As I say I don't agree with said poster on everything, but I don't agree with the personal abuse and the individual naming or calling out of posters, just like what you are doing as it just leads to conflict.

Sad to see the place descend into a twitter type cesspit in a few hours.

Enjoy yourself with the new guys. I'm out.

I find him extremely entertaining for one. I agree with his America first outlook and that the rest of the west has been taking advantage of the US taxpayer for too long. I like that he is anti-war and will do business with whoever, he doesn’t feel the need to be the world police. His stance on the border is spot on. He doesn’t speak like a politician and will say it as it is, he is anti-woke and protects women’s spaces and sports. The list could go on and on.

And as for your other question. Your hatred for Trump coupled with your spouting of regurgitated, false claims about him tells me you are probably a millennial bore who gets most of his information from main stream media outlets, which you swallow without question. You believe you are righteous and parrot phrases like being on ‘the right side of history’. You agree with the mainstream position on pretty much every single topic, whilst not realising that it’s all been spoon fed to you and that all your so called opinions align with every big corporation and career politician in the world.

That’s what it says about you, but a bit like what you think liking Trump says about me - it could all be incorrect. Who knows?

Interesting, you claim that Jones is a main stream bore that swallows everything the media throws at him. Yet you then go on to spout the exact same phrases used by the St Petersburg Troll Factory.

I made up a fake social media profile because I wanted to see what was down the rabbit hole, you'd fit in quite nicely if you haven't already got your own little warren.

If Musk had come across even a fraction better in the last few months I might even feel a bit sorry for him. He's just another person who has been fooled and used by a man who appears to care little for anyone but himself.

He's in a pretty vulnerable position now. His position within his companies was already under scrutiny. So much of his business success hinges on the cult of personality around him (and the fantastic cars he makes tbf). That ambiguity of whether he is a bold pioneer opening up new frontiers or a cartoon, classically camp Bond Villain. He's already seen a backlash because of his support for Trump. Now he has the same coming the other way; many of those lauding him as a genius and saviour mere days ago will change their mind because Trump tells them to. Those on the other side won't easily forget the Nazi salute and hostile rhetoric. He's managed to piss all sides off with the path he has chosen.

He had to be all in with Trump and back everything. Instead he saved a few million to allow Trump to give his cronies the same millions in tax breaks with a whack of interest on top. A bit of a fool really.

The Nazi thing is a bit of a problem but it didn't really hold van Braun back. If his ego can handle working quietly — unlikely — he might still be a very successful entrepreneur, I'd imagine.

It's a relief that the threat of competence in this administration has completely dissipated by June.

The danger he faces now is the withdrawal of all the govt contracts and subsidies he has, as well as all the investigations in to his companies that were put on hold because of Trump. Trump can do him a lot of harm.

It really shouldn't need saying but as always there will be zero tolerance for any racist, bigoted, homophobic or misogynistic posts. Thankfully that has not been a big problem here.
We do run a football forum here and we don't want to go back to spending as much time deleting posts etc in this place as we did in the past. With that in mind we ask that you please police this place yourselves regarding any childish insults etc. We all get a bit overheated sometimes, when that happens please just step away rather than blasting at someone. We are all grown ups after all.

Or, hypothetically, a different (perhaps unfriendly) country that he feels matches his needs and ambitions? Musk is, basically, a rootless and impetuous individual - who also happens to be a private US defence contractor, and pissing him off has always seemed to carry a risk.

Musk wasnt in bed with Trump 12 months ago though. Approx one third of their stock has been wiped out since Trump's inauguration in January. Their shareholders won't be looking at net gains over 5 years! Current factors matter and there's no doubt that is a tanking.

You're probably aware of this, but it's worth remembering that the very generous plea deal Epstein was offered by the Florida prosecutor gave immunity from prosecution to both named and unnamed co-conspirators.

I think someone tried to challenge that after the investigation that put him away for the second time, but it failed.

Not sure illegal immigration was an issue in Nazi Germany...

Seriously though, is Trump not just playing to the voters here in his usual inflated manner? Pledging to get tough on undocumented migration was a big vote winner for him (as it tends to be in many countries these days) and he's already reduced crossings from Mexico to a relative trickle by vastly increasing troop numbers at the border.

People hold their hands up in horror at Trump's behaviour, but the 'can you believe what he's done now' reaction doesn't really wash. Everyone knew what they were buying into by electing him. There are years of this to come (unless he dies in office).

Straight from Hitlers playbook.

Ignore democracy and ride roughshod over local politicians and anyone else who gets in the way of dictatorial politics by suspending their ability to oppose or govern.

