Jo Potter saying Hibs ladies indulged in the dark arts to win the League

The Rangers class
https://youtu.be/wfvh5Oxqg-c?si=kPwDUMZ8a5JU43VQ
What a classless, bitter walloper, trying to deflect her own shortcomings.
Hibs should press the SWPL on this and ask her to clarify exactly what dark acts Hibs were involved in (other than running he clock down which is part of the game at every level) and get her dealt with appropriately. Likely though she will be out her job anyway so it won’t matter.

She can still do a cup double they play Glasgow City in the Scottish Cup Final
When they scudded us 0-5 in the League Cup Final we took our medicine but don’t think they have managed to score against us since
Scott’s response was the perfect answer
The Rangers have reduced their budget for their woman’s team for next season by a sum equivalent to our total budget for this season

Not sure what you mean?
Its a press conference, she is a manager trying to deflect from her own teams failure to beat Hibs at home.
Standard Hun behaviour tbh.

Dark arts is generally a wee bit more serious than a bit of time wasting. Get her to elaborate on that comment.

Anybody associated with that rancid club inevitably becomes a bitter and twisted individual.

I thought the “challenge” for the red card near the end was about as “Rangers” an example of the dark arts as it is possible to get.
She was hurting, fair enough. It can be hard being asked for fair comment at times like that, as it can be difficult to resist the urge to release another statement.

I thought there was a wee bit of the 'dark arts' about our performance. We slowed the game down at every opportunity, took an age over set pieces and there was a lot of staying down late in the game only to jump up before the physio had to come on to avoid needing to go off the park. But so what?
That's football. Over the course of the season we had put ourselves in a position where a point was enough and played the clock accordingly. Over the course of the game we were in a position where we had done more than enough and again played the game accordingly from that point on. Rangers would have done exactly the same had they been 1-0 up with 10 to play yesterday, we wouldn't have liked it but it would have been their right to do it. I don't think it's all that unexpected for an opposition manager to mention it as it's a fairly easy deflection from her teams own shortcomings despite having a huge monetary advantage.

Anything that plays on that club’s notorious sense of grievance is fine by me.
Id quite like it if the women’s game was slightly different from the mens and more free of the petty nastiness that we get in mens interclub football rivalries but it seems to be going down that path.
Lets be honest if Rangers had managed to take the lead they'd have been doing the exact same things and I think the manager even eluded to it in her interview. The women "managed" the game perfectly yesterday and what a fantastic goal to seal the league.
Hope there's plenty sore heads this morning, they deserve it.

Faking injury and wasting time is definitely described as ‘the dark arts’. And everyone does it. Its came across as fairly petty for her to bang on about it for 45 seconds when it wasnt any more pronounced than you would expect when one teams defending a winning position for 94 minutes.

With a few minutes to go our keeper went down “ injured”. I said to my wife that little break allows the players to get a drink, have a breather and get their heads together, we had been under a bit of pressure. It’s part of the game, all teams do it, I seem to remember Craig Gordon regularly needed treatment in the last few minutes of derbies when Hearts were leading. Game management, Hibs were excellent at it yesterday.
Do we think the club will release any merchandise on the back of this? Would love to get my 3 girls champions tshirts.

Yeah would agree it wasn’t excessive time wasting - I’m sure if it was, the ref would’ve added on more than a fairly standard 4mins. And for all Hibs were slowing the game down, there were more than a few desperate dives and cynical fouls from her own side. Dark arts all round 😂
As others have said she is attempting to deflect from a gross failure given the hun women mammoth budget in comparison to the rest of the league.
What certainly does lack class, is the hun manager making numerous nasty / personal comments to Hibs players throughout the 90mins from the touchline.
The Hibs squad were superb for the whole season, particularly in head to heads vs the Glasgow sides - and deservedly won the league.
Couldn’t have picked a better place to win it either , a truly horrible mob - **** them.

Correct!! Don't want to be a downer but it could easily be 18 years till the next one. Let's make the most of it and get as many youngsters involved in the game as we can.

Talking of faking injury - one of their players, Rafferty, who was later sent off, was rolling around holding her face in the first half after a challenge where there was absolutely no contact whatsoever with her face. Several of their players also surrounded the ref trying to get Caley Gibbs sent off a few minutes later.
I'd class those incidents as more 'dark arts' than Hibs players slowing the game.

