Other than Brady, everyone in my lineup flattered to deceive this week. Trailing by 26 points with Michael Crabtree and the 49ers Defense still to go but I think I'm also facing 2 Bears players still to go!
Carson Palmer returned to give me a kicking for keeping him inactive on my bench for so long!

God knows what's going on with my team. I gave up ages ago but their not even coming close yet alone winning games. Larry Fitzgerald :brickwall, I have a soft spot for the Cardinals but honestly how much is this guy on per year again? That's what gets you 11 yards per game .

I think the Cardinals problems lie with the QB, not necessarily their WR corp.

Fell short by 1 point, if the 49ers used crabtree more often than just 3rd downs, you'd have won methinks, shame ;D

Does anyone know how you break a tie in the league? At the moment there are three teams tied at 7-4, and only the first two of those three teams qualify for the semis. The table shows me in 4th place, the last semifinal place, even though ive scored less points and have a worse points for-against ratio than the team in 5th place :dunno:

I'm genuinely perplexed as to how conceding only 7 points with 6 sacks, 2 interceptions and a safety only equates to 16 points for my defense.
First week I've genuinely felt like I've deserved something I didn't get.

I hate it when someone snaffles a guy I drafted back at the start of the season. I took Pierre Garçon, stuck with him through some unproductive weeks, cut him when he got injured, he comes back, I pick him up, he gets one reception for five yards, so I cut him again. He has a big week last week and suddenly every man and his dog wants him off waivers :grr:

I've owned almost everyone in the league at this point! I almost grabbed Jennings this week but I went for Moreno instead. I've been bitten too many times by guys who don't deliver as expected. Miles Austin and Lance Moore are two names that spring to mind. What I *try* to do is recognise who has the most potential and stick with them through the hard times. I just hope that my loyalty to Hernandez eventually pays off. There's a good chance that it will, assuming no setbacks, since Gronk is out. I stuck with Charles even though lots of people were writing him off and he's been OK. Same goes for Leshoure.
I'm really enjoying this league and will be back for more next year (maybe try multiple leagues) and I have learned a ton in a short time.
Who let go of CJ2K? I wanted him off the wire but was beaten to the bunch.
Oh yeah, Kenny Britt, another guy who didn't deliver for me.
Hartline is a good example, perhaps the best, of a guy delivering big once.

Hi Commissioner,
What are our league standing tie breakers?
Right now I am in 5th place on 8-5. The best I can do is 10-4. The 3 guys above me are all on 9-4 meaning the best I can hope for is one of them losing this week. BUT, they all beat me in head-to-head this year so does it even matter if I win or lose or even play this week? If the tie breaker is on points scored then I have a chance because I've got a bunch but if it's head-to-head then I'm already out of contention.
Cheers, Max
EDIT : just checked the settings. It's head to head so the playoff teams have already been decided. The final standings might change but the top 4 won't. :-(

All the info is right there on the League page. There's a tab for Schedule and Playoffs. We play 14 weeks then the top 4 teams proceed to the playoffs. If there is a tie then it goes to head-to-head (which sucks for me for the aforementioned reasons). If it was on Points For then I would be sitting pretty. Sigh.

Although your loss wasn't a catastrophe it's still good to prevent you from sweeping the Pats contingent. ;) I think I must look at my fantasy football more than most people because I saw that Shorts was out earlier this week, it wasn't even a game-time decision from what I can tell. It's a shame about your D not being swapped in for you but it appears that NFL.com leaves "auto-changes" to a minimum, and I don't really fault them for that.

I have noted 1 or 2 NFL fans not involved this year and also StevesFamou5 who just missed out on it this year. I will also look at a live draft but we'll discuss dates and times next year as the off line draft took a bit longer than i expected . The winning / losing bit is "easy". ;). Guys and teams have good and bad days. I was convinced that Nicks and Bradshaw would have a stellar day against the Saints but even though the Giants won, those guys weren't as heavily involved as I expected. Injuries don't help. I've only had Albert Morris and Andre Johnson start so far, both doing well. If Legatron could kick a couple of 50 yarders as the game closes out then that would be handy too.

This was overall a bad week in fantasy land. Some people will have made out OK but speaking personally, what a bust. I might still scrape a win, depends on tonight.
I know we all have our own sob story but mine is :
Peyton Manning - it's not his fault that the Broncos dominated without relying on his arm.
NYG (I really mean Hicks and Wilson) - total disappointment but no doubt that pales in comparison to what Giants fans are feeling.
I had Leshoure in my line-up but took him out. Silly mistake. Kept Ridley out and that was a smart move but should have kept Lloyd in.
All IFs and BUTs. With only one game left to go I will be sure to go with my heart.

I'm not sure how you could make the draft work, if we were to do a live draft, how long would that take? Does NFL.com give you a time limit for each pick? Perhaps we could agree that the first 10 picks are live, and then we all put auto-pick on for the last 5?
Shall we do the draft order in the order we finished last year, reversing at the end of each round, or will we do a random draw again?
If there are people interested in joining the league then we should expand it to let them join.

ESPN do it really good. They random the draw and IF you do a live draft everyone has 5 minutes to make their pick. If you don't pick after the 5 mins they randomly pick someone for you. Whole thing would only take about 2 hours for us to do. Pretty sure between now and the start of the season we could arrange a point were everyone could be online at the same time. The season is over 3 months away :boo hoo:. Doing a live draft is also way much more fun as the pressure is on as you've only got 5 mins each pick and you get to have a bit of banter with everyone.

the only reason league expension is being looked at is because StevesFamau5 (http://www.hibs.net/member.php?23687-StevesFamau5) wanted to take part but couldnt as we needed an even number of players. I've just checked NFL.com and you can set up a list of players in the order you want to draft and if you can't do it, or have to leave half way through, then it will pick the highest available player from your list. I'm sure that would be do-able from my point of view.
Happy with drawing the draft order as if it was in order of finish last year, I'd be 2nd last every 2nd round..... This way there's a good chance I'll get a higher pick.
Hopefully we can find some people to expand the league as it will make picking players more challenging.
There's a couple of posters on the nfl thread who we should ask to join, DarrenSqh, StevesFamous5, Houchy, are names I've seen, the draft process wasn't too bad I thought, it was completed a few weeks before the season actually started, so if time is the main issue in regards getting everyone online @ the same time, no reason why not do the same or pre set your picks automatically? Either way I'm winning it this year :)

I don't really see what's so bad about last year's draft. Sure, it took a wee while to say the least but it was completed in plenty time for the season and it's irrefutable that everyone actually got who they wanted at any given pick. I'm not very keen on the idea of a computer generated draft, even with preferred pick lists; and given that I work most evenings I'm not too sure about being able to make a live draft.

Why wouldn't we snake it? The person picking first would have a major advantage if we did it that way.
The reason I didn't like it is that I had to wait so long between every other pick. Using the snake approach does yield more balanced average draft picks though. For a 10-team league, everyone has an average of 75-ish, varying between 75.2 and 75.8. Even though players at each end of the snake have to wait longer they do get two quick picks, followed by a long wait. If you do the traditional approach then the variance is greater. Player one has an average pick of 71 whereas player ten has an average pick of 80. It just feels fairer since there is a fixed amount of time between each pick but the snake approach is mathematically more balanced.

I don't know if this can be avoided but the one thing that was difficult (not really difficult) about the draft was trying to figure out who was already. We had pages of lists. I think if we did a live draft then it would be a little easier to keep your cheat sheets updated. I agree with those who say it was OK because it gave people more time and we weren't in a rush. I just found it a little tedious. Sorry.

2 new teams have joined the League this year (lochhibs has the Cabbage and Redskins and H18sry has Finsagogo) and its time we started looking to get things started. The Draft order will be decided by guessing the attendance of the Europa League game Versus Malmo at Easter Road. As with last year the person with the closest guess will get 1st pick and the person furthest away will be last. It will be an offline draft (just like last year) a live draft would have been awsome but the logistics of that made it very difficult to organise.

The only perk of being a teacher is 6 weeks off to prepare for this draft. I've got my rankings at the ready
Fixed that for you :aok:
2 new teams have joined the League this year (lochhibs has the Cabbage and Redskins and H18sry has Finsagogo) and its time we started looking to get things started. The Draft order will be decided by guessing the attendance of the Europa League game Versus Malmo at Easter Road. As with last year the person with the closest guess will get 1st pick and the person furthest away will be last. It will be an offline draft (just like last year) a live draft would have been awsome but the logistics of that made it very difficult to organise.

Boy, I've missed you :love ya!:
Incidentally, did you read the story about the young 12 year old Ohio State fan who was diagnosed with cancer?
He elected to name his tumour Michigan and told his mum and dad that he was going to beat Michigan like his team does and sure enough, he did. Thought it was a lovely story actually, epitomising the depth of the rivalry and the support he got from both sides of the divide was very touching indeed!

I am wondering who will risk it... And draft Hernandez hoping he will be found Not Guilty and returns to play!
Does anyone want to re-do their estimate? I'm suddenly not happy with my choice :)

True....but other than that we'll all have had 2 picks to your one by the time it gets back to you. Factor that in through the whole draft and first isn't exactly where I'd want to be picking from. Anyhow, you cheated. Couldn't get on yesterday but if I had I'd have seen your edited post (how many times that) and edited mine to suit. Not sure if I'd have gone +1 or minus -1 so to be fair, probably a good thing.

The wait between picks is a bugger but I like the back to back which comes with being first. Mid-draft probably has a decent advantage at this point right enough so you're actually quite well placed!
In essence, I'm now trying to work out whether all in the top 24 will have gone by the time it gets back to me or if people will blink and take a QB, thus leaving some of the top 24 still open.

I deliberately made my guess so that I'd come mid-table and have a good spread of picks. Unfortunately I'm about to head to work so won't be making mine til 3am-ish.
Me too but something happened and everyone seemed to edit their guesses so I ended up second last.

Is there a better way we can do this e.g., a picks thread with no discussion so that it's simple to see whose turn it is to pick without scrolling back a few pages?

That quick? I'll be back soon, really torn on what to do. Never thought about Brady to you guys brought it up. I know I am an arse at times, so should I play along or actually pick to win .

I'm genuinely surprised to see a QB go in round 1 after last year - brave man G :aok:
Good pick with Martin DH - I almost opted for him as the pundits all predict a huge year for him but elected Peterson instead.

he scored mega points last season. I think the O Line will be better this year as well.

Yeh, TBH it was him I was toying over whether to take the gamble with, or not (Brady, my arse). Couple of other RB's I was tempted with but the potential numbers Martin could put up are huge so ended up taking the plunge.
thought DH would pick beanie wells again to sit on the bench :greengrin

Was my first choice :na na:. Don't think he's signed up with anyone though.

I toyed with selecting Rodgers, but there's so much depth at QB that I'm not even sure whether to pick one with my 2nd pick.

thats true, ive 12 qbs ranked, romo is at 12, i could bear stafford or Ryan if the others were gone :greengrin
