The old favourites were of the usual high standard but, the new stuff was all a bit meh.
Think the new stuff is excellent (my opinion mind) but yeah the early stuff is and always will be my Fav. Got to wait until end of November to see them in Glenrothes.

Maybe need a few more listens before I decide but, the crowd wernae exactly getting into it when the new album stuff was being performed so, the general consensus seemed to be the same as mine. A guy in the row of seats in front of us throwing a strop and storming out the hall as his bird continued to dance away to the tunes was quite amusing though! :greengrin

Apologies for a wee plug for a gig I'm helping to promote next Saturday, 7th November at Electric Circus........Depeche Mode tribute band Speak & Spell.
These guys regularly play to sell out crowds in far bigger venues around Europe and are very true to the band. The lead singer is the vocal and visual spitting image of Dave Gahan, right down to the tattoos. They are playing Violator in full, all the hits and a few tracks you'll never hear DM play live these days. Great production and very authentic sound. Ticket sales have been excellent and we expect a near sell out so if you're a fan of DM or like your electronic music, get your tickets from Electric Circus or Ticket Scotland, £9 (£11 on the door).

Amazing gigs. I've seen literally hundreds of gigs over the years. The last 2 nights in Paris were up there with the best. I'm not their biggest fan and both U2 and Bono get some stick but they were unbelievable shows. Bono going with the flow with the stage intruder at the end was akin to the All Blacks and the kid a couple of weeks. As gigs go, you won't get many as powerful, emotional, thought provoking, hi-tech or down right rocking but with a personal touch.

Going to go and see Wavves at The Bongo Club tomorrow night. Thursday night will be Brix and The Extricated at Broadcast in Glasgow, then the week after that it`s back to Glasgow on Thursday for The Lovely Eggs followed by The Orb the night after in Edinburgh at The Electric Circus. (The missus is going to be thrilled when I tell her about the away trip to Alloa on the Saturday..) Think that will be it for this year then start next years gig going with John Grant at The Royal Concert Hall.
Had tickets for Fujiya & Miyagi at The Roisin Dubh in Galway which had been scheduled to tie in with a quick visit, but had to cancel the trip due to other events being rescheduled which was damn annoying. Just know it will be a belter.

I saw Suede last night at Camden Roundhouse. Thought they were excellent and forgot how many great songs they had. They played their new album on a stage behind a large projector screen and then a 1hr 45min set with all the old classics. Security was clearly stepped up and Suede dedicated an encore to the people of Paris.

Just back from Imagine Dragons at the hydro. Superb. Interestingly they were saying in 2012 they played on the 15th November in Glasgow to 150 people. In 2013 they played on the same date to 2,500 and on the same date this year they played to 12,000. Great rendition of 500 miles too [emoji106][emoji106]

Gutted that the Deftones have cancelled the remainder of their European tour following events in Paris, but fully understand and respect why.
They were due to play Le Bataclan on the Saturday night and most of them were in the venue on Friday watching Eagles of Death Metal.

Just about recovered from Shiine weekender. That's a lot to drink (And buy for Ozyhibby) in 3 days.
Happy Mondays - Good
Inspiral Carpets - Good
Stereo MC's - Surprisingly good
808 State - Dissapointingly poor
Peter Hook - Excellent
North side - Atrocious, they got hooked before they got to "Shall we take a trip"
Graeme Park - Played a 25 year old set which I spent the whole night complaining about. Not sure why really as I'm sure he was asked to play the set he did (Retro gig). It had been a long day.
Sunday was a strange day. Wonder Stuff and Frank & Walters were ok but not my thing.
Sunday was saved by the Pat Nevin DJ set. It was fun and everyone enjoyed it.
Special mention to our driver Paul, a Pars fan.
Met some really nice guys from Luton who are now Hibs fans.
Met 2 X Hibs fans that run the Madchester club.
Accomodation was not great but it was adequate. The venue (6000) at Minehead was brilliant and if the line up is good next year I would recommend it as a weekend away.

There was 4 of us and it was £210 each for 3 nights including all bands
The weekend package was good. Thought it might be a bit long but looking back, if you have a driver for the Monday morning then 3 nights is good.
We missed the beginning of Peter Hook & Light as we went for something to eat after Northside were so bad (I had noticed the singer standing behind us about 1 hour before he was due on stage - At the time I did not recognise him). I'm surprised he made it onto stage the state he was in.
808 state seemed to base 50% of their set on Pafific State and the clarinet seemed to never shut up. Maybe being a bit harsh as I'm an Orbital man and they are never going to reach that standard.
Was still looking forward to 808 and felt let down.
I was slightly surprised but did not see one bit of bother. When we arrive it looked like the ratio of males to females was 80 / 20 but it was more like 60 / 40. I did meet a Celtic fan from Dundee who ran a Chelsea pub in London when we were approached by 2 Scousers . At 45 I know how to extract myself from these situations.
Football on the big screens if you wanted it, lots of good music choices, bars open until 4am and a weekend with friends. Hibs even gave us a 4-1 win courtesy of Ozyhibbys regular updates.

