Is anyone going to Frabbits gig in Paisley?
If so, if you hear of a spare ticket or two can you give me a shout please.

Depends on your tastes I suppose - I know they're quite popular, but for me, they released one really good album (their first) and everything after that just sounded derivative and insipid - pretty typical of the Indie bands from that era.
I seen them live at my only ever trip to T in the Park in 2005, and they were entertaining enough.
Some good tracks but these tickets will be going on offer.

Four tickets bought for The Killers at Staples Center LA February 2018. Never heard of them so need to Spotify and find out if we want to go.
Interesting way to go about buying tickets for a gig...:greengrin
I see you're not keen but I would recommend seeing them live, great stuff - seen them 5 or 6 times now!
Their last album was poor, but I think the first two are superb. The third is okay for the most part.
I like their most recent single 'Run For Cover' which to me sounds like a bit of a return to form. We shall see.

Going to a gig on the 22nd and can't decide between 2 - My old mans daft on Stiff Little Fingers and he's already got tickets for the Liquid Rooms, seen them at T last year and they were brilliant. Clashes with Definetely Oasis at La Belle Angele tho. Good dilemma however.
Sets me up for Liam Gallagher at Leeds three days later. Canny wait.

I'm going to that. I've never seen Mogwai do a show with poor sound, but we were recommended to opt for standing tickets for best sound in The Hydro.
Tonight is a trip to Leith Theatre for the Neu Reekie Trainspotting 21st anniversary do. Irvine Welsh and Ewen Bremner both reading, the film played, Arthur Baker dj'ing but highlight is the Fire Engines playing live. (Wonder if Irvine managed to get an Ibrox brief.?)

Having seen them support the Foo's and play at the Barrowlands I know where my preferred venue is!

Got tickets in yesterdays pre sale for Noel Gallagher at the Hydro, not cheap £248 for 4 standing tickets including the fees they add on, £6.70 per ticket on Ticketmaster plus £2.20 postage, had to pre order the new album and poster as well.
For this gig the lead bookers name will be on ALL the tickets and you all have to arrive at the same time as the lead booker has to show ID or nobody gets in. Its a good idea i suppose as it should stop touts selling on for huge prices but it also means you cant buy them as gifts for people.

Putting aside the annoying "booking fees" and "handling fees" and "lead singer's coke fees", I'm not sure that we do. I've been to a few gigs in Holland and the States in recent years, and prices are probably higher there.

Tickets abroad can be dearer. €100 is the norm for a big stadium gig in Germany, France etc. America is even worse. The current exchange rate doesn’t help.

Not a gig as such but a quick plug for a new indie club night starts tomorrow. Myself and a few mates DJing.
The night is called "The Fear" and is on at Mash House 10pm to 3am. We play vinyl sets only and it's a mix of indie (new and classics), 60s psychedelic stuff, mod and soul/northern soul.
Citrus is finished now and Madchester is a bit cliched or mainstream for some tastes. So if you fancy a new indie night and out tomorrow, get along! Fiver entry.

Bit of a disappointing turnout to be honest!
Those who came along enjoyed it but was hoping for more people. This was first night at Mash House and will likely be every other month there. Although we'll be doing next one around Xmas time.
We had a night at Voodoo Rooms earlier in the year that was better attended so we'll persevere! Trying to build it up and spread the word.

Rather than post about gigs I've seen, I shall attempt to be true to the title of this thread.
Next up is a trip to the excellent Backstage at the Green Hotel in Kinross to see the legendary Carl Palmer.
The opportunity to see this amazing drummer close up in a small venue should not be missed.
That sounds like a great event Was just saying to a mate recently you don't hear of him much

I was there too with the mrs and mates. I was standing upstairs as the Mrs could sit there at a table as she's 5 months pregnant. They were brilliant and I'll be back again next year. I missed them last year, I had tickets but couldn't go due to illness. Thouroughly enjoyed my night. All of a sudden I was in my teens again when they were blasting out those songs.

Thought they were brilliant. First time seeing the new setlist after 7 gigs in the first leg where I felt the setlist was too plodding. Much more upbeat, especially the first hour or so. Dave was on fire. Great crowd too, which you can’t always say in the England, especially midweek. Next stop on the tour for me is Riga and Vilnius in February. Can’t wait!

