How were they? I saw them at the o2 in Glasgow last time and nearly walked out because they were too busy telling fart jokes rather than playing music, when they did play music they were pretty good.

I was at the Dropkick Murphys gig a day or two before BFS.

They were excellent, though it was knob jokes this time. It didn't last long. To be fair, it was a full play through of the 'A Hangover You Don't Deserve' album which is 18 songs plus a handful of other songs, so they probably didn't have time for a lot of jokes.

Wheatus and Magnolia Park were decent too. They had a DJ inbetween the sets which is becoming more and more common. Unfortunately this guy was a total lady garden. Nonsense chat and he apparently has his first own song out too which he insisted on 'performing'. He was clearly miming. Got booed off the stage. BFS then had him on stage later and he got booed again. BFS looked a bit surprised.

Glad you had a great time. I really like them but there was just too much fannying about for me the last time I saw them. They seem to have a massive following with a very mixed crowd, so they are doing something right.

Gutted to have missed this as we were away on holiday. Had tickets to the Edinburgh album launch gig last year that got rearranged due to supporting Travis but we were on holiday for the rearranged gig too. Got to the Travis gig at the Hydro, though.

Was it well sold? He said something at the Travis gig implying the ticket sales were bad and there seemed to be a lot of promotion of it on social media

Aye, Nicola, and Kirsty Wark were both up on the decks. I'm too old for that kind of thing but the place was rocking, by all accounts. NS was sat next to my Mrs for one of the events we attended, but she was at all of them.

Don’t think so it’s pretty industrial around there. Cook street has a couple of food places on it that look like they only do deliveries only there’s always mopeds sitting outside it.

Ten or so minute walk back into town and if you head towards Central Station there are plenty of places to eat in West Nile Street and Renfield Street.

I was in Babs yesterday which is a Meze type restaurant which is in West Nile Street and 5 minute walk from Central Station. Superb food.

Depends if you like Moroccan, Lybian, Syrian, Kurdish food or not. We went to Naranj a while back and it was lovely. But if you want something a bit more standard then head back into town.

O2 is no more than a 10 minute walk (or 5 minute taxi) to central Glasgow - a quick hop onto the Shoogle at St Enoch 1 stop and you're at the door of the O2 too...

3 of my favourite bands today announced "UK tours", with not a single date that ventures outside of England - I'm getting so utterly sick of how much Glasgow is dwindling as a location (certainly in the rock/punk/metal scene). In the last 12 months, that's Rise Against, Beartooth, Silverstein, Thursday, Superheaven, Architects, Spanish Love Songs, Slayer, Allt (to name but a few) bands that have completely missed out Scotland (not to mention Northern Ireland, and mostly Wales too).

Major venues in Scotland will ultimately end up closing their doors if booking agents and artists continue to ignore Scottish stops on major tours.

As others have said, it's a short walk into the city centre. The St Enoch centre has a few places. You are spoilt for choice if you cross the bridge, it's only a 10-15 minute walk.

Emotional night in Glasgow on Monday as Fish signed off on a stellar career. Fans from far and wide in attendance and a cracking set to end it all. I first saw Marillion at the Playhouse in 1987, was at Fish’ final gig with them at Fife Aid in St Andrews and saw many solo shows, including at the Hibs Club. He’ll be sorely missed. There's a subway station car park next door. On the left as you're looking at the building.

Be wary, though. It uses ANPR (or something beyond my comprehension), and that doesn't work too well if people drive up to the gate too quickly. So it can take a while to get out.

Saw Primal Scream at the Usher Hall last night.

Overall, a good show. We were under the overhang of the balcony so struggled to understand what Bobby Gillespie was saying (strangely enough, could make out the words when he sang them). The band were tight, great guitarist.

There was a mid-point lull and I was getting a bit bored, but it picked up again and he got the place rocking.

Baxter Dury (ian's son) was support. He was decent, but a tad one dimensional. Certainly gave it plenty in his delivery, but would perhaps benefit from a more varied pace and a bit of his old man's humour.

It was

Inflatables, costumes, massive screen and a giant balloon saying F*** Yeah Edinburgh thrown into the crowd at the end

Loads of confetti that was everywhere. I swear I saw some on Duke Street yesterday that I wouldn’t the surprised was from someone at the gig

As you can probably tell from my avatar, I'm also a fan!