If the current situation doesnt deescalate in the coming days, it will be interesting to see the reaction of the police authorities and national guard. It will be a litmus test of how loyal they will be to Trump. Trump will be watching this experiment and the outcome will determine how far he thinks he can go.

As we're discussing the pros and cons of Trump as President...

I totally get the viewpoint expressed a couple of pages back about the fact that Trump's US has not (so far) invaded any other nations. In fact it's a point I raised during his last incumbency as President that, IMO, there had been much worse behaviour by previous presidents in invading multiple other countries (Iraq. Vietnam, etc), overthrowing lawfully elected leaders by covert means (e.g. in Central America) and undermining economies and businesses in countries that were supposed to be their allies.

However...

....it's very clear by now that he was held back in his first presidency by a number of 'Jackasses' (his words) that he appointed to various roles, and he's been determined to get his work done properly this time by only appointing those that are 100% loyal and never question his decisions.

In the last few months, he's done the following:

Constantly insulted their (previous) greatest ally, Canada, with demeaning, nonsense arguments, even going so far as to describe them as a possible future '51st State'
Openly discussed taking over Greenland, by force if necessary, and sending his representatives to the territory to pressure/scare the people of Greenland and Denmark.
Created so-called 'retaliatory' tarrifs against almost every other nation (excluding Russia) that massively tanked the markets.
Has sinced gone back and forward on these Tarrifs, in a form of bullying behaviour that negatively affected multiple nations, including those traditionally viewed as allies.
Engaged in multiple instance of illegal behavour, in regard to Tarrifs etc, by giving family and friends an illegal heads-up on when it was a good time to invest (normally this would result in multi-million dollar fines, or even jail), and personally accepting bribes and other favours
Removed USAID, and other spending, estimated to already having lead to the deaths of tens of thousands of people (https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/trump-musk-usaid-cuts-deaths-aids-hiv-b2708883.html) (who needs war?)
Filled the Supreme Court with people that bend to his will, thereby removing the traditional separation of State and Law.... and boy has he taken advantage of that!
Pardoned the Criminals that stormed the capitol, an event that was unprecedented in US history and lead to serious injuries and even deaths of people that were simply doing their jobs.
Presented a bill to reduce the taxes of the richest people in the US by billions of dollars, and at the same time to reduce spending on healthcare and in poorer communities.
Rescinded laws and government funding intended to help tackle the world's climate crisis and instead granted multiple licences for mining raw materials that are harmful to the environment.

....I could go on but I'll leave it at that for now

Musk has likely realised that Trump has the power - and is petty enough - to cancel the enormous US Gov contracts with Musk's companies. So now he's crawling back. The only chess being played is pigeon chess.

I see a pattern that was evident in the early days of Putin's Russia, where massively rich oligarchs dared to disagree with Putin and suffered pretty serious consequences (prison, exile or mysterious deaths).

Putin's climb to power was actually bankrolled by some of these people and many of them, if they were lucky, lived to regret it.

Sound familiar?

Damn immigrants.

I stupidly watched Fox News the other night it was about 4 in the morning our time and the reporters on that channel are crazy, one suggested she had been agitating all day and deserved it, and then another reporter walking down the street saying the agitators were being armed by mysterious people who drop of baseball bats and poles and hide them for the agitators to get to them, he then walked past a gated yard and pointed to pallets of bricks that he said had just arrived and they would be used to throw at police, it just looked like a worker’s yard and then bang, looking up in to the sky it looks like there are millions of helicopters up there and the camera panned to the sky and there was one police helicopter. :greengrin

If there are agitators, then they're more likely to be Trump’s brown shirts provoking a response from the protesters. It's a play straight out of the dictators handbook. Get your opponents to set fire to the Reichstag then introduce emergency legislation to crown yourself king and the jobs a good un.

It’s a truly disturbing watch, and I note that he said afterwards that he wasn’t even arrested, despite being manhandled and handcuffed in such an aggressive manner.

We are barely six months in, and Trump will only try and increase the shock factor further and further. It will undoubtedly lead to some truly atrocious things happening.

I'm surprised there hasn't been more outcry about that. She was standing with her back to the police line offering no sort of threat to anyone and he shot her from close range with a weapon that is described as non-lethal but has been known to be lethal. In a civilised country he would be immediately suspended and subsequently charged with assault at the very least.

She's not the only journalist to be shot by "law" enforcement either - Nick Stern a UK journalist needed emergency surgery to remove one of those rounds from his leg (proof in itself that they could be lethal) and at least two other journalists have been shot - one apparently has a massive bruise on his forehead.