Got tickets for The Proclaimers at the Playhouse on 9 November.
Struggling to get on Ticketmaster at the moment. Seems it isn't just Hibs tickets they are worse than useless at dealing with.
Tickets for Proclaimers purchased for Sat 17th at O2 Academy Glasgow. 6 of us. Cannot wait!

Not much - saving for Primavera Sound in Barcelona which has an incredible line up. Belle and Sebastian, Spiritualized, Bjork, Nick Cave, Fever Ray, Sparks, The National, Arctic Monkeys, Public Service Broadcasting - tons and tons.

Bit claustrophobic on way out Support band were interesting

Stereo is always an uncomfortable exit, particularly for sold out shows like Baxter Dury. I'm assuming there is emergency exits downstairs as I wouldn't like to get out there in a hurry if not! My mate was keen to see the support simply because his other half is French, and we quite enjoyed them. We would have been the three guys talking loudly about Hibs during the quieter moments.
Next for us is King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard @ O2 ABC before a couple of weeks break till next one, Mark Sultan @ Leith Depot

Rolling Stones coming to murrayfield in June.
I'm on the Stones mailing list, and I've received a recent email about the 2018 tour. It says there will be a ticket pre sale for Murrayfield on 9 June, at noon today. I realise its not noon yet, but i cant find any link or way to get onto a page for the noon pre sale.
Is anyone else trying to do the same, and if so, any tips ?

To everyone asking, the codes and links are on the way out to your emails, we have been assured they will land in your inboxes by 1pm latest, this will not affect your access to the presale in any way. It begins when you receive the code and link.

Well done mate. Yep, the tickets are a bit more pricey than normal, but the Stones have been music icons since time began, with stacks of brilliant songs, so I'm buzzing for this already. We're in the upper tier section 16, row JJ

Saw some tweets regarding The Rolling Stones ticket prices - just can't get my head round why people would pay such extortionate sums for a gig ticket. I average about three gigs a month, and the most expensive ticket I've ever bought was £55 to see Kraftwerk last year. Most shows I see are about £15 give or take a couple of quid higher or lower.

I agree it fortunes with the fees mines are not far off £150 each, probably the last time we might see them perform here so would be gutted to miss it but I do love them and they put on a great show. Springsteen would be the only other I would pay big bucks for.

I paid 80 quid per ticket for me and the missus, but with the other addons it becomes 90.
Its been a lifelong ambition of mines to see them live, so this type of thing is why I work and save ;-)

Failing that I’ll be going to The Stones!

I paid 65 quid in 2003 to see The Stones at the SECC - that was about double the average gig ticket back then (possibly more). It was just about worth it in the end because (a) it was good, and (b) I got right up the front with just a standard GA ticket.
Now though there about 3 tiers of GA and the cheap standing tickets are the back half of the field only, so you'll be a mile away from the stage, even if at the front of that section. I didn't go to see them in Auckland a couple of years ago because the prices for good tickets were so high. I wasn't paying $150+ (75 quid) to stand away up the back.
Not as if the old goats need the money either!

Gig ticket prices are getting silly. In America they have started using the boxing ticket model with front few rows tickets up to $800, like ringside seats. Then you’ve got the premium tickets with private bar, piece of ‘exclusive’ merch etc which can be nearer $1000.
I’m just back from seeing Depeche Mode in Riga and Vilnius. My Fan-zone tickets were £100. GA and crap seats were £70. They were sold out with a huge secondary market. Compared to the cost of living there, that’s mental prices.

Admittedly, my musical tastes are not mainstream, so high ticket prices is not something I'm going to encounter other than the occasional bigger show.
The fact that artists are struggling to make money through sales of CD's/Vinyl,downloads and poor returns from streaming services, leaves touring the main source of income. We always went to gigs, but not at the frequency we have done these last few years - seems to be stuff we want to go and see every other week, but fortunately most of those bands are charging considerably less than a ticket to see Hibs.

After enjoying a one man band in Mark Sultan/BBQ at Leith Depot on Friday past, the next gig is going to be another one man band! Bob Log III is playing Opium next week. Similarities between the two with the two pedal drumming with feet and bashing out raw rock'n'roll on the guitar, but Bob uses some effects and loops. Tickets are a bit cheaper than The Rolling Stones..