A cracking night in store at Liquid Rooms on Sunday (27th). Party Fears Three are an Edinburgh band who cover electronic 80's bands such as Human League, Tears for Fears, Depeche Mode, Erasure, Ultravox etc etc. They really are excellent and put on an amazing show. They used to play a Christmas gig every year at Electric Circus but they've out grown that venue so now play Liquid Rooms.....followed by an electronic 80's club night. Tickets are selling really well and always a great night for those of us who refuse to accept the 80's are over!

Carnival of Madness at Hydro on 1st Feb mainly to see Shinedown who are brilliant.
Legends of Rock at Great Yarmouth in March - great 4 days/nights of classic rock from over 50 quality tribute bands.
Possibly Magnum in May at the Garage - not seen them for a few years and recently rediscovered they are producing good albums again.

Not sure you are in the minority, the venue was far from full. I'd had thought they'd be playing arenas by now like they are elsewhere. I'm going to see them in Helsinki and Tallin next month. Both gigs are in Ice Hockey stadiums with 10k and 18k capacities. I think their latest album was a let down compared to the first 2 but the synth/electronic thing is just not popular in the UK compared to elsewhere.

Shakespere is right next to it which isn't too bad. If you were standing outside the Usher Hall and were to turn right down Lothian Road you've got the Red Squirrel. never been there but heard it's good.
If you were to turn left you've got the Beer Kitchen. Innis and Gunnn pub, quite expensive but pretty decent. Further up you've got the Hanging Bat which is good and Moriary's which is alright.
not far from the Usher Hall is Lebowski's, couple of minutes walk. Quite like it there, always busy.
And right next to the Useher Hall is the Citrus Club. Quite possibly the greatest club anywhere in the world that plays indie music or any kind of music. Good place to head to after!

Most people going will have no knowledge of this Spin interview. FWIW I thought it was total bollocks. Miles Kane jokingly asked a journalist if she wanted to come to his room and he gave her a kiss as the interview closed. Big deal. She's then used this to write a rant about sexual harassment despite a sincere apology from Kane. Smacks of having an agenda to me and pretty transparent that she left Alex out the accusations as he's much more famous.
So I think the atmosphere will be class and I'm sure they'll have some on stage banter! Can't wait, saw them in 2008 and probably seen them separately about 10 times since, along with them doing Standing Next to Me at Finsbury Park in 2014.
Can't wait to hear some of the new tunes

I'm having a rather electropop type week. Saw Years & Years on Wednesday at the Academy, supported by Mø. Both were brilliant, I like the Years & Years album but was surprised at how much I enjoyed the gig. They had backing singers and a live drummer which really added an extra dimension. Tonight I'm off to the Hydro for CHVRCHES, they did one of my favourite albums of last year so I'm really looking forward to this one.

It's a very small festival with a lot of great metal/hardcore/punk/ska bands. We caught Coldrain, The Word Alive, We Came As Romans, Yellowcard, Mallory Knox, Zebrahead, Cancer Bats, New Year's Day, Issues and Of Mice & Men. Great way to spend a Saturday in the sun!

Was sitting right behind where that goal would be (if we had not removed it:greengrin) and kept thinking of that magic moment, unfortunately a crap position for this gig.
Because the show was an early start at 6:45pm we missed the first 20 minutes as the traffic was a nightmare. But got seated in the East stand in bright sunshine but the view was poor from the side and could not even see the big screens.
Also the sound was really poor from our seats it was distorted and could not make out guitar solos for instance, seemed to improve a little as the show went on but should be a lot better for a show like this.
Bruce as usual was fantastic and the setlist was just as good as it gets, when you get Darlington County, Because the Night, The Rising, Thunder Road, Badlands, Born in the USA, Born to Run, Glory Days, Dancing in the Dark & Tenth Ave Freeze Out all one after each other you think you've died and gone to heaven.
One of the greatest live acts in history, but unfortunately not the best venue (if seated at the side) and poor sound.

I was there last year and it has put me off. I'm not convinced by T's claims of improvements either. But having said that if the lineup was good enough, I'd be there. It's a bit underwhelming for me so I've steered clear.

Was gutted to find out that Architects had withdrawn two days before the festival due to a family emergency (cancelled the remainder of their European tour) - I didn't discover this til I was waiting on them to come on stage and they raised the banner of their replacement band instead.
Having said that, I had a blast this weekend - The Amity Affliction, Korn, Rammstein, Beartooth, The Men Who Will Not Be Blamed For Nothing, Deftones, Skindred, Delain, Periphery, One OK Rock, Don Broco, Billy Talent and the realisation of a life-dream to see both Breaking Benjamin and NOFX perform live!

A mini-Stone Roses review from me: Thought it started off a little shaky but grew as it went on. Mani, always the easiest to read, clearly looked nervous at first. John and Reni were solid as always. Brown's signing was only average for him, which is to say not particularly great. Suspect tonight might be better.
I personally preferred Glasgow Green in 2013.

