I'm more surprised that his arms are long enough to hold a scarf above his head.

All that extra money he’s getting gone to his head ?

Great move for him.
Was their best player last season. Hopefully not too high a fee though contract runs to summer 27 so probably easily a few mil.
Penrice is a good player, good going forward. For a left back he isn't the best defender. Their best player last season but nobody stood out. Boy has been well over-hyped though. Decent engine games at Tynie v fellow bottom 6 strugglers when Hearts had the ball - largely ineffective in big games, anonymous in the 3 derbies. In each Derby game Penrice was the 2nd best left back on the park. Good SPL player, no more, wouldn't be ahead of either Nicky Cadden or Obita.
Given his age and ability they would be doing well to get as much as £1 million - which is probably the top end of his worth. A solid half million pound player, well bummed up by the Gorgie hoarde and media alike.

The figure 18k has been mention so that’s why I put nearly £3 million.
Absolutely nuts!
That's mental, basket case of a club, but the darlings of Scottish media! 🫤

Not a rumour - but had a look on a list of free agents, especially any older experienced forwards.
Josh King's name popped up, was last at Toulouse in Ligue 1. Now maybe one that would usually be out of our reach (an educated guess) but interesting to note he was at Bournemouth for 4/5 seasons. The sort of transfer that Black Knights could help us swoop?
Did he play for Norway when Scotland beat them 2-1 away
Edit: He didn't

A peek at Kickback on the Penrice news confirms it - people may have held this view before, but this new fangled approach they have to football and transfers makes them (even more) insufferable.
Impossible to listen to/read.

It's wild. Not from kickback but Hearts mates (I know!) in chats talking about 3 million plus.... for James Penrice! Not made a single mark in any big game just neat and tidy in the games they should win and have the ball at Tynie. - going forward not the greatest defender. Decent solid SPL player, that's all.
Player of the year nominee Triantis 1 million, bottom 6 left back lite Penrice 3 million.... make it make sense

I'm sure Penrice made the team of the season? Defo the PFA team of the season anyway.

That triggers this absolutely failsafe approach where every single piece of player trading will improve them until the Club World Cup is reduced to just one team, as Infantino realises only then that the Jambo juggernaut and the maroon pound usurps all his previous money grabbing adventures.
I wouldn't even go all out in the hope of ANOTHER relegation, or if they ultimately blagged a tightly contested third and a cup final in the law of averages over the next few years. I'd be more than happy if they realised they'd been getting their knickers in a twist for what basically transpired to be the same old utterly average, non-descript run of the mill existence.

They’re absolutely mental. This shows how JTA is kicking in.
The signing that was nothing to do with JTA, who was their only decent player last season, who is now being sold, shows that JTA is really good…
Another example that a lot of the players who do well for you in this league are right under your nose.

Crazy money for him, not that I'd believe Scott Burns but certainly looks like they've played a blinder. Should have sold Spittal at the time the media where in overdrive about the 2 of them linking up on their left, could have coined a few million for him too.

While Prenrice is decent, Nicky Cadden played far better last season.
Marvin Bartley said on Hibs TV that he encouraged us to sign him but I think we made the right choice.

Certainly not Hibs or SDG having a go at Triantis I don't think.
It's probably simply an honest hint that it's getting closer to the stage where Triantis has to realise that Hibs can't afford to hang around as his fall back option while he waits for something 'better' to come along. If we seriously are prepared to smash our transfer record to sign him, that's over a million quid sitting doing nothing to improve our team while he considers his options.
IMO it won't be long until we seriously start to look at our other options as our first European game gets closer .... a new DM and striker are a must, unless SDG thinks Josh Mulligan can play DM and we chuck everything at a striker, though I doubt that's why Mulligan was signed. Whatever the case I simply can't see Hibs waiting around until the 31st of August for Triantis to make his mind up, and given what SDG has said there, neither do Hibs.

Jambo mate of mine says £18k is “bull****” and that Shanklands new deal is £12k a week + add ons. So maybe a £2k goal bonus and they’re expecting him to score a hattrick every week since he’s the messiah and that’s where the £18k chat is coming from[emoji16]
