Never seen flags or banners when that is the case.
Ukraine flags everywhere throughout football, openly supported by the likes of UEFA, FIFA and football associations and clubs around the world, alongside Black Lives Matter logos, Rainbow flags and more.
Nothing about genocide though.
So football has actively been involved in politics for a long, long while, and the idea that football isn't a place for political protest is wrong (IMO).

Hard to see us winning the league with the fixtures remaining for the top four but all the claims the Uglies would ruin women's football seem unfounded. What a great league with 4 teams still in with a great chance. The Derby loss and that Partick draw were points that we had every chance of picking up but ended up with a single point.

Apart from football-driven issues like Show Racism the Red Card I've rarely seen any of the issues you mention given mileage at ER.
The issue around Palestinian flags, as with Irish tricolors, is the association with support for terrorism.

We watched teams across the UK, Hibs included, take the knee for Black Lives Matter for over half a season.
Black Lives Matter was also emblazoned across the roof of one of the dugouts for a good while.
We have a yearly "rainbow laces" campaign for the LGBTQ community, and grounds around the UK, Europe, and the World regularly showed Ukraine flags in support of the country.
The Hibs ladies actually played in yellow and blue for a fixture to highlight the situation.
So football, and our own club, has actively been involved in social and political issues for a good while.
It isn't up to football, or Hibs, to pass judgement on what political protest is acceptable.
Neither the Irish flag, or the Palestinian flag represent terrorism, the Irish flag is actually a flag representing peace between the communities.
If those flags represent terrorism, then I can't imagine what the world thinks of the Union Jack and the Stars and Stripes, or the Star of David for that matter.

Again, though, these were initiatives or displays of solidarity (not so much 'protests') which had essentially been sanctioned by football authorities/communities as part of a bigger narrative. Black Lives Matter tied in well with football as a way of shining a light on the ongoing racism within the game.
What I'm talking about is the problems of more contentious issues or causes being embraced/weaponised by sections of football supporters, principally Celtic and Rangers when it comes to Scotland. To take the issues around the Palestinian and Irish flags in particular, there's no question that sections of the Celtic support determinedly spin a narrative around the IRA/Hamas as noble freedom fighters rather than terrorists, hence the reason these flags attract controversy.
When it comes to viewing flags in their proper context, anyone watching today's Auschwitz commemorations will see only a symbol of Jewish identity in the Star of David.

In the press today
"Celtic manager Sadiku wants more financial support, suggesting her budget is on the same level as Hibs and Hearts and is dwarfed by the resources of Glasgow City and Rangers".
Think the word suggesting is doing a lot of heavy lifting in the journalists sentence given they steal our players so I presumed that Celtic PLC pay a bigger wage than Hibs.

That was a good game of football.
Well done to the ladies team.
Yeah, well done Queens Park.
2nd bottom team, who before kick off had a -93 goal difference in 19 games.
To lose by only 2 goals today to one of the five well financed SWPL teams was a great effort.
Next up another tough game for Hibs women against 3rd bottom Montrose who currently have a goal difference of -60 so a bit of a step up in class from today.
Next proper game for Hibs is on the 2nd March against Celtic. The team will be well rested for that challenge after the Queens Park and Montrose processions.
A great effort by the team, management and coaches this season to be in the mix with the big 3 at this stage.

Hibs will remarkably be equal top of the SWPL after 21 games when they beat Montrose on Sunday!
The result we wanted to see tonight came to pass when Celtic and Glasgow City drew.
P.S. Rangers will make it a 4 way tie at the top if, as is likely, they beat Partick Thistle on Sunday

If we beat Montrose that will be a terrific effort to be joint equal top on points with 3 much better funded squads. Who knows what will happen as pressure is now very much a part of the run in and that can sometimes change the way teams play. Brilliant from the Women.

Are the women likely to lose any key players this summer? They tend to lose a few each season and i hope they can hold on to the majority of the team this year.
They seem to have a really promising squad and great spirit at the moment. Would be good to keep them at the club.

1 from Rangers was to be consistent with the counting method used by marinello59 for Hibs above i.e. players on loan count for the team they are on loan to. Austin is on loan to Motherwell and Clackers is on loan to Hibs.
If they count for their parent club that's 1 less for Hibs and 1 less for Motherwell and 1 more for Glasgow City and 1 more for Rangers as you suggest

Keeper Clachers will go back to her parent club Glasgow City after this season which is a big blow.
The consistent player losses each season tend to be the hired guns from foreign lands.
On the upside, Rachael Boyle is out of contract at the end of the season which will enable her wage to be utilised.

Partick Thistle 1 Aberdeen 2
Spartans 3 Montrose 2
Dundee United 2 Queen's Park 3, Dundee United just one win in 24

Half time. One nil to Hibs, Rosie Livingston pretty much last kick of the ball before the whistle. They are playing well, deserve to be in front.