I was lucky enough to be at the first night in Heaton Park a few years back and I thought the whole thing was amazing. Not been impressed with them so far. The first new tune was really disappointing. The second one was alright but if the first one hadn't been not sure how it would have fared.
I'm not sure why they've decided to make a come back. Is it all for money? I wouldn't have a dig at a band with a legacy as rich as The Roses wanting to cash in on it but it seems a bit...wrong. Not sure why.
Man United fans playing at the home of their biggest rivals, loads of hospitality packages aviaalble. I know you could have got hospitably at Heaton Park but this doesn't seem right.
Maybe I'm just bitter like a lemon...

All for One went down very well at the concert. Everyone responded well and it built the atmosphere up going into Made of Stone and She Bangs the Drums. They aren't all man united fans. I am pretty sure Reni supports City.
At the end of the concert, it seemed like they just really like performing. I know some people said that they though Brown got a little emotional.

Question for TITP veterans......I'm going on the Friday and the wife is desperate to get in the front of stage section for the Stone Roses. Previous times I've been I've never been too fussed. What's the script for getting in the front pit, is it just first come, first served? Do you get to come and go to the bog and bar etc or do you lose your place? When would a good time to get in and get our spot for The Roses?

head to the entrance of the pit during the previous act. If you dont get straight in, then at least as soon as the act finishes, people will leave and you will get in. Depending on how busy it is will depend on how easy it will be for you to get in and out for the toilet, but be prepared to be in there for the duration. They normally have male urinals at either side of the stage anyway. I've used the above method several times for headline acts at T and always got in.

Saw him in Inverness on Saturday. Good enough show, but he really needs to realise he's 71 and stop with the arse wiggling, etc. It was totally cringeworthy at times. Loads of Hibbies there, we must have a decent following in the Highlands.

Tartan Heart Festival at Belladrum at the weekend was brilliant. What a fantastic festival. VERY family oriented and I saw not one tube who'd over done it on bevvy or drugs, the complete opposite of my experience at TITP. Plenty folk of all ages from toddlers to folk in their 70's having a great time with a very eclectic mix of bands. This will definitely be my festival of choice from now on.

I was there yesterday after winning some VIP tickets. Proclaimers were great, Bootlegs also brilliant. Fratellis.... have to admit I was a fan of their first album and wished they'd played more of that. Not so keen on their newer stuff.
Main frustration of the day was the amount of people with their camping chairs making it difficult to move between stage and bar/toilets. I'm not used to events with so many families and gig goers of the older generation! it was all a bit ....civilised and the arena could've used more bar and food outlets. Apparently there were 8,500 there yesterday compared to c3,000 last year though, so I can cut the organisers some slack there.
Good day out even if it meant I missed the game yesterday

Saw them yesterday and 4/5 times at Usher Hall over the years, they are superb. If you're a big Beatles fan it's a great experience seeing them rattle through the eras.
By way of comparison I saw the show Let it Be earlier this year and those guys weren't a patch on the Bootlegs. McCartney in particular in the Bootlegs is spot on.

Was at Glasgow summer sessions on Saturday. Now apart from some real fannys who enjoy launching small glass bottles into the crowd it was fantastic! The frontman from Cage the Elephant is like a wee Mick Jagger. They were very good. Wolf Alice were decent. Fall Out Boy were excellent but Biffy were ****in incredible!! What a show they put on! Simon Neil can write a song that's for sure. Great night and getting Ma tickets sorted for their gig at the Hydro end of November. If you've not seen them I highly recommend it. :top marks

Next year is shaping up to be a ridiculous year for gigs. Either confirmed to be touring, rumoured to tour or expecting to release new material which 99% of time means a tour are:
Depeche Mode (20+ gigs for me each tour)
U2
Simple Minds
The Killers
Adam Ant
Stone Roses
Crowded House
INXS
Tears for Fears
Erasure
Oasis (currently evens with the bookies to tour in 2017)
Any betting folks, a few quid on Depeche Mode as an outsider to headline Glastonbury may be a sound investment. They were due to play a few years ago but decided not to extend their tour past the winter, meaning they'd have a 4 month gap between gigs so pulled out. I suspect they may be on the radar for next year as their tour is due to start in May and there's no Glasto the following year when their tour will be coming to an end. Michael Eavis is a big fan!

TITP on the Friday didn't sell out so not sure why Hampden would. A lot will depend on the support acts. They need to get their new album out to generate real interest or they're in danger of becoming a nostalgia act like those who appear at Rewind!

Anyone know what happened with Kraftwerk tickets yesterday?
Only place that seemed to have them was the Usher Hall but they sold out. Then they started appearing on StubHub and massive prices. Now today tickets for all shows in the UK apart from London have been removed from StubHub...
Are measures being taken to stop touts sellling the tickets? Might increase my chances of gettign a pair if touts have bought them, can't sell them at an inflated price then get a refund at the box office.

over 50% increase in 4 years though? Its less of an event than there comeback gigs at Heaton park, regardless of if they release a new album before next summer or not.
Still, its sold out, so there decision has been justified.
