They're always good.Ruts DC are still on tour, if they're playing your way then it's well worth catching them. They still do a lot of the ruts classics but the newer stuff is excellent as well, has more of a pub rock vibe to it.

Had a great weekend in Sheffield just gone. Normally its No Bounds festival but it was cancelled this year & they put on a smaller version. To be honest apart from fewer acts I noticed very little difference. Buzz was the same, acts were still top class (you can only see one at a time anyway & it still went on till 6am each morning). Highlights were Judgitzu https://nyegenyegetapes.bandcamp.com/album/umeme-kelele and Pö https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NtCWDoYtExQ

What was Sheffield like? We’re going to try get Liam Gallagher tickets tomorrow for his Sheffield gig. It’s my wife’s birthday that day and we might make a weekend of it.

I know what you mean but with admin it's £140, then time off work etc. Seen them the last time at the SECC and they were amazing, this time they're at the OVO, hence the hike in price, we'll think about it, loads of other gigs to think about.

I saw them at the Ovo a few years ago, 2014 I think, and it wasn’t near £65 a head then either. I’ve seen them play at the corn exchange, hydro and secc, can’t remember the costs exactly but I’d say it hasn’t been any more than 40ish.
I’ve seen them play a few times, always incredible, would love to go again but not sure I can justify 65 plus admin, plus travel/parking costs.

They are Ozzy. Tommy O’Dell, the lead singer is a massive Everton fan. Think his family are originally from Liverpool. The club seem to embrace it too. They have DMAs related Everton merchandise. Think the band were signing stuff in the club shop beforehand too.

Caught them at the Lemon Tree on Friday. I don’t think they will be playing a room that small again, absolutely superb. They were pretty special, would have gone to barrowlands but felt it would be like a Celtic match or a wolfetones gig so just went to Edinburgh.
The new album is superb, a big step up from first one.

Noel last night was great.
Have to say I found it a bit dull. I was really disappointed when it became clear that his set list is just the same as his summer gigs.
There are so many tracks that he’s just done to death now. Half the World Away, Little by Little, Idle etc. Just feels like he going through the motions and it’s all a bit one paced
Would rather be played more of his new album or picked better songs from his earlier solo stuff. Most people seemed to think it was a great gig so probably just me but I’m so bored with his sets now.

Gigs are always a bit like this, no matter who the band are it's a fine line between playing too many new tracks or too many older classics.
Up in Edinburgh for Christmas so I went along to The Jazz Bar on Chambers Street to see Canadian guitarist Kevin Barrett and then the “World Premier” quintet.
Great wee venue, good music and a diverse crowd.
Well done Edinburgh for having a decent jazz venue!
The wife and I have given each other some gig tickets for Christmas, so in January we have Buckcherry and Florence Black in Glasgow and then in March we have Ugly Kid Joe with support from The Virginmarys in March. The daughter gave us a £50 voucher from Ticketmaster, so that'll go towards another gig somewhere.

They are Ozzy. Tommy O’Dell, the lead singer is a massive Everton fan. Think his family are originally from Liverpool. The club seem to embrace it too. They have DMAs related Everton merchandise. Think the band were signing stuff in the club shop beforehand too.
Not sure if the other two support Everton too. One of them, Johnny Took used to live in Leith so hopefully he has a soft spot for Hibs.

The Stranglers last night at the Usher was a bit of a let down. 50th anniversary, but nothing really happened to celebrate that. No support band and a set with a half hour break in it, so possibly the shortest set list outwith festivals. Next up is SLF and The Mary Wallopers in Newcastle this weekend.Mary wallopers were superb in Edinburgh just before Christmas. SLF always good value.
Next one I have tickets for is snuff in April, still swithering on hot water music in a couple of weeks.

I know, strokes for folks, but I do not get the appeal of Glastonbury. That is an abysmal lineup…

I'm curious as to how Faithless will manage without Maxi. :not worth

I love Glastonbury but that’s their worst line up in decades.

Are there not more tickets on sale on Friday? Hope you get yours if so.
Today was general sale, exact same outcome. The second the countdown turned to 'search for tickets' I clicked the button, but 'no tickets available.
Absolute farce - they are, of course, already up on Viagogo for hundreds of pounds.

Shocking that this is still going on.

I was at Marti Pellow at the hydro on Saturday (my mum made me go :greengrin)
He’s still an excellent showman, secretly enjoyed it 😄

I see some people have complained that Liam Gallagher and John Squire were on for less than hour. They did say beforehand that it would be their album plus some covers. It amounted to the album plus one cover.
I'm a bit worried that the LG Definitely Maybe tour might follow similar lines. "The Manchester legend will perform the classic album, which was first released on 29th August 1994, in full and play a helping of B-Sides from the era". Wonder what a "helping of B-Sides" actually means.

Booked tickets for Big Country ‘Return to Steeltown’ tour at the Queens Hall in September. Saw them there last year for the 40 years since ‘The Crossing’ tour and they were great.
Tickets on sale Friday for Thomas Dolby supported by Martin Macaloon (performing Prefab Sprout songs ) at St Luke’s Glasgow.

The only act on that lineup I’d be remotely keen to see is Two Door Cinema Club. Rotten lineup.

Not me, honest! I was in U38. They don't really strike me as a sing-a-long kind of band.
Thankfully no idiots like that near us, really enjoyable show. Could get used to sitting down at gigs. Never thought I'd say that.

Nah no chance. It'll be full album plus probably 8-10 more tracks. In line with other Liam sets at the Hydro which average 20 songs.
He's pretty much confirmed on Twitter that we'll hear Cloudburst, (It's) Good to be Free, Fade Away, Listen Up, Sad Song, Whatever and Walrus. That will be about 1 hour 40.
I can't wait. Going to Hydro but might do Manchester aswell. Seeing these songs again (or some for first time) will be incredible.
I enjoyed the Squire gig at the Barras but the album was never gonna raise the roof, it's quite a chilled vibe. The DM tour will be something else.

I had obviously missed all that on Twitter. Listen Up and Whatever are two of my favourite songs :aok:
I couldn't get Hydro tickets so going to the Belfast one instead. Prices for accommodation there that week is insane. We've managed to get a decent apartment now but the likes of a Premier Inn was nearly a grand for a couple of days.

He is prone to talking rubbish! But I think it'll definitely be a good 18 songs so maybe some of the B sides (or Whatever) might get rotated but we should get the majority of them.
Wow.... Belfast is a good night out so should be a great trip.