Enjoy! Been a fan since 'Hollow Crown', and I was quite annoyed they followed the recent trend of 'UK tours' with no Scottish dates.

They're not the greatest live act I've ever seen (Sam's voice rarely holds up to be honest) but it was a nice experience to see both Josh Middleton and Tom Searle live in previous iterations of the band.

Love the new record, but nothing will come close to the 'Lost Together//Lost Forever' > 'Holy Hell' run of albums (a quite unrivalled trio IMO).

Amy MacDonald’s more familiar stuff went down quite well, but I think she was a bit early in the day to have too much of an impact.

Lottery Winners were great as always, but Thom spends so long interacting with the crowd that they lose time for at least a couple of songs, if not more. Would expect them to get a longer slot further up the bill next year.

Was an interesting shift in crowd when the Scousers were clearing out after the Wombats before James came on!

“Garbage” was needlessly harsh actually (sorry). I was really getting into the Rattlesnakes and they were going from strength to strength. Seen them at the Barrowlands a couple of years ago and they were exceptional. Im sure Frank is enjoying the opportunity but it’s nostalgia with no longevity and cost one of the UKs best contemporary heavier punk bands.

Undertones were brilliant

Met Steve Diggle at the hotel pre gig and he couldn’t have been sounder but didn’t think they were that good… I think seeing him on the big screens it was a bit obvious he’d maybe been enjoying himself before the gig on a bit more than the bevvy 😂❄️

Skids were very good and was buzzing to see them finish with my favourite Clash song

A fantastic day. Was there in time to hear the Rezillos go through their soundcheck while we waited to get in, knew then that we were in for something a bit special. Their opening set was the perfect scene setter. I wasn't expecting much from the Skids , that was the fourth time I'd seen them in the past couple of years and last time I thought Jobson was going through the motions. He smashed it yesterday, superb. The Buzzcocks on the other hand were a mess, Diggle seems to have re-invented them as a heavy rock band, awful. The Undertones showed them how it should be done with The Stranglers showing they are still a live force.
Frank Carter and the Pistols were different class though. Hearing those familiar riffs blasted out as Frank did what Frank does was one of the best live experiences I have ever had. I was sceptical about him fronting them when I first heard about it. I was wrong. The four of them are a perfect blend.
Time to blast out NMTB, I'm still buzzing.

I've been to the IoW festival 4 times now. it's fantastic. Great mix of music and punters with a far lower number of wee radges than TITP etc. Definitely geared towards the more mature crowd, no doubt......that's me though unfortunately lol. Last Night Kid Creole and the Coconuts. Bought the tickets principally to see the support band Barbara. We've seen supporting a few decent bands. Genuinely surprised at the main attraction. Excellent musicians, good backing (and lead singing from the Coconuts). The trick - play all the hits early doors but they all lasted about 10 mins. In the first hour they'd managed a total of 6 numbers including 2 from the ladies. No-one under 60 in the Queens Hall which isn't too far short of capacity. Old August D is an excellent front man- and a pretty great mover for a man his age!

Yeh he's fine. He just did a short solo tour....basically the same as Erasure, full band but no Vince. His voice seemed to be much better than recent years and he was on good form. His rewind shows tends to be glorified karaoke.

His Rewind show I saw just sounds like the solo tour you’ve mentioned. Full Erasure set without VC. Not sure what you mean by “glorified karaoke” tbh.

I was there too. Was at their last visit to Edinburgh 43 years ago as a schoolboy. The Kid in great form at 74 and the backing band were top pros along with thr girls. Great show and a thoroughly enjoyable night 🙌

He's here!

I was at Alanis Morissette at the Hydro last night. Brilliant gig from a performer at the peak of her craft.

From what I saw streamed on YouTube until the bellend stewards made the guy turn it off (thanks Hazeydaze, if you’re out there somewhere you beautiful Welshman) it was outstanding.

I’ve heard the coolest ***** are going on the 12th of August [emoji16] and that’s the only date they’ll be playing Columbia, Lyla and IATW. Just what I’ve heard though [emoji6]