That's a relief. The games against Motherwell are the only easy post split games so a must win.

2 nil. McAlonie. Her game has improved so much this season. Great to see her hard work pay off with a Scotland call up too.

Good way to go into the international break before a massive week where we play hearts, celtic and Rangers. The fact they're well in the mix at this stage is a credit to the team and management staff.

Top of the league by two points. Great weekend all round for the Hibees.
Rangers look to be building up a head of steam mind you, having stuck nine goals past ourselves and Hearts in the last week.

Keeper Clachers will go back to her parent club Glasgow City after this season which is a big blow.
The consistent player losses each season tend to be the hired guns from foreign lands.
On the upside, Rachael Boyle is out of contract at the end of the season which will enable her wage to be utilised.
Rachael Boyle's still one of the best ball playing midfielders in the league, not to mention the value of a player with her experience brings, I'd rather a new deal.
Could see Clachers coming back, she won't want to sit on the bench at City.

Rachael has played less football in her 3 year Hibs contract than Kyle Magennis did.
Like Kyle, Rachael is a very good player but Hibs women can't spend what scarce resources they have, for full time players, on a 33 year old who barely plays.
I'm sure you know far more about the ins and outs of the womens team finances and structure than me so I apologise if i'm well off the mark. Also suspect Rachael played for many years for little in return so it's probably unfair to compare her with KM. Suspect she has also done a lot of work behind the scenes for the womens team over the last few years.
Clachers coming back would be great. Strange that she signed such a long contract at City. Does she have any monetary value? Can City recall her if their No1 gets injured?

Yeah, that's an apples and oranges comparison. Magennis never put a run together in the team, and has always been a sicknote player. You can't compare him to the club captain, one of the beating hearts of the team and, still one of the best midfielders in the league who's just had a bit of bad luck (remember part of the reason she missed football is because she was having a baby, it wasn't injuries).
No players really have much monetary value at this level yet, a loan back is just as likely as anything else as she's not going to take the City no.1 spot anytime soon.

Why is that ?
Without wishing to stir up a hornet's nest, some of the Hibs women don't quite look the part of professional athlete's shape wise. Is it down to fitness and conditioning that women don't play past 30?

Biological changes in body shape, add that to her also having 2 kids, longer time to recover from injuries etc. Kim Little is still playing at the top level but she was / is a world class player and a supreme athlete.

Boyle was interviewed on the Behind the Goal podcast, she argued the time taken out to give birth could be beneficial as her body actually gets a break from the continued stresses other player's bodies are.
Given the infancy of the women's game at a professional level, there aren't really any case studies to say whether she's right or wrong, so she's putting forward a valid argument. There are very few players with her history, so we can't say when her career ends based on the examples of others.
We will see a departure from the previous earlier retirement age for players as the rise in professionalism continues and always access to better support, resources, and equipment. It will be less the reserve of the very best and become more of a norm.

Up until fairly recently the women all had to have jobs or go to college/uni. They weren't professional athletes as they weren't full time or paid. The advance in recent times is massive for them, this season I see a big turnaround in their physicality and stamina and that's down to their hard work and I guess the availability of time and facilities for them. It's not that long ago that they played on the public pitches at Broxburn. It'll be interesting to see the next generation of girls coming through who will have grown up with similar opportunities to the boys.

I didn't appreciate they had been full time for such a short period of time.
I don't think playing on public parks is an issue in terms of conditioning and fitness, but I agree that the coming generations of Hibs women players will surely be more athletic, benefitting from professional culture and training from a younger age.

I'm not sure on the timescales - it's one of these things where I'd say two or three years and in reality it's six or seven but I believe Kit Gordon was instrumental in bringing the women under the Hibs umbrella and getting them into East mains to have the same facilities and access to personnel that the men do. Hopefully the girls coming through now and in the future will show the benefits of what the current squads have worked hard to gain. I think the futures definitely better for the women's game.

She's no longer one the best players in the league and when she has been playing its been to fill gaps in defence - rather than provide the quality she used to in midfield. It's a real shame but I dont see any point in another contract. The key for Hibs next season is CBs. We need 2 starters.

Been like that for years. The girls and women’s game has progressed from not much to where they are but they have really hit a brick wall last few years and it’s a shame as you see English women’s football pull further ahead.
Athletic development and coaching not good enough in Scotland bar the few exceptions like Weir and Cuthburt.
The coaching staff in the Women’s set up and youth teams are all about who you know.
Last manager left start of December and 5 months later no manager !

Absolutely - if anyone had suggested at the beginning of the season that we would be sitting in second, a point behind Rangers with a handful of games to go
it's unlikely that there would have been a chorus of agreement.

I'm not sure how the European places are decided. I remember Hibs playing Bayern Munich in the Champions League about 10 years ago but that was when we were regularly competing for the league title.

Scotland are currently ranked 16th so the winners of the league enter the Champions path 2nd round and the runners up enter the League path 2nd round - Both teams will be in a group of 4 where you have to win 2 games to qualify into the 3rd round there are 2 semi-finals and the 2 winners then play each other in the final and the winner progresses to the 3rd round. The 3rd round is just a straight knockout round to qualify for the group stages with the winner progressing.
There is going to be a Women's Europa Cup from next season but Scotland are not ranked highly enough within UEFA(only the top 13 countries get an automatic spot) but some of the teams who are knocked out in previous rounds will drop down into the new competition.
Champions League (2025–)
[edit (https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=UEFA_Women%27s_Champions_League&action=edit§ion=6)]
On 4 December 2023, a new format was announced starting with the 2025–26 season.[1] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UEFA_Women%27s_Champions_League#cite_note-newsystem-1) The top seven associations enter three teams, associations ranked 8–17 enter two, and the remaining associations enter one. The competition is restructured to appear more similar to the men's CL format, with a Swiss-system (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swiss-system_tournament) 'league phase' consisting of 6 games against 6 different opponents (3 home and 3 away), and two paths (a champions path and a non-champions path) for teams that do not automatically qualify for the league stage.
Qualification takes place in two separate paths of up to three rounds.
The Champions path consists of the domestic champions from associations ranked seventh or below as well as the previous season's second competition winner with 4 teams advancing to the league stage. The first and second rounds are played as series of four-team mini-tournaments while the third round is played as two-legged ties.
The League path consists of domestic runners-up from associations ranked fourth to seventeenth and domestic third-placed teams from associations ranked first to seventh. A second round is played as a series of four-team mini-tournaments, while the third round is played as two-legged ties.
Losers from the third round ties and runners-up and third-placed teams in the second round mini-tournaments will transfer to the UEFA Women's Europa Cup (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UEFA_Women%27s_Europa_Cup), while fourth-placed teams in the second round mini-tournaments and all losers from the first round mini-tournaments will be eliminated.
The League phase consists of nine teams qualifying directly: The defending champions, domestic champions from the associations ranked sixth or higher as well as the domestic runners-up from the top two associations.
The top four teams from the league phase will advance to the quarter-finals while teams ranked fifth to twelfth will qualify to a knockout play-off round. The remaining six teams are eliminated.

[edit (https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=UEFA_Women%27s_Europa_Cup&action=edit§ion=2)]
Similarly to the UEFA Europa League (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UEFA_Europa_League) in men's football, clubs can enter the tournament both by virtue of their league position in the previous season or by elimination from early stages of the same season's Champions League. Unlike both the men's Europa League and the Champions League for both genders, the new tournament will be a pure knock-out tournament with no group stage. Every round, up to and including the final, will be played as a two-legged home-and-away tie.[1] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UEFA_Women%27s_Europa_Cup#cite_note-UEFA_announcement-1)
The tournament will be contested by 44 clubs in total – thirteen direct qualifiers from associations ranked 8–13 and 18–24 based on domestic league placement in the previous season plus thirty-one teams eliminated in the first and second qualifying rounds of the same season's Women's Champions League.[1] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UEFA_Women%27s_Europa_Cup#cite_note-UEFA_announcement-1)

Mackay has to be given credit for that. The footballing side of the club seems to be running as well as I can remember, and he is overseeing that.
Gray will quite rightly get most of the praise but Mackay is also clearly contributing to our success.

Trans men are women so that would be perfectly fine. Trans men are unlikely to affect men's football in any way. Trans women however would adversely affect women's football. I think it's about biology not idealogy.

Totally, if McGovern's header goes in there's no way back from 2-0 for Hearts but we looked ropey at the back with out Shiv.

A few of us at were at the sponsors night last night and the women were all on good form. Realistic that it's a tough run in but confident they are good enough. As was pointed out by everyone who was speaking the whole club is buzzing now with the men, women and under 18s all having a successful season. You get the feeling it is a great place to be working right now. Joe Newell spoke well about the women and it feels there is a fair bit of unity between the squads.
A special mention for Mya Christie. She is currently out on loan and out of contract at seasons end so it would be easy for her to feel a bit detached from things. She was at our table and was absolutely full of enthusiasm for Hibs. She spent the whole night talking to my daughter about everything from Bluey to Man Utd Women. A great ambassador for the club and I hope she has a great career, be that at Hibs or elsewhere.

The change of format to split has made end of season even more interesting with every game crucial.
I wonder how much having girls at EM has helped whole club unity? The plan to expand EM and have women in current part and a new men's campus will make it some set up- I remember the angst among many when EM came around but it has proved crucial and will continue to be for club developing both talent and culture and attracting players. Sounds familiar to the men's derby, where we hear Hearts players refer to bring schooled in the importance of the derby (pretty much above all else) as soon as they sign for the club.