They were frustrated, you could see it. The petulant trip from behind that got rafferty sent off was something from the playground. One team was being professional (in all senses of the word), one was amateurishly losing the heid because they couldnt find their way past our tremendous defence and big Siobhan in particular.

Absolutely right- Rangers always give off prima donna vibes to me, whereas we have a hard working and controlled unit where you can just see they're working so hard for each other and also have the quality to eventually make teams who can't break us down pay.
Hopefully Hibs make sure we don't let this team break up and add a wee bit more strength in depth.

Talking of Caley i don't think it should be underestimated the impact she's had on the team. Another one who can run for days, strong in the tackle and has been a great addition to an already strong defence! Hopefully she's signed up going forward.

Do the shop not already sell shirts designed for women? Not been in for a long time but I think they used to. Might just have been shirts tho. Shorts also require a different design.
One thing's for sure, the women have come a long way from the early days of wearing ill-fitting cast-offs from the men's squad!

Strange seeing as she was one of the captains at the beginning of the season was she not?

That's good to hear. I watched The Lionesses (documentary about England's Euros win) and you can't overstate how influential it can be for girls to see that they really can make an impact if they want to play football.
I note that Mary Earps is retiring from international football. Noa Schumacher has been a standout for Hibs women this season. Unfortunately I think we only had her for a year?

Lia Tweedie will be a "big loss", says Hibs head coach Grant Scott, after the SWPL champions confirmed the striker will depart this summer.
The 27-year-old has scored 47 goals in 124 appearances across two spells at the club.
Tweedie made her farewell appearance in injury time of the title-winning victory over Rangers and has also won two Scottish Cups and four League Cups with Hibs.
"I want to thank Lia for her outstanding contribution to Hibernian. She is a great person who has deservedly picked up plenty of winners' medals with the club," said Scott.
"From coming through the Hibs academy to performing on the European stage and winning silverware, Lia has always remained a fantastic servant to this club and will be a big loss to the group – both on and off the pitch."

When I was told this a decade or so ago it left me wondering if anything I thought I knew from my childhood is actually true.
And once you know it and listen to the intro again, you will realise it’s kosher and leave you shocked that you never picked up on this in all those years…there is NOTHING I can rely on from my childhood memories anymore.

I appreciate this, just meant that both having a year was a strong hint that this year may be his last, given their rumoured ambitions to try pastures new.
Anyone know where Lia T. is heading?
She went out on loan to Queen's Park in October. Wouldn't be surprised if they offered her first team football as Kathleen and Eilidh have the striker spots pretty much nailed down.
Shannon went to Motherwell in January on loan.

Watched some of the second half thought Scotland looked good and were dangerous going forward and should have scored near the end. Passed the ball well. Definitely more promising and some of the Scottish based players should strengthen the group. Nice finish by McGovern

By the looks of things it'll take a small miracle for us to reach the group stage. Would have to win the 2 matches then a further 2 matches presumably against harder opponents.

tbf - I think that was across the whole female dept. Including all the coaches etc. It soon adds up. I wonder if we might try and pinch a few players, or pick up some that haven't made the cut. Brownlie release from Hearts, Cornett from Rangers, Cavannagh from Celtic. Pretty sure we could still get a tune out of them.

Bit of an error claiming they are in the top league in the US. It's the top development league, but could also be a great place for us to pick up players. It tends to be Uni players that arent quite at the WSL level, or WSL players looking for game time.

Brownlie I was disappointed we didn't try to re-sign when she went to Hearts, and we were so light at the back during the last 3 months of the season. I thought that was going to do for us.
Tbh I'd be delighted with any of them, all were very good players for us and continue to be, if not sure how they'd fit in as we have retained our mid. Would be a nice headache to have.

A 10 team league! Does that mean playing each other 4 times a season to make it easier for the OF to win the league?
Jock O

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cn86yqpvlxgo
It explains it half way down there, but in effect the top six will play each other 4 times as the league splits into a group of six and a group of 4 who then play each other, top 6 for title etc and bottom 4 where one will be relegated and one will have to go into play off. Looks like they are trying to even out the difference with full time clubs, and make it more competitive. However it will be interesting to see if it runs to expected outcome.
