The idea is you don't drop your D on their bye week, you put them on your bench. Most teams will have a little wiggle room on their bench, it's not usual that you have to keep them all - injuries, poor performances, etc.
As I said, it's each to their own and this is only my second year but if you want multiple Ds on your team rather than more depth at the skill / scoring positions, so be it.
The thing is, by this stage in the draft you're not even looking at likely "sleepers" or good rookies, you are looking at RB's likely to score around 70-80 points in a season or WR's likely to score around 100 points in a season. I'd rather try to draft a bench D which is still likely to score highly 130+ points and can be rotated based on the match ups or used as trade bait with someone like yourself who hasn't selected a D yet. :greengrin
I managed to pick up the Bears D mid season last year who went on to finish clear at the top of the scoring charts so maybe I got lucky, but having two D's for the second half of the season seemed to help as I was able to rotate them to suit the opponents.

I'm looking at getting depth at my skill positions because :
1. Studs don't always perform,
2. Diamonds in the rough,
3. Injuries
I'm trying not to just pick up any old garbage but guys I think can produce given the right set of conditions.
I know I won't get the best D in the league but that doesn't really worry me. I think other people will have bigger concerns than their D. I mean, how often does a whole D get injured? How often does a TE, RB or WR get injured.
I'm not saying this will work, it's just my tactic for this year.

It's much easier to pick up a free agent WR or RB should injuries strike or a player have a bum season, but with only 32 D's available, there'll not be many left two pick up if you need a back up.
Are you going to play without a D against me in week 1? :greengrin

The Ravens, Eagles, Jets, Falcons and Lions were all ranked as top ten defenses last season. They finished 16th, 28th, 13th, 20th and 27th overall come the end of the year. Have to side with Max on this one - I'm looking to find the next Doug Martin or Alfred Morris rather than trying to guess what defense will be good. I picked up the Bengals of the waiver and they were great!

The same thing will happen here so long as Hi8sry posts before 3.16pm tomorrow, when he can take both his picks together.

In a competitive league, almost every team has a weakness. It's almost impossible to build a team that is strong at all three core positions (quarterback, running back and wide receiver). Your backs and receivers look just fine. And while it's probably not accurate to describe a team with Matthew Stafford as weak at the position, we do think you're dangerously thin. As Tom Brady reminded us of in 2008, even quarterbacks with spotless health records can go down at any time. Thus the lack of depth at QB is what's keeping this team from getting our full endorsement.
So although this team isn't perfect (few are), it should still be a strong contender.
Players we particularly like on this team include Antonio Brown, Matthew Stafford, Cecil Shorts, DeMarco Murray, and LeSean McCoy. We have all these guys ranked ahead of where they are typically being drafted.
Bottom line:
With great inseason management, we think you have about a 85 percent chance of making the playoffs.
With good inseason management, we think you have about a 75 percent chance of making the playoffs.
With average inseason management, we think you have a 62 percent chance of making the playoffs.

and this is why some people use cheat sheets - not just to get a list of players listed by rank but so we can score out players once they have been drafted.
I'm not being a DB, this is my second season of FF so I have a little bit of a head start over some people.

I think he means was there any teams who don't have a player picked by one of us - i.e., did anyone pick a Cincinnati player for example (I'm aware the answer is yes).
I think all teams are represented and the Jessies will have a few players picked up during FA if they have a decent start.

You can trade players and grab players off the waiver wire all the way through to week X (up to the playoffs, I think).
If a player is a free agent and if you're too of the waiver wire then you can get him for nothing. If other players (meaning, us, not nfl players) are above you on the waiver wire then they get first dibs. Trades happen between two teams and have to :
1) be agreeable to both players,
2) be agreed upon by all other players in the league - to prevent unfair trades happening.

When you're looking at your team, along the scroll-bar at the top are a lot of options - click on either "Add" (which has all of the free agents) or "Trade" (and then set the filter to "all available", thus showing you the better players who are available on waivers (which is like a priority list, so the worst team gets first dibs)).

You interested in a running back? Your situation looks pretty dire. If you're desperate I'd be willing to package something in exchange for Gronkowski. He's pretty useless up until October and I'll throw in Bennett if you're not comfortable with one tight end.
Charles and McCoy are obviously going nowhere. Murray would require a bit of negotiating but the rest are all up for discussion.

So low are my expectations for tonight that I've taken the NY Jets defense for my fantasy team.
They shut down Doug Martin brilliantly last week and gave Tampa no time in the pocket. Our offensive line looked dreadful last week, we're missing Vereen, Amendola, Gronk, Sudfield...
I can't see where our points come from tonight so what the hey, I'm rolling the dice.

Well, that didn't work...I knew it would be a low scoring affair but the Jets' defence managed to get to Brady once and didn't manage any turnovers.
12 points with both DEF/K having played already. Splat.

NOLA - I'm incredibly sorry but I've hit accept by mistake on the trade you proposed.
I'm aware you've no requirement to help me undo this but it's not a trade I was willing to make and I've simply hit the wrong button (as my comment perhaps suggests).
Can we undo this please?

Failing that, I believe everyone has to accept the trade or Gatecrasher has to verify the trade?
Can we please reject/reverse this trade somehow - aware it's my own lack of attention in hitting the "Accept" rather than "Reject" but it was clear from the message I replied with that this wasn't a trade I wanted.

...id say max should get his two picks now. A bit harsh to make him lose a 1st rounder when he was raising money for cancer :hilarious
I don't want to be some overbearing dictator, it's all for fun at the end of the day so if you guys are cool with it I'm happy to let Max have his picks. The 24 hour rule was just to try and keep the draft from stalling for longer periods of time.
Good that Max got the picks :aok:. Now we're all on board I reckon we should stick to the rules from now on though :agree:. He did take my QB though :sairhead:.

That's the one.
The message which accompanied the trade said that "I wouldn't touch a NE receiver right now and that I didn't want two receivers from the same team in my fantasy lineup".
Having typed that, I summarily hit the wrong button!

Thank you - according to the rules, more than half of the owners need to vote against the trade.
Ouch! I almost proposed you a trade for Ballard but it wasn't Peterson I was offering - aside from AP, I don't have any RBs of note :greengrin

I have both Witten and Charles Clay, both of whom are in the top 10 points for TEs just now and I'm willing to trade one of them for a reasonable RB/WR.
looking at everyones RB's and there really is a dearth of top talent available, everyone has 2 decent RB1's then the drop off is quite big :agree:
