I don't think we're collectively getting the message. We will not complete the draft at this rate. Yesterday afternoon was very frustrating. Everyone needed was showing up as viewing the thread (I know that can be misleading) yet it took hours to get through the turn. Because of that I couldn't make my pick till I got home (driving) and Sylar was in bed about 5 minutes before I made my pick. 8 hours wasted. Hopefully we can pick up the pace.

I would do that. All we need is an agreed upon list to use (I use fantasypros) and I would give each team the next best player on that list. After the rosters are complete, we could swap players we don't like eg, extra defenses.

Not if the draft has been set to offline I'm afraid! I'd be hesitant to go for any sort of autodraft as it won't take account of roster needs - you could end up with three tight ends sitting on your bench which wouldn't be great.

I say we keep going for another week and then set a date and time for us all being on here. If you aren't here / can't make it then you pick at the end or you send picks to someone to draft on your behalf.

have to agree, theres been times during this draft we have had 8 players online plus some looking in on mobiles, surely on a sunday it should be doable to do this draft at a time that suits all :agree:

That might be tricky since trades have to be authorized / voted on by everyone. I wouldn't mind starting the season with empty slots on my bench if we can fill those spots later.

Anyone dubbed the next Curtis Martin is worth a punt on. I wouldn't worry about drafting two players from the same team at this stage in the draft. You're really just looking to catch lightning in a bottle and go for upside picks.

In a nutshell, handcuffing is when you draft a players backup so that if that stud goes down, you have the guy who will replace him. This only really applies to the very best players, especially top RBs.

I think I should be OK if we maintain this pace. I don't have any reception at the camp site but I drive through areas of reception when doing things like shopping. I suspect that by Thursday we should be at the stage of picking the remainder of the bench so the picks are of slightly lesser importance.

Once the teams have been selected you will be able to make changes. Trades. Waiver wire. You will be okay as long as you make sure you have a working quarterback

Depending on how quickly we get through the remainder of the draft, it might even be possible to have one more round for people to swap out a single player to account for pre-season injuries, etc. I think most people will be happy with their roster so if we do add one final round I think it will go by quickly. I know that I won't be making any roster swaps unless a player I've picked gets injured.

BTW, some leagues offer an IR spot as well as bench spots. That means if one of your starters gets injured but should be back sometime later in the season, you don't need to drop him and he doesn't take up a spot on your bench. Not sure if NFL.com does that but I know that ESPN does.

30 seconds is how we do it on ESPN. We get our draft completed during a single lunch time. If you don't make a pick in 30 seconds, you get an auto-pick.

I personally believe that as long as you are prepared, 30 seconds is long enough. I think a lot of people have solid ideas of who they want to pick but obviously you are at the mercy of other people and their picks. As the draft progresses, you're really taking the best that's left or start picking your sleepers which is where your preparedness counts.

I suggested that after the draft is complete, anyone who has drafted a player who is out for the year should get a chance to swap that player for someone else. Right now I think that's just Bry. Not my league, not my rules, just a suggestion.

You're right, injuries are part of the game but a lot of people don't draft until after the pre-season so the injury concerns are out of the way. When it comes to in-season, injuries have to be dealt with via waiver wire pickups.

I suggested that after the draft is complete, anyone who has drafted a player who is out for the year should get a chance to swap that player for someone else. Right now I think that's just Bry. Not my league, not my rules, just a suggestion.

You're right, injuries are part of the game but a lot of people don't draft until after the pre-season so the injury concerns are out of the way. When it comes to in-season, injuries have to be dealt with via waiver wire pickups.

This is another example of where I think a player should be allowed to swap a player at the end of the draft. Up to the group as a whole though. If a player gets suspended after the season starts, tough, head over to the waiver wire.
