.
Compare that with Ollie Shaw who's played 70 games, just before his 22nd birthday, 24 of which were in the Scottish 4th tier and the remainder split between the Scottish 1st and 2nd tiers.
Similar stats, albeit in different positions.
Interesting one!

I would have offered Shaw on loan to St Johnstone for 6 months in exchange for getting Kennedy now. St Johnstone are lacking a striker and the nominal fee they get won’t go very far in getting that, I think Shaw will give a good goals return if given a decent run.
Giving him to County/Kilmarnock could be risky as they’re close to us in the league, I’d imagine we have a quality replacement lined up though.

It’s been obvious since the first ball was kicked this season we needed a defensive midfielder, this game on Sunday is exactly the sort of game we’d need one.

Huge game yes, but trying for 4th is achievable and what we should be striving for regardless. Loads of football to be played and a bit bemused some think 'season over' because it's a cup game. Plenty of football still to be played and enjoyed. I'm just liking the Jack Ross and John Potter effect around the club. Daz, Porto or Hanlon will handle Shankland.
McMullan is a good player who will cause us problems and I like the guy Harkes in the middle too, good ball playing centre mid.
They’re undoubtedly playing really well, but the league is nowhere as strong as when us, Rangers and Hearts were in it.
They’ll come out full of confidence and attacking, we will counter them twice in quick succession giving us the lead.

McMullan has been injured recently, think he missed the Thistle game. He may be fit for the weekend but will have been out for a few weeks.
Harkes also been injured. Their first choice left back Robson is also now injured, plus Butcher and Clark. So possibly 5 first choice players missing.

Strange. Its similar to when they tried to compete with us for the league. Everyone was saying their star player (andreu) was who we should've signed, they had the momentum, they were confident. They're still in that league :faf:
I feel like a few people said that, once, and you are exaggerating to make a point.
I do remember the bed wetters out in force that one week Dundee Utd went above us in the league, but we are not all bed wetters!

Butcher being out is the most important one with the lack of grit in our midfield

Was talking to a Dunfermline fan and according to him all the chat amongst pars fans is that Nisbet is either Hibs or Heats bound this window.
Personally I can't see Shaw going on loan to sign Nisbet.
His goal scoring record is more than decent.

No wonder.
It’s been obvious since the first ball was kicked this season we needed a defensive midfielder, this game on Sunday is exactly the sort of game we’d need one.
I’m really surprised we didn’t have someone lined up for the start of the window. Imo if we lose on Sunday the club will deserve any criticism it gets.
Completely agree the fanbase will go into meltdown and the club would deserve all the flak it would get.
Let's just hope it doesnt come to that...but I was sure wed have had a CDM in by Sunday..very disappointing when u can see the gap in our midfield from the moon

A defeat amd the season is done .
Will impact gates for rest of season as well as next seasons season tickets ,at a guess another 2k+ of fans melt away.

Only because its my opinion if we were going to let ine young guy go out on loan we'd maybe be bringing in someone who has scored goals at a higher level tnan league one and championship level. Just my thoughts of course

If we lose in the cup, that's essentially the season over. We should have addressed that glaring obvious lack of steel in the midfield months ago and had players lined up.
Wonder if we were to be put out of the cup if that would affect how much business we do in the window. Keep more of the budget back for the long term rebuild starting in the summer. Where as we if we were through to the next round might be more likely to get another body or two we otherwise might not have.

Always thought Fraser was a good payer for them, I sure Lavine signed him on a pre contract but for some reason didn't happen, can't remember which team in England he ended up at but remember hearing he was doing well.

Top six would mean a lot more to us financially than a couple of gambles in the transfer market. Bottom six pish could also have implications on season ticket sales for next year.

The problem is that we are 12 points behind Motherwell so a bit of a chase especially if we keep soiling ourselves away to the likes of Ross County and Livingston as we have recently. Aberdeen not coming back 11 points.

I don't think they were ever after him.
No better than what they already have.
They desperately need a goalscoring striker like Boyce who they put a bid in for but are not going to get.

Most teams won’t win away at Livingston, probably the hardest place to go outside of Glasgow. Hopefully the away performances will improve though to match the standards we’ve been seeing at home under JR

Injured and returning to training in couple of weeks apparently. As others have said seems unlikely as he was starting before the injury.

Got to say I’m getting a bit worried now.
I appreciate us taking our time and trying to get the right player in, but that’s not 2 weeks with nothing.
Our already light midfield has took a huge knock with Mallan now our injured for 2 months. Add to that Vela and Newell struggling with injuries.
We need to keep the numbers right in the squad but we need players in now and of real quality who will take us to the next level.
Out
Shaw - County or Kilmarnock
Jackson - Bolton
Maxwell - Return from loan
Innes Murray - Edinburgh City
Gullan - Raith
But who is coming in??
Every name that is mentioned seems to be one post then it’s never mentioned again by them. Mcgeady, Wadja were two of these then Mcgeouch, McLaughlin and McNulty were shut down instantly.

I thought Gullan was playing 1 last game for Raith and before rejoining us. So he'd effectively be in place of Shaw.
If Maxwell goes then Bogdan will get a deal.
Wouldn't think Jackson will go unless we've got someone lined up to come in.

Hibs really do keep things very close to their chests these days, no media leeks know ITK's it was very similar in the summer.
I am confident we are working on deals it's just frustrating there hasn't been anyone in the building yet. With Mallan now out for 2 months hopefully we will see someone in soon.

It’s very difficult/impossible to get all of your recruitment right and is a risk taking most players.
